  Context I am storing a java.util.List inside ehcache. Key(String) --> List<UserDetail> The ordered List contains a Top 10 ranking of my most active users. Problem Concurrent 3rd party clients might be requesting for this list. I have a requirement to be as current as possible with regards to the ranking. Thus if the ranking is changed due the activities of users, the ordered List in the cache must not be left stale for very long. Once I've recalculated a new List, I want to replace the one in cache immediately. Consider a busy scenario whereby multiple concurrent clients are requesting for the ranking; how can I replace the cache item in an fashion such that: Clients can continue to pull a possibly stale snapshot. They should never get a null value. There will only be 1 server thread that writes to the cache.

• JQuery Pure Template

  I cant figure out whats wrong. Its working when i tried to refresh only topics but it doesnt works when tried to refresh topics and page-links. ie. topics table's refreshing, and 'pagelinks' disappearing, i thought pure cannot reach - read second template node. By the way, i tested their code, first message box show up all of nodes - includes 'pagelinks' node, but second one - in function only show up topic rows. Its look like a bug. Anyone knows how can i solve this? ps. I'm using latest version of pure. Thanks. • Wireless card power management

  I have noticed that when my computer in plugged in, the wireless strength increases. I'm assuming this is to do with power management. Is there a way to disable Wireless Power Management? I have found a few blog posts that show hacks to disable this but what is best practice here? Should there not be an option via the power menu that lets you toggle this? How does this make sense if I need to obtain a primary key from the user? I have control over all tiers of the application, so suggestions on database design if needed are also welcomed.

I need to close print dialog in order to render page properly then print manually. Please advise.

As I understood from .NET client code, I need to send post request to the following url (after establishing connection with server): http://serverurl/signalr/send?transport=serverSentEvents&connectionId=<my_connection_id> . In request body I need to send json string containing basic information about the invoked method. My question is how should this json look like? I'm trying to send smth like this (again, judging by .NET client code): {"data" : {"Hub" : "hubname", "Method" : "methodname", "Args" : {"message" : "msg"} } } But I get the following error: System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null.   Hello I think I'm missing a very silly detail but the logout funtion of facebook connect is not working for me. I followed the steps posted in this answer by Typeoneerror but I cant get it to work. This is my logout javascript function function logout() { FB.init("API_KEY", "/xd_receiver.htm"); FB.Connect.logoutAndRedirect("/logout/url"); } When I click on it - nothing happens - In the browser status bar - For a second I see a message which says waiting for facebook - but I continue to stay on the same page. It does not redirect me nor does it log me out of facebook either. Just to see if the function is being called - I removed FB.init call from the function and then I get the error Error Message: 'FB.Connect' is null or not an object Any suggestions on how to debug this. Class A calls a startActivityForResult: Intent intent = new Intent(this, ClassB.class); startActivityForResult(intent, "STRING"); Class B, this class is a TabActivity: Intent intent = new Intent(this, ClassC.class); tabHost.addTab... Class C, this class is a regular Activity: Intent intent = this.getIntent(); intent.putExtra("SOMETHING", "EXTRAS"); this.setResult(RESULT_OK, intent); finish(); onActivityResult is called in Class A, but the resultCode is RESULT_CANCELED instead of RESULT_OK and the returned intent is null. How do I return something from the Activity inside a TabHost? I realize that the problem is that my Class C is actually running inside of Class B, and Class B is what is returning the RESULT_CANCELED back to Class A. I just don't know a work around yet.

  Hi, I've developed an application to capture and save images to a database, but I'm having an issue with memory usage. On my domain object I have 3 properties: Image - Byte array, contents are a jpg RealImageThumb - The byte array converted to a BitmapImage and shrunk, displayed to the user in a gridview with other thumbnails RealImage - Has no setter, the byte array converted to a bitmap source, this is shown in a tooltip when the user hovers over it. The issue I have is that if a user hovers over each image in turn the memory usage spirals. I realise that as a user hovers over bitmap sources are generated and the memory isn't freed up, I've tried giving RealImage a backing property and assigning this to null after but again the memory isn't freed up (waiting for the garbage colelctor?.

• Labeling connections using Oracle Universal Connection Pool (UCP) doesn't seem to work

  I'm evaluating the Oracle Universal Connection Pool (UCP) included with their 11.2 JDBC driver, but cannot get the labeling functionality to work properly (which I'd like to use to minimize the amount of ALTER SESSION statements). I'm basically following their sample code to implement the ConnectionLabelingCallback interface. The callback method cost(Properties reqLabels, Properties currentLabels) is called as expected, so the callback seems to be configured correctly. However, the other callback method configure(Properties reqLabels, Object conn) is passed arguments that make it impossible to provide a meaningful implementation: reqLabels is always null, so the callback method has no way of knowing what labels need to be set. conn is of type oracle.jdbc.driver.T4CConnection, which cannot be cast to LabelableConnection, so the callback method has no way of inspecting or manipulating the labels attached to the connection. My code is running on Java 6 and using ojdbc6.jar and ucp.jar version 11.2.0.1.0. The database is actually 10.2, but that should not be a problem according to the docs, since the UCP functionality is completely implemented in the JDBC driver. Thanks in advance!

  Hi all, I have a table called Users (class User < ActiveRecord::Base) and a subclass/STI of it for Clients (class Client < User). Client "filtering" works as expected, in other words Client.find(:all) works to find all the clients. However, for users I need to filter the result to only find users that are NOT clients (where type is null or blank). I've tried the following in my index controller but no matter what I put for the type it returns all users regardless of type. User.find(:all, :conditions => { :type => nil }, :order => 'name') Any clue on how to get this condition to work? Thanks!

  Hi, i'm having trouble writing integration tests which use a fake repository, For example : Suppose I have a classroom entity, which aggregates students... var classroom = new Classroom(); classroom.Students.Add(new Student("Adam")); _fakeRepository.Save(classroom); _fakeRepostiory.GetAll<Student>().Where((student) => student.Name == "Adam")); // This query will return null... When using my real implementation for repository (NHibernate based), the above code works (because the save operation would cascade to the student added at the previous line), Do you know of any fake repository implementation which support this behaviour? • linq2sql - where to enlist transaction (repository or bll)?

  My app uses a business layer which calls a repository which uses linq to sql. I have an Item class that has an enum type property and an ItemDetail property. I need to implement a delete method that: (1) always delete the Item (2) if the item.type is XYZ and the ItemDetail is not null, delete the ItemDetail as well. My question is where should this logic be housed? If I have it in my business logic which I would prefer, this involves two separate repository calls, each of which uses a separate datacontext. I would have to wrap both calls is a System.Transaction which (in sql 2005) get promoted to a distributed transaction which is not ideal. I can move it all to a single repository call and the transaction will be handled implicitly by the datacontext but feel that this is really business logic so does not belong in the repository. Thoughts? Carrie
