• How to direct link to an attribute set?

  I have created attributes; “Shop by Type” and “Shop by Color”. They work great within the layered navigation and extended search. I’ve designed graphics and placed them in the home page and would like to link to the respective attribute’s assigned products. Been searching the webs, but so far have been unsuccessful. If there’s no direct possible way, the next method would be creating cms pages and linking to it directly. How can I display products that are assigned to a specific attribute? Specifically “Multiple Select” types. I know you guys prefer at least some attempts, but as mentioned, been playing with it with no luck. I would appreciate some kind of starting point. Happy Holidays! Edit: I was able to put together this code that lists all the products assigned to said category id. Tried to filter it down where it only displays products that have an assigned same attribute with no luck yet. When I moved this code to client's production server - they use SQL 2000, I started getting "Incorrect syntax near '(' ". I've tried changing the ProviderManifestToken to 2000 in my .edmx file, then I started getting "The execution of this query requires the APPLY operator, which is not supported in versions of SQL Server earlier than SQL Server 2005." I tied changing the token to 2005, the "Incorrect syntax near '(' " is back. Can anybody help me to find a workaround for this? Thank you very much in advance!

I am iterating over an xml file and within my for loop i am trying to take the preceding text of the text node. Unfortunately preceding::text() is not working if i use it within a for loop.   I am new to NHibernate and I am having trouble mapping the following relationships within this class. public class Category : IAuditable { public virtual int Id { get; set; } public virtual string Name{ get; set; } public virtual Category ParentCategory { get; set; } public virtual IList<Category> SubCategories { get; set; } public Category() { this.Name = string.Empty; this.SubCategories = new List<Category>(); } } Class Maps (although, these are practically guesses) public class CategoryMap : ClassMap<Category> { public CategoryMap() { Id(x => x.Id); Map(x => x.Name); References(x => x.ParentCategory) .Nullable() .Not.LazyLoad(); HasMany(x => x.SubCategories) .Cascade.All(); } } Each Category may have a parent category, some Categories have many subCategories, etc, etc I can get the Category to Save correctly (correct subcategories and parent category fk exist in the database) but when loading, it returns itself as the parent category. I am using Fluent for the class mapping, but if someone could point me in the right direction for just plain NHibernate that would work as well.

Anybody know how to fix this. EDIT2 Id is unique cause its an auto incremental value.Ya i have some real duplicates in city column like: Delhi and Delhi. Right.. Now when i am trying to fetch data from it, I am getting Delhi two times. How can i make query like this: select DISTINCT rec.city where state="xyz"; Cause this will give me the proper output.   [Updated a bit] I have a Task model that has a :completed boolean attribute. If I click on it I want it to execute the 'finish' method. The main problem is that I am displays a series of checkboxes in a list and subsequent checkboxes after the first one are ignored. The method is never called for the given task/checkbox combo.   I want my users to be able to mark one or more items from an index view as "Active" or "Inactive" using a link. The text for the link should be state aware - so it might default to "Mark as Active" if the corresponding attribute was false or null, and "Mark as Inactive" if true. Once the user clicks the link and the attribute is updated in the controller, the link-text should update based on the new state. I am WAY off here, but this is a small sample of the code I have been trying...   Well I tried to figure out is this possible in any way. For what? Well if you write something like this: a=function(text) { var b=text; this.getText=function(){ return b} } ... everything should be fine.. but in fact every time I create object - i create getText function that uses memory. I would like to have one prototypical function lying in memory that would do the same... Any ideas? EDIT: I tried solution given by Christoph, and it seems that its only known solution for now. It need to remember id information to retrieve value from context, but whole idea is nice for me :) Id is only one thing to remember, everything else can be stored once in memory. In fact you could store a lot of private members this way, and use anytime only one id. • Table overflow working in Chrome and IE but not Firefox

  I have a simple email address sign up form as follows: <form action="" id="newsletterform" method="get"> <input type="text" name="email" class="required email" id="textnewsletter" /> <input type="submit" id="signup" /> </form> Here's what I want to be able to do: Validate the form to look for an empty string or a incorrectly filled out email address one the user clicks submit or hits enter. If one of the above happens (empty string etc), I would like to generate an error to let the user know. Then once the user fills out a correctly formed email address and hits submit (or enter) I want the form to send the email address to wherever I specify in the jQuery code and then generate a little "Thank you for signing up notice", all without reloading the browser. I have looked at too many tutorials and my eyes are pretty much aching at this stage, so please don't point me to any urls (I most likely have been there). If someone could provide a barebone outline of what to do It would be so much appreciated.

  Hi - thanks for clicking. I am trying to get status feedback using an IFrame for file uploads. I am not trying to get progress or percentages - just when a file is done uploading and if it was a success or failure. THE PROBLEM is that I can't seem to get the server response to appear on the client. I have to following design: I have an iframe on my page: <iframe id="target_frame" src="" style="border:0px; width:0px; height:0px"></iframe> The form tag points to it: <form enctype="multipart/form-data" id="fileUploadForm" name="fileUploadForm" action="picupload.aspx" method="post" target="target_frame"> And the submit button starts a file upload via the iframe: <input id="submit" type="submit" value="upload" /> In the picupload.aspx.cs file, I have a method that returns dynamic data. I then send it to the client: message = data; Response.Write(String.Format("<script language='javascript' type='text/javascript'>window.parent.handleResponse('{0}');</script>", message)); On the client, I have a response handler: function handleResponse(msg) { document.getElementById('statusDiv').innerHTML = msg; } My intent is to see the msg value change for each uploaded file but I never see anything appear in statusDiv, let alone dynamically changing messages.   I've got a form with an input with id/name league_id <form accept-charset="UTF-8" action="/user" method="post"><div style="margin:0;padding:0;display:inline"><input name="utf8" type="hidden" value="?"><input name="authenticity_token" type="hidden" value="bb92urX83ivxOZZJzWLJMcr5ZSuamowO9O9Sxh5gqKo="></div> <input id="league_id" name="league_id" type="text" value="11"> <select class="sport_selector" id="sport_type_id" name="sport_type_id"><option value="5" selected="selected">Football</option> <option value="25">Women's Soccer</option> <option value="30">Volleyball</option> <option value="10">Men's Soccer</option></select> <input name="commit" type="submit" value="Save changes"> </form> In another part of my page, I have a drop down that, when changed, clears the value of league_id $("#sport_type_id").change -> $("#league_id").val(null) $(this).parents('form:first').submit() If I debug this page, I can see the value get wiped from the text box, but when the form is submitted, my controller always gets the old value. I tried changing the name of the input and got the same results.

• Why do I get null objects in a many-to-many bag?

  I have a bag defined for a many-to-many list: <class name="Author" table="Authors"> <id name="Id" column="AuthorId"> <generator class="identity" /> </id> <property name="Name" /> <bag name="Books" table="Author_Book_Map" where="IsDeleted=0" fetch="join"> <key column="AuthorId" /> <many-to-many class="Book" column="BookId" where="IsDeleted=0" /> </bag> </class> If I return all author objects using something like the following, I will get what initially appeared to be duplicate Author records: Session.Query<Author>().List<Author>() The extra author objects are created when an author is mapped to Book objects that have IsDeleted = 1 and IsDeleted = 0. Rather than creating one Author object with an enumerable that contains only the books with IsDeleted = 0, it will create two author objects. The first author object has a Books enumerable that contains books with IsDeleted = 0. The second author object will contain an enumerable of null book objects. Similarly, if an object only has one book map, and that map points to a book with IsDeleted = 1, then an author object is returned with a Books collection having one null object. I'm thinking part of the problem stems from the map table objects linking to rows that satisfy the where condition on the bag object but do not meet the many-to-many where condition. This is happening with NHibernate version 3.0.0.4980. Is this a configuration issue or something else?
