  • NetworkActivityIndicator not working the same on iPhone and Simulator?

    I am using the NetworkActivityIndicator to show that my App is doing some work. When I run the app in the simulator, it shows the way I want - basically spinning the entire time until the selected tab loads the data from the server - but when I put the app onto my phone, I only get a split-second of the spinner before it disappears. Usually only spins right before the view appears on the screen. Ideas?

I have a problem using a view to retrieve a document by key: curl http://127.0.0.1:5984/basic/_design/example/_view/by_date?key="2009/01/15 15:52:20" gives the reply: curl: (52) Empty reply from server but just retrieving all rows: curl http://127.0.0.1:5984/basic/_design/example/_view/by_date gives me 3 rows including the specific row I am looking for: {"id":"hello-world","key":"2009/01/15 15:52:20","value":"Hello World"} why doesn't the key query work? I am using CouchDB version 0.10.0 on Ubuntu 9.10

  • Pound symbol not displaying on web page

    Hello I have a mysql database table to store country name and currency symbol - the CHARSET has correctly set to UTF8. This is example data inserted into the table insert into country ( country_name, currency_name, currency_code, currency_symbol) values ('UK','Pounds','GBP','£'); When I look in the database - the pound symbol appears fine - but when I retrieve it from the database and display it on the website - a weird square symbol shows up with a question mark inside instead of the pound symbol.     I have a dilemma. I've used DI (read: factory) to provide core components for a homebrew ORM. The container provides database connections, DAO's,Mappers and their resultant Domain Objects on request. Here's a basic outline of the Mappers and Domain Object classes class Mapper{ public function __constructor($DAO){ $this->DAO = $DAO; } public function load($id){ if(isset(Monitor::members[$id]){ return Monitor::members[$id]; $values = $this->DAO->selectStmt($id); //field mapping process omitted for brevity $Object = new Object($values); return $Object; } } class User(){ public function setName($string){ $this->name = $string; //mark modified by means fair or foul } } The ORM also contains a class (Monitor) based on the Unit of Work pattern i.e. class Monitor(){ private static array modified; private static array dirty; public function markClean($class); public function markModified($class); } The ORM class itself simply co-ordinates resources extracted from the DI container. So, to instantiate a new User object: $Container = new DI_Container; $ORM = new ORM($Container); $User = $ORM->load('user',1); //at this point the container instantiates a mapper class //and passes a database connection to it via the constructor //the mapper then takes the second argument and loads the user with that id $User->setName('Rumpelstiltskin');//at this point, User must mark itself as "modified" My question is this. At the point when a user sets values on a Domain Object class, I need to mark the class as "dirty" in the Monitor class. I have one of three options as I can see it 1: Pass an instance of the Monitor class to the Domain Object. I noticed this gets marked as recursive in FirePHP - i.e. $this-Monitor-markModified($this) 2: Instantiate the Monitor directly in the Domain Object - does this break DI? 3: Make the Monitor methods static, and call them from inside the Domain Object - this breaks DI too doesn't it? What would be your recommended course of action (other than use an existing ORM, I'm doing this for fun...)

Now I am trying to create a second view that allows me to automatically show a two-way comparisons of two such trees. I found various views for textual comparison within Eclipse, but I could not find an easy way to show the structural differences between two arbitrary trees. Any thoughts?

    An OnItemClickListener for a ListView has the following method: @Override public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> parent, View v, int position, long id) I'd like to have the adapter behind the ListView refresh, and I believe this is done through the use of: BaseAdapter.notifyDataSetChanged() How do I use the parent parameter in the onItemClick method to do this? So far I've tried: parent.getAdapter().notifyDataSetChanged(); This throws an error because the object returned is of class HeaderViewListAdapter, which for reasons unknown isn't a subclass of BaseAdapter.

    Hi, The default patch file viewer is messy (ie. no side by side diff view etc). I tried setting the path of beyondCompare exe in "Settings-Unified Diff Viewer-custom", but beyond compare also behaves same as default diff tool. Is there a way to atleast allow side by side diff in patch files ? If so, what is the method ? My aim is to allow emailing of changes so that they can be reviewed before I commit them :) Mishal

    The default behavior of a UITabBarController is to pop the contained UINavigationController to the root view controller when a particular tab is tapped a second time. I have a particular use case where I'm wanting this to not work automatically, and I'm having a hard time figuring out how to prevent this. Has anyone run into this, and if so, what did you do? Do I need to subclass UINavigationController and override popToRootViewController or is there a simpler way?

My question is Isn't it easier to use a pure Object Oriented database in development applications? Why Object Oriented database are not as much diffuse as relational? From my point of view makes sense to use OO database, the latter will avoid the numerous construction necessary for the mapping of complex objects on the tables.
