• Will using two different tracking codes affect my SERP

  Hello everyone and thanks for your time! I am now facing a problem after a site migration. New site is basically an improved version of old site, with the same content and some extras. After pointing the domain name to the new site, the old site was still online for a while but didn't get any traffic. The new site has its own tracking code. So, old tracking code has age (something like 7 years) but no visitors for a month, but new tracking code is a month old with an acceptable traffic. How to you think google will react if I add old tracking code to new site? Thanks by advance!

• Moving large amounts of data between shared hosts

  I recently acquired a client who is a photographer and was interested in moving web hosts since his current host had threatened to throw him off due to CPU spiking. The migration went fairly easily, with about 350MBs of website and media files. Then I discovered about 60GBs of client galleries he had failed to mention. I am unable to move this much data myself, since I'm capping out at about 20kb/s on the FTP connection. Has anyone encountered a situation where they needed to migrate this much data between cheap hosting? Should we contact the hosting companies about this (he is moving from Westhost to MediaTemple)?

  I've already went through all possible advices and still cannot start my Atheros AR9285 wireless card. I have a laptop Toshiba Portege Z830 where the WiFi already worked under Windows 7. But after migration on Ubuntu 12.10. I'm not able get it work.   I have been working with Database Development and the aspects that come with it, the pain and the joy of moving from Dev to QA and then on to Production.  Source Control has a place in Dev, and that is where the baselines should be established. Where am I going with this? I have been working with Redgate’s Source Control 3.0, and I am seeing some features that are great for the process of moving from Dev to … well something that allows for quite a level of control.  We are not only talking about scripting the structure of a database, but creating a baseline, working with migration scripts, and integrated with Redgate’s Schema Compare.  There is a detailed paper that will be posted here in the next day or so to provide step by step information of the process to define your baseline in Dev and then take it to the desired destination. In the meantime, check the Webinars Redgate has regarding this process and products.

Outre le fait qu'analyser à l'avance sa situation permet d'éviter les futurs problèmes d'une migration décidée à la hâte, les signes de la fin annoncée de Windows XP se multiplient. On l'oublie peut-être trop souvent, mais Windows XP est un OS vieux de déjà 9 ans qui va bientôt atteindre la limite des 10 années traditionnelles de support fournies par Microsoft.

  When Sun released Solaris 10, it was my first migration phase to a new Solaris major release while being part of Sun. At that time i heard a lot of comments between "Oh, we will install it on new systems on day 1" to "oh ... not that fast ... we will wait ... we are not that fast ... we will do it in a year". I would like to get some additional insight and so i set up the poll plugin for s9y to get the answer to the question "How long will you wait before using Solaris 11 on production system?". • Application versioning

  Haven't find similar issue so sorry if thats a duplicate. I'm about to start a migration of an already existing project from one web container version to the another. Currently, the application version is 2.2.5. Business requirement is to deliver a 3.0 version by the end of the year. Additional constraint is to release a working, stable version by the end of Q3. We are about to work in 2-weeks sprints and I'm wondering how can I approach the problem? I was thinking about releasing 2.3 by the end of Q2, then immediately promoting it as 3.0-a1, work on alphas (3.0-a2, 3.0-a3, ...) till the end of Q3, to start with 3.0-b1 in the early Q4 and finally release 3.0 around December. I don't feel comfortable saying that the application is already in 3.0 state in July, but I can't see other options. If you find some book chapters/blogs or your personal experience interesting please share your opinion.

  I just removed the poll at 10:52, so this is the final result: My conclusions out of it: While the removal of UltraSPARC I to VI+ support in Solaris 11 may hit some of the people voting in the categories "Wait?" to "6 month", most of the users keep Solaris 10 running on their existing system anyway or migrate that late that even the newest system have reached their end-of-service-live or are near of it, so a migration doesn't sound that feasible. So i assume Product Management was right with their decision to remove the support in order to make the feature i can't talk of possible, as i don't think that many of the early migrators are still using the system in question, as most systems have reached EOSL. Didn't thought that there would be people waiting three years and more ...
