  • Best practice how to store HTML in a database column

    I have an application that modifies a table dynamically, think spreadsheet), then upon saving the form (which the table is part of) ,I store that changed table (with user modifications) in a database column named html_Spreadhseet,along with the rest of the form data. right now I'm just storing the html in a plain text format with basic escaping of characters... I'm aware that this could be stored as a separate file, the source table (html_workseeet) already is. But from a data handling perspective its easier to save the changed html table to and from a column so as to avoid having to come up with a file management strategy (which folder will this live in, now must include folder in backups, security issues now need to apply to files, how to sync db security with file system etc.), so to minimize these issues I'm only storing the ... part in the database column. My question is should I gzip the HTML , maybe use JSON, or some other format to easily store and retrieve the HTML from the database column, what is the best practice to store HTML content in a datbase? Or just store it as I currently am as an escaped text column?

    I was trying to install a program. And It said that my Dependencies were unmet. And that I should run, sudo apt-get -f install. I have moved everything I didn't need in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ into the trash. My source.list is all Natty while I am running Oneiric. So maybe I need a new source.list?   • Why doesn't Ubuntu nvidia-current support the later proprietary drivers for LTS releases?

    I wrote a small MATLAB program with a gui. Inside the gui I have, among other things, a plot in which the user should be able to select two points. For this I use the function ginput, which creates a crosshair for selection. Unfortunatley the crosshair extends the whole window and is not restricted to the plot, which doesn't look nice and is confusing for the user. How can the crosshair be restricted only to the area of the plot?

    I'm creating a docx generator with POI and would like to use predefined formats. Word includes several formats like Title, Heading 1..10 etc. These formats are predefined in every DOCX you create with Word. I would like to use them in my docx generator. I tried the following but the format was not applied: paragraph = document.createParagraph(); lastParagraph.setStyle("Heading1"); I also tried "heading 1", "heading1" and "Heading1" as style, but none of them worked. The API documentation doesn't show any details. I analysed a docx file created with Word 2007 and found out "Heading1" would be correct. Unfortunately, the style is not defined in the docx. Do I have to create this style manually? Can anyone point me to the correct solution?

  • apt-get 403 Forbidden

    I've start a new job today and I am trying to set up my machine to run through their Windows server. I've managed to get a internet connection through the server now but now I can't run apt-get update as I get a "403 Forbidden" error. This is for every repo under my source list, apart from translations(?). I do have a proxy in apt.conf, if I don't have it I get a 407 Permission Denied error.   • What are the valid DepthBuffer Texture formats in DirectX 11? And which are also valid for a staging resource?

    I am trying to read the contents of the depth buffer into main memory so that my CPU side code can do Some Stuff™ with it. I am attempting to do this by creating a staging resource which can be read by the CPU, which I will copy the contents of the depth buffer into before reading it. I keep encountering errors however, because of, I believe, incompatibilities between the resource format and the view formats. Threads like these lead me to believe it is possible in DX11 to access the depth buffer as a resource, and that I can create a resource with a typeless format and have it interpreted in the view as another, but I cannot get it to work. What are the valid formats for the resource to be used as the depth buffer? Which of these are also valid for a CPU accessible staging resource?

  • Update Manager unable to get updates

    In last few days my Ubuntu 11.10 update manager is unable to get new updates. When I checked update log I saw that for couple of updates it says "Network isn't available". For other updates it downloaded logs and and internet connection also works fine. Unable to attached screenshot due to SPAM prevention policy.   • Using LogParser - part 2

    PersonAddress.csv SalesOrderDetail.tsv In part 1 of this series we downloaded and installed LogParser and used it to list data from a csv file. That was a good start and in this article we are going to see the different ways we can stream data and choose whether a whole file is selected. We are also going to take a brief look at what file types we can interrogate. If we take the query from part 1 and add a value for the output parameter as -o:datagrid so that the query becomes LOGPARSER "SELECT top 15 * FROM C:\LP\person_address.csv" -o:datagrid and run that we get a different result. A pop-up dialog that lets us view the results in a resizable grid. Notice that because we didn't specify the columns we wanted returned by LogParser (we used SELECT *) is has added two columns to the recordset - filename and rownumber. This behaviour can be very useful as we will see in future parts of this series. You can click Next 10 rows or All rows or close the datagrid once you are finished reviewing the data. You may have noticed that the files that I am working with are different file types - one is a csv (comma separated values) and the other is a tsv (tab separated values). If you want to convert a file from one to another then LogParser makes it incredibly simple. Rather than using 'datagrid' as the value for the output parameter, use 'csv': logparser "SELECT SalesOrderID, SalesOrderDetailID, CarrierTrackingNumber, OrderQty, ProductID, SpecialOfferID, UnitPrice, UnitPriceDiscount, LineTotal, rowguid, ModifiedDate into C:\Sales_SalesOrderDetail.csv FROM C:\Sales_SalesOrderDetail.tsv" -i:tsv -o:csv Those familiar with SQL will not have to make a very big leap of faith to making adjustments to the above query to filter in/out records from the source file. LogParser has a pretty impressive list of file formats that it can parse and a good selection of output formats that will let you generate output in a format that is useable for whatever process or application you may be using. COM: provides an interface to Custom Input Format COM Plugins. So, you can query data from any of the types on the left and really easily get it into a format where it is ready for analysis by other tools.   • Is it possible to get Logged in user Non Restricted token from a service on Vista?

    Hello All, I need to create a process with integrity level high, so that it can do all the administrative tasks. But the created process should run in the current logged in desktop i.e. it should not run in session 0. By default only administrators will log on to the console. The service should launch the process, as service is running in session 0 and system account. Can it any how get the non restricted token and use it in CreateProcessAsUser, so that the process created does have integrity level of high or system. Is it possible? One more thing is i should get the non restricted token with out prompting for user name or password of the logged in user. Thanks

  • Restricted blogspot account. Unable to subscribe using Google Reader?

    I used blogspot.com and restricted its viewership to just its authors. However I cannot use Google Reader to subscribe to the RSS feed. Is there a workaround? I need to be notified somehow whenever somebody posts to that private blog. I am one of its authors. My blogspot.com allows me to set the readership to just its authors. So that is what I have done. I did not do any password protect settings at all.
