• MSSQL 2000 Stored Procedure to Split Shift Times

  I am being asked to alter a system to include the ability to have pay differentials based on hours worked. The old method included a stored procedure (MSSQL2000 db) that did the basics, but simply knows the start and end of every shift. So, this is the information I start with: EMPLOYEE | TYPE | HOURS | INSTAMP | OUTSTAMP Dave | Hourly | 8.643055 | 2011-01-08 07:57:35.557 | 2011-01-08 16:36:10.120 And I need to turn that into something like: EMPLOYEE | TYPE | HOURS | INSTAMP | OUTSTAMP Dave | Hourly | 4.00 | 2011-01-08 08:00:00.000 | 2011-01-08 12:00:00.000 Dave | ShiftDiff1 | 4.50 | 2011-01-08 12:00:00.000 | 2011-01-08 16:30:00.000 The ShiftDiff's range from hours to certain days, to a combo of both. Should I try to make the SQL2000 SP do this or pass the info back to my ASP.NET(C#) app and let it handle it, then send back?

• How to unmangle exported symbols from C++ in dynamic libraries in XCode on OSX

  I've been trying to develop a dynamic library in C++ that can be run-time loaded in an application. I finally got it working, but it's a little ugly. I have a function that takes a pointer to a C++ class as an argument, which looks like this: bool registerGrindPlugin( Grind::PluginManager* mgr ); But of course it's being exported as: _Z19registerGrindPluginPN5Grind13PluginManagerE I tried a .c file with a simple function and it exported fine as "registerGrindPlugin", but of course I can't pass a C++ class as the argument that way. Soo... my question is, is there a way to unmangle or alias the exported symbol so that I don't have to use a monstrosity like Z19registerGrindPluginPN5Grind13PluginManagerE in my dlsym call? I did see something about -alias_list as a linker option, but I haven't quite figured out how to use it in XCode. If that is the solution, can somebody provide some more details on how to use this?

I want the descriptions to appear rather than the enum names. How can I accomplish this? (There are no constraints on the class/enum/attributes; I can change them at will.)

• In Silverlight, what is the best way to convert between a System.Drawing.Color and a System.Windows.

  I'm trying to convert from a System.Drawing.Color to a Silverlight System.Windows.Media.Color. I'm actually trying to pass this color through a service. The System.Drawing.Color, passed over the wire, does not serialize the argb value independently. I can convert the argb value to a 32-bit int [DataMember] public int MyColor { get { return Color.Red.ToArgb(); } set {} } But I don't see any corresponding method in System.Windows.Media.Color to convert that back. What is the best way to do this?

• How do I temporarily monkey with a global module constant?

  Greetings, I want to tinker with the global memcache object, and I found the following problems. Cache is a constant Cache is a module I only want to modify the behavior of Cache globally for a small section of code for a possible major performance gain. Since Cache is a module, I can't re-assign it, or encapsulate it. I Would Like To Do This: Deep in a controller method... code code code... old_cache = Cache Cache = MyCache.new code code code... Cache = old_cache code code code... However, since Cache is a constant I'm forbidden to change it. Threading is not an issue at the moment. :) Would it be "good manners" for me to just alias_method the special code I need just for a small section of code and then later unalias it again? That doesn't pass the smell test IMHO. Does anyone have any ideas? TIA, -daniel

• Can't get a SQL command to recognise the params added

  Hi, I've not used basic SQL commands for a while and I'm trying to pass a param to a sproc and the run it. However when I run the code I get a "Not Supplied" error. Code: SqlConnection conn1 = new SqlConnection(DAL.getConnectionStr()); SqlCommand cmd1 = new SqlCommand("SProc_Item_GetByID", conn1); cmd1.Parameters.Add(new SqlParameter("@ID", itemId)); conn1.Open(); cmd1.ExecuteNonQuery(); I'm not really sure why this would fail.   Hi, I need to call a function from a python script and pass in parameters into it. I have a test python script which I can call and run from java using Jepp - this then adds the person. Eg Test.py import Finding from Finding import * f = Finding() f.addFinding("John", "Doe", 27) Within my Finding class I have addFinding(firstname, lastName, age) However, I wish to be able to do this from within java.   I have the following code: class Like < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :site validates_uniqueness_of :ip_address, :scope => [:site_id] end Which limits a person from "liking" a site more than one time based on a remote ip request. Essentially when someone "likes" a site, a record is created in the Likes table and I use a hidden field to request and pass their ip address to the :ip_address column in the like table. With the above code I am limiting the user to one "like" per their ip address. I would like to limit this to a certain number for instance 10. My initial thought was do something like this: validates_uniqueness_of :ip_address, :scope => [:site_id, :limit => 10] But that doesn't seem to work. Is there a simple syntax here that will allow me to do such a thing?

  I'm building an "API API", it basically a wrapper for a in house REST web service that the web app will be making a lot of requests to. Some of the web service calls need to be GET rather than post, but passing parameters. Is there a "best practice" way to encode a dictionary into a query string? e.g.: ?foo=bar&bla=blah I'm looking at the urllib2 docs, and it looks like it decides by itself wether to use POST or GET based on if you pass params or not, but maybe someone knows how to make it transform the params dictionary into a GET request. Maybe there's a package for something like this out there? It would be great if it supported keep-alive, as the web server will be constantly requesting things from the REST service. Thanks!

  hi, i am using rawurlencode($url_variable) while passing to a script.. when i receive the variable in the script ,before passing this variable to mysql ,i was doing mysql_real_escape_string . now the problem is like when there is a variable like $url_variable = "Off-St.Mark's-Road" ...after i do mysql_real_escape_string it become slike Off-St.Mark\\'s-Road . which is creating a problem in mysql query ... how i get over this...rawurlencode is necessary to pass variables to the script and i want to do mysql_real_escape_string to make the data safe...

• Is there a recommended command for "hg bisect --command"?

  I have an emergent bug that I've got to track down tomorrow. I know a previous hg revision which was good so I'm thinking about using hg bisect. However, I'm on Windows and don't want to get into DOS scripting. Ideally, I'd be able to write a Python unit test and have hg bisect use that. • Best way to get an Application Context into a static method in Android

  I'm working on an Android application that has several Activities. In it I have a class with several static methods. I would like to be able to call these methods from the different Activities. I'm using the static methods to load data from an xml file via a XmlResourceParser. To create a XmlResourceParser requires a call on the Application Context. So my question is, what is the best way to get a reference to the Application Context into the static methods? Have each Activity get it and pass it in? Store it somehow in a global variable?

• Issue on passing a checkbox set to an AppEngine script through jQuery Ajax/Json

  I have a set of checkboxes with multiple choice allowed. I parse the set this way: if ($("input[name='route_day']:checked").length > 0) { $("input[name='route_day']:checked").each(function(){ if(this.value != null) route_days_hook.push(this.value); }); dataTrap.route_days = $.JSON.encode(route_days_hook); } ...and pull the whole dataTrap to an AppEngine Python script via jQuery ajax. However, the Python script just bugs. If i change dataTrap.route_days value to a string instead of the JSON encoded object, everything works fine. My question is: how can i pass a checkbox set to the script using Ajax and still be able to iterate over it on the script?

• NHibernate Named Query Parameter Numbering @p1 @p2 etc

  A colleague recently ran into a problem where he was passing in a single date parameter to a named query. In the query, the parameter was being used twice, once in an expression and once in a GROUP BY clause. Much to our surprise, we discovered that NHibernate used two variables and sent the single named parameter in twice, as @p1 and @p2. This behaviour caused SQL to fail the query, with the usual "a column in the select clause is not in the group by clause" (I paraphrase ofcourse). Is this behaviour normal? Can it be changed? Seems to me that if you have a parameter name like :startDate, NHibernate only needs to pass in @p1 no matter how many times you might refer to :startDate in the query. Any comments? The problem was worked around by using another sub-query to overcome the SQL parsing error.

  Hi, I've got some Jquery functions that I keep in a "custom.js" file. On some pages, I need to pass PHP variables to the Jquery so some Jquery bits need to remain in the HTML documents. However, as I'm now trying to refactor things to the minimum, I'm tripping over the following: If I put this in my custom.js: $(document).ready(function() { function sayHello() { alert("hello"); } } And this in a HTML document: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { sayHello(); }); </script> ... the function doesn't get called. However, if both are placed in the HTML document, the function works fine. Is there some kind of public property I need to declare for the function or how do I get Jquery functions in my HTML to talk to external .js files? They're correctly included and work fine otherwise.   I am working on a twitter based app and am trying to incorporate Android's built-in Account support for Twitter. The following code works to popup the confirmation dialog for my app to access twitter but I am unsure of what to pass in as the authenticationType. Any help would be appreciated. • Why does this regular expression fail?

  I have a password validation script in PHP that checks a few different regular expressions, and throws a unique error message depending on which one fails. Here is an array of the regular expressions and the error messages that are thrown if the match fails: array( 'rule1' => array( '/^.*[\d].*$/i', 'Password must contain at least one number.' ), 'rule2' => array( '/^.*[a-z].*$/i', 'Password must contain at least one lowercase letter' ), 'rule3' => array( '/^.*[A-Z].*$/i', 'Password must contain at least one uppercase letter' ), 'rule4' => array( '/^.*[~!@#$%^&*()_+=].*$/i', 'Password must contain at least one special character [~!@#$%^&*()_+=]' ) ); For some reason, no matter what I pass through the validation, the "Special Characters" rule fails. I'm guessing it's a problem with the expression. If there's a better (or correct) way to write these expressions, I'm all ears!

  Hello, I need to join two tables from different MySQL (PHP) connection strings and different databases. $conn = mysql_connect('192.168.30.20', 'user', 'pass'); $conn2 = mysql_connect('anotherIPHere', 'user2', 'pass2'); $db = mysql_select_db('1stdb', $conn); $db2 = mysql_select_db('2nddb', $conn2); If I were using the same connection I would just prefix the tables with the db names, such as database1.table1.column and database2.table2.column2, but since I'm using two completely separate connection strings the MySQL Query does not know which connection string to use, thus the resource is not usable. I've read a ton of resources that show how to use two databases, from the SAME connection string and that is working fine, but I can't find anything related to multiple connection strings and databases.
