    If one has a number of databases (due to separate application front-ends) that provide a complete picture - for example a CRM, accounting, and product database - what methods are available to centralize/abstract this data for easy reporting? Essentially, I'm wondering if there is a way to automatically pull data from multiple databases into a central repository that is continuously updated from the three databases and which can be used for reporting? I'm also open to alternative best practice suggestions?

    I'd like to censor some words in a string by replacing each character in the word with a "*". Basically I would want to do String s = "lorem ipsum dolor sit"; s = s.replaceAll("ipsum|sit", $0.length() number of *)); so that the resulting s equals "lorem ***** dolor ***". I know how to do this with repeated replaceAll invokations, but I'm wondering, is this possible to do with a single replaceAll?

  • iphone app rejection question

    My iPhone app was rejected with the following note: "The following non-public APIs are included in your application: Spi Symbols __memset_chk __memmove_chk" These symbols appear in a small number of apparently cocos2d related object files: Grid.o Primitives.o TextureAtlas.o Curiously, this app had already been approved under the previous SDK, but under 3.2 it's being rejected, though that may have nothing to do with it. I'm not at all sure how to resolve this and appreciate any help anyone can offer. Thanks.

    I have a file directory which could look like either C:\projects\lab3\test\test.java or C:\projects\assignment3\test\test.java But the "lab3" or "assignment3" can appear anywhere in the directory, it is not a set directory What i want is to check to see if the directory either contains "lab" or "assignment" and get the number that follows. In this case "3" This is what i have so far if(directory.toLowerCase().contains("lab")){ } else if (directory.toLowerCase().contains("assignment")){ } but i do not know how to check for the char straight after the word?

    I have a java primitive type at hand: Class c = int.class; // or long.class, or boolean.class I'd like to get a 'default value' for this class - specifically the value is assigned to fields of this type if they are not initialized. E.g., '0' for a number, 'false' for a boolean. Is there a generic way to do this? I tried c.newInstance() But I'm getting an InstantiationException, and not a default instance.

    Hello, We have observed that there seems to be a maximum number of ids/variables which one can pass in the IN clause of SQL as comma seperated values. To avoid this we are storing all the ids in a table and doing a SELECT within the IN clause. This however means extra database operations to store and retrieve ids. Is there any other way to use IN without SELECT? regards Sameer

  • How do I pass a javascript parameter to an asp.net MVCmodel from within a View?

    Hi everyone! I am having an issue trying to access a list property on a model from within a javascript. My basic situation is this: I have an ArticleController and an ArticleViewModel. An Article has a number of properties, one of which is Text, which is just a string that contains the contents of the article. The ArticleViewModel contains a Pages property, which is just a List of Strings. When the ArticleViewModel constructor is called, I populate the Pages list by dividing up the article text based on some delimeters. I have a View which inherits the ArticleViewModel type. What I want to do is only display one page at a time, and then when the user clicks a page number (from a list at the bottom of the article), I want to use javascript to load that page into the #dynamicContent div. The problem: I can't seem to pass a parameter to the Model.Pages property from within javascript... Is this possible? I get an error stating, "Expression Expected" when I try what I have below. I don't want to have to worry about AJAX calls or anything like that since I already have the entire article... I just need a way to access each individual page from within the javascript function. Alternatively, if there is a better solution for "paginating" an article so that I can load each articlePage without having to refresh the entire html page, I would certainly be open to that as well. I haven't added any error correction yet either (and some of my variables are vague), but would like to enter a binary say 111111 instead of 1 enter, 1 enter, 1 enter, etc to fill the array. I am open to any technique and other suggestions. Maybe input it as a string and convert it to an int? I will keep researching. Thanks.

    Hi, Why does the Javascript function call isNaN(123.) return false? Is this a universally acceptable number or will it cause errors downstream? I'm validating whether a value is a valid decimal using isNaN along with split. Are there cross-browser issues with isNaN? Should I use a bespoke implementation? Thanks.
