  • C# 'is' type check on struct - odd .NET 4.0 x86 optimization behavior

    Since upgrading to VS2010 I'm getting some very strange behavior with the 'is' keyword. The program below (test.cs) outputs True when compiled in debug mode (for x86) and False when compiled with optimizations on (for x86). Compiling all combinations in x64 or AnyCPU gives the expected result, True. All combinations of compiling under .NET 3.5 give the expected result, True. I'm using the batch file below (runtest.bat) to compile and test the code using various combinations of compiler .NET framework. Has anyone else seen these kind of problems under .NET 4.0? Does everyone else see the same behavior as me on their computer when running runtests.bat? #@$@#$??   • Creating multiple markers in Google Maps using XML

    I'm almost sure this question has been asked before, but for the love of me I just can't find the answer anywhere. Basically what I want to do is create multiple markers on a custom Google Map I'm building. I already have an XML file with the coordinates (lat/lng) and title of each item. I'd like to take the data from the XML file and use it to create markers on the map. I've found how to do this using KML files and MySQL/PHP, but I need to know how to do it in Javascript. One more thing: I have a .xml file of my own, so it won't be like I'll be getting the data from a webpage because I believe (from research I've done today) that the code for that may be different. If anyone knows if this has been posted somewhere else before, could you please direct me there? I've literally been searching all day, this is my last resort. Thanks a ton!!!

  • Cannot add an icon to Resources

    Have been inputting and testing some sample code and everything seems to be ok. Just that suddenly I am running into this very frustrating problem of trying to add an icon to the project. Have downloaded an icon file (extension : icns) to my desktop and dragged it to the "Resources" group in xCode. Then a dialogue comes up from xCode where I checked the 2 options : "Copy items into destination group's folder (if needed)" and "Recursively create groups for any added folders". But when I press the "Add" button, an "Alert" message box would come up. It says "Could not copy the icon to ...". Hope that someone knowledgable in this area would give me some hints...

  • Cocoa Interface Builder object initialization

    Base on the documentation and sample code that I have gone through, I got an impression that when a class defined in xcode is read into and configured in Interface Builder, an object based on the class is effectively created and stored in an xib or nib file. So the object is ready to be used when the corresponding application is launched. Alternatively, for classes that have not been handled by Interface Builder, code such as the "new" statements have to be written in xcode explicitly in order for the associated objects to be created and used. It will be very nice to have people who are more knowledgable than me to confirm or to correct my very naive understanding of Interface Builder ...

  • NSString cannot be released

    Consider the following method and the caller code block. The method analyses a NSString and extracts a "http://" string which it passes out by reference as an auto release object. Without releasing g_scan_result, the program works as expected. But according to non-arc rules, g_scan_result should be released since a retain has been called against it. My question are : Why g_scan_result cannot be released ? Is there anything wrong the way g_scan_result is handled in the posted coding below ? Is it safe not to release g_scan_result as long as the program runs correctly and the XCode Memory Leak tool does not show leakage ? Which XCode profile tools should I look into to check and under which subtitle ?   • IB z-order on simulator 6.0

    Consider the above's IB objects listing. Siblings further down the list should be on top of the siblings listed further up when rendered on the screen. Under Xcode 4.5.2, everything is ok if iphone simulator 5.1 is used. But for simulator 6.0 the map just covers everything. The same if using actual devices (phones) for testing. Hope that somebody knowledgeable could help. Please also add comments if you do not find such a problem on simulator 6.0. Because chances are the problem is related to how my project is setup. Update : Have setup a test project with the iOS 6 map view. There seems to be no problem with the z-order. So the problem should relate to my code.

  • Du tells me it can't find the current directory?

    I'm on AIX, and in some directories I can't use the du command. I get the follow error message: du: 0653-175 Cannot find the current directory. Obviously the current directory exists, and I have permissions to it. I can list the directory and create files in it, both before and after I ran du. What could possibly be wrong here? The du command works just fine in my home directory. A quick google search turns up a bunch of forum posts of the same problem, but no clear answers.

  • dedicated server - cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi redirect when accessing via server IP

    This isn't so much of a problem, but would like to know why this happens. we have a dedicated server running WHM. If I access the server via its IP address directly I am automatically redirected to http://xx.xxx.xx.xxx/cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi I know how to edit this page (this isnt the problem) I'm just curious why I get redirected to this .cgi page, rather than simply remain @ xx.xxx.xx.xxx/ and view my default "landing page", if you like. What setting could I change so that if anyone visits my server IP, they do not get redirected to xx.xxx.xx.xxx/cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi For instance if you visit 173.194.37.104 (google), you view the google home page, but URL remains the same. Hope this makes sense. thanks

I'm trying it on a couple of test PCs, and so far i've had no luck. On each one, one update would install (and need a reboot), and nothing else since.   • Blocking yandex.ru bot

    I want to block all request from yandex.ru search bot. It is very traffic intensive (2GB/day). I first blocked one C class IP range, but it seems this bot appear from different IP ranges. For example: spider31.yandex.ru - 77.88.26.27 spider79.yandex.ru - 95.108.155.251 etc.. I can put some deny in robots.txt but not sure if it respect this. I am thinking of blocking a list of IP ranges. Can somebody suggest some general solution.

  • Lotus Notes 8.5.3 "Unable To Invoke Program"

    Just got a little issue with some of my users today, when trying to open an email attachment in Lotus Notes, they get the error Unable To Invoke Program. Now, they can always just save the attachment and then open it through windows explorer, which is fine, but I would rather get a proper solution for this. Knowing almost nothing about Lotus Notes does not help me I know but I think it may have something to do with the default file association, however my colleague tells me that Notes uses the windows file associations, which are working. Any ideas anyone?

    Starting web server apache2 apache2: bad user name www-data I just tried restarting my webserver because of an update I did to my php.ini and originally I was getting something about the PID file being overwritten. Now I just get this: * Starting web server apache2 apache2: bad user name www-data this has NEVER happened before, and I haven't changed and permissions or apache2 configuration files. What gives?
