    Are you having issues with Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 8? Is Internet Explorer 10 application not launching in Metro mode and always launching in Desktop mode? Continue reading the post to understand and fix the problem. When Internet Explorer 10 does not launch in Metro mode? On Windows 8 when Internet Explorer is launched from Start screen it launches in Metro UI mode and when launched from Desktop it launches in traditional desktop UI mode. But when Internet Explorer  is not set as default browser, Windows 8 always launches Internet Explorer in Desktop mode irrespective of whether its launched from Start screen or Desktop. This generally happens when we install the browsers Firefox or Chrome and set them as default browser. How to restore Internet Explorer 10 Metro mode? The problem can be resolved by setting Internet Explorer 10 as the default web browser in Windows 8. But setting default web browser in Windows 8 is a bit tricky as there is no option available Options screen of  of Internet Explorer. To set Internet Explorer 10 as the default web browser follow these steps 1. Go to Start screen of Windows 8 and search for Default Programs app by typing Default using keyboard. 2. Click on the link Set your default programs 3. Choose Internet Explorer on the left section of the screen(pointer 1) and then click on the option Set this program as default available at the bottom right section(pointer 2) 4. That’s it. Now Internet Explorer is set as default web browser and from now onwards you will be able to launch Metro UI based Internet Explorer from Start screen

    If you have to use Internet Explorer for work and need to open a different set of work-specific tabs every day, is there a quick and easy way to do it instead of opening each one individually? The Question SuperUser reader bobSmith1432 is looking for a quick and easy way to open different daily sets of tabs in Internet Explorer for his work: When I open Internet Explorer on different days of the week, I want different tabs to be opened automatically. I have to run different reports for work each day of the week and it takes a lot of time to open the 5-10 tabs I use to run the reports. It would be a lot faster if, when I open Internet Explorer, the tabs I needed would automatically load and be ready. Is there a way to open 5-10 different tabs in Internet Explorer depending on the day of the week? Example: Monday – 6 Accounting Pages Tuesday – 7 Billing Pages Wednesday – 5 HR Pages Thursday – 10 Schedule Pages Friday – 8 Work Summary/Order Pages Is there an easier way for Bob to get all those tabs to load and be ready to go each day instead of opening them individually every time? The Answer SuperUser contributor Julian Knight has a simple, non-script solution for us: Rather than trying the brute force method, how about a work around? Open up each set of tabs either in different windows, or one set at a time, and save all tabs to bookmark folders. Put the folders on the bookmark toolbar for ease of access. Each day, right-click on the appropriate folder and click on ‘Open in tab group’ to open all the tabs. You could put all the day folders into a top-level folder to save space if you want, but at the expense of an extra click to get to them. If you really must go further, you need to write a program or script to drive Internet Explorer. The easiest way is probably writing a PowerShell script.   • Unable to access internet from devices connected over wifi hotspot with ubuntu 13.04

    I am using ubuntu 13.04 and till couple of days back I was able to connect to internet using the hotspot connection I had created previously when I started using ubuntu 10... But two days back I noticed that devices are getting connected to wifi but are not able to access internet.. I deleted my old wifi hotspot and created a new one by going to network settings and there by clicking create a hotspot option.. I logged in from my wife's laptop which is running on windows 7. It was able to establish connection but was not able to access the internet.. Same is happening with my iPhone too I am able to connect to hotspot but for some reason it is not able to access internet... Any help would be highly appreciated.. Thanks Jacob

    I am an Ubuntu user for the last couple of years. Recently facing problem to connect my new laptop into the Internet. I have an ISP connection which provide me a NAT address. I changed all the information in network configuration.The network icon shows it is connected to Internet but when I browse, ping shows no Internet connection. /etc/network/interfaces look like this: auto eth0 iface eth0 inet static address 192.168.100.118(put you internet address provided by the ISP) gateway 192.168.100.1(gateway address) netmask 255.255.255.0 network 192.168.100.0 And when I ping my DNS server IP get the reply from DNS server. I can not understand the problem,it should be mentioned that I also changed the Physical address of my laptop for using the existing connection. In windows the connection is working fine. Any suggestion in this question will help me a lot. Thanks in advance.

  • Program Installer Not Detecting Internet

    Hello I am trying to install a program through the Ubuntu Software Center. Every time I click install I get a Message stating "failed to download package files, check your Internet connection". I have tried different software installs and get the same message. I do have an Internet connection (hence being able to write this), I have restarted the computer and have reset the Internet (twice) but still get the same message. Any Ideas??

  • Configure Web app for external access (IIS7), allowing only certain users via AD group. All users need internal access

    We have a Web app running in IIS7 (Server 2008 R2). I now need to allow external access with an SSL certificate, so certain users (e.g. the owner of the company) can use it remotely without VPN. They want to roll out the external access only to those specific users at first (thinking: a Windows credential prompt), BUT everyone will still need access internally (HTTP), without the prompt. I have the SSL cert installed on the server and public DNS configured. I've been trying to figure out how to work the authentication/authorization. I was thinking I need to disable Anonymous authn and set Windows authn, then I keep coming back to 'URL Authorization' in my research for the group setting; however, when I tried URL authz, (removed allow all, added allow rule for the special group), it broke the site internally (403.2 Forbidden, I believe it was). I thought maybe setting up a second site in IIS pointing to the same program would work, but the exact same thing happened (and again with a new app pool, just for kicks). So I guess my question is, how would you do this: allow external access, limited to users in a specific AD group, while still allowing internal access without a credentials prompt? How do I separate the external HTTPS and internal HTTP authorization requirements? Will I need to just copy the entire contents of the app in Windows Explorer to a new folder and create my external site from that? Is Windows authentication the correct option for this? I did come across this, which refers to creating a custom module.     I have a domain controller running on Windows 2008 Server R2 and users login to application servers on which Windows 2003 Server SP2 is installed. I have applied a Group Policy to clean temporary internet files on exit i.e to delete all temporary internet files when users close the browser. But the group policy doesn't seem to work as user profile size keeps on increasing and the major space is occupied by temporary internet files therefore increasing the disk usage. How can i enforce automatic deletion of temporary internet files?

  • VBE6.dll not found when opening Access 2007 database in Access 2010

    I have an access 2007 database that has some VBA code in it. I need to open this database in Access 2010, but when I first open it I get an error that says: the expression on open you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: file not found: VBE6.dll I believe it's becuase Access 2010 references VBE7.dll when it loads up, and my database was built to reference VBE6.dll. I've tried putting VBE6.dll in the same folder that VBE7.dll resides in, hoping it would just get loaded up, but no luck. What can I do to resolve this?

  • Automating Access 2007 Queries (changing one criteria)

    So, I have 6 queries and I want to run them all once at the end of each month. (I know a bit about SQL but they're simply built using Access's design view). So, in the next few days, perhaps I'll run the 6 queries for May, as May just ended. I only want the data from the month that just ended, so the query has Criteria set as the name of the month (e.g., May). Now, it's not hugely time consuming to change all of these each month, but is there some way to automate this? Currently, they're all set to April and I want to change them all to May when I run them in a few days. And each month, I'd like to type the month (perhaps in a textbox in a form or somewhere else if you know a better way) just once and have it change all 6 queries, without having to manually open all 6, scroll over to the right field and change the Criteria. Note (about VBA): I have used Excel VBA so I know the basics of VBA but I don't really know anything specific to Access (other than seeing code a few times). And, others will use this who do not know anything about Access VBA. So, I think I have found a similar question/answer that could do this in VBA, but I'd rather do it some other way. If the query needs to be slightly redesigned later, probably by someone who doesn't know Access VBA at all, it'd be nice to have a solution not involving VBA if that is even possible.

  • internet sharing over wifi between ubuntu 11.10 and windows7

    So i have looked up a lot of forums for these solution but haven't really found one that works. I have a laptop running ubuntu 11.10 connected to the ethernet cord at home and i want to share the internet over wifi with my friend's laptop running windows7. I did not think it would be so difficult, I tried a lot of things: I went to networks and then wireless and set up a wifi hotspot, my laptop got connected to it and the ipv4 was set to "shared to other computers". Thankfully the network was discoverable and after some tries my friend was able to connect to the network, but it still showed that there was no internet access. I tried coniguring the tcp addresses of the wifi on his laptop. Bottom line: did not work. I went to the network manager, clicked on create a new wireless network, created one with security WEP 40/128 bit passphrase, tried the other 2 options later, and did the same thing as with the wifi, this network was also not discoverable initially and after some tries, we could connect to it but then ICS was not working although there was a working internet on my ubuntu laptop. I would really appreciate if some one who has faced a similar problem and got it fixed to please give me a step by step solution of how to get this work, because this is a prety common problem with ubuntu distros I have noticed. Note: This however seems to work with ubuntu to ubuntu connections, but specifically cross OS connections like windows or my phone running android ICS are not able to see or if connect not able to share internet on my laptop

  • Really slow wireless internet on 12.04 with HP dv6 6070ca

    I was recently running the previous version of Ubuntu through Wine, and everything was working great. I decided to upgrade to pangolin when I saw it came out. After upgrading the internet was very slow (the estimated time on the updates was something like 4 days). I thought maybe this had something to do with the Wine installation, so I decided to finally do an actual dual boot. I partitioned my drive all nice and neat, but I made the mistake of connecting to the internet for the installation, and clicking the option to install updates and restricted extras. This was in the morning, circa 6 am. Fast forward to the evening, the installation is frozen at around 75%. In frustration I gave the ol girl a hard shut-down, which effectively rendered my machine useless. I used the thumb drive to reinstall Ubuntu, this time without connecting to the internet. Installed nice and easy, no problems, but the internet is still ridiculously slow. It took me about 20 minutes of frustration and hitting stop and reload repeatedly to even get this question page to open. This is important to me as now Windows won't even boot and I have to use ubuntu for the time being but I can't even bear to turn on my laptop due to the frustration that immediately ensues. Please help! Oh, and I'm relatively new so if there are some terminal commands that spew out info you guys would find useful let me know what they are and I'll post back the information.

  • MS Access 2003 - Failure to create MDE file: error VBA is corrupt?

    Ok so this is a brand new snag I have run into. I am trying to launch a new MDE from my source MDB file, and it is locking up Access. So in my mdb, I am first compacting and repairing, and then selecting create a new mde (just as I have done many times before). It looks like it is starting the process, but never gets to where it compacts when it is done, and access is not responding. So after I force close the app, I look in the folder where I am trying to create the MDE to and I see there is a new access db1 file there. If I try to open that it gives me an error that says file not found, and then it says the Visual Basic for Applications is corrupt. The thing is, I just made a very simple adjustment to the code since last launching an mde, and after this I double and triple checked it...its not that because its just a simple open this form and close this one addition. I did however have my source mdb file on a disc that I copied to my laptop, and then tried to re link the tables to the network drive (had them linked to other tables on my local drive so that I could develop offline)?? PLEASE HELP!!!

    We are in the process of switching over to ACCESS 2007. We have numerous data tables in ACCESS 2003 files. In one case, the user has 2007 on his PC and opend the front end in 2007. No problems. When the the user is done, he clicks a button that executes a macro full of update queries. The macro reaches the first query and halts. We get a messge saying we do not have permisons to write to this linked table (2003 format). There were no security files involved. We re-linked from 2007, same problem. LAN permssions were ok. I wound up having to import the tables to front end in order for the user to be able to do his job.

  • MS Access 2007 end user access

    I need some good advise. I have used Access for many years and I use Sharepoint but never the two combined. My newly created Access db needs to be shared with many users across the organization. The back end is SQL and the old way to distribute the database would be placing the db on a shared drive, connecting their PC ODBC connections to the SQL db and then they would open the database and have at it. This has become the OLD way. What is the best (and simpliest) way to allow the end users to utilize a frontend for data entry/edit reporting etc. Can I create a link through SharePoint and the user just open it from there. Your good advise is greatly approciated.

    I have just updated to Ubuntu 14.04 LTS on my laptop, and I seem to be having some internet problems. I have no internet connection through wifi or Ethernet, after both working in the previous version. I am not at all knowledgeable of Ubuntu and its workings, so if you could just tell me what to do, what to show you by just telling me commands etc. I think would be the only way I will understand sorry! I am asking this after many searches, all being in vein after needing a step involving some sort of internet access, which I can't get!   • Internet key not always detected by the operating system

    I've over the time, tried and installed several versions of Ubuntu. Those versions I like more than others are: Lubuntu and Kubuntu. Everything seems to work properly but the Internet key. I do not know if it may depends on the weather, the moonphase or the tides but the Internet key is not always detected by the system and is sometimes very difficult to establish a connection when I do need to connect to internet. Without applyng any change sometimes works sometimes not. I've so far not found the solution and I think is a quite strange behaviour of the operating system as if the settings are wrong, should never work Awaiting a kind answer from those of you willing to help.
