    I'm looking for the BEST asp.net calendar/schedule component that it out there. I like the look of google calendar, and it absolutely needs to be a native .net component, which can be customized. I don't mind if it is part of a bigger framework (like telerik, for example). Links to samples would be great.

  • SSIS Package deployed - Fails when executed from schedule

    I've deployed a SSIS package to my SQL server. I can run the package fine by connecting to Integration Services in SSMS and right clicking on it and choosing "Run Package" However, if I schedule the package, it fails. It tells me to check the logs for information on why, but there is nothing in there... Any ideas? (this is my first SSIS package by the way)

In my init method I'm doing this : [self schedule:@selector(newMonster:) interval:1]; It create a new monster every second. But I'd like that the interval change over time. For example : -The 10 first seconds of the game: a new monster appears every 1 second. -Then for 10 seconds: a new monster appears every 0.8 second. -And after every 0.5 second... How can I do that? I tried the following: Process.Start(Application.ExecutablePath); Process.GetCurrentProcess().Kill(); And it doesn't work because the application is setup as a single instances application. Then I tired this: Process.GetCurrentProcess().Kill(); Process.Start(Application.ExecutablePath); And it doesn't work because once we Kill the process it will not hit line 2 Is there a way to schedule a the .Start so that I don't run into issue #1.

  • c++: Schedule function call in the future?

    Using Visual C++ with MFC. When a certain event occurs in my code, I want to set a function to be called 10 seconds later to perform some activity. The handling of the event happens in a static library that doesn't have any direct links to MFC (and I'd like to keep it that way). How can I schedule a function to be called at some point in the future? Use a Timer I guess? How do I decouple the Timer (which is an MFC dependency) so my business code doesn't have a direct dependency on the GUI? Or maybe something else besides a timer?

    We have hundreds of thousands of tasks that need to be run at a variety of arbitrary intervals, some every hour, some every day, and so on. The tasks are resource intensive and need to be distributed across many machines. Right now tasks are stored in a database with an "execute at this time" timestamp. To find tasks that need to be executed, we query the database for jobs that are due to be executed, then update the timestamps when the task is complete. Naturally this leads to a substantial write load on the database. As far as I can tell, we are looking for something to release tasks into a queue at a set interval. (Workers could then request tasks from that queue.) What is the best way to schedule recurring tasks at scale? For what it's worth we're largely using Python, although we have no problems using components (RabbitMQ?) written in other languages.

I need to generate following reports Schedule Variance Effort Variance Rework Percentage Wasted Efforts For rework percentage, I am using condition like the task.Start date should be greater than or equal to the start date and task.Finish date should be less than or equal to finish date. but I am concerned about the tasks those are starting before the start date and ending before the end date. In such situation I only need the rework % for the number of hrs spent during start and end and not for the hrs spent before start date.     I want to download a data file from a remote ftp server to my machine at regular intervals. Once the file is downloaded I want to call another script which will process the file. My development machine is mac os x, the eventual deployment environment is linux. What's would be the stock standard way to automate this? I know I can use cron to schedule curl to download and to run a script that will process the downloaded file at regular intervals, and I know could write a slightly more complex script or an application that would do this and add error handling, rescheduling and sending status emails. But one of my requirements for this project is to write as little custom code as possible, instead I should try to use standard, tried and true existing tools, and if I do have to write code, to try and write the most straightforward code possible. The reason for this is the code will potentially be installed on a large number of machines, all of which will need to be tweaked, customised and maintained by different people, long after I am gone from the project, so the intention is to use well documented, well supported tools as much as possible. This seems such a common task, there must be tools and scripts all over the internet, written by people who have carefully considered everything that could possibly go wrong when you need to download and process a file from a remote server at regular intervals, with error handling, rescheduling and sending status messages. Is that what Expect is for? What would you recommend? (the system will be downloading weather prediction data every six hours, so that the system can prepare in the event of bad weather warnings)

    I have the interesting problem of representing complex schedule data in a database. As a guideline, I need to be able to represent the entirety of what the iCalendar -- ics -- format can represent, but in a database. I'm not actually implementing anything relating to ics, but it gives a good scope of the type of rules I need to be able to model. I need to allow allow representation of a single event or a reoccurring event based on multiple times per day, days of the week, week of a month, month, year, or some combination of those. For example, the third Thursday in November annually, or the 25th of December annually, or every two weeks starting November 2 and continuing until September 8 the following year. I don't care about insertion efficiency but query efficiency is critical. The operation I will be doing most often is providing either a single date/time or a date/time range, and trying to determine if the defined schedule matches any part of the date/time range. Other operations can be slower. For example, given January 15, 2010 at 10:00 AM through January 15, 2010 at 11:00 AM, find all schedules that match at least part of that time. (i.e. a schedule that covers 10:30 - 11:00 still matches.) Any suggestions? I looked at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1016170/how-would-one-represent-scheduled-events-in-an-rdbms but it doesn't cover the scope of the type of reoccurance rules I'd like to model.

Clarification: Must be hosted i.e. not require my own hardware or IT staff I'm looking for an app to schedule people with specific tasks at specific times and monitor the outcomes. I'm already using Mingle (for stories), Basecamp (to run the business) and Exceptional (to track bugs). I'm not looking for a bug-tracking system or a story management application (I already looked at VersionOne, but chose Mingle due to it's nicer UI) My response to the answer being auto-selected: I still don't feel the answer (chosen for me) is the correct one. It's a useful list but little more, and doesn't provide the solution I was seeking.

  • How to trigger cross-platform jobs between Windows and Unix

    I have an application which has components on Windows and Unix. I need to run overnight jobs which initiate tasks/jobs on both environment. These need to be sequenced so I cannot simple use Cron / Task Scheduler. For each job, there will be a controlling script either on Windows or Unix, but this script will need to initiate jobs on the other environment and detect when they are complete and a success/failure code. In the past I have achieved this using 'flag files' on a samba share. This worked but required 'polling' behaviour on the receiving end which I do not consider optimal. I would prefer not to have to embed user credentials in script if possible.

    I'm trying to make a scheduled task, and its just not working for me. This is the command I type in CMD: schtasks /create /sc minute /mo 1 /tn test /tr calc.exe /st 19:17:00 /sd 12/14/2009 I'm trying to tell the computer to run calculator every minute starting at 7:09 PM. Although I get a success message after I type this in and hit enter, nothing happens at 7:09. What gives? Thanks in advance.

  • Copy SQL Server data from one server to another on a schedule

    I have a pair of SQL Servers at different webhosts, and I'm looking for a way to periodically update the one server using the other. Here's what I'm looking for: As automated as possible - ideally, without any involvement on my part once it's set up. Pushes a number of databases, in their entirely (including any schema changes) from one server to the other Freely allows changes on the source server without breaking my process. For this reason, I don't want to use replication, as I'd have to break it every time there's an update on the source, and then recreate the publication and subscription One database is about 4GB in size and contains binary data. I'm not sure if there's a way to export this to a script, but it would be a mammoth file if I did. Originally, I was thinking of writing something that takes a scheduled full backup of each database, FTPs the backups from one server to the other once they're done, and then the new server picks it up and restores it. The only downside I can see to this is that there's no way to know that the backups are done before starting to transfer them - can these backups be done synchronously? Also, the server being refreshes is our test server, so if there's some downtime involved in moving the data, that's fine. Does anybody out there have a better idea, or is what I'm currently considering the best non-replication way to go? Thanks for your help, everybody. UPDATE: I ended up designing a custom solution to get this done using BAT files, 7Zip,command line FTP, and OSQL, so it runs in a completely automatic way and aggregates the data from a dozen servers across the country. I've detailed the steps in a blog entry. Thanks for all your input!

    Using PHP, I have a query that goes through my DB looking for pending tasks with reminder triggers at certain times of the day. I have a cronjob that runs every 10 mins and checks the DB for any rows that has "remind_me" field set to go off within the next 10 mins. If it does find something, what's the best way to queue an email with the task information? I guess I'll need some sort of message queue system, but how does the email part work? Will I need another cronjob that runs every minute to check the queue system?
