JQuery/AJAX: Loading external DIVs using dynamic content

I need to create a page that will load divs from an external page using Jquery and AJAX. I have come across a few good tutorials, but they are all based on static content, my links and content are generated by PHP. The main tutorial I am basing my code on is from: http://yensdesign.com/2008/12/how-to-load-content-via-ajax-in-jquery/ The exact function i need is as follows: Main page contains a permanent div listing some links containing a parameter. Upon click, link passes parameter to external page. External page filters recordset against parameter and populates div with results. The new div contains a new set of links with new parameters. The external div is loaded underneath the main pages first div. Process can then be repeated creating a chain of divs under each other. The last div in the chain will then direct to a new page collating all the previously used querystrings. I can handle all of the PHP work with populating the divs on the main and external pages. php / phpDoc - @return instance of $this class ?

How do I mark a method as "returns an instance of the current class" in my phpDoc? In the following example my IDE (Netbeans) will see that setSomething always returns a foo object. But that's not true if I extent the object - it'll return $this, which in the second example is a bar object not a foo object. class foo { protected $_value = null; /** * Set something * * @param string $value the value * @return foo */ public function setSomething($value) { $this->_value = $value; return $this; } } $foo = new foo(); $out = $foo->setSomething(); So fine - setSomething returns a foo - but in the following example, it returns a bar..: class bar extends foo { public function someOtherMethod(){} } $bar = new bar(); $out = $bar->setSomething(); $out->someOtherMethod(); // <-- Here, Netbeans will think $out // is a foo, so doesn't see this other // method in $out's code-completion ... it'd be great to solve this as for me, code completion is a massive speed-boost. Anyone got a clever trick, or even better, a proper way to document this with phpDoc?

Load function in jquery

Hi, I am relatively new to jquery and would like to know why the below code wouldn't work. I am trying to access the content from a file residing on my site and not outside. Is it because I have the jquery lib loading from google and not my site? The error message that I get in IE browser is "Access Denied". Jquery - Dialogue not displaying correctly on IE6

I am trying to use bgiform but it seems to have no effect. The text in IE is pushed off of the screen of the dialogue box when its displayed. It works fine in FF. As everyone knows, that default button doesn't work in FF, only IE. I've tried to put in the tag or in the and it's not working. Playing with Ruby and Ruby-Pandoc. Seems like a nice tool, if I can get it to work. I'd like to convert some Markdown text (with embedded lists and other fanciness) to Rich Text. Hi all, Im writing an app which reads an RSS feed and places items on a map. I need to read the lat and long numbers only from this string: http://www.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.co.uk/map.aspx?isTrafficAlert=true&lat=53.647351&lon=-1.933506 .This is contained in link tags Im a bit of a programming noob but im writing this in C#/Silverlight using Linq to XML. Shold this text be extrated when parsing or after parsing and sent to a class to do this? Many thanks for your assistance. EDIT. Im going to try and do a regex on this this is where I need to integrate the regex somewhere in this code. when i set property(retain), one "self" = one "retain"?

although I'm about to finish my first app, I'm still confused about the very basic memory management..I've read through many posts here and apple document, but I'm still puzzled.. [Alloc init] it without self., coz I know this will retain twice.. but after the allocation, I put back the "self." to set the attributes.. My gut feel tells me I am doing wrong, but it works superficially and I found no memory leak in analyze and instruments.. can anyone give my advice? when I use "self." to set text and set background color, does it retain one automatically? THX so much!

Layering Images & Click to Choose Using Javascript

So I'm making a gallery of fabrics and backgrounds for letters for a fraternity/sorority store in my college's town. If you don't know what I'm talking about, this is a fabric letter. You can see how it has a white outline (background) and a red inside (foreground). WELL, I want to make it so you can change both the foreground and background, simply by clicking it's similar image. Is there anyway I can add a layer below it, but still make it show at the top of the page? I know I'll have to use photoshop and transparency for both options, thats no problem, but I wanted to make sure I can do this before I start creating 600+ images. I know I can play with z-index and css, but since I'm using wordpress the one example I read about here wasn't working or I didn't completely understand it, and messed up my entire page. Simple Oracle File repository with folder hierarchy

I have an application that stores large amount of files (XML and binary) in folder hierarchies. Currently the main method is storing them in file system or using a legacy CMS, which we want to get rid of. The CMS supports Oracle and a customer wants to keep the files in Oracle because of enterprise policies (backup etc.) The question is: Is there a simple implementation of file repository with folder hierarchy for Oracle? What I am looking for is a small .Net component or example code (PL/SQL and/or .Net) that would have the following methods: Create, Delete, Exists Folder CRUD file Move and potentially Copy file or directory Access to files and folders with paths like "/root/folder1/folder2/file.xml" Ability to get all the files and folders in a folder and potentially also the entire directory tree Tree traversal, getting the parent, all children etc. needs to be fast. I need the implementation in .Net, but if it was just the stored procedures, I could create the .Net calling code. I have pointers to generic articles for creating hierarchies in DB, so if I need to do it from scratch, I know where to start. What I am asking here, is there already an implementation that I could take without doing this from scratch? It seems like such a generic requirement... If the answer is a CMS, Document management system or such it should be Open Source or at least quite cheap (some hundreds / server) and it should be possible to deploy it XCopy - hopefully only couple of DLL:s. I do not need - or want - a full featured big CMS with dozens of dlls and especially not an msi-installation. I have tried to google this, but the words "repository", "CMS", "file hierarchy" etc. give so many answers, the searches are pretty much useless. Thanks, OPe

I have page with products. When adding a product to the shopping cart a modal window is fired up for confirmation - this can take up to 2 seconds. I want to show another modal window just before the confirmation modal to show "loading..." my problem is that I don't know how to close the "loading..." modal. What is the "un-tab" sequence in (g)Vim?

This is an annoyance I've had for a long time. (Nitpicky section: I prefer 4 space characters to tab characters. It's a lot easier to type "tab" instead of explaining that. When I say "tab", I mean "the action that happens when you press the tab key" which is probably more simply stated as "increase indentation".) I'm using smartindent while editing a document where indentation has some significance. In "dumb" windows text editors I can press Shift+Tab to remove a tab or, more appropriately, decrease the indentation level of the current line. I can't figure out how to do this from edit mode in Vim; Shift+Tab seems to count just the same as Tab. I know in Command mode << will decrease indentation. I want the equivalent in edit mode. These are the solutions I've found so far and why I don't like them, one in particular may be the key to the answer. Use Notepad++ or some other dumb editor. I've done this for a couple of years but I really miss Vim. Exit edit mode, use <<, enter edit mode. This just puts the cursor at column 0; if I wanted this I wouldn't have tried smartindent. Stop using smartindent. I don't decrease indent as often as I need to keep the same indent level; this would be a loss of productivity. The left arrow key seems to decrease the indent by one level. I'd rather something I can do without leaving the home row. This is the most promising choice. Maybe there's an option I can set? Maybe I can rebind left arrow to something? (If it requires rebinding please explain in detail; I've never delved into reconfiguring (g)Vim.

I suddenly found that while using Mozilla / jQuery v1.8.2 I do not need to use the id with quotes and # sign. For example, $(bt2) works the same as $(“#bt2”), see the code below. jquery XML .html() instead of .text() is not displaying?

I can't seem to figure out this problem. I am trying to get xml to render html tags. The problem I am having using .text() will display but not recognize any html tags. If I use .html() or just call var long2 = $(this).find('long'); nothing will show up in Safari or IE. I have xml paragraph I have text in here that needs bold tags or tags which is why i need html tags in the xml to be recognized. Can anyone help with this (Javascript arrays)?

Hi I am new to Netui and Javascript so go easy on me please. I have a form that is populated with container.item data retuned from a database. I am adding a checkbox beside each repeater item returned and I want to add the container item data to an array when one of the checkboxes is checked for future processing. Overriding CSS style 'display:none' in javascript

I'm trying to add a checkbox toggle that hides and shows list elements by changing their style display attribute from "none" to "inline", but it's not working. I'm setting the attribute's style to "display:none" in the CSS file. Then I set it to "display:inline" in javascript when someone checks a box. The javascript is successfully changing the element's property to inline, but for some reason the element remains invisible. If I do the opposite, by setting the display to inline in the CSS and overriding it to none in the javascript, it works fine. I don't see why this would work one way but not the other. I'm using chrome. Here is the code. Any feedback is appreciated. Hi, im making a wordpress plugin and i have a function where i import images, this is done with a $.each()-loop that calls a .load()-function every iteration. The load-function page the load-function calls is downloading the image and returns a number. The number is imported into a span-element. The source and destination Arrays is being imported from LI-elemnts of a hidden ULs. this way the user sees a counter counting from zero up to the total number of images being imported. How can i prevent this from happening and how can i make it hide '#mrc_imp_img' when the $.each-loop is ready?

PHP: Need a double check on an error in this small code

I have this simple Select box that is suppose to store the selected value in a hidden input, which can then be used for POST (I am doing it this way to use data from disabled drop down menus) <body> <?php $Z = $_POST[hdn]; ?> <form id="form1" name="form1" method="post" action="test.php"> <select name="whatever" id="whatever" onchange="document.getElementById('hdn').value = this.value"> <option value="1">1Value</option> <option value="2">2Value</option> <option value="3">3Value</option> <option value="4">4Value</option> </select> <input type="hidden" name ='hdn' id="hdn" /> <input type="submit" id='submit' /> <?php echo "<p>".$Z."</p>"; ?> </form> </body> The echo call works for the last 3 options (2,3,4) but if I select the first one it doesnt output anything, and even if i change first one it still doesnt output anything. Can someone explain to me whats going on, I think it might be a syntax issue.
