• "macros have been disabled" message in Word 2007 but no macros

  Hi there, I open a .doc file in Word 2007 (sorry I am unable to supply the .doc) which pops up with a message above the document "Security warning: Macros have been disabled" but there are no macros shown in the macros listing and no functionality displayed in the VBScript editor. Why does Word think this document contains macros and how can I remove them to prevent the warning? Thanks, Tom

• Free-as-in-beer binary file format inspector

  I am looking for a utility that gives me the ability to specify a binary file format and then interpret a file of bytes according to that format. (Something along the lines of the 010 Editor, but infinitely more cost-effective). Something that runs on Mac OS X would be preferred, but I'm interested to see what all is out there in general (while more of a hassle I'd be willing to run a tool on Windows if it were superior.) What's your preference?

  An Excel XLSX file is a zip archive containing several XML files. I tried to extract all the XML files, and edit xl\connections.xml using an XML editor. That's because I have to change 20+ connections to point to a different server. When I open the edited archive in Excel, it refuses the changes and repairs the file. Is there a way to edit the XML files inside an XML archive?

I am wondering what is the backspace key of Mac (i.e. which is used to delete the character previous to current cursor position in text editor)?   I have a Windows application which is deadware, and it lacks the option of exporting data into a file. The only way to extract data is to copy each line into the clipboard, and paste it in an editor. As a work-around, I'm thinking of recording the action once, and loop through it until it reaches the last line in the application. I know there are quite a few such utilities for Windows, so I'd appreciate it if you could recommend one for this task. Thank you.

I would like to combine several separate web pages so that for example, web-page-a, web-page-b and web-page-c (each less than one print page long) are printed on a single sheet of paper.   Specifically, I'm trying to install NERDtree. I downloaded the 4.10 package from github, unzipped it into ~/.vim/, and restarted MacVim (version 7.3).
