  • Programming time schedule for porting a program.

    - by Lothar
I'm working on a large program which has an abstracted GUI API. It is very GUI based, many dialogs and a few nasty features which rely heavily on the message flow of the GUI (correct sequences of focus/mouse/active handling etc.) - not easy to port I now want to port it from the currently used FOX Toolkit to native Cocoa/MFC. I give myself a timeframe until the end of the year but my main work will be to continue development work with the existing toolkit, but there is no planned release for end customers before both tasks are done. My question is how should i spend my time? Stop working on the main program and do a 90% port (about 3 month) of the GUI first Splitting everything into smaller sessions of one month each. Assigning Monday/Tuesday to the GUI project and the rest of the week for the app. Finishing the App first, then port. I think there are three arguments which i need to balance. Motivation, i want to see something going on on both projects Brain Input Overflow, both tasks require a lot of detail information in my brain and sometimes enough is just enough. I guess the porting is intervowen so porting would also require a lot of code changes in the existing code and the new code that will be written in the meantime.

  • schedule task with spring mvc

    - by user3586352
I want to run the following method every specific time in spring mvc project it works fine and print first output but it doesn't access the database so it doesn't display list the method public class ScheduleService { @Autowired private UserDetailService userDetailService; public void performService() throws IOException { System.out.println("first output"); List<UserDetail> list=userDetailService.getAll(); System.out.println(list); } config file <!-- Spring's scheduling support --> <task:scheduled-tasks scheduler="taskScheduler"> <task:scheduled ref="ScheduleService" method="performService" fixed-delay="2000"/> </task:scheduled-tasks> <!-- The bean that does the actual work --> <bean id="ScheduleService" class="com.ctbllc.ctb.scheduling.ScheduleService" /> <!-- Defines a ThreadPoolTaskScheduler instance with configurable pool size. --> <task:scheduler id="taskScheduler" pool-size="1"/>

  • is there any cross platform process manager tool

    - by lvlv
I need a program that is able to launch a set of processes according to a schedule/configuration; the program would run in the background and restart the processes in case they crash. There are standard tools for this kind of task on both windows and unix - what I need is a cross platform program which could run on different operating systems using the same configuration. A portable C/C++ library which implements the basic functionality (i.e. create processes, signal process termination events and all that) would be ok too.

  • Scheduling a visual studio load test using powershell giving me BSOD

    - by user952342
I have a visual studio load test which I want to run every hour so that I can start to collect some data. To do this, I thought it would be best to make a little powershell script and put a command like this inside: Invoke-Expression -command "& '$env:VS100COMNTOOLS..\IDE\mstest.exe' /testcontainer:"C:\Users\benb\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\BBPerformanceTest\bin\Debug\HomePageOnly.loadtest"" That command works fine, but sometimes when its run I get a blue screen of death. However, when I run my load test through the visual studio GUI, I never get a BSOD. two questions: is it possible to avoid this BSOD? Is there another way I can schedule my load test? Thanks

  • I need to create an employee schedule/appointments program, but I don't know how to set it up

    - by robz228
I work for a gym. I am the programmer, its just me, nobody else! Gets really frustrating when there's nobody to bounce conceptual ideas off of. I'm getting rid of our archaic paper binder systems for tracking appointments and what not. I've made a lot of things successfully already, now I'm trying to tackle the personal training department. What I want: Trainer information and work schedule Appointment booking that can be done by time slot with all available trainers for that time, or by trainer with all available hours for that trainer What I've tried so far: I started with an 'appointments' database, a 'trainers' database, and a 'schedules' database. This became so complicated trying to fit the schedule in that I scrapped it. Does anyone know know the best way to structure the tables for this and how to sort of make them communicate correctly? I don't need specific code, I just need help understand how to make this thing!

  • How to send a future email using AT command.

    - by BHare
I just need to send one email into the future, so I figured i'd be best at using at rather than using cron. This is what I have so far, its messy and ugly and not that great at escaping: <pre> <?php $out = array(); // Where is the email going? $email = "[email protected]"; // What is the body of the email (make sure to escape any double-quotes) $body = "This is what is actually emailed to me"; $body = escapeshellcmd($body); $body = str_replace('!', '\!', $body); // What is the subject of the email (make sure to escape any double-quotes) $subject = "It's alive!"; $subject = escapeshellcmd($subject); $subject = str_replace('!', '\!', $subject); // How long from now should this email be sent? IE: 1 minute, 32 days, 1 month 2 days. $when = "1 minute"; $command= <<<END echo " echo \"$body\" > /tmp/email; mail -s \"$subject\" $email < /tmp/email; rm /tmp/email; " | at now + $when; END; $ret = exec($command, $out); print_r($out); ?> </pre> The output should be something like warning: commands will be executed using /bin/sh job 60 at Thu Dec 30 19:39:00 2010 However I am doing something wrong with exec and not getting the result? The main thing is this seem very messy. Is there any alternative better methods for doing this? PS: I had to add apache's user (www-data for me) to /etc/at.allow ...Which I don't like, but I can live with it.

  • Backup Azure Tables, schedule Azure scripts&hellip; and more

    - by Herve Roggero
Well – months of effort are now officially over… or should I say it’s just the beginning?   Enzo Cloud Backup 2.0 (beta) is now officially out!!! This tool will let you do the following: * Backup SQL Database (and SQL Server to a limited extend) * Backup Azure Tables * Restore SQL Backups into another SQL environment * Restore Azure Tables in Azure Storage, or SQL Environment * Manage and schedule database maintenance scripts * Drop database schema containers (with preview) for SaaS environments * Receive alerts (SMTP) when operations complete or fail That’s it at a high level… but you need to see the flexibility around these features. For example you can select a specific backup strategy for Azure Tables allowing faster backup operations when partition keys use GUIDs. You can also call custom stored procedures during the restore operation of Azure Tables, allowing you to transform the data along the way. You can also set a performance threshold during Azure Table backup operations to help you control possible throttling conditions in your Storage Account. Regarding database scripts, you can now define T-SQL scripts and schedule them for execution in a specific order. You can also tell Enzo to execute a pre and post script during Azure Table restore operations against a SQL environment. The backup operation now supports backing up to multiple devices at the same time. So you can execute a backup request to both a local file, and a blob at the same time, guaranteeing that both will contain the exact same data. And due to the level of options that are available, you can save backup definitions for later reuse. The screenshot below backs up Azure Tables to two devices (a blob and a SQL Database). You can also manage your database schemas for SaaS environments that use schema containers to separate customer data. This new edition allows you to see how many objects you have in each schema, backup specific schemas, and even drop all objects in a given schema. For example the screenshot below shows that the EnzoLog database has 4 user-defined schemas, and the AFA schema has 5 tables and 1 module (stored proc, function, view…). Selecting the AFA schema and trying to delete it will prompt another screen to show which objects will be deleted. As you can see, Enzo Cloud Backup provides amazing capabilities that can help you safeguard your data in SQL Database and Azure Tables, and give you advanced management functions for your Azure environment. • Is there a way to schedule the downloads in Transmission BitTorrent Client?

    - by Ankit
I have added a couple of torrent files to Transmission BitTorrent Client to be downloaded. I have a limited internet speed so I can't start all of them in a single go; so I have to peep in after every 30 minutes or so to start downloading other file(added to the client). I don't want to peep in 30 minutes; looking for a way to schedule the downloads (i.e when one download completes other files can start automatically) without manual intervention.

  • Why do large IT projects tend to fail or have big cost/schedule overruns?

    - by Pratik
I always read about large scale transformation or integration project that are total or almost total disaster. Even if they somehow manage to succeed the cost and schedule blow out is enormous. What is the real reason behind large projects being more prone to failure. Can agile be used in these sort of projects or traditional approach is still the best. One example from Australia is the Queensland Payroll project where they changed test success criteria to deliver the project. See some more failed projects in this SO question Have you got any personal experience to share?

  • How activity id affects calculations such as schedule % complete when using a baseline?

    - by Jeffrey McDaniel
Fields such as schedule % complete, planned value costs, etc. that use a baseline to help determine the value depend on the activity id's to match between the baseline project and the current project. If the activity id is changed the link is broken. In the P6 power client there is an internal guid that allows you to change the activity id in either the baseline or current project and still have these values related. In the P6 Reporting Database the activity id is used as the joining characteristic between which activities are a match between a baseline project and a current project.

  • How to arrange a weekly schedule in org-mode?

    - by mbork
I'd like to put my schedule into org-mode, so that I can see my classes in the agenda. I have different classes, repeated every week, all of them taking 90 minutes. I was thinking about something like this: * My schedule ** Differential equations <2012-10-04 Thu 11:45 +1w>--<2012-10-04 Thu 13:15 +1w> However, there are two problems: I can see only the next instance in the agenda, and I can't see the ending time. Any ideas?

  • How to schedule automatic (daily) snapshots of AWS EC2 Windows Instance?

    - by Stanley
I have some Windows servers hosted on Amazon EC2. Some run Windows Server 2003 and other run Windows Server 2008. These are EBS-backed instances. Most of the instances also have some additional EBS-volumes attached. We want to schedule a daily snapshot of the windows machines (and also the attached EBS-volumes) to S3 so that we have daily backups available. One would think that this is a very common requirement and would be made available via the AWS Management Console, but alas, it is not. What approaches are available? How do I schedule daily snapshots on our Windows Servers? There are several scripting examples available online for Linux, but not so much for windows. I have had a look at http://sehmer.blogspot.com/2011/04/amazon-ec2-daily-snapshot-script-for.html as well as https://github.com/ronmichael/aws-snapshot-scheduler. Has anyone used one of these approaches and does it work? I have also considered a service like Skeddly which seems inexpensive at first glance but when you look at using it for several servers the price soon escalates to such a point where it seems a better option to create your own solution as you can then apply it to new servers in the future. With Skeddly we'll pay for each server. How do we schedule daily snapshots of our windows instances?

  • How to stop the targets generated by schedule:@selector(target:) interval:timeInterval ?

    - by srikanth rongali
I am using [self schedule:@selector(target:) interval:timeInterval]; for generating bullets in shooting game in cocos2d. In target: I called method targetGenerate to generate for bullet. The enemy generates these bullets. After the player won or enemy won the game the bullets should stop. But, I could not make them stop. I used flags for this. But they did either work. If I set flag1 = 1; for game won. I am using [self schedule:@selector(update:)]; for updating the bullet position to know it hits the player or not ? And I tried like this -(id)init { if( (self = [super init]) ) { //code for enemy [self schedule:@selector(target:) interval:timeInterval]; [self schedule:@selector(update:)]; }return self; } -(void)target:(ccTime)dt { if(flag != 1) [self targetGenerate]; } -(void)targetGenerate { //code for the bullet to generate; CCSprite *bullet = … } -(void)update:(ccTime)dt { //code for to know intersection of bullet and player } But it was not working. How can I make the bullets to disappear after player won the game or enemy won the game ? Thank you.

  • How can I update an expression in a Runt::Schedule object?

    - by Reid Beels
Runt provides a Schedule class for managing collections of events, each represented by a temporal expression. The Schedule class provides an update method, cited in the release notes as "allowing clients to update existing expressions". The implementation of this method, however, simply calls a supplied block, providing the temporal expression for the specified event (as shown). # From lib/runt/schedule.rb:61 # # Call the supplied block/Proc with the currently configured # TemporalExpression associated with the supplied Event. # def update(event,&block) block.call(@elems[event]) end How is one expected to use this method to update an expression?

  • Is it possible to get CCM Updates Schedule using Powershel or VBScript?

    - by frogman
I want to be able to check the CCM Updates Schedule as seen in Configuration Manager Updates tab. I've been looking around on google and I've not been able to find a consistent answer to this. I tried to create a COM object using UDA.CCMUpdatesDeployment. This allows me to successfully set the recurring schedule with SetUserDefinedSchedule method. If I try to use GetUserDefinedSchedule I only get the original values of the variables. PS> $UD = New-Object -com "UDA.CCMUpdatesDeployment" PS> $A= 101 PS> $B= 102 PS> $UD.GetUserDefinedSchedule([ref]$A, [ref]$B) PS> $A 101 PS> $B 102 PS> $UD.GetUserDefinedSchedule MemberType : Method OverloadDefinitions : {void GetUserDefinedSchedule (Variant, Variant)} TypeNameOfValue : System.Management.Automation.PSMethod Value : void GetUserDefinedSchedule (Variant, Variant) Name : GetUserDefinedSchedule IsInstance : True I actually want to be able to do this remotely for a list of servers in a text file but right now any way would do.

  • Is it normal for a company to have programmers on such a rigid schedule?

    - by q303
So I've been working at this job for a couple of months. I'm a little frustrated because I do my best work from 2 to 7. In previous jobs, I've come in at 9:30-10:00 and leave at 7. Some companies have been okay with this, others have not. But my current company insists on my being there at 8:30. Any deviation from this is a big deal. Is this typical? I have colleagues who are more 9:30 to 6:30, 10:00-7:00 guys...but maybe that is just startup culture? I don't see why, given that I don't meet clients, etc. what the advantage to having things be so rigid could be. I also don't see why if there is 15 to 20 minute variation sometimes in coming in, why people don't just assume that I will adjust when I leave... Are these unreasonable expectations as a developer or am I missing something?

  • Is there a tool that allows site users to schedule meetings with each other? [closed]

    - by Andrew Min
I'm the webmaster for a debate team, and we're trying to find a tool that allows us to have multiple team members say when they're available and see who else is available during those timeslots for one-on-one practice rounds. I suppose we could use something like Doodle, but that would involve recreating the Doodle every week. There are many scheduling tools available, but they're usually built so that you can sign up to meet with a specific individual (think a doctor or a professor's office hours), whereas you could be paired with ANY individual.

  • How should I architect a personal schedule manager that runs 24/7?

    - by Crawford Comeaux
I've developed an ADHD management system for myself that's attempting to change multiple habits at once. I know this is counter to conventional wisdom, but I've tried the conventional for years & am now trying it my way. (just wanted to say that to try and prevent it from distracting people from the actual question) Anyway, I'd like to write something to run on a remote server that monitors me, helps me build/avoid certain habits, etc. What this amounts to is a system that: runs 24/7 may have multiple independent tasks to run at once may have tasks that require other tasks to run first lets tasks be scheduled by specific time, recurrence (ie. "run every 5 mins"), or interval (ie. "run from 2pm to 3pm") My first naive attempt at this was just a single PHP script scheduled to run every minute by cron (language was chosen in order to use a certain library, but no longer necessary). The logic behind when to run this or that portion of code got hairy pretty quick. So my question is how should I approach this from here? I'm not tied to any one language, though I'm partial to python/javascript. Thoughts: Could be done as a set of scripts that include a scheduling mechanism with one script per bit of logic...but the idea just feels wrong to me. Building it as a daemon could be helpful, but still unsure what to do about dozens of if-else statements for detecting the current time
