  • Refresh a jQuery function

    Is possible refresh a function every x seconds or refresh it on single event? I explain: I have a function that make pagination on my website, inside every div that are "pages" I have some pictures where I have added LightBox. Everything works nice on the first div (page) but when I change the page it doesnt' work anymore. I tried to fix in this way: $('.pagination a').click(function () { initShadow(); }); In this way it work on the pageLoad and on the first page that I change, than it stop again. So I need to fix this issue, everytime I change the "page" I would like it works fine. Is possible to refresh a function every x second or to refresh it everytime I click on the pagination buttons?

    Hi, I want to attach a function to a jQuery element that fires whenever the element is added to the page. I've tried the following, but it didn't work: var el = jQuery('<h1>HI HI HI</H1>'); el.one('load', function(e) { window.alert('loaded'); }); jQuery('body').append(el); What I really want to do is to guarantee that another jQuery function that is expecting some #id to be at the page don't fail, so I want to call that function whenever my element is loaded in the page. To clarify, I am passing the el element to another library (in this case it's a movie player but it could be anything else) and I want to know when the el element is being added to the page, whether its my movie player code that it is adding the element or anyting else.

    I've huge a table (a few billion rows) with a clustered index and two non-clustered indices. A BULK INSERT operation produces 112000 reads and only 383 writes (duration 19948ms). It's very confusing to me. Why do reads exceed writes?     Hi all, I came across this issue or maybe something I didn't realize but I did a Begin Tran and had some code inside it and never ran a commit or rollback as I forgot about it. That caused all many of the database queries or even just a simple select top 1000 command were just sitting on loading..? Now it probably has put some locks on the tables I guess since it did not let me query them..but I just wanted to know what exactly happened and what are the practices to be followed here ?

    I've been getting several errors: cannot add an entity with a key that is already in use An attempt has been made to attach or add an entity that is not new, perhaps having been loaded from another datacontext In case 1, this stems from trying to set the key for an entity versus the entity. In case 2, I'm not attaching an entity but I am doing this: MyParent.Child = EntityFromOtherDataContext; I've been using using the pattern of wrap everything with a using datacontext. In my case, I am using this in a web forms scenario, and obviously moving the datacontext object to a class wide member variables solves this. My questions are thus 2 fold: How can I get rid of these errors and not have to structure my program in an odd way or pass the datacontext around while keeping the local-wrap pattern? I assume I could make another hit to the database but that seems very inefficient. Would most people recommend that moving the datacontext to the class wide scope is desirable for web pages?

I have the following table: | ItemID | Date | ------------------------- | 1 | 01.01.10 | | 1 | 03.01.10 | | 1 | 05.01.10 | | 1 | 06.01.10 | | 1 | 10.01.10 | | 2 | 05.01.10 | | 2 | 10.01.10 | | 2 | 20.01.10 | Now I want to GROUP BY ItemID and for the date I want to get the value, which excesses 60%. What I mean is, that for item 1 I've five rows, so each have a percentage of 20% and for item 2 I've three row, so each have a percentage of 33,33%. So for item 1 I need the 3rd and for item 2 the 2nd value, so that the result looks like that. | ItemID | Date | ------------------------- | 1 | 06.01.10 | | 2 | 10.01.10 | Is there a easy way so get this data?     I want to create a function apply that takes a function with an arbitrary amount of arguments as well as a list of integers, and returns the result of the function (Where each integer in the list is an argument in order. I was thinking something like: apply :: ([Int] -> Int) -> [Int] -> Int apply f x:xs = apply (f x) xs apply f [] = f But I know this won't work because the type signature is wrong - the function doesn't take a list of ints, it just takes some amount of int arguments. Additionally, when I get to the base case the f argument to apply should actually be an integer, violating the type signature anyway. Does anyone know how to deal with this sort of problem?

    Hi all, I have a system whereby a user can view categories that they've subscribed to individually, and also those that are available in the region they belong in by default. So, the tables are as follows: Categories UsersCategories RegionsCategories I'm querying the db for all the categories within their region, and also all the individual categories that they've subscribed to. My query is as follows: Select * FROM (categories c) LEFT JOIN users_categories uc on uc.category_id = c.id LEFT JOIN regions_categories rc on rc.category_id = c.id WHERE (rc.region_id = ? OR uc.user_id = ?) At least I believe that's the query, I'm creating it using Cake's ORM layer, so the exact one is: $conditions = array( array( "OR" => array ( 'RegionsCategories.region_id' => $region_id, 'UsersCategories.user_id' => $user_id ) )); $this->find('all', $conditions); This turns out to be incredibly slow (sometimes around 20 seconds or so. Each table has around 5,000 rows). Is my design at fault here? How can I retrieve both the users' individual categories and those within their region all in one query without it taking ages? Thanks!

Why does this function constantly raise this exception?

The function is designed to be called by itself (getch), with an optional -s flag (getch -s), or with an optional string argument afterward (so getch master and getch -s master are both valid).     When there are multiple PHP scripts running in parallel, each making an UPDATE query to the same record in the same table repeatedly, is it possible for there to be a 'lag time' before the table is updated with each query? I have basically 5-6 instances of a PHP script running in parallel, having been launched via cron. Each script gets all the records in the items table, and then loops through them and processes them. However, to avoid processing the same item more than once, I store the id of the last item being processed in a seperate table. So this is how my code works: function getCurrentItem() { $sql = "SELECT currentItemId from settings"; $result = $this->db->query($sql); return $result->get('currentItemId'); } function setCurrentItem($id) { $sql = "UPDATE settings SET currentItemId='$id'"; $this->db->query($sql); } $currentItem = $this->getCurrentItem(); $sql = "SELECT * FROM items WHERE status='pending' AND id > $currentItem'"; $result = $this->db->query($sql); $items = $result->getAll(); foreach ($items as $i) { //Check if $i has been processed by a different instance of the script, and if so, //leave it untouched. if ($this->getCurrentItem() > $i->id) continue; $this->setCurrentItem($i->id); // Process the item here } But despite of all the precautions, most items are being processed more than once. Which makes me think that there is some lag time between the update queries being run by the PHP script, and when the database actually updates the record. Is it true? And if so, what other mechanism should I use to ensure that the PHP scripts always get only the latest currentItemId even when there are multiple scripts running in parrallel? Would using a text file instead of the db help?

You have to use HttpContext.Current.Request.QueryString("Query") in order to get it from a shared function, however doing HttpContext.Current.Request.QueryString.Count gives back 0, which obviously isn't right in my case as there's many that exist. Is there some sort of issue with using this static call from a shared function?

  • Use queried json data in a function

    I have a code similar to this: $.ajax({ success: function(data) { text = ''; for (var i = 0; i< data.length; i++) { text = text + '<a href="#" id="Data_'+ i +'">' + data[i].Name + "</a><br />"; } $("#SomeId").html(text); for (var i = 0; i< data.length; i++) { $("#Data_"+i).click(function() { alert(data[i]); RunFunction(data[i]); return false; }); } } }); This gets an array of some data in json format, then iterates through this array generating a link for each entry. Now I want to add a function for each link that will run a function that does something with this data. The problem is that the data seems to be unavailable after the ajax success function is called (although I thought that they behave like closures). What is the best way to use the queried json data later on? (I think setting it as a global variable would do the job, but I want to avoid that, mainly because this ajax request might be called multiple times) Thanks.

    i am currently building a system in MSSQL 2K5. i have a table that holds information about certain insurance schemes such as overheads and other things. these values will change occasionally and currently i administer the database straight through the management Studio. i would like to build a simple interface that will allow my colleagues to change these values by selecting the company in a dropdown and the current values will populate. they can then edit these values and submit them to the database. is this possible in the current Visual Studio supplied with MSSQL server 2K5 or do i need to get another product. i am confident that with the help of stack overflow and google i can build this myself, but i need pointed in the right direction as to which environment would be easiest and best to start building it.
