Currently apple replaces the ADC with mac and that program wont allow for free ticket.   I'm doing some work on the input buffers for my kernel, and I had some questions. On Dual Core machines, I know that more than one "process" can be running simultaneously. What I don't know is how the OS and the individual programs work to protect collisions in data. There are two things I'd like to know on this topic: (1) Where do interrupts occur? Are they guaranteed to occur on one core and not the other, and could this be used to make sure that real-time operations on one core were not interrupted by, say, file IO which could be handled on the other core? (I'd logically assume that the interrupts would happen on the 1st core, but is that always true, and how would you tell? Or perhaps does each core have its own settings for interrupts? Wouldn't that lead to a scenario where each core could react simultaneously to the same interrupt, possibly in different ways?) (2) How does the dual core processor handle opcode memory collision? If one core is reading an address in memory at exactly the same time that another core is writing to that same address in memory, what happens? Is an exception thrown, or is a value read? (I'd assume the write would work either way.) If a value is read, is it guaranteed to be either the old or new value at the time of the collision? I understand that programs should ideally be written to avoid these kinds of complications, but the OS certainly can't expect that, and will need to be able to handle such events without choking on itself.

• cakephp Activation Email Sending slow

  Hi all, I have a simple email sender for user account activation. Depending on which email address I use, I get significantly different response times: University email - 1 minute, Gmail - 3-4 hours, Yahoo - 1 or 2 days -- which seems bizarre. Has anyone else seen this phenomenon? EDIT: There weren't many responses (even for a bounty), but I'll try to explain my problem more clearly. This probably isn't greylsting -- If I so a simple: php mail ($to, $subject, $body) // this delivers instantly.   Hi, i started to try reverse debugging with gdb 7, followin the tutorial: http://www.sourceware.org/gdb/wiki/ProcessRecord/Tutorial and I thought, great! Then I started to debug a real program which gives an error at the end. So I run it with gdb, and I put a breakpoint just before the place I think the error appears. Then I type "record" in order to start to recrd actions for future reverse-debugging. But after some steps I get Process record doesn't support instruction 0xf0d at address 0x2aaaab4c4b4e. Process record: failed to record execution log. Program received signal SIGTRAP, Trace/breakpoint trap. 0x00002aaaab4c4b4e in memcpy () from /lib64/libc.so.6 (gdb) n Single stepping until exit from function memcpy, which has no line number information. Process record doesn't support instruction 0xf0d at address 0x2aaaab4c4b4e. Process record: failed to record execution log. • Web form is not updating tables, why?

  I have a web application and on page is an update page to update some profile information. Below is the code I am using to update the table. But I think it is wrong. Does anything stick out? The connection string works cause it is used to read the database to get the profile information, I just removed it due to it containing password/login info for the db. player is the class of properties that contains player information and ds is the dataset, but I would like to update the database itself online... • Free-as-in-beer binary file format inspector

  I am looking for a utility that gives me the ability to specify a binary file format and then interpret a file of bytes according to that format. (Something along the lines of the 010 Editor, but infinitely more cost-effective). Something that runs on Mac OS X would be preferred, but I'm interested to see what all is out there in general (while more of a hassle I'd be willing to run a tool on Windows if it were superior.) What's your preference?

• Authorize.net Parameters with activemerchant

  I'm using authorize.net and activemerchant in a rails app. When I make a purchase authorize.net sends back an email with information about the purchase. I should be able to send them the billing and shipping address information and have that returned in the email, but it's not returning any of the information, obviously I've got the varable names wrong, anybody know what they should be? I've been pouring over the authorize.net api docs and activemerchant's but can't find what I need. • X-server for Windows CE

  Hi folks, I'm trying to run an app from a remote X session (Ubuntu, 9.04) on a handheld device powered by Windows Mobile. I want to do this by running an X-server of some description on the mobile device and using SSH/PocketPuTTY or similar for a tunnel, as you'd do it on a standard PC/Mac. Can anyone pls. point me in the direction of some X servers for Windows Mobile, if they exist? Having a hard time finding them. Cheers

I have written a custom search page that provides faster, more user friendly searches than the default Contacts view and also allows searching of Leads and Contacts simultaneously. It uses GridViews bound to SqlDataSources that query filtered views. I'm sure someone will complain that I'm not using the web services for this, but this is just the design decision we made. These GridViews live in UpdatePanels to enable very slick AJAX updates upon search. It's all working great. I just needed to wrap my databind calls in try/catch blocks to capture any errors. Unfortunately it seems CRM's IIS configuration has the magic ability to capture this error before it ever gets back to my code. Using the debugger I never see it. It never gets to my catch blocks, but it's clearly happening in the SQL Data Source which is clearly (by the stack trace) being triggered by my GridView bind. Any ideas on this? It's driving me crazy. • Emailing smtp with Python error

  I can't figure out why this isn't working. I'm trying to send an email from my school email address with this code I got online. The same code works for sending from my GMail address. Does anyone know what this error means?   After reading a few enlightening articles about memory in the .NET technology, Out of Memory does not refer to physical memory, 597499. I thought I understood why a C# app would throw an out of memory exception -- until I started experimenting with two servers-- both are having 2.5 gigs of ram, windows server 2003 and identical programs running. The only significant difference between the two being one has 7% hard drive storage left and the other more than 50%. The server with 7% storage space left is consistently throwing an out of memory while the other is performing consistently well. My app is a C# web application that process' hundreds of MBs of String object. Why would this difference happen seeing that the most likely reason for the out of memory issue is out of contiguous virtual address space -- What solutions do you guys propose -- and what do you say about the following 1. turn on the 3gb switch to increase the virtual address space -- 2. instead of using one giant string object, break it up into smaller pieces and collect it in a jagged array (here I have to find a way to return to the caller in some other way as right now, the return type is a string) thanks SO

• Getting a users Facebook profile url

  I am creating a registry site so similar people can find each other easily. I don't want to use Facebook Connect as the primary log in method or use Facebook to store their information. I'll be creating a database on my end to store that info. For security reasons I won't be displaying the users address, phone number or email address so I wanted to provide the next best way for people to connect with each other, this is where Facebook comes in. Normally I would just ask them to type their Facebook URL in a text box but I don't think most people know what their url is which is why I think I need to use Facebook Connect. So here is my idea..when the users signs up there is a check box that when checked signifies they are allowing people to find them on Facebook. I assume once they click the register button that a Facebook Connect popup will show up asking for permission to access their Facebook account. When they "allow" it, then I can get their profile url. All I need is their Facebook profile url, I don't want any other Facebook features or information. Is Facebook Connect the best thing to use for this scenario? Is there an easier way? Several months ago on the Facebook Connect site their used to be examples of doing this, but all the documentation has been rearranged and changed and I can't seem to find the information. Any help you can provide would be great!
