  • Convert db data encoding to UTF-8

    Hi, I use Sql Server 2000 and I inserted some data in hebrew to a table. I need to access this data through an iPhone app using an ASP page that query the table. The problem is that in the iPhone app the Hebrew is shown as strange signs. I think my problem is that the data that is generated from my db isn't in UTF-8 but in USC-2 Any suggestions how to convert the data from my db to utf so it will be readable on the iPhone? 10x.

Now I could duplicate the data each quarter, keeping the price the same, but I'd rather use a view. How can I create a view that can be used to return prices for (for example) quarter 2?     I have a table which has approximately sixty tables, and other tables are added constantly. Each table is a part of a schema. A such quantity of tables makes it difficult to use Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 2008. For example, I must scroll up in object explorer to access database related functions, or scroll down each time I need to access Views or Security features. Is it possible to group several tables to be able to expand or collapse them in Object Explorer? Maybe a folder may be displayed for each schema, letting collapse the folders I don't need to use?

    Hello, I have a ManyToMany relationship between two classes: ClassA and ClassB, but when the table for this relationship (table called objectA_objectB) there is no primary key on it. In my ClassA I have the following: @ManyToMany(fetch=FetchType.LAZY) @OrderBy(value="name") @JoinTable(name="objectA_objectB", joinColumns= @JoinColumn(name="idObjectA", referencedColumnName="id"), inverseJoinColumns= @JoinColumn(name="idObjectB", referencedColumnName="id") ) private List<ClassB> objectsB; and in my ClassB I have the reversed relation @ManyToMany List<ClassA> objectsA; I just want to make a primary key of both id's but I need to change the name of the columns as I do. Why is the PK missing? How can I define it? I use JPA 2.0 Hibernate implementation, if this helps. Thanks.

But I'm having two problems: I want to display a messagebox to tell the user the contact was successfully added If the contact was not successfully added because A contact with this name already exists A different issue Then display a message box "Contact already exists" or "error occured" respectively. My idea of doing this is: If recSet.Update = true Then MsgBox "Paolo Bernasconi was successfully added" Else if RecSet![FName] & RecSet![LName] 'already exist in table MsgBox "Contact already exists" Else MsgBox "An unknown error occured" I know this code is wrong, and obviously doesn't work, but it's just to give you an idea of what I'm trying to achieve.     I have a MySQL InnoDB table with a status column. The status can be 'done' or 'processing'. As the table grows, at most .1% of the status values will be 'processing,' whereas the other 99.9% of the values will be 'done.' This seems like a great candidate for an index due to the high selectivity for 'processing' (though not for 'done'). Is it possible to create an index for the status column that only indexes the value 'processing'? I do not want the index to waste an enormous amount of space indexing 'done.'

When I issue statement -- select * from [linked server name].[database name].[dbo].[table name], error will be returned, Linked server "ZS" The OLE DB access interface "SQLNCLI10" returned "NON-CLUSTERED and NOT INTEGRATED "Index" ix_foo_basic_info_nf ", which is incorrect bookmark ordinal 0.     JQuery Dialog is giving me lots of pain lately. I have the following div which I want to be popped up. When the document loads, the <div #confirmation> is deleted from the markup! I had a similar issue earlier, but I cannot use that solution here. On this page I can have multiple PopUp divs. When I added the initialization in just before opening it; the form popped up. But after I close it, the div is removed; so I am not able to see the popup again.

    I have just begun to work with MS Moles for testing and I have followed the idea/pattern in which jcollum(thanks) uses a Mole for a table in this stackoverflow question here. But I am having a problem as I do not want to have to pass a connection string when I use the datasource as such: using (TheDataContext dataContext = new TheDataContext(myConnectionString)) { dataContext.ExecuteStoredprocedure(value, ref ValueExists); } I really like the fact that I just need to mole the table and everything else is done for me. I realize I could just mole the ExecuteStoredProcedure method, but I am wondering if I could just somehow avoid the sql exception I am getting here when I do not pass in the connection string. Or, if I there is a better way to do this? Therefore, does anyone have a solution so that I can avoid placing in the connection string? Thanks in advance.

    I have a problem with the Admin Generator. The Table of Pages have the column sf_guard_user_id. The rest of the table looks as this part of the generator.yml in the line display, list: title: Pages display: [=title, sfGuardUser, views, state, privacy, created_at, updated_at] sort: [created_at, desc] fields: sfGuardUser: { label: Author } created_at: { label: Published, date_format: dd.MM.y } updated_at: { label: Updated, date_format: dd.MM.y } table_method: retrieveUserList Now the sf_guard_user_id is been replaced and the username ist displayed. Don't get me wrong, that works fine. But how can I get other variables from the sfGuarsUser relation? When I only add salt or another variable to display I get this, Unknown record property / related component "salt" on "simplePage" But why?

  • C# dbml stops linking tables to code

    I am having occasional trouble with my C# dbml where it starts not linking properly. I do not know how to replicate the exact cause of the problem, it was working perfectly until I changed a database table and then deleted the table and readded it with the new schema. The error message I get is "The type or namespace name 'tbl' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) The only fix I have found is to make a new dbml readd the tables. Any ideas what to do or why this is happening?

We need to center our pages on widescreen machines, so we have a master page layout div like so: .MasterLayout { width:1100px; height: 100%; position:absolute; left:50%; margin-left:-550px; vertical-align:top; } I removed most of the detailed attributes for readability here, but here's how the table for the master page is laid out: <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="width: 100%;"> <tr> <td style="width: 100%" align="center" colspan="2"> </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" style="height: 20px; background-color: #333;"> <asp:SiteMapPath/> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="width: 86px; height: 650px; background-color: #B5C7DE; margin: 6px;" valign="top"> <asp:Menu /> <asp:SiteMapDataSource /> </td> <td style="background-color:#ffffff; margin:5px; width:1000px;" valign="top"> <asp:contentplaceholder id="ContentPlaceHolder1" runat="server"/> </td> </tr> </table> When resizing the browser window, the horizontal scrollbar only reaches as far as the left edge of the <asp:contentplaceholder/> control, and the <asp:menu/> that's in the 86px wide <td> is hidden.     Hi All, I've got a method that returns a List for a DataSet table public static List<string> GetListFromDataTable(DataSet dataSet, string tableName, string rowName) { int count = dataSet.Tables[tableName].Rows.Count; List<string> values = new List<string>(); // Loop through the table and row and add them into the array for (int i = 0; i < count; i++) { values.Add(dataSet.Tables[tableName].Rows[i][rowName].ToString()); } return values; } Is there a way I can dynamically set the datatype for the list and have this one method cater for all datatypes so I can specify upon calling this method that it should be a List<int or List<string> or List<AnythingILike>? Also, what would the return type be when declaring the method? Thanks in advance, Brett

  • Pros and cons of programmatically enforcing foreign key than in database

    It is causing so much trouble in terms of development just by letting database enforcing foreign key. Especially during unit test I can’t drop table due to foreign key constrains, I need to create table in such an order that foreign key constrain warning won’t get triggered. In reality I don’t see too much point of letting database enforcing the foreign key constrains. If the application has been properly designed there should not be any manual database manipulation other than select queries. I just want to make sure that I am not digging myself into a hole by not having foreign key constrains in database and leaving it solely to the application’s responsibility. Am I missing anything? P.S. my real unit tests (not those that use mocking) will drop existing tables if the structure of underlying domain object has been modified.

Say I have the following tables in my database: Users: - UserID (PK, Identity) - UserName - Password UsersDetails: - UserID (PK, FK) - FirstName - LastName I have created the following poco classes: public class User { public virtual int UserID { get; set; } public virtual string UserName { get; set; } public virtual string Password { get; set; } public virtual UserDetails Details { get; set; } } public class UserDetails { public virtual int UserID { get; set; } public virtual User User { get; set; } public virtual string FirstName { get; set; } public virtual string LastName { get; set; } public UserDetails() { } public UserDetails(User user) { User = user; } } Which are fluently mapped (please note the xml mapping is very similar and if all you know is the xml mapping then I would still appreciate you guidance): public class UserMap : ClassMap<User> { public UserMap() { Table("Users"); Id(x => x.UserID); Map(x => x.UserName); Map(x => x.Password); HasOne(x => x.Details) .Constrained() .Cascade.All(); } } public class UserDetailsMap : ClassMap<UserDetails> { public UserDetailsMap() { Table("UsersDetails"); Id(x => x.UserID) .GeneratedBy.Foreign("User"); HasOne(x => x.User) .Constrained(); Map(x => x.FirstName); Map(x => x.LastName); } } Everything displays correctly but if I say: var user = new User() { UserName = "Test", Password = "Test" }; user.Details = new UserDetails(user) { FirstName = "Test", LastName = "Test" }; session.Save(user); I get the error: "NHibernate.Id.IdentifierGenerationException: null id generated for: UserDetails."
