  Just started working on a large data warehouse project that runs some large ETLs every night. In the event of an error I receive an email, but I was hoping to somehow create something that will automatically call me, so I don't have to wake up and check my email at 4 every morning to make sure the ETLs finished properly. I know I can setup an SMS pretty easily, but I don't think that will be enough to wake me up :) Anyone have any experience trying to do this before?

I'm making a large rear projection screen and i need to invert the image to project properly. One of my projectors has a function that automatically inverts the image, but the other one may or may not (likely not) and i need two projectors to drive the system so I'm hoping to do the inversion on the computer side before projecting.

It seems all their LAMP AMIs are Fedora Core 4, but this seems like quite an old version, considering the current release is apparently Fedora 12, and < 10 releases are no longer supported. My question is how significantly different are the early fedora releases- is it crazy to be on versions 4 or even 8? (I realize this is probably a broad question)

• Idiomatic way to read .env variables in Ansible?

  I'm provisioning a Vagrant box with Ansible, and using Benno Joy's MySQL role to setup MySQL (including creating a database and users.) The database name and credentials are stored in a .env file in the project's root. What would be the idiomatic way to use these variables when provisioning MySQL? Should I write a custom script that generates a YAML file from my .env, and then use the include_vars module? Or is there a simpler way?

Drupal interface wants me to provide ftp password, but amazon ec2 uses private key pair and not username/password (unless I enable that, which I don't want to) how would I install from a site like this http://drupal.org/project/restws if the automated way is not feasible, do I just have to upload the individual module files to a particular drupal folder via sftp?

I have an SSL on www.mydomain.com, but their sub domain does not have SSL (app.theirdomain.com). Would redirection from their side be possible to SSL on my side so that the FB app works?

  We are using Tight VNC server in our project for screen sharing, due to some security constraints we cannot directly install Tight VNC server on clients machine. So through .net windows applicaton we are invoking Tight VNC. Now this windows application should capture the screens(packets) that VNC server passes to VNC client and transfer them to and fro to routing server, routing server will inturn transfers these packets to VNC client, which is on another network.   In my emacs org-mode org file I have a tag list #+TAGS: OFFICE(o) COMPUTER(c) HOME(h) PROJECT READING(r) PHOTOGRAPHY(p) At some point, I wish to add a new tag to the list, and apply it to an item (using C-c C-c). But the new tag does not show up in the list of selectable tags. In order to fix this, I close and reopen emacs. But I'm sure that isn't necessary, How do I refresh this list without restarting emacs?

  I'm not sure if everyone experiences this - when I edit a BitBucket wiki locally (through a git repository) I have to enter my BitBucket password for every pull and push. Is there any way around this? I have ssh correctly configured to use a key that is unlocked by gnome-keyring. Pushing to the code repository for my project in BitBucket works fine - I do not need to enter either by BitBucket or ssh key password.

• whats the difference between GPU and framegrabber?

  I am working on a project to monitor if human tissue has been fused with radio frequency during the surgery or not, therefore we are using a very fast camera (1800fps) and also laser illumination on the tissue and a framegrabber (1GB memory). I notice that, instead of a framegrabber, I'm able to use GPU as well, but I am not sure on what's the difference between them? Can any body explain what is the difference between a frame grabber and a GPU?
