  • Separate tables or single table with queries?

    I'm making an employee information database. I need to handle separated employees. Should I a. set up a query with a macro to send separated employees to a separate table, or b. just add a flag to the single table denoting separation? I understand that it's best practice to take choice b, and the one reason I can think of for this is that any structural changes I make to the table later will have to be done in both places. But it also seems like setting up a flag forces me to filter out that flag for basically every useful query I'm going to make in the future.

  • How come transparency in textures appears as white in 3ds Max?

    I have downloaded a free tree palm model that came with textures and a preview image. In the preview image the tree looks fine, but when I have deployed the textures to my scene, the leaves look green plus white, where white is the transparency area. Is there something I need to know about transparent textures? Both in the view-port and in the renderer all transparency appears as white. What could it be? Edit: The model I was talking about is implemented with two JPGs. One is textured and the other one is black-white where white represents transparency and is applied to the material in the opacity channel/map. The transparency seems to work somewhat, but there are white borders around the leaves. I think it's because the opacity channel does not properly filter out all white colors for some reason. It also seems that changing the blur affects it, but setting it to 0 does not remove it though (and makes it jaggy).

  • Can this auto-stretcing scenario be realized undex XHTML/CSS?

    I want two horizontal areas in my webpage. The first one is the menu. It's on the top. Unfortunately I don't know its size, and it might change in response to user actions. Below the menu is the main area which should stretch at least as far as the bottom of the window (if there is little content) or beyond (if there is a lot of content. To illustrate with ASCII art: +----------------------------------------------------+ | This area resizes vertically depending on contents | +----------------------------------------------------+ | This area stretches to the bottom of the window, | | but can be even larger if necessary.     I have image before and after h1. However, I need to position it as following: h1 text should be in the center h1 before image should start at the left side of container h1 after image should end at the right side of container I cannot get all of them. For example, I can center h1 text, but then h1 before and h1 after images are not aligned correctly.   • How do I swallow the dropdown behavior inside an Expander.Header?

    Hello, I would like to prevent an Expander from expanding/collapsing when users click inside the header area. This is basically the same question as Q 1396153, but I'd appreciate a more favorable answer :) Is there a non-invasive way to do this? I am not sure exactly how to attach behavior to the Expander.Header content to prevent mouseclicks. I'm willing to float in content outside the expander itself via a fixed grid layout, but I'm not keen on the solution. Ideas?     Thus far we've been using the combination of Forefront TMG 2010 as an edge firewall + intrusion prevention system + web site publishing mechanism in the data center to work with a few web server machines. Since we develop on ASP.NET, we are IIS and in general - Microsoft crowd. Since TMG is being deprecated, we need to come up with a hardware alternative to protect and serve our data center web cloud. Could you please advise a hardware or virtual appliance solution that can provide routing, flood prevention and smart web-site publishing (one IP - many web sites based on domain name filter) all in one. Even if it is hard to configure, as long as it covers all these features, we will invest to learn and replace TMG eventually.

(I've tried setting e.Handled to true on the GroupBox, but then its content doesn't pick up the mousedown anymore either.)

  • DHCPPloc.exe or equivalent for Windows 7?

    There seems to be some DHCP funnyness going on so I need to run something to show me what's going at a DHCP level. Before I upgraded my machine to Windows 7 I used DHCPloc.exe from the Windows XP support tools, and it worked like a charm. I can't seem to find Support Tools for Windows 7, and trying to use the XP tools in compatibility mode doesn't work (I tried, it fails to open a receiving socket). I need a tool to monitor DHCP traffic, and ideally one that lets me filter it to exclude DHCP traffic from our trusted DHCP servers and only show me un-authorised DHCP traffic.

    I'm trying to insert an image in the footer of my document using iText's onCloseDocument event. I have the following code: public void onCloseDocument(PdfWriter writer, Document document) { PdfContentByte pdfByte = writer.getDirectContent(); try { // logo is a non-null global variable Image theImage = new Jpeg(logo); pdfByte.addImage(theImage, 400.0f, 0.0f, 0.0f, 400.0f, 0.0f, 0.0f); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } The code throws no exceptions, but it also fails to insert the image. This identical code is used onOpenDocument to insert the same logo. The only difference between the two methods are the coordinates in pdfByte.addImage. However, I've tried quite a few different coordinations in onCloseDocument and none of them appear anywhere in my document. Is there any troubleshooting technique for detecting content which is displayed off-page in a PDF? If not, can anyone see the problem with my onCloseDocument method? Edit: As a followup, it seems that onDocumentClose puts its content on page document.length() + 1 (according to its API). However, I don't know how to change the page number back to document.length() and place my logo on the last page.

    I am sending AJAX GET-requests to a PHP application and would like to cache the request returns for later use. Since I am using GET this should be possible because different requests request different URLs (e.g. getHTML.php?page=2 and getHTML.php?page=5). What headers do I need to declare in the PHP-application to make the clients browser cache the request URL content in a proper way? Do I need to declare anything in the Javascript which handles the AJAX-request (I am using jQuery's $.ajax function which has a cache parameter)? How would I handle edits which change the content of e.g. getHTML.php?page=2 so that the client doesn't fall back to the cached version? Adding another parameter to the GET request e.g. getHTML.php?page=2&version=2 is not possible because the link to the requested URL is created automatically without any checking (which is preferably the way I want it to be). How will the browser react when I try to AJAX-request a cached request URL? Will the AJAX-request return success immediately? Thanks Willem

  • IIS URL Rewriting: How can I reliably keep relative paths when serving multiple files?

    My WebApp is part CMS, and when I serve up an HTML page to the user it typically contains relative paths in a.href and img.src attributes. I currently have them accessed by urls like: ~/get-data.aspx/instance/user/page.html -- where instance indicates the particular instance for the report and "user/page.html" is a path created by an external application that generates the content. This works pretty reliably with code in the application's BeginRequest method that translates the text after ".aspx" into a query string, then uses Context.RewritePath(). So far so good, but I've just tripped over something that took me by surprise: it appears that if any of the query string ("instance/user/page.html") happens to contain a plus sign ("+") the BeginRequest method is never called, and a 404 is immediately returned to the user. So my question is two-fold: Am I correct in my belief that a "+" would cause the 404, and if so are there other things that could cause similar problems? Is there a way around that problem (perhaps a different method than BeginRequest)? Is there a better way to preserve relative URL paths for generated content than what I'm using? I'd rather not require site admins to install a 3rd party rewrite tool if I can help it.

    Lately I have been watching Pluralsight intro videos on MVC 3. I have never worked with the Model View Control approach before, but I'm starting to understand how these 3 crucial parts of an app are separated. I created a front-end prototype of a survey I would like to implement into a View of my MVC web app. The survey is in HTML, CSS, using jQuery to deliver content changes depending on the type of evaluation (6-11 questions), and jQuery UI for a couple slider ratings. I noticed through tutorials that you can use an HTML form and helpers that allow the user to edit content, but my prototype already allows the users to rate via radio buttons, comment text boxes, and sliders. Would I need to change any of my existing code if I just want to store this employee data to the Model, and depending on what survey's the employee has completed through the Controller, disable drop down fields? Also, would I store the current employee data on submit of survey through an HttpPost in the Controller to the Model? My apologies if my questions seem rather vague.     I'm using jQuery UI tabs functionality to load tab content via Ajax. But I need to load the tabs only once. At the first request. <div id="tabContainer"> <ul> <li><a href="/Home/Tab1">Tab1</a></li> <li><a href="/Home/Tab2">Tab2</a></li> <li><a href="/Home/Tab3">Tab3</a></li> </ul> </div> I hooked up the select event. I'm able to see if the content is already loaded or not.But I'm missng the point how to stop jQuery from sending the request. $("#tabs").tabs({ select: function(event, ui) { if (ui.panel.innerHTML != '') { //What to do here to stop jQuery from sending the request. return; } } });

  • Is there a free tool/package that can monitor web traffic and display URLS accessed? [closed]

    I couldn't find a similar question but then maybe I am searching for the wrong terms. A few years ago I used a router like device, I'm pretty sure it was a SonicWall, that did this on a clients site. Basically all traffic would be routed through this device and it allowed the manager/administrator to inspect web usage of the workers, determine how often certain resources were accessed and block them if necessary (much like content filter). It showed reports based on domain name reached etc. Facebbok.com, Bebo.com and so on. It also displayed the usual IP traffic information etc. it was a UTM also. I have tried Endian firewall, with it's NTOP install, but I don't think that will show URLs browsed. Maybe I just haven't found it in NTOP yet? I need this to troubleshoot connection and traffic issue at my home, with about twenty devices/users so didn't want to buy a dedicated solution and have spare hardware to use a community product.

  • Write to file depending on minSdkVersion - android

    Hi, I have written a filewriter for my android application. It is to function on a Galaxy Tab, so my minSdkVersion has to be at least 4, so it will fill the screen. I originally started out with SdkVersion = 2 and at that point my filewriter worked perfectly. Changing the SdkVersion to 4 introduced the problem. My filewriter doesn't work anymore! The application runs fine, but a file doesn't get created.
