    When forwarding an email in Outlook (I have 2007), the header of the previous email shows. Sometimes it may show as follows: From: Joe Shmoe Sent: Saturday, June 12, 2010 10:01 PM To: Roee Adler Subject: Following our previous conversation Other times it will include the actual email address of the sender of the previous mail: From: Sponge Bob [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Saturday, June 12, 2010 2:26 PM To: Roee Adler Subject: Sponges and other stuff How do I force every forwarded email to include the mail address? When forwarding from my iPhone it constantly keeps the address just the way I want it, but from Outlook it seems to depend on whether the sender is a contact of mine or not. The reason I need this is for 37signals' Highrise CRM system.

    In outlook 2007 I group mails in a folder by subject with mails in each subject group sorted by Received date (newest to oldest) This works fine; I tick 'Subject' and 'Show in groups' in the context menu of the folder's table header. Life is good. But the subject groups in the mail folder are sorted alphabetically. I would like the group which has the newest mail to be the first group. Similar to how the arrange by 'Conversation' works Can this be done? I'm not averse to an add-in/macro type solution if anyone can point me at examples of implementing custom sorting in Outlook

    I am migrating a bunch of mailboxes to google apps. Each user owns several mailboxes each serving different domains (john has [email protected], [email protected], and so on...) Currently, those accounts are hosted on (edit:NOT an exchange server) an old SMTP/POP server we want to replace, and I need to edit their outlook 2007 configuration to change the pop, smtp and password parameters. The hard way to do it is to connect to each outlook session and edit the parameters manually. I want to avoid that. Because that represents over 700 accounts spread between 40 users... :'( How can I automate this configuration change ? In the active directory ? Using a PRF file ? note: I'm a linux sysadmin with very little knowledge of windows's black magic.

    Following an update to Exchange 2007 sp2 (yes I know very belated) I have an issues when logging onto Outlook. I see the below message... I also had a simlar issues with web access and as I am at home with IIS, this was easily solved. However I did notice that the server contains a number of keys for autodiscover.mycompamy.com, exchange.mycompamy.com etc and it seems that the SP2 upgraded didnt know how to deal with this. As I have a wildcard ssl, I think it would be prudent to remove all other certificates, however in order to stop the nag when opening outlook - what can I do?

  • Non-functioning AutoFilter on Locked Cells in Office 2008 - works in Office 2007

    I'm looking into a problem for someone, who works in a mixed OS environment. She has created an Excel spreadsheet in Office 2007 to act as a directory, with AutoFilter turned on for names, email addresses, departments etc. To make sure no one accidentally edits email addresses (for example), she has protected the work sheet. Accessing this worksheet on a PC running Excel 2007, everything runs as you'd expect. You can filter the sheet by any of the auto-filtered columns, and because the sheet is protected, the data integrity is guaranteed. However, if you access the sheet on a Mac running Excel 2008, you can't filter the columns. What's strange here is that the AutoFilter dropdown arrows do appear in each of the column headers as you would expect. It's just that nothing happens if you click on them. If you select one of the column header cells (say, 'First Name') and check the menu: Data-Filter, you can see that AutoFilter is ticked. As another datapoint, you also seem to be able to apply an Advanced filter to these rows on the protected sheets. Does anyone know why this might be? It seems to be a compatibility issue between Excel 2007/2008 (I know the codebase isn't the same), but I can't find any references to it in documentation or forums anywhere, and it would be good to know if there's a way around this. I understand that this can occur if the exchange information store is filling up with named properties... but I don't know how to determine which specific named property is at fault here. Is there a way to examine the DB for this type of info to see if there's a specific recurring named property that is consuming resources? -M

  • Outlook 2007 Clients attachments not opening correctly

    Hello, Thanks for taking the time to read this. We are having an issue on our Terminal Server clients that has me perplexed. We are running Server2003 x64 and Exchange 2007 environment. When we attempt to open an attachment for example .jpeg and the user selects to open the file, it prompts them to select a program to open the file with. The file associations apear to be fine, if I save the document to the desktop and open it, it opens with the correct program automatically. If i select "always open using this program" it will then open automatically, but I don't want to have to do this for all file types we open regularly on each client. Is this some sort of Exchange server security setting that is forcing them to associate the file? Does outlook or exchange maintain its own file association database? Thanks for reading!

  • Outlook 2007 panes keep moving when changing resolution

    This problem is really bugging one of our users ever since he got a larger monitor. Now that the monitor has a different resolution than his laptop, every time he unplugs it to go home, the three Outlook panes get all jumbled up. The navigation is huge, the list is shoved over, and the reading pane is almost smushed out of existence, the the opposite when he comes back in and the reading pane fills the screen. He's sick of adjusting it every day. He always runs it maximized, for maximum reading area. Keeping the application within a 1024x768 window wouldn't really be an option for him. Is there any way built into Outlook to automatically adjust pane sizes when the resolution changes? If not, is there a third-party app that can help, or a way to script the changes into the registry somehow? (I can do running the script whenever the screen state changes.) If this is fixed in 2010 I might be able to convince the other admin that this is a good enough reason to allow it (which will require a new beta version of our archiving software).

    Hiding a user by checking the "hide from exchange address lists" from exchange management console is not working. The user still shows up in GAL. When I ran Get-Mailbox -Identity _user_ | FL I got HiddenFromAddressListsEnabled : True So the check-box is working but the user still shows up. It's been over 3 weeks since hiding the user so it's not a time issue.     I have been asked by a Client to refresh one of their Machines. To do this i managed to get Windows XP Setup to run in Repair mode, and while in setup i ran a serial key grabber, which grabbed the key for Office 2007 The only thing is that the key grabber didnt tell me what edition of Office 2007 was installed. I have aqquired a number of ISO's for the different editions (Home & Student, Standard, Professional, Ultimate) but the key doesnt work in any of them. Is there a way to get the edition from the Serial Key, or is there a generic ISO that will install any edition depending on the Serial Key?

This happens for ALL existing documents, and doesn't happen for new documents. I can't find any option in the configuration that would control this behavior. I would like to restore the original/default behavior where documents are opening with Track Changes off, and in "Final showing markup" display. Steps to Reproduce Open Word 2007. Create a new document. Verify that track changes is off. Save the document and close Word. Open the document (either directly or through Word). Track changes is now on. Any ideas?

  • Word 2007 "Out of Memory or Disk Space" Error on launch

    Word 2007 is installed on a Vista Home Premium machine and whenever it starts up it opens what appears to be a dynamic installer to do something and then throws up the "Out of Memory or Disk Space" error. Word 2007 never completes starting up. Reinstalling Word hasn't helped and if I can avoid reinstalling Windows until Windows 7 is released and get Word working in the mean time, that would be ideal. I've been looking around for a solution, once of which seemed to point to a problem with the user account. I created a second user on the machine and Word still had the same problem. The other solution that seems possible is a corrupted normal.dot/normal.dotm file. However, even in the location it should be, I can't seem to find it. Am I going in the right direction with this? Is there another solution I haven't come across that will fix this? If it is possible that renaming normal.dot/normal.dotm how can I find it?

  • Sorting emails with no To: tags in Outlook

    Lately people at work have been sending with mailing lists in blind copies instead of just sending to the mailing lists. I think the intent is to prevent people from accidentally replying to all, but it means that these emails aren't sorted into their proper folders when they arrive. I'd like to at least be able to sort them into a common folder, but these emails arrive with no "To:" line in the headers. I'm using Outlook 2007, and I can't figure out a way to use their built-in rule editor to create a rule that sorts these emails. Is there a plugin that will allow me to sort emails like this, or a better rule editor? Updated: I know this is very old, but this is still very annoying to me. Is there any way to sort these kinds of emails to their own folder?

  • Bulk Deleting All Messages in a Folder in Microsoft Outlook Web Access

    How do you delete all messages in a folder in Outlook, preferrably through Web Access? I left my Outlook account unattended for several days (on vacation) and when I got back I found several folders with over 5k emails, mostly error logging or spam. When I try to open the Outlook client, it just locks up, presumably unable to download that many emails. I can view at most 100 emails at a time, but I can't select all emails to delete or permanently delete them immediately, so manually deleting this many emails is going to take a while. Gmail has a similar feature to select and delete all emails in a folder, and that's free so I figure being a quality non-free product from Microsoft, Outlook should have a similar feature (yes that's sarcasm). I've Googled, but I'm not finding anything. Is this possible?

I've tried deleting their profile and setting it up again, repairing office, uninstalling completely and then reinstalling, and swapping out memory sticks. But it didn't fix the problem since outlook is still complaining when it starts after a reboot. What can I do to get outlook to startup normally?

    Context: Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit edition Microsoft Office 2007 Outlook Steps to Reproduce: Make an event that recurs once a week. Wait a week. See that it pops up OK. Wait a month. Notice that it doesn't say that it is a month overdue. Expected Result: The usual note that the reminder is [x] weeks overdue. Actual Result: Something like "6 days overdue". Possible Excaberating Issue: I have many overdue reminders. For the ones that aren't time critical (and all other things being equal), I work by category and age. For example, I do health-related reminders when I'm doing health stuff; if I have 2 health-related reminders, I do the older one first. Big Question: How is Outlook supposed to handle this sort of overdue recurring reminder? Is there any way to get Outlook to act the way I expect it to?

  • Volume licenced copy of MS Office 2007 shows "Non Commercial Use" in title bar

    I have just removed the demo copy of Office 2007 preinstalled on a new laptop and replaced it with an install of the full professional edition downloaded from the MS Volume Licensing site and installed one of our volume licence keys, yet the apps (Word etc.) show "Non Commercial Use" in the title bar, which is what usually happens in the Home and Student edition. I have tried: Deleting the Office registration keys in the registry and using one of our other Office 2007 volume licence keys (we have 7) when prompted to re-register Uninstalling Office completely and reinstalling it from a newly-downloaded ISO burned to CD and also from a compressed file that installs from hard disk/USB stick (both from Microsoft - no dodgy stuff) Yet the non-commercial message persists. Although it's a cosmetic issue, the laptop is going to be used for customer presentations and so the sales person is rightly concerned about the image this portrays. I presume there may be something floating around the registry or in a file somewhere but I can't find it. Articles I have found elsewhere just refer to the message being related to the use of a Home and Student licence key, which is 100% not the case. Any thoughts? Thanks.

  • outlook security alert after adding a second wireless access point to the network

    Just added a Netgear WG103 Wireless Access Point in our conference room to allow visitors to access the internet through out internal network. When switched on visitors can connect to the intenet and everything works fine. Except, when the Access Point is switched on, normal users of the network get a Security Alert when they try to start Outlook 2007. The Security Alert is the same as the one shown in question 148526 asked by desiny back in June 2010 (http://serverfault.com/questions/148526/outlook-security-alert-following-exchange-2007-upgrade-to-sp2) rather than "autodiscover.ad.unc.edu" my security alert references our "Remote.server.org.uk". If I view the certificate it relates to "Netgear HTTPS:....", but the only Netgear equipment we have is the new Access Point installed in the conference room. If the Access Point is not switched on we do not get the Security Alert. At first I thought it was because we had selected "WPA-PSK & WPA2-PSK" Network Authentication Type but it continues to occur even if we opt for "Shared Key" WEP Data Encryption. I do not understand why adding a Netgear Wireless Access point would cause Outlook to issue a Security Alert when users try to read their email. Does anyone know what I have to do to get rid of the Security Alert? Thanks in advance for reading this and helping me out.
