  • Downloading large file with php

    Hi, I have to write a php script to download potentially large files. The file I'm reporting here works fine most of the times. However, if the client's connection is slow the request ends (with status code 200) in the middle of the downloading, but not always at the very same point, and not at the very same time. I tried to overwrite some php.ini variables (see the first statements) but the problem remains. I don't know if it's relevant but my hosting server is SiteGround, and for simple static file requests, the download works fine also with slow connections. I've found Forced downloading large file with php but I didn't understand mario's answer. I'm new to web programming.   • Low Level Console Input

    I'm trying to send commands to to the input of a cmd.exe application using the low level read/write console functions. I have no trouble reading the text (scraping) using the ReadConsole...() and WriteConsole() functions after having attached to the process console, but I've not figured out how to write for example "dir" and have the console interpret it as a sent command. Here's a bit of my code: CreateProcess(NULL, "cmd.exe", NULL, NULL, FALSE, CREATE_NEW_CONSOLE, NULL, NULL, &si, &pi); AttachConsole(pi.dwProcessId); strcpy(buffer, "dir"); WriteConsole(GetStdHandle(STD_INPUT_HANDLE), buffer, strlen(buffer), &charRead, NULL); STARTUPINFO attributes of the process are all set to zero, except, of course, the .cb attribute. Nothing changes on the screen, however I'm getting an Error 6: Invalid Handle returned from WriteConsole to STD_INPUT_HANDLE. If I write to (STD_OUTPUT_HANDLE) I do get my dir written on the screen, but nothing of course happens. I'm guessing SetConsoleMode() might be of help, but I've tried many mode combinations, nothing helped. I've also created a quick console application that waits for input (scanf()) and echoes back whatever goes in, didn't work. I've also tried typing into the scanf() promp and then peek into the input buffer using PeekConsoleInput(), returns 0, but the INPUT_RECORD array is empty. I'm aware that there is another way around this using WriteConsoleInput() to directly inject INPUT_RECORD structured events into the console, but this would be way too long, I'll have to send each keypress into it. I hope the question is clear. Please let me know if you need any further information. Thanks for your help.

  • Webkit browsers rendering CSS different than Mozilla Firefox...Why??

    I'm styling a form that was already marked up (made some markup changes), and I normally work in Firefox to style so I can use firebug and the web developer toolbar. On this project, I noticed that my styles are displaying quite differently for one particular area (several elements) in webkit based browsers Chrome and Safari, than in Firefox (we won't even get into Internet Explorer, although it is siding with the Firefox display). I can't figure out though why the styles are displaying so differently. Normally there is some rule that I'm neglecting that Firefox just takes for granted, and the others need it specified. But here I'm not getting why it's displaying this way. In particular I'm referring to the bottom area of the form where users can enter their contact info, then submit the form. I'll attach screen shots for reference as to the discrepancy. Here's the URL so feel free to check it out on your own.   • Do I want an embedded web-server, or what?

    So, someone want me to hack some code for him. He has a 42" TFT display on which he will display some application/business related data. However, 75% of the screen real estate is unused, so he wants to fill it with "TV/adverts/flash/you know, that kind of thing... web based....". Any advice? Do I want an embedded web-server? If so, which? (he wants free & open source, or as cheap as possible) Do I display it in a browser? (duh! probably, dude) But I don't want/need a menu, address bar, toolbar, etc - it should be full screen (does that mean "kiosk mode"?). Sorry, folks, the requirements are not clear, but I hope that you can guess what he probably means (he is not very techie). How should I proceed with this? Thanks.

  • Android Development-cannot download an image outside of onCreate

    hi everyone...... im new to android development........and i am stuck with a problem...... i am trying to develop an android application that shows the user the location of atms,hotels etc on a google map....i havent started working on the gps yet.as of now the app works something like this....first of all a map loads on which i intend to show the users current location......on clicking on the menu button there are 3 options..... -services -about us -quit on selecting services option the following options are available...... -atm -hospital -hotel etc on selecting the atm option we will be shown a screen displaying some text........ on using the menu for this screen we get the following menu items..... -sbi -canara -hdfc -icici etc my intention is that when the user selects the sbi option a map should load showing the various places where there are sbi atms near where the user is currently...... ......i started out with the google map api but i had to quit because when i select one of the menu options, such as "sbi",the map doesnt load......instead i am getting the error "application failed to load"...basically i was trying to load a map activity from my first map activity......after googling a bit without any results i tried another approach.......i tried to download and view the static map of the location i wanted..it worked.......but when i tried to download the static map when i select an option like before i get the same error..."application failed to load"...then i tried downloading 2 images from inside onCreate....that worked.......i cannot do the same thing outside the onCreate.....for eg.inside the function for the selected option... i have given the link to my code below..... if someone can please look into this it would be of great help to me.........i have been sitting with this problem for days now......and its urgent too.......i have done the project in eclipse....... httpDownload.java --- http://dpaste.com/195981/

  • Creating many polygons with OpenGL is slow?

    I want to draw many polygons to the screen but i'm quickly noticing that it slows down quickly. I can't upload them directly to the card because my program will allow the user to reshape the verticies. My question is, how can I speed this up. I'm not using depth. I also know it's not my GetCamera() functions because if I create 500,000 polygons spread apart t's fine, it just has trouble showing them in the view. If a graphics card can support 500,000,000 on screen polygons per second, this should be easy right? Thanks

  • Android - Where to store generated bitmaps?

    I've got an app which dynamically generates anywhere from 6 to 100 small bitmaps for the user to move around the screen in a given session. I currently generate them in onCreate and store them to the sd card, so that after an orientation change I can grab them out of external storage and display them again. However, this takes time (the loading) and I'd like to keep the bitmap references around between lifecyle changes for quicker access. My question is, is there a better place to store my generated bitmaps? I was thinking about creating a static storage library in my base activity, something that would only need to be reloaded when the app is completely removed from memory (shutdown, other apps need resources, 30 minute restart, etc). Ideally, I'd like the user to be able to back out to the title screen, click a "Resume" button, and in onCreate I just have access to those resident bitmap references instead of having to load them from storage again. For this reason I don't think Activity.onRetainNonConfigurationInstance is what I need. Alternatively, is there a better way to handle multiple generated bitmaps than what I'm doing or the plan I described?
