  • Transparent JPanel, Canvas background in JFrame

    - by Andy Tyurin
    I wanna make canvas background and add some elements on top of it. For this goal I made JPanel as transparent container with setOpaque(false) and added it as first of JFrame container, then I added canvas with black background (in future I wanna set animation) to JFrame as second element. But I can't undestand why i see grey background, not a black. Any suggestions? public class Game extends JFrame { public Container container; //Game container with components public Canvas backgroundLayer; //Background layer of a game public JPanel elementsLayer; //elements panel (top of backgroundLayer), holds different elements private Dimension startGameDimension = new Dimension(800,600); //start game dimension public Game() { //init main window super("Astra LaserForces"); setSize(startGameDimension); setBackground(Color.CYAN); container=getContentPane(); container.setLayout(null); setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); //init jpanel elements layer elementsLayer=new JPanel(); elementsLayer.setSize(startGameDimension); elementsLayer.setBackground(Color.BLUE); elementsLayer.setOpaque(false); container.add(elementsLayer); //init canvas background layer backgroundLayer = new Canvas(); backgroundLayer.setSize(startGameDimension); backgroundLayer.setBackground(Color.BLACK); //set default black color container.add(backgroundLayer); } //start game public void start() { setVisible(true); } //create new instance of game and start it public static void main(String[] args) { new Game().start(); } }

  • JAVA Gui on Hello World [closed]

    - by user58892
    I am designing, implementing, testing, and debuging a GUI-based version of a “Hello, World!” program in a JFrame that includes a JLabel that reads “Hello, World!” and I am trying to use a layout manager, and an Exit button to close the program. Here's what I have so far, I would really apreciate if you could help on it syntax. I am 90% done but tried hard and it couldn't run. import java.awt.*; // Needed for flow layout manager import javax.swing.*; //All swing components live in the javax.swing package import javax.swing.JButton; //to recognize buttons import javax.swing.JFrame; import javax.swing.JPanel; import javax.swing.JTextField; public class HelloWorld { public static void main(String[] args) { //creates the label. The JLabel constructor //takes an optional argument which set the text of the label /* The text will be aligned with the center of the frame * otherwise it will align on the left. */ JLabel label= new JLabel("Hello World!"); new FlowWindow(); label.setHorizontalAlignment (SwingConstants.CENTER); JFrame frame = new JFrame("Hello"); //create exit button JButton button1 = new JButton("Exit"); //Add exit button to the content pane. add(button1); frame.add(label); frame.setSize(300, 300); frame.setVisible(true); frame.setLocationRelativeTo(null); frame.toFront(); } public static void FlowWindow() { //Add a new FlowLayout()); frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); } }

  • How can I use an object pool for optimization in AndEngine?

    - by coder_For_Life22
    I have read up on a tutorial that allows you to reuse sprites that are re-added to the scene such as bullets from a gun or any other objects using an ObjectPool. In my game i have a variation of sprites about 6 all together with different textures. This is how the object pool is set up with its own class extending Java's GenericPool class public class BulletPool extends GenericPool<BulletSprite> { private TextureRegion mTextureRegion; public BulletPool(TextureRegion pTextureRegion) { if (pTextureRegion == null) { // Need to be able to create a Sprite so the Pool needs to have a TextureRegion throw new IllegalArgumentException("The texture region must not be NULL"); } mTextureRegion = pTextureRegion; } /** * Called when a Bullet is required but there isn't one in the pool */ @Override protected BulletSprite onAllocatePoolItem() { return new BulletSprite(mTextureRegion); } /** * Called when a Bullet is sent to the pool */ @Override protected void onHandleRecycleItem(final BulletSprite pBullet) { pBullet.setIgnoreUpdate(true); pBullet.setVisible(false); } /** * Called just before a Bullet is returned to the caller, this is where you write your initialize code * i.e. set location, rotation, etc. */ @Override protected void onHandleObtainItem(final BulletSprite pBullet) { pBullet.reset(); } } As you see here it takes a TextureRegion parameter. The only problem i am facing with this is that i need to have 6 different sprites recycled and reused in the ObjectPool. This ObjectPool is set up to only use one TextureRegion. Any idea's or suggestions on how to do this?

    Can any one explain me how to destroy box2d body when collide i have tried but my application crashed.First i have checked al collisions then add all the bodies in array who i want to destroy.I am trying to learning this tutorial My all the bodies are falling i want these bodies should destroy when these bodies will collide my actor monkey but when it collide it destroy but my aplication crashed.I have googled and from google i got the application crash reasons we should not destroy body in step funtion but i am removing body in the last of tick method. could any one help me or provide me code aur check my code why i am getting this prblem or how can i destroy box2d bodies. This is my code what i am doing. Please could any one check my code and tell me what is i am doing wrong for removing bodies. Here's a skeleton that compiles and runs, what kind of listener should I add so that I can track every JFrame movement on screen? import javax.swing.*; public class SO { public static void main( String[] args ) throws Exception { SwingUtilities.invokeAndWait( new Runnable() { public void run() { final JFrame jf = new JFrame(); final JPanel jp = new JPanel(); final JLabel jl = new JLabel(); updateText( jf, jl ); jp.add( jl ); jf.add( jp ); jf.pack(); jf.setVisible( true ); } } ); } private static void updateText( final JFrame jf, final JLabel jl ) { jl.setText( "JFrame is located at: " + jf.getLocation() ); jl.repaint(); } }

  • Using an array as parameter to a class.

    - by Gabriel A. Zorrilla
    I have created an array Man: public main blah blah{ man = man[10]; } Man has fields such as Man.name; Man.age; ... In Man class, there is a OnClick method that opens a new window showing its name and age. public Man(){ Onclick(){ InfoWindow showinfo = new InfoWindow(this.getid()) // If this is Man[2] the id would be 2. } And in InfoWindow class: public class InfoWindow extends JFrame{ public InfoWindow(Man selectedMan){ setSize(300, 200); JLabel info = new JLabel(selectedMan.getname()); add(info); info.setVisible(true); } } Basically, that's wanna acomplish (show in pseudocode), pass a Man[i] into a class that when a window is created, shows the info related to that man. This is how i'm actualy trying to implement it but it's not working, i'm pretty sure there is a misconception from me in some part. Any help?

The files will be created at the first start of the program with this call: File f; f = new File(Toplist.toplistPath+"/top_1.dat"); if(!f.exists()){ Toplist.makeToplist(); } Here is the toplist class: package main; import java.awt.Color; import java.io.BufferedReader; import java.io.File; import java.io.FileNotFoundException; import java.io.FileReader; import java.io.FileWriter; import java.io.IOException; import java.io.PrintWriter; import java.text.SimpleDateFormat; import java.util.Calendar; import java.util.prefs.Preferences; import javax.swing.JFrame; import javax.swing.JOptionPane; import javax.swing.JTextArea; public class Toplist { static String toplistPath = "./Torpedo/local/toplist"; //I know it won't work this easily, it's only to get you the idea public static JFrame toplistWindow = new JFrame("Torpedó - [TOPLISTA]"); public static JTextArea toplist = new JTextArea(""); static StringBuffer toplistData = new StringBuffer(3000); public Toplist() { toplistWindow.setSize(500, 400); toplistWindow.setLocationRelativeTo(null); toplistWindow.setResizable(false); getToplist(); toplist.setSize(400, 400); toplist.setLocation(0, 100); toplist.setColumns(5); toplist.setText(toplistData.toString()); toplist.setEditable(false); toplist.setBackground(Color.WHITE); toplistWindow.setLayout(null); toplistWindow.setVisible(true); } public Toplist(Player winner) { //this is to be done yet, this will set the toplist at first and then display it toplistWindow.setLayout(null); toplistWindow.setVisible(true); } /** * Creates a new toplist */ public static void makeToplist(){ new File(toplistPath).mkdir(); for(int i = 1; i <= 10; i++){ File f = new File(toplistPath+"/top_"+i+".dat"); try { f.createNewFile(); } catch (IOException e) { JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(new JFrame(), "Fájl hiba: toplista létrehozása", "Error", JOptionPane.ERROR_MESSAGE); } } } /** * If the score is a top score it inserts it into the list * * @param score - the score to be checked */ public static void setToplist(int score, Player winner){ BufferedReader input = null; PrintWriter output = null; int topscore; for(int i = 1; i <= 10; i++){ try { input = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(toplistPath+"/top_"+i+",dat")); String s; topscore = Integer.parseInt(input.readLine()); if(score > topscore){ for(int j = 9; j >= i; j--){ input = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(toplistPath+"/top_"+j+".dat")); output = new PrintWriter(new FileWriter(toplistPath+"/top_"+(j+1)+".dat")); while ((s = input.readLine()) != null) { output.println(s); } } output = new PrintWriter(new FileWriter(toplistPath+"/top_"+i+".dat")); output.println(score); output.println(winner.name); if(winner.isLocal){ output.println(Torpedo.session.remote.name); }else{ output.println(Torpedo.session.remote.name); } output.println(Torpedo.session.mapName); output.println(DateUtils.now()); break; } } catch (FileNotFoundException e) { JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(new JFrame(), "Fájl hiba: toplista frissítése", "Error", JOptionPane.ERROR_MESSAGE); } catch (IOException e) { JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(new JFrame(), "Fájl hiba: toplista frissítése", "Error", JOptionPane.ERROR_MESSAGE); } finally { if (input != null) { try { input.close(); } catch (IOException e) { JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(new JFrame(), "Fájl hiba: toplista frissítése", "Error", JOptionPane.ERROR_MESSAGE); } } if (output != null) { output.close(); } } } } /** * This loads the toplist into the buffer */ public static void getToplist(){ BufferedReader input = null; toplistData = null; String s; for(int i = 1; i <= 10; i++){ try { input = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(toplistPath+"/top_"+i+".dat")); while((s = input.readLine()) != null){ toplistData.append(s); toplistData.append('\t'); } toplistData.append('\n'); } catch (FileNotFoundException e) { JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(new JFrame(), "Fájl hiba: toplista betöltése", "Error", JOptionPane.ERROR_MESSAGE); } catch (IOException e) { JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(new JFrame(), "Fájl hiba: toplista betöltése", "Error", JOptionPane.ERROR_MESSAGE); } } } /** * * @author http://www.rgagnon.com/javadetails/java-0106.html * */ public static class DateUtils { public static final String DATE_FORMAT_NOW = "yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss"; public static String now() { Calendar cal = Calendar.getInstance(); SimpleDateFormat sdf = new SimpleDateFormat(DATE_FORMAT_NOW); return sdf.format(cal.getTime()); } } } The problem is, that it can't access any of the files. I've tried adding them to the classpath and at least six different variations of file/path handling I found online but nothing worked. Could anyone tell me what do I do wrong? Thank you.

  • Remove JButton padding in MigLayout

    - by Indrek
    I have a small "popup" like this: But I don't want the padding around the button, I want it to be as small as it can be with the supplied text. btn.setMargin(new Insets(1, 1, 1, 1)); panel.add(lbl, "wrap"); panel.add(btn); frame.pack(); frame.setVisible(true); At least this doesn't work... Can this be achieved on MigLayout or should I use some other layout manager for this frame.

  • JComponent undock effect

    - by Christo Du Preez
    I'm trying to accomplish an undock effect for a custom Swing JComponent. By default the component is used inside a form along with other components. I want to be able to maximize this component to use the whole screen and then be able to dock it again. So far I've tested public void showDialog() { JFrame mainFrame = App.getApplication().getMainFrame(); JDialog dialog = new JDialog(mainFrame); dialog.setModal(true); dialog.setSize(800, 600); //Set to 80x660 for now dialog.add(this); //This is my JComponent dialog.setDefaultCloseOperation(JDialog.DISPOSE_ON_CLOSE); dialog.setVisible(true); } This gives me desired effect but when closing the dialog my component doesn't receive events no more. How can I prevent this? Or is there perhaps a better way to accomplish this?

  • Ignoring focusLost(), SWT.Verify, or other SWT listeners in Java code.

    - by Zoot
    Outside of the actual SWT listener, is there any way to ignore a listener via code? For example, I have a java program that implements SWT Text Widgets, and the widgets have: SWT.Verify listeners to filter out unwanted text input. ModifyListeners to wait for the correct number of valid input characters and automatically set focus (using setFocus())to the next valid field, skipping the other text widgets in the tab order. focusLost(FocusEvent) FocusListeners that wait for the loss of focus from the text widget to perform additional input verification and execute an SQL query based on the user input. The issue I run into is clearing the text widgets. One of the widgets has the format "####-##" (Four Numbers, a hyphen, then two numbers) and I have implemented this listener, which is a modified version of SWT Snippet Snippet179. The initial text for this text widget is " - " to provide visual feedback to the user as to the expected format. Only numbers are acceptable input, and the program automatically skips past the hyphen at the appropriate point. /* * This listener was adapted from the "verify input in a template (YYYY/MM/DD)" SWT Code * Snippet (also known as Snippet179), from the Snippets page of the SWT Project. * SWT Code Snippets can be found at: * http://www.eclipse.org/swt/snippets/ */ textBox.addListener(SWT.Verify, new Listener() { boolean ignore; public void handleEvent(Event e) { if (ignore) return; e.doit = false; StringBuffer buffer = new StringBuffer(e.text); char[] chars = new char[buffer.length()]; buffer.getChars(0, chars.length, chars, 0); if (e.character == '\b') { for (int i = e.start; i < e.end; i++) { switch (i) { case 0: /* [x]xxx-xx */ case 1: /* x[x]xx-xx */ case 2: /* xx[x]x-xx */ case 3: /* xxx[x]-xx */ case 5: /* xxxx-[x]x */ case 6: /* xxxx-x[x] */ { buffer.append(' '); break; } case 4: /* xxxx[-]xx */ { buffer.append('-'); break; } default: return; } } textBox.setSelection(e.start, e.start + buffer.length()); ignore = true; textBox.insert(buffer.toString()); ignore = false; textBox.setSelection(e.start, e.start); return; } int start = e.start; if (start > 6) return; int index = 0; for (int i = 0; i < chars.length; i++) { if (start + index == 4) { if (chars[i] == '-') { index++; continue; } buffer.insert(index++, '-'); } if (chars[i] < '0' || '9' < chars[i]) return; index++; } String newText = buffer.toString(); int length = newText.length(); textBox.setSelection(e.start, e.start + length); ignore = true; textBox.insert(newText); ignore = false; /* * After a valid key press, verifying if the input is completed * and passing the cursor to the next text box. */ if (7 == textBox.getCaretPosition()) { /* * Attempting to change the text after receiving a known valid input that has no results (0000-00). */ if ("0000-00".equals(textBox.getText())) { // "0000-00" is the special "Erase Me" code for these text boxes. ignore = true; textBox.setText(" - "); ignore = false; } // Changing focus to a different textBox by using "setFocus()" method. differentTextBox.setFocus(); } } } ); As you can see, the only method I've figured out to clear this text widget from a different point in the code is by assigning "0000-00" textBox.setText("000000") and checking for that input in the listener. When that input is received, the listener changes the text back to " - " (four spaces, a hyphen, then two spaces). There is also a focusLost Listener that parses this text widget for spaces, then in order to avoid unnecessary SQL queries, it clears/resets all fields if the input is invalid (i.e contains spaces). // Adding focus listener to textBox to wait for loss of focus to perform SQL statement. textBox.addFocusListener(new FocusAdapter() { @Override public void focusLost(FocusEvent evt) { // Get the contents of otherTextBox and textBox. (otherTextBox must be <= textBox) String boxFour = otherTextBox.getText(); String boxFive = textBox.getText(); // If either text box has spaces in it, don't perform the search. if (boxFour.contains(" ") || boxFive.contains(" ")) { // Don't perform SQL statements. Debug statement. System.out.println("Tray Position input contains spaces. Ignoring."); //Make all previous results invisible, if any. labels.setVisible(false); differentTextBox.setText(""); labelResults.setVisible(false); } else { //... Perform SQL statement ... } } } ); OK. Often, I use SWT MessageBox widgets in this code to communicate to the user, or wish to change the text widgets back to an empty state after verifying the input. The problem is that messageboxes seem to create a focusLost event, and using the .setText(string) method is subject to SWT.Verify listeners that are present on the text widget. Any suggestions as to selectively ignoring these listeners in code, but keeping them present for all other user input? Thank you in advance for your assistance.

    - by LivingThing

  • How can I stop my application?

    - by Roman
    I have the main thread from which I start a window using invokeLater. I run my application from command line. So, when application is running I see the window and my command line is "blocked" by the application. I can stop the application either by closing the window (as a result the command line is unblocked) or by typing Ctrl-C in the command line (as a result the window disappear). I wanted to be able to stop the application by clicking on a button in the window of the application. I used setVisible(false) for that. But in this way I can achieve the goal only partially. My window really disappear but the command line is still blocked. So, the software is still running. Well, I assume it's because some other threads are still running. But how can I easily close all these threads (like I do by closing the window of the application manually).

  • How to click through JGlassPane With MouseListener to UI behind it

    - by Epicmaster
    I have a JFrame and a bunch of JComponents on top of the JFrame. I need to make use of the JGlassPane and I used this implementation to set it up. JPanel glass = new JPanel(); frame.setGlassPane(glass); glass.setVisible(true); glass.setOpaque(false); After doing so I can't select any JButtons or other JComponents under the JGlassPane. Is there a way to have only the components on the GlassPane selectable while still having the ability to select components under the GlassPane? Edit I forgot to mention (not knowing this would be relevant) that I did attach both a MouseListener and a MouseMotionListener to the glass pane. Is there a way to pass the Mouse Events to other components and only use them when needed?

  • JFrame.setBackground() not working -- why?

    - by devoured elysium
    JFrame mainFrame = new JFrame(); mainFrame.setSize(100, 100); mainFrame.setBackground(Color.CYAN); mainFrame.setVisible(true); My intent is to create a window with a cyan background. What is wrong with this? My window doesn't get cyan, as I'd expect! Also, could anyone point out why I seem to have all the colors in duplicate (there's a Color.CYAN and a Color.cyan). Is there any difference at all between the two? Maybe the older one was a constant from before there were enums in Java and the second one is from the Enum? Thanks

    Hello guys. I've been tearing my hair out the past few hours trying to solve this problem. Every time I click on a JButton which should open a JFrame(And it does), i get a stacktrace saying I have a null point exception at these bits of code: In class A i have: aButton.addActionListener(new ActionListener() { public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { B instanceofB = new B(userSession.getBalance()); }); and Class B super.getSomeBtn().setVisible(false); This is where the stacktrace says the errors are in the two above sections. I have a line exactly the same as the one above in Class B and it works fine? Really stuck here!
