• 3d user experience with HTML5 and Javascript

  I've to build a 3D user experience with HTML5 and any required JS library which provides such functionality. 3D scene consists of a cylindrical pipe and surface. It has 360 degree rotation and can zoom in and out. As user selects a parameter, specific value of that parameter at various depth of pipe in surface should display. I've searched for HTML5 3d and JS libraries and found three.js could help for this.Also found this useful presentation on HTML 3d engine: http://projects.mariusgundersen.net/OnGameStart/#1 .But as this is my first time with HTML5 3d modeling, how should I initiate to build ? What parameters should be considered ? Which tools and libraries would best fit for such requirements ? I would like to create a 3d model using HTML5 and JS 3d engine as shown in the 1st image.

• MinGW - cross compile tool - latest version?

  At the MinGW download page you can download the "Cross-Hosted MinGW Build Tool" which is a shell script to build the "MinGW cross-compiler" so that you will be able to compile your programs on "Linux" to the "Windows" target. I have downloaded that script, run it and answered the interactive questions the script has asked me. I had to dowload some files from which one has name "gcc-core". And the "latest" version of the "gcc-core source code" I have found on that page, was "gcc-core-3.4.5-20060117-2-src.tar.gz" - so that "3.4.5" version. But on "Ubuntu Linux" I can download the precompiled "mingw32" package which is of the version "4.2.1". How is it possible that the "Ubuntu package" version of MinGW is newer than the one from the MinGW "homepage"? So which is the latest version of the "MinGW cross compile tool"?

• QWT plugin for QT 4.5

  Hi, I have gotten the latest QWT 5.1.2 for QT 4.5 and managed to get it to complie. I am now trying to get the plugin to work in QT Designer (with VS intergration). I have placed the plugin files into the plugin/designer folder, but when attempting to load, I hit this error Cannot load library qwt_desginer_plugin5.dll: The specified module cannot be found. I've done some search on this issue, one page which suggest moving the plugin to the VS intergration folder - which does not exist for Program Files\Nokia\Vs4Addin. My QT Designer is a debug-and-relase build. (That is, if I use a debug build of the plugin it would complain that it is expecting a release).

• ASP.NET MVC- Bizarre problem - suddennly lost all LINQTO SQL data context objects

  I was making an edit to a long existing project. Specifically I added some fields to a table and had to delete the table from the LINQTOSQL designer and re-add it. doesn't Also had to do the same for a view. Mode some other code changes and went to build . Now my project won't build because it can't resolve any of the data context objects (all tables and views) in my code. I don't know what I did or how this happeened. I have many tables and views in the project's L2S data context so I don't wont to try and do over. Please any suggestions on how to resolve this problem are greatly appreciated. Desparate! The error messages I am getting are the familiar The type or namespace name 'equipment' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)

• XSLT: Is there a way to "inherit" canned functionality?

  i am once again having to cobble together a bit of XSLT into order to turn generated XML into (rather than simply generating HTML). i'm having huge deja-vu this time again. i'm once again having to solve again basic problems, e.g.: how to convert characters into valid html entity references how to preserve whitespace/carriage returns when converting to html how to convert to HTML as opposed to xhtml how to convert dates from xml format into presentable format how to tear apart strings with substring This is all stuff that i've solved many times before. But every time i come back to XSLT i have to start from scratch, re-inventing the wheel every time. If it were a programming language i would have a library of canned functions and procedures i can call. i would have subroutines to perform the commonly repeated tasks. i would inherit from a base class that already implements the ugly boilerplate stuff. Is there any way in XSLT to grow, expand and improve the ecosystem with canned code?

• Win32 call order

  Hi all, I have two windows that I send scripted input to. The procedure goes as this BringWindowToTop( window1 ); i = Build input structures( window1 ); SendInput(i); BringWindowToTop( window2 ); i = Build input structures( window2 ); SendInput(i); I was having trouble with inputs not being sent and the correct time. I put delays after each call and saw that input from the first SendInput() was processed after window2 is brought to top. Same thing at the end of the loop as well. Are SendInput calls buffered? If so, how can I make sure of a serial execution of this code? Thanks

• Install JBIComponent from adminCommandsService

  I'm trying to install a JBI component inside ServiceMix 4.3 from a Java class. This JBIComponent is packed as .jar. I wanted to know if the jbi.xml descriptor is mandatory in .jar package like in .zip. I searched a lot of info and I'm not quite sure but as it looks like for the java classes that install the component is necessary this descriptor but when my maven project creates two files, one .zip and one .jar. The zip one has a jbi.xml descriptor inside META-INF. • XSLT transformations in Ruby and JRuby

  Simple question: are there any solid XSLT libraries that work in both Ruby and JRuby? REXML works in both, but does not have XSLT support. ruby-xslt doesn't work in JRuby. The latest Nokogiri betas do support JRuby, but the support is still buggy and throws occasional NullPointerExceptions for XML input that works fine in Ruby. (In particular, any transforms that don't result in valid XML cause it to barf, even if xsl:output is set to 'text'!) JXslt is just a wrapper for Java's Xalan/Saxon and doesn't work in Ruby. Please tell me I'm missing something?

• Delete or comment out non-working JUnit tests?

  I'm currently building a CI build script for a legacy application. There are sporadic JUnit tests available and I will be integrating a JUnit execution of all tests into the CI build. However, I'm wondering what to do with the 100'ish failures I'm encountering in the non-maintained JUnit tests. Do I: 1) Comment them out as they appear to have reasonable, if unmaintained, business logic in them in the hopes that someone eventually uncomments them and fixes them 2) Delete them as its unlikely that anyone will fix them and the commented out code will only be ignored or be clutter for evermore 3) Track down those who have left this mess in my hands and whack them over the heads with the printouts of the code (which due to long-method smell will be sufficently suited to the task) while preaching the benefits of a well maintained and unit tested code base

• Problem with WiX major upgrade!

  Okay, my last question on this journey of WiX upgrades managed to get my settings file to be preserved! However, There is another component that is being preserved that I don't want to! I need it to overwrite, and it's not. The component "Settings" now works, with the NeverOverwrite="yes", and a KeyPath="yes". However, the component immediately below it does not work! It needs to overwrite both the MDF and the LDF with new ones from the install! I've tried lots of stuff, and am stumped. Please and thank you!   I just tried a sample of retrieving and passing it to a textview. I am having some trouble wrapping my textview. The bottom part is not completely shown. • Building a rails form to filter an index page?

  G'day guys, I'm having an issue with filtering the presentation of several thousand trade items I have in my system. As per the specs of the system we're building we have to have a form that allows people to put in a start date and then an interval in minutes, to filter the presentation of the items. I've built my helper functions to return all of the trades within that interval period, but I can't for the life of me properly build the form that will return a dateTime value and an integer value within the top of the index page? Any ideas? Would I have to build a separate model object to assign values to, or is there a simpler way?

• ASP.Net Web Site Project - Errors Not Caught at Compile time

  For the first time in my career, I'm working on an ASP.Net (v3.5) project that has been set up as a Visual Studio 2008/10 Web Site Project. I'm not keen on this way of working this way for various reasons but for the moment and until such time as the company sees the virtue in working in an environment with namespaces, designer and project files etc., I have to continue with the existing codebase. I've run into some odd issues since I began this but perhaps the oddest one of all is that althought VS lets me build the code, it doesn't reliably pick up compilation errors so these are not noticed until runtime. I know the website model allows dynamic/hot compilation when a request is made for a specific but I can't see why it wouldn't do this when I manually (F5) build/rebuild the project. Its immensely annoying as you can imagine and I can't find a workaround. Could any StackOverflow person help with suome suggestions to make things better?

  Hi, I have a configuration file with a lot of data like sensor locations, type, rules for activating devices etc. Basically related to a pervasive system. I plan to design an ontology for this domain. The doubt in my mind is how should I populate the ontology with the information in the configuration file, as the configuration files are going to change every now and then. Earlier I was planning to use XML, so I can just read the configuration file at runtime and create an XML as per the XSD. Do we use the same technique for Ontologies? • Showing Live Wallpaper in a 1.6 target app by detecting if it's a 2.1 device?

  We're building an Android app with target SDK 1.6, so it will run on 1.6 devices and higher. We'd like to support Live Wallpapers, which we know is 2.1+ only. Is there a way to build one app with 1.6 SDK as the target, but detect if the device it's running on is 2.1, and only in that scenario call the live wallpaper API. We're trying to avoid having to build a separate 1.6 and 2.1 versions, and would like to be able to support Live Wallpapers for only 2.1 devices. So to be clear- 1 app, that can support 1.6 and higher, and support live wallpapers for 2.1 devices. Any way of doing this?

• Can a grails controller extend from a base class? How to make it so grails doesn't blow up?

  I wrote a base class to help build my controllers more quickly and to remove duplication. It provides some helper methods, default actions and some meta programming to make these things easier to build. One of those methods in the base class is like this: def dynamicList(Class clazz) { def model = new LinkedHashMap() model[getMapString(clazz) + "s"] = list(clazz) model[getMapString(clazz) + "sTotal"] = count(clazz) model } The action that calls it, also in the base class, is this: def list = { dynamicList(clazz) } Unfortunately, when I go to list action in the controller subclass that inherits the base class when my application is deployed, I get this exception: groovy.lang.MissingMethodException: No signature of method: groovy.lang.MissingMethodException.dynamicList() is applicable for argument types: (java.lang.Class) values: [class project .user.User] at project.user.UserController$_closure1.doCall(UserController.groovy:18) at project.user.UserController$_closure1.doCall(UserController.groovy) at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:619) How can I hit grails over the head and just tell it do what I want it to do? • Flex Dataprovider caching issue.

  I have two combobox controls. If i change combobox A then I am reading from xml and populating combobox B. The xml is loaded into memory in Application's creationComplete method. When I select values in combobox A and then open combobox B, I am seeing the values correctly, but when I deploy it on the server in a different machine (which is in a different subdomain), then my combobox B values are not cleared and are retained by old selection, when I select the combobox B, then it is getting refreshed. I am making the dataprovider = null for combobox b, and when I am assigning new collection then i am refreshing the arraycollection as well. But still the problem is not solved.

These are run from a separate test project (HealthLoggerTest). HealthLogger and jUnit4 are in HealthLoggerTest's build path. jUnit4 is also in HealthLogger's build path. The class "Record" is located in com.healthlogger. Commenting out the "@Test..." and "Record r..." lines allows this test to run. When they are uncommented, I get a VerifyError exception. I am severely blocked by this; why is it happening? • If XmlException.SourceUri is read-only, what good is it?

  I have a couple places in my code where it throwing a new System.Xml.XmlException seems appropriate. I could just do throw new XmlException("Your XML sucks go fix it then try again."); But I think it's better to take advantage whenever possible of members particular to the exception class (otherwise ya might as well throw a plain ol' Exception every time). SourceUri and LineNumber would be helpful, but they only have get methods, there's no way I can assign a value to them! There's only 3 constructor overloads and none of them have parameters for those members either; I can only initialize Message, nothing else. There has got to be some way to populate those data members with values, otherwise why does XmlException bother with them? I suppose I could make a new class that inherits XmlException and write a new constructor that initializes SourceUri etc. but still, there must be a way to just use XmlException. Right?
