  • What .NET serializers have fixed size output for a given class?

    XML based serializers have variable size output for a given class. I can't use them to append data to my Memcached list, since I won't be able to retrieve that information later. But if I knew my serializer produced a fixed size output (N bytes), I could retrieve my data by splitting my list in N bytes chunks and then deserializing those chunks individually. I have created my own serializer for my class, but what other serializers I could use?

    I'm building an application which helps someone manage an event and works with data originating from Excel. I want to use the WPF Toolkit DataGrid to display the incoming data but can't guarantee how many Columns there are going to be or what information they will contain. I'd like to have an Info class that stores column information and have each Visitor at my Event own a Dictionary that uses shared references to Info objects for the keys. As a workaround I've created a ListTVisitorToDataTableConverter that maps Infos to DataColumns and Visitors to DataRows and used it like this: <wpftk:DataGrid DataContext="{StaticResource Event}" ItemsSource{Binding Path=Visitors, Converter={StaticResource MySmellyListTVisitorToDataTableConverter}}" /> I don't think this is good though, I haven't started trying to convert back yet which I guess I'll need to do if I want to be able to edit any data! The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "I:\My Documents\Flamm Consulting\Migrations.accdb" failed with error code 0xC0209303. There may be error messages posted before this with more information on why the AcquireConnection method call failed. Frankly, I'm confused about how SSIS should connect to Access 2007 - the UI just isn't very friendly - there's no file browser, for example. I'm wondering if there's something wrong with my install - missing drivers, etc.

    What is the data paypal returns if we make recurring payments through a Subscription button on the website? How can we get transaction_id? It's that we want our users to pay with credit cards with no need to register, but so far we can't get transaction_id to get the information for automatic processes on the website directly. This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem (14001)."

  • Good ways to map a 2D side shooter (somewhat like liero, or soldat)

    I'm wondering what way would be best to render a 2D map for a shooter (these will be static maps) similar to Soldat. Multiple options I've considered are a tile based map (stored in txt files), or just creating different classes for the different terrains I plan to use and creating a data structure to read/store them in a file. (I want to also be able to include things like jumping/running on walls, sliding down walls/slopes ect) I feel like there must be a better way than either of these, but haven't been able to find definitive information :/ Thanks :)
