  SharePoint 2010 Training: more information Greetings! I will be speaking at NNUG Kristiansand tonight (sorry for the very short notice). So I was thinking what should I demo tonight?Hmm!!!Instead of using any slides or such material, what I thought would be a tonne of fun, would be to develop a service bus based application running in Azure. This will be a good opportunity to code and talk, and run into some snafus and show off some VS2012 improvements/annoyances.   I just removed the poll at 10:52, so this is the final result: My conclusions out of it: While the removal of UltraSPARC I to VI+ support in Solaris 11 may hit some of the people voting in the categories "Wait?" to "6 month", most of the users keep Solaris 10 running on their existing system anyway or migrate that late that even the newest system have reached their end-of-service-live or are near of it, so a migration doesn't sound that feasible. So i assume Product Management was right with their decision to remove the support in order to make the feature i can't talk of possible, as i don't think that many of the early migrators are still using the system in question, as most systems have reached EOSL. Didn't thought that there would be people waiting three years and more ...

  If I have a view called, for example, ViewDetails that displays user information in labels and has a Model called ViewDetailsModel and if I want to allow the user to click a button to edit some of these details, is it considered bad practice is I pass the entire Model in the markup to a controller method which then assigns the values for another model, using the values stored in the Model that was passed in as a parameter to that action method? If so, should there instead be a service method that gets the data required for the edit view? For example: In the ViewDetails view, the user clicks the edit button which calls an action method in the controller (and passes in the Model object). The action method then uses the data in the Model object to populate another model which will be used for the EditDetails view that will be returned.

  What should drive the decision behind doing development upon one or more than one framework? For instance, an ERP is (mostly) run on a Windows station. It leverages full access to device's resources, like printers, barcode readers, fingerprint readers and the like. It's usually more responsive and easier do develop with. That being said, some parts of it must be accessed exclusively in self-service mode, by enterprise's customers, suppliers and partners. This could be accomplished with smartphones, tablets, or even desktops running a web browser. What are the economics behind that? Should two team be kept, each one doing work upon its own framework? Or the most permissive framework should be chosen? Should I care something other than HTML technologies? Should I consider native technology for each device?

I would like to markup my business listing 'profile' level pages for display as enhanced listings/rich-snippets complete with business names, addresses and phone numbers. I would also like to display site-links and path-based breadcrumbs to help users navigate site directory hierarchy (which is deep). Is there a limit to the amount of breadcrumbs a site can leave? Is there a separate limit on the number of breadcrumbs which Google/Bing will display in the SERP? What kind of markup language(s) would be needed to best position my site to show site-links AND breadcrumbs? • Exploring TCP throughput with DTrace (2)

  Last time, I described how we can use the overlap in distributions of unacknowledged byte counts and send window to determine whether the peer's receive window may be too small, limiting throughput. Let's combine that comparison with a comparison of congestion window and slow start threshold, all on a per-port/per-client basis. This will help us Identify whether the congestion window or the receive window are limiting factors on throughput by comparing the distributions of congestion window and send window values to the distribution of outstanding (unacked) bytes. This will allow us to get a visual sense for how often we are thwarted in our attempts to fill the pipe due to congestion control versus the peer not being able to receive any more data. Identify whether slow start or congestion avoidance predominate by comparing the overlap in the congestion window and slow start distributions. If the slow start threshold distribution overlaps with the congestion window, we know that we have switched between slow start and congestion avoidance, possibly multiple times. Identify whether the peer's receive window is too small by comparing the distribution of outstanding unacked bytes with the send window distribution (i.e. the peer's receive window). Comparing these distributions, we can observe: That slow start congestion control is in operation. The distribution of congestion window values lies below the range of slow start threshold values (which are in the 536870912+ range), so the connection is in slow start mode. Both the unacked byte count and the send window values peak in the 65536-131071 range, but the send window value distribution is narrower. This tells us that the peer TCP's receive window is not closing. The congestion window distribution peaks in the 1048576 - 2097152 range while the receive window distribution is confined to the 65536-131071 range. Since the cwnd distribution ranges as low as 2048-4095, we can see that for some of the time we have been observing the connection, congestion control has been a limiting factor on transfer, but for the majority of the time the receive window of the peer would more likely have been the limiting factor. However, we know the window has never closed as the distribution of swnd values stays within the 65536-131071 range. So all in all we have a connection that has been mildly constrained by congestion control, but for the bulk of the time we have been observing it neither congestion or peer receive window have limited throughput. The slow start threshold is in fact still close to it's initial (very high) value, so that would suggest we have not experienced any congestion (the slow start threshold is adjusted when congestion occurs). Also, the above measurements were taken early in the connection lifetime, so the congestion window did not get a changes to get bumped up to the level of the slow start threshold. A good strategy when examining these sorts of measurements for a given service (such as a webserver) would be start by examining the distributions above aggregated by port number only to get an overall feel for service performance, i.e. is congestion control or peer receive window size an issue, or are we unconstrained to fill the pipe? From there, the overlap of distributions will tell us whether to drill down into specific clients. For example if the send window distribution has multiple peaks, we may want to examine if particular clients show issues with their receive window.

  Possible Duplicate: Change host / keep emails OK here's the situation...I'm trying to transfer my domain and email address to a new hosting service and I would like to start using Google's domain apps for my email, etc. My email address is currently on a WebMail type platform and when I move my domain and start using Google domain apps I would also like to keep the old emails and have them imported the the email address on Google. Note: The email address will be the same on both hosts. For example [email protected]. So its keeping the same address between two different systems. I've been Googling how to do this for awhile and all the migrate options that come up don't appear in the the Google inbox setting or domain apps config settings. Any help is greatly appreciated.

• Empathy sametime client id

  I have been using Pidgin as an all-in-one IM client, but now as Empathy is the default app in Ubuntu I wanted to try it out. I have a sametime account at an external company that is keen to restrict access to their service from certain sametime client versions only. I was able to trick it with pidgin by specifying the following settings in accounts.xml: <setting name='client_minor' type='int'>8510</setting> <setting name='client_major' type='int'>30</setting> <setting name='client_id_val' type='int'>4876</setting> I tried to do the same in Empathy but I failed. As far as I know, Pidgin and Empathy use the same connector Plugin for sametime, so basically the functions should be there somewhere but there is little information about the configuration files and that doesn't discuss any sametime specific options.

• GCM: onMessage() from GCMIntentService is never called [migrated]

  I am implementing GCM (Google Cloud Messaging- PUSH Notifications) in my application. I have followed all the steps given in GCM tutorial from developer.android.com My application's build target is pointing to Goolge API 8 (Android 2.2 version). I am able to get the register ID from GCM successfully, and I am passing this ID to my application server. So the registration step is performed successfully. Now when my application server sends a PUSH message to my device, the server gets the message as SUCCESS=1 FAILURE=0, etc., i.e. Server is sending message successfully, but my device never receives the message. After searching alot about this, I came to know that GCM pushes messages on port number 5228, 5229 or 5230. Initially, my device and laptop was restricted for some websites, but then I was granted all the permissions to access all websites, so I guess these port numbers are open for my device. So my question is: I never receive any PUSH message from GCM. My onMessage() from GCMIntenService class is never called. What could be the reason?   I spent the afternoon with the Geolocator object in the WinRT and Widows 8 platform. I have also been working with doing Windows Phone 7 development, and first had to wrap my head around the fact that while similar, it is not the same as the GeoCoordinateWatcher that environment. I found a nice example here http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/windowsapps/Geolocation-2483de66 But the behavior of my app wasn’t the same. Once you ensure that location services is enabled by following these instructions: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/hh768219.aspx Location Services was still disabled. From everything I read, it sounded like the first time you try to use the Geolocator object, the user would be prompted to allow to “Access to your location”. After nosing around I found the issue. You need to add the location service as a Capability in the Package.appxmanifest file: After checking the box, I was prompted to allow access to location services as expected the first time I needed to use it.

  I want to create an app that accesses the GMail API, but I'm finding that it isn't as simple as I thought it might be. I'm hoping somebody in the community here might have some experience working with one of these API's and could not only recommend the right solution, but also show me to some tutorials or examples that could help me get up and running. Here are some of the requirements of this app: Preferably in Rails or Javascript or even PHP. I am open to other technologies as well, but hope they'd be easy to implement. Connects to gmail via Oauth Can read who emails have been sent to and received from. Basically would like to perform some analytics on who emails are sent to, when and how frequently. I've read that one reason why this isn't easy, and why there isn't an official javascript API provided by gmail, is that google is concerned it's going to make their service less performant for their users.
