  • Which IP addresses are using remote dekstop?

    We have a server that has an open remote desktop port to the internet (no VPN.) Several people are allowed to log on to the machine remotely. The server runs Windows 7 (desktop OS.) I can find logon times using Event Viewer, but it does not show the IP address of the remote machine. At any rate, manually browsing Event Viewer for all login events would be time consuming, to say the least.) Is a way to find out which IP addresses are using Remote Dekstop ?

  • How do I force my Graphite Airport to distribute 192.168.x addresses instead of 10.x.x addresses?

    I'm sharing a single IP address but there's no way to change what network it uses for distributing the private addresses via DHCP. My problem is that my VPN to work already uses the 10.x.x network, so I'd like my home to use 192.168.x. I've tried messing with the Network tab within the Airport Admin Utility for Graphite and Snow but nothing works. I'm hoping there's some way to hack the configuration file.

    I made a DNS change a few hours ago and I just ran the following command with the following output: nslookup mydomain.com ns1.mynameserver.com Server: ns1.mynameserver.com Address: 111.111.111.111 Name: mydomain.com Addresses: 222.222.222.222 333.333.333.333 222.222.222.222 is old IP. 333.333.333.333 is the new IP address. Why are they both showing up? Since I'm querying the authoritative DNS server directly, shouldn't only the new IP address be shown?

  • NK2 files doesn't keep the email addresses in memory

    When I send an email to someone outside the firm, when I only type the first letters of its name (Contact), I get the auto-suggest of the "Already-sent" users. So now, since a few days, the emails are not kept in memory by Outlook (NK2 file). I see that that file is only 2kb and on my old machine, it's almost 200kb (So a lot more email addresses kept in memory) Should I just rebuilt the Outlook profile or the whole Windows Profile? A simple Outlook reinstall or to build a new PC?

Is anyone familiar with a conf for HAProxy that can block requests if they exceed a certain threshold from a single IP within a defined period of time. I used one of the addresses and I tried testing the proxy at http://ipv6-test.com/ but it detected that is using the first ipv6 adddress instead of the certain ipv6 address that I provided. Example I used 2607:f358:0001:fed5:0022:772f:6ed3:7f3c as my proxy but it detected as 2607:f358:0001:fed5:0022:0000:db61:85e1 . Why is it doing that? The proxy server I am using is polipo

  • Proper way to scan a range of IP addresses

    Given a range of IP addresses entered by a user (through various means), I want to identify which of these machines have software running that I can talk to. Here's the basic process: Ping these addresses to find available machines Connect to a known socket on the available machines Send a message to the successfully established sockets Compare the response to the expected response Steps 2-4 are straight forward for me. What is the best way to implement the first step in .NET? I'm looking at the System.Net.NetworkInformation.Ping class. Should I ping multiple addresses simultaneously to speed up the process? If I ping one address at a time with a long timeout it could take forever. But with a small timeout, I may miss some machines that are available. Sometimes pings appear to be failing even when I know that the address points to an active machine. Do I need to ping twice in the event of the request getting discarded? To top it all off, when I scan large collections of addresses with the network cable unplugged, Ping throws a NullReferenceException in FreeUnmanagedResources(). !? Any pointers on the best approach to scanning a range of IPs like this?

  • Varnish + Nginx + multiple IP addresses

    This is my first shot at making Varnish work on my dedicated server which hosts 2 domains with 2 separate IP-addresses. My simplified setup is as follows: Nginx conf server { listen ip-address-1:8080; } server { listen ip-address-2:8080; } Varnish vcl backend default { .host = "127.0.0.1"; .port = "80"; } And in the varnish conf I have defined VARNISH_LISTEN_PORT=80 Varnish and Nginx (and php-fpm) are running properly but when I try to go to my website it shows the welcome to nginx page. The headers don't have the x-varnish in it. It seems that for some reason varnish is not listening to port 80. I'm suspecting this has to do with the vcl file where it is listening to the 127.0.0.1 host. I'm running two wordpress sites. Where should I look for to get Varnish working properly?     I've got 5 email domains with multiple email addresses on each domain. Traditional webmail clients only seem to allow you to browse a single account at a time (ie, you log into that account). With over 20 email addresses I need to monitor, this is obviously a major time sink. Is there a (preferably OSS, unix-based) webmail client that simulates a desktop email client, ie I log in once and can access all the email addresses from a central control panel? I've considered using a ticket system but that is overkill and not really used to my needs.

    Quick curious question, memory allocation addresses are choosed by the language compiler or is it the OS which chooses the addresses for the memory asked? This is from a doubt about virtual memory, where it could be quickly explained as "let the process think he owns all the memory", but what happens on 64 bits architectures where only 48 bits are used for memory addresses if the process wants a higher address? Lets say you do a int a = malloc(sizeof(int)); and you have no memory left from the previous system call so you need to ask the OS for more memory, is the compiler the one who determines the memory address to allocate this variable, or does it just ask the OS for memory and it allocates it on the address returned by it?

    How can I get a list of the IP addresses or host names from a local network easily in Python? It would be best if it was multi-platform, but it needs to work on Mac OS X first, then others follow. Edit: By local I mean all active addresses within a local network, such as 192.168.xxx.xxx. So, if the IP address of my computer (within the local network) is 192.168.1.1, and I have three other connected computers, I would want it to return the IP addresses 192.168.1.2, 192.168.1.3, 192.168.1.4, and possibly their hostnames.

    I am currently in the process of migrating away from Facebook (privacy concerns, mostly). For obvious reasons, I want to save away the email addresses from my friends' profile pages. However, this turned out to be a rather hard task, because the Facebook API doesn't let you access any mail addresses. However, I just tried the automatic contact import feature of Skype, and it seems to be able to retrieve the email addresses of my friends from Facebook. Does anyone know how it's done so I could replicate it?

    I wanted to ask a multi-part question. Does Comcast Cable Internet services record MAC Addresses of the Router behind the cable modem. I know they record it for the modem itself. But is there a way for the Modem/Comcast to relay and keep logs of the MAC ID of the Router itself? Then does a windows operating system Log the MAC ID of the Router when its connected to it?     I've got to send a bulk email out to a bunch of people in reply to emails they sent me. I've got all the original emails stored in a single outlook folder. I want to extract all of the reply-to addresses from the emails in that folder so I can send an email to all of them. http://thetechieguy.wordpress.com/2008/04/22/extracting-email-address-from-outlook-2007-folder/ shows you how to export the FROM address of these emails, however a large amount of them came from a web service that sends emails 'on behalf of' the person I'm trying to mail to. So I need the reply-to address, and the export wizard doesn't do that. Does anyone have a tip on how to do this? This is Outlook 2007 on Exchange 2010.

    Let me uncover my intent. My host provides hundreds of IPV6 addresses free, but charge for an IPV4 address. I have several sites under one server and I was wondering if I can give each site/domain it's own ipv6 address. Is that even possible? If so how? I've read quite a bit about ipv6 but I do not understand it as clear as I'd like. My main goal is, for each domain/site to have it's own unique IP, so someone can't do a reverse ip look up and see what sites I have on that server. Thanks in advance for the patience.

    I have to set up a VPN (various clients connecting to a web service on a server, which is also the VPN server) and I want to make sure that no user will share his/her credentials with third parties. I know that this problem is not solvable completely, but I'd want to set up some additional security checks... Some idea I have: 1) An additional check on MAC address, but... are MAC addresses preserved thru VPN? 2) Some kind of extra identification of the client (User Agent, open ports, I want to make sure that is the very same client I authorized). 3) I would like to avoid commercial solutions like a security token... One for public traffic and one for a management traffic. Both interfaces have same mac address. DHCP server can detect interfaces via dhcp option field and dhcp class declarations. Every terminal have to have static ip address instead of dynamic address. With dynamic address and dynamic pools this would be an easy task. Or is there any dhcp server that can do this?

  • Prevent IIS7 HTTPS from binding to all SSL IP addresses

    I've had this interesting problem with IIS7. I have a number of HTTPS sites in IIS7. That hasn't been a problem, until I wanted to go and set up VisualSVN Server using an SSL certificate. The installer had trouble starting the service. When I looked in the event log, the error was that "the file is already in use by another process." I figured that the "file" was really a socket, and checked with netstat - even though IIS was only bound to three specific IP addresses (.160, .156, and .168) with port 443, it was consuming *:443. I could stop the World Wide Web Publishing Service, start VisualSVN, and then start IIS, but then none of my SSL servers would start. Any helpful hints about how I could make IIS not try to default-bind to *:443? Thanks!!

I'm wondering how could I connect to the remote computer that has dynamic public ip address & private ip addresses assigned. I've 2 systems at home: xp system-------connected to internet(dynamic public ip) & allowed other users to connected to the internet on the interface. windows vista system--------enabled dhcp on the interface to access internet from xp. How could I remotely connect from my office to the 'vista system'?. If I've a router/modem at my home it may be possible to allow the ports for the system but I don't. Any tips?
