  Hi Iam developing an image viewer application just like irfan-view or acdsee which should be capable to view lots of different image file formats (not just the standard ones which can be done with System.Drawing.Image). Iam currently using ImageMagick but it isn't very fast and seems to be unstable with some image files. Can anyone suggest a good imaging library, ideally with a .NET wrapper already present?

While I can find examples of attoparsec parsing HTTP, which is essentially text based, I cannot find an example parsing actual binary, for example, a TCP packet, or image file, or mp3.   What are all the file formats supported by UIWebView? In my testing, I found that it supports XLS, DOC, PPT, PDF but not XLSX, and DOCX, RTF. It supports image files like, JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP, not sure about TIFF or Exactly, what all types are supported is not clear... The UIWebView documentation also doesn't state it clearly. Could someone please help?

• XStream <-> Alternative binary formats (e.g. protocol buffers)

  We currently use XStream for encoding our web service inputs/outputs in XML. However we are considering switching to a binary format with code generator for multiple languages (protobuf, Thrift, Hessian, etc) to make supporting new clients easier and less reliant on hand-coding (also to better support our message formats which include binary data). However most of our objects on the server are POJOs with XStream handling the serialization via reflection and annotations, and most of these libraries assume they will be generating the POJOs themselves. I can think of a few ways to interface an alternative library: Write an XStream marshaler for the target format. Write custom code to marshal the POJOs to/from the classes generated by the alternative library. Subclass the generated classes to implement the POJO logic. May require some rewriting. (Also did I mention we want to use Terracotta?) Use another library that supports both reflection (like XStream) and code generation. However I'm not sure which serialization library would be best suited to the above techniques.

  We are developing XML over HTTP service and we need a way to document the XML interface. Our supported XMLs generally are subsets of some industry standard XML API, which unfortunately lacks any good documentation. It has XSDs though with some annotations, so we use this go generate the initial documentation and then remove the unsupported parts and refine the result. But this process is tedious and the results aren't at all great. Any suggestion about documentation formats and tools? I prefer to have HTML output and possibly more, e.g. PDF. Oh, and we are mixed Linux and Windows shop, so the tools should work well on both.

  I am working on a project that has a requirement such that login details can only be accessed from one machine at one time. For example, if I grant you access to my website and you login from your home machine, the system will store this settings in a cookie/database. Now if you try the same login details on your work machine or any other machine, the system will not let you log into the system. The login will now only work from home machine. Any suggestions on how to achieve this would be helpful. Any resources you can point me towards would also be appreciated.

  Hi, Can anybody help regarding my problem?I created an application that upload photos. the photos are stored into a specific directory.When the photo uploaded is greater than the number of bytes allowed , the photo should be resize in order to have a size standard. The problem is, the photo is not resizing due to the lack of permission of the user to the specific directory in which the photos are stored.Is there any way around, to resize the photo without having granting permission to the application users?

• MediaWiki: workaround for watchlist restricted to 7 days?

  I'm running MediaWiki 1.13.2. When I go to my watchlist, I'm limited to only viewing the last 7 days (though MediaWiki should permit me to view the last 30 days). I've tried: Clicking the all button Changing the URL Changing the settings under MY PREFERENCES-WATCHLIST. When I save (e.g. 30 days) it resets back to 7 days! Googling for an answer... Anyone heard of this bug before? Is there a workaround? I can't see a setting anywhere for this to be a maximum.

These calculations may be actually applied to integers too, but there are no C++-like templates in Java and I don't want to duplicate the implementation code, so I simply use "double" version for ints. Does JVM spec guarantees the correctness of integer operations such a <=,=, +, -, *, and / (in case of remainder==0) when the operations are emulated as corresponding floating point ops? (Any integer, of course, has reasonable size to be represented in double's mantissa)

  If I create a singleton class in the context of a dll, the singleton class is instantiated once and used by all instances of the dll. I am using a dll as a plug-in for an application. Now the following thing came to my mind: If I use a singleton Class, it will be shared across multiple instances of the plug-in. However, this makes it difficult to manage the lifetime of the singleton class efficiently. The only way I could think of would be to use a reference count and to make the singleton delete its self when the reference count is 0. Does anyone have any better ideas on that? Is there any good way to restrict the singleton object to one instance of the dll? Language is c++

  I need to update my datepickers' date format (mm.dd.yyyy etc) using a select box. I am currently using Eyecon's Bootstrap Datepicker because it had the smallest files size that I could find (8k minified), and includes the date formats I need. I also tried to trigger date format changes in several other datepickers without any success. • Sharing rails fragments between formats

  Hi I'm toying with mobile_fu and want to share some fragments between the different views. E.g. views/ item/ view.html.erb view.mobile.rb shared/ _common.erb In both view.html.erb and view.mobile.erb I want to share the same fragment '_common.erb' without having to specify the format (should you ever have to specify the format inside a fragment? It doesn't seem like The Rails Way?). Let's say for arguments's sake it's because it's in a helper or whatever -- the point is that I need to share fragments in a 'well-defined and Railsy way' across formats. Let's take this fairly innocuous snippet <% render :fragment => 'shared/common' %> I've tried 3 file name conventions: _common.html.erb only works for html /item/view/xx fails with 'shared/_common.erb not found') however _common.erb fails for html and works for mobile (maybe mobile_fu is doing something wacky?) -- same error as for .html.erb version above _common.rhtml does work for both I'm thinking that: that rhtml works for both is a legacy hack and I'm loathe to rename all the shared fragments .rhtml to get the behaviour I want. • Cannot translate date formats from rails form to mysql db

  I have a simple search form in rails 3 that has two date fields. I'm having a problem getting these dates into my mysql db. I've tried using the american_date gem, specifying date formats in my initializers, in the config/locales/en.yml file, and directly on the date on the date fields themselves. Currently, I'm setting the rails-approved date format in the view - <%= f.text_field :depart_date, :value=> Date.today.strftime('%Y-%m-%d') %> The dateformat in my DB is also YYYY-mm-dd, so things should be going smoothly. The console tells me that the two date fields are both class = "Date" I think I've found the disconnect.
