  • Temporarily remove Group Policy in Windows 7

    Using Windows 7 Professional I need to get access to the Folder Options screen. At work we primarily use Windows XP and are connected to a domain. Through Group Policy we disable access to the Folder Options. We use a tool called KillPol that temporarily removes Group Policy and let's me access the screen. This tool doesn't work on Windows 7 and I can't find a replacement. Any ideas on how I can get access to the Folder Options screen in Windows 7 when it is disabled through GP?

  • sprite group doesn't support indexing

    I have a sprite group created with pygame.sprite.Group() (and add sprites to it with the add method) How would I retrieve the nth sprite in this group? Code like this does not work: mygroup = pygame.sprite.Group(mysprite01) print mygroup[n].rect It returns the error: group object does not support indexing. For the moment I'm using the following function: def getSpriteByPosition(position,group): for index,spr in enumerate(group): if (index == position): return spr return False Although working, it just doesn't seem right... Is there a cleaner way to do this? EDIT: I mention a "position" and index but it's not important actually, returning any single sprite from the group is enough

What I am trying to do is, obtain the ID of a video from YouTube, and input the 11 character ID into the css of a div of a specific id by using jquery.     Hi there, I am using for some legacy db the corresponding domainclasses with mappings. Now the Ids of the entities are calculated by some stored Procedure in the DB which gives back the Id for the new row.(Its legacy, I cant change this) Now I create the new entity , set the Id and Call Save. But nothing happens. no exeption. Even NH Profiler does not say a bit. its as the Save call does nothing. I expect that NH thinks that the record is already in the db because its got an Id already. But I am using Id(x = x.id).GeneratedBy.Assigned() and intetionally the Session.Save(object) method. I am confused.     I'm trying to migrate a Windows XP deployment process to Windows 7. The process has been surprisingly smooth, after figuring out how to bring up a base system. We rely heavily on Group Policy software installation, which in XP can mean long periods on any given morning sitting around watching the machine install new updates. At least the typical Windows Installer message shows the user that something is indeed happening. As far as I can tell, Windows 7 retains the startup installation process (good), but eliminates the on-screen message to indicate what's happening (bad). All a user will see, possibly for a half-hour or more if they haven't restarted for a while, is the electric hamster wheel and the words "Please wait...". I forsee a significant increase in support calls... If you're familiar with msiexec.exe parameters, XP behaves like /qb-, and 7 behaves like /qn. I want the /qb- behavior back. Is there a way to re-enable the Windows Installer notices for Group Policy startup installations?

    I have a hyper-v cluster operating on win2k8 R2 in a 2003 forest. These servers are at our NOC with a DC that connects to our PDC at HQ via a persistent VPN. The cluster boxes are reporting a error event ID 1006 shown below. The DC is also reporting an error 5805 also shown below. I have found numorus posts regarding 1006 errors, but none for error ID 52's. It's weird, I can ping and I can browse network shares on the DC from each. I thought maybe a DNS or net work issue, but nslook up works too. However, they are able to circumvent this by typing the following into Explorer: \\localhost\C$ How can I disable this path but allow other UNC paths. For example they are allowed to access a shared folder on a different computer. eg. \\192.168.2.1\SharedTransfer Note: Simply Enabling the Group Policy: Remove Run menu from Start Menu will not work as this blocks all UNC paths.

    I trying to deploy the latest Java RE version via GP, Java 7 update 9. I want to update computers that are currently running an older version of Java, a mixture of 7.6 and 7.7, some computers are running versions as old as 6.31. Some are running a mixture of both. I would also like this GP to install Java if it's not installed. Previously I used push out Java updates to users machines as Java didn't remove the old version. So when it was done the user would restart their browser or pc to start using the latest version. Not the best way to manage it as it leaves the old version installed but it worked. I've created group policies before for printer deployment, log on drive mapping scripts, but never software deployment. I've extracted the Java MSI and created a transform file to suppress reboot etc using orca. As described on this site http://ivan.dretvic.com/2011/06/how-to-package-and-deploy-java-jre-1-6-0_26-via-group-policy/. I have also tried saving the edited MSI directly and that didn't work either. But it just won't deploy. I have tried to enable logging as suggested on this site http://openofficetechnology.com/node/32, GPO logging via UserEnvDebugLevel, Software deployment logging via AppmgmtDebugLevel and MSI logging, but there is no log C:\Windows\Debug\UserMode\userenv.log being created.   • How does the caller ID works on voip?

    Maybe this depends on the protocol, if so, I'm wondering mostly about SIP. That's all, just focus on the title please, but for a little background... I am using voipraider and I was just trying to set it up to have a caller id as my phone number, since I can't have this voip of mine on all the time (thus using DID or being able to receive calls through voip wouldn't be a solution here). I could actually make it work, but only using voipraider software. From other places, the caller ID doesn't show properly. So, I am wondering how it actually works to be able to go and look for a fix for this. I want details about the protocol, if that's relevant.

I've created directory /opt/d with properties: drwxrwxr-x 2 u1 u1 512B May 26 17:55 d AFAIK, this configuration allows both users write to directory. But, from u2: touch /opt/d/x touch: /opt/d/x: Permission denied And same configuration on RHEL5 works fine. What i've missed? Thanks.

    Work at a school and we've got a scenario. We block F8 on all computers so students cannot access Safe Mode to bypass Group Policy... But students are logging into their accounts using AD, and they are turning them off half way through. Then they are claiming that when they login next time, they have Local Administrator accounts. Is this right, but we have blocked F8 and Startup repair, so wondering how they actually did it. Cheers Richard
