  • Paging in my web page

    Hi, I have a large data set and i have to apply paging on that data set and after that the result set should be another data set. What is the reliable method to achieve that. I have tried with 'PagedDataSource' class but i don't know how it is possible to convert to dataset or data table. In my case i need a general solution. I have to bind to a control like gridview as well as i have to used it with normal html table.

  • Escaping quotes twice in PHP

    Hello, I have a complicated form where I first have to take some _GET parameters and obviously I have to do a mysql_real_escape_string() on them since I look stuff up in the database with them. Them problem for me is after the initial db lookup. When the user submits a form, I send them along as a _POST request and obviously have to do this mysql_real_escape_string call again just in case someone tries to hack my site with a faked form submission. Then the problem I have is the arguments are escaped twice and my queries begin to look strange like this: select field1 , field2 , from my_table where some_id = \'.$lookup_id.\' ... So the system seems to be adding \' and it is messing me up :) Also, in my other forms I have not seen such behavior. Any ideas on what may be causing this? One weird thing is that I tried to send unescaped parameters to the post, and the same problem happens. That is a clue, but not a sufficient one for me. :( Thanks, Alex

    I am wondering if it is possible to dictate the order (i.e. :order = 'created_at DESC') within the view. I realize that logic in the view is not ideal but I seem to be having some problems locating where to affect this output.     We used to be a Coldfusion development shop before hopping over to PHP in 2008, now we primarily develop custom Drupal websites. I enjoyed going from CF to PHP, but I feel like I am getting a bit stale. I have been looking at different things like Ruby, Python, Obj C (iPhone). The problem is, there just isn't enough time in the day. What would be a fun new thing to learn that would refresh me a bit and challenge myself to learn more?

If I view the target element in the 'Developer Tools', that class is completely missing from the Style panel.   • DataContractAttribute with Shared Assembly

    Hi All, Is it necessary to decorate custom objects with [DataContract] and [DataMember] when using shared assemblies (as opposed to auto proxy generation)? The reason I ask is that I have encountered the following scenario: Suppose the following object is implemented in my service: public class baseClass { Guid _guid; public baseClass() { _guid = Guid.NewGuid() } public Guid ReturnGuid { get {return _guid;}} } public class newClass : baseClass { int _someValue; public newClass {} public int SomeValue { get {return _someValue;} set {_someValue = value;} } } [ServiceContract] public IService { [OperationContract] newClass SomeOperation(); } In my client (with shared assemblie) I can happily recieve and use a serialized newClass when SomeOperation is called - even though I have not marked it as a DataContract. However, as soon as I do mark it with DataContract and use DataMember then it complains that set is not implemented on ReturnGuid in the base class. Could somebody explain why it works fine when I do not decorate with DataContract and DataMember. Many thanks.

  • Display list of websites on local IIS server in a web page

    Hey Guys, I am currently trying to figure out a way to list all of the websites that are running on a local IIS 6 server at the office and display links to each site with their descriptions so we can always find our development sites with ease. The way that the server is currently set up is I add a DNS record for a new site. eg: newsite.company.local and then add it to IIS. This way all the users in our office can access this site via their browser and developers can test, admins can review etc etc. What I want to do now is automatically generate a webpage with a list of all of the sites running on iis and have it be available across the network. I have never looked into this before and have no idea where to start.. help! Thanks :)

  • In 2011 is it truly necessary to still degrade js?

    Serious question. I tried most of the famous websites (including facebook) and I can say that tons of functionality doesn't degrade at all with js disabled. I've been always told that js should degrade gracefully, but does this still applies in these day and age? ie6 support is being dropped by several sites, and most of the web2.0 relies heavily on js (especially ajax, I even found some sites that doesn't let you login without js enabled). What are your thought about it?

The response is UserSecurityToken. They are all strings.   • How can you setup multiple WSGI apps on one server?

    I'm working on a python based server product where a user can install WSGI-based python apps on their server. I can enforce any restriction on the application structure or format to make this easy. The user workflow would be: browse an app market, showing a list of WSGIpython apps select an app and choose "install" the app would be downloaded from a remote server to the user's server the http server would then have to be configured to start serving that application from the app's id, ex. a blog app with an id of "blog" at "/blog/", so all requests below /blog/ would be seen as root by the blog application. Any suggestions on how to set something like this up? Holler if my flow of consciousness lost you ;)

  • Passing user_id, site_id, and question_id to same table on create...

    I can't seem to figure out how to do this. I am trying to pass four different variables to a single table. To be more specific I am trying to create a "like" in a likes table that also captures the site_id (like an answer), user_id, and the question_id. Here is the set up. class Like < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :site belongs_to :user belongs_to :question end I will spare you the reverse, has_many associations but they are there. Here is the likes controller where I think the problem is. class LikesController < ApplicationController def create @user = current_user @site = Site.find(params[:site_id]) @like = @site.likes.create!(params[:like]) @like.user = current_user @like.save respond_to do |format| format.html { redirect_to @site} format.js end end end This code successfully passes the like and site_id but after many different variations of trying I can't get it to pass the question id.     I'm accessing a third party WCF service (I have no access to the service configuration) We're using SSL certificates for the authentication. I'm getting this error when trying to access to any of the provided methods The HTTP request is unauthorized with client authentication scheme 'Negotiate'. The authentication header received from the server was 'Negotiate,NTLM I checked many google links and no luck so far- No idea what else to check on my side.

    I am using the code: <%= image_tag site.photo.url(:small) if site.photo.file? %> to tell my app to display nothing if there is no photo associated with a particular post (site in this case). Is there a way to render a message along w/ this. For instance "no image with the post". I tried simply doing <%= if site.photo.file? %> <p> no image with this site </p> <% end %> But that doesn't seem to work. New to ruby and rails if you can't tell.

But, as I had never worked with django before, I'm not aware of what it implies to upload it and test it on a production server.     I more and more see these global login-once comment-everywhere systems on every page. I didn't do my homework of tinkering debugging and search before asking, so my question is as follows: You login on site A and leave a comment. Now you go on site B, which uses the same global comment system. At the bottom of the page a request form with your name and data appears for you to add a comment on B page. You don't leave any comment and browse away. Does the global-comment provider get information about the fact that you visited page B, even if you don't leave any comment ? I will dig into the code as soon as I have time, but in the meanwhile I would like to ask your insights on this regard.
