  • VBA Tab Key putting actual Tab Value in Text Box instead of navigating to next control

    I have a VBA form (in Excel if that matters) that contains text boxes. On three occasions, I have found myself pressing the tab key to navigate to the next control, but instead an actual TAB is being put in the text box. The form normally acts as it should, but it does concern me that this gremlin is showing up sporadically. It has shown up on Office 2003 as well as Office 2007 on two different computers. Has anyone else encountered this problem and, if so, how did you fix it?

  • clicking anchor element within jquery tab loads new page *outside* tab

    Hello, I would like to be able to click on an achor element from a page inside a jQuery tab and have that new page load directly inside the original tab. I used sample code from the jQuery tutorial page but to no avail! When I click on the anchor tag, I get redirected to www.google.com but lose my tabs. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? would really appreciate it.   • How to detect changing directory size in Perl

    Hello, I am trying to find a way of monitoring directories in Perl, in particular the size of a directory, and upon detecting a change in directory size, perform a particular action. The issue I have is with large files that require a noticeable amount of time to copy into this directory, i.e. 100MB. What happens (in Windows, not Unix) is the system reserves enough disk space for the entire file, even though the file is still copying in progress. This causes problems for me, because my script will try to perform an action on this file that has not finished copying over. I can easily detect directory size changes in Unix via 'du', but 'du' in Windows does not behave the same way. Are there any accurate methods of detecting directory size changes in Perl? Edit: Some points to clarify: - My Perl script is only monitoring a particular directory, and upon detecting a new file or a new directory, perform an action on this new file or directory. It is not copying any files; users on the network will be copying files into the directory I am monitoring. - The problem occurs when a new file or directory appears (copied, not moved) that is significantly large ( 100MB, but usually a couple GB) and my program fires before this copy completes - In Unix I can easily 'du' to see that the file/directory in question is growing in size, and take the appropriate action - In Windows the size is static, so I cannot detect this change - opendir/readdir/closedir is not feasible, as some of the directories that appear may contain thousands of files, and I want to avoid the overhead of Ideally I would like my program to be triggered on change, but I am not sure how to do this. As of right now it busy waits until it detects a change. The change in file/directory size is not in my control.

    I work in a command prompt quite often and around many large (remote) log files. Unfortunatelly, the sizes of these files do not update as the logs grow, unless it would appear the files are touched. I usually use hacks like the following from Cygwin to "touch" the file so that its file size updates: stat file.txt or head -c0 file.txt Are there any native Windows constructs that can refresh the file size from the command prompt, as unintrusively as possible and preferrably without transferring any (remote) data, since I often need to refresh the sizes of very large files remotely, to see how large they have grown.

    I created a private deb repository to spread a software and it's updates to 600 Ubuntu netbooks. Each time the network is connected, my script try to do a apt-get update.   • Slow tab completion for paths in`make' arguments

    When I'm specifying an argument for make like PREFIX_PATH=/some/path/to/prefix/ I sometimes experience very slow completion for my directories (a few seconds). It's annoying when I've got several variables to specify. To get around the problem I've been typing out the variables first to get regular completion speed, then hitting home' to insertmake` that the start of my command line. What is happening and how can I fix it?

  • Allow users to insert a TAB into a TextBox but not newlines

    I want to have a TextBox which does accept the TAB key (and places a TAB, ASCII 0x09, \t accordingly into the textbox) instead of jumping to the next control. The TextBox has a property AcceptsTab, which I have set to true but this does not give the desired result. It turns out the AcceptsTab property only works then Multiline is set to true as well. However I want to have a one-line TextBox which doesn't accept newlines.

    In bash, I believe it is possible to enable tab completion on the terminal for terms that are specific to the executable being invoked. For example, given an executable "eat" with valid arguments {cake, carrot, banana}, typing 'eat car' should complete to 'eat carrot'. I believe this is possible because I have seen it with 'ant' tab-completing its targets (though how this was set up I don't know). How can this behaviour be implemented?

  • powershell.exe tab completion - list alternatives?

    I've never really used PowerShell before, and playing with it a bit, it looks like it uses cmd.exe's style of tab completion (fill in the first likely candidate, and then you can use tab to cycle through other alternatives). I'd much prefer the way e.g. bash works, where if there are multiple candidates, it shows a list of them. Is there an easy way to turn this on, by any chance?

    For most people the default New Tab Page in Chrome works perfectly well for their purposes. But if you would prefer to choose what opens in a new tab for yourself then you will definitely want to have a look at the “Define your own new tab!” extension for Google Chrome. Before Unless you are using a Speed Dial (or similar) extension each time you click on the “New Tab Button” you get the same old page. It would certainly be a lot more satisfying if you could choose custom webpage(s) to open as new tabs. After Once you have the extension installed the best thing to do is click on the “New Tab Button”. That will open up the “Options Page” where you can enter one or two custom website URLs of your choosing. Once you have your custom URLs entered click on “Save”. As soon as you click on the “New Tab Button” your new custom webpage(s) will open. If you chose two webpages the first choice will open focused on the “right side” instead of the “left”.     I am using FB.ui with the display parameter set to popup. When the method is 'stream.publish', it autoresizes when the content is loaded. However, when using 'fbml.dialog' (in order to display a multi-friend selector) it shows a size that I'm not able to change (and the content is displayed cropped).   • iOS get file size on disk

    I'm trying to get the size on disk of a file in iOS using Objective C. As of now I've been able to get the actual size of the file and other file information using NSFileManager and then getting the attributes attributesOfItemAtPath:error but not the size on disk. I also tried getting the file size from struct stat but again it doesn't give me size on disk.I tried using NSTask to make a call to du -h but iOS didn't allow me to fork other processes. Any ideas are welcome :) I know this questions is similar to many others but the difference is that I'm trying to do this in iOS and most of the methods used in other systems don't work here. Thanks

  • Programatically determining file "size on disk" in advance

    I need to know how big a given in-memory buffer will be as an on-disk (usb stick) file before I write it. I know that unless the size falls on the block size boundary, its likely to get rounded up, e.g. a 1 byte file takes up 4096 bytes on-disk. I'm currently doing this using GetDiskFreeSpace() to work out the disk block size, then using this to calculate the on-disk size like this: GetDiskFreeSpace(szDrive, &dwSectorsPerCluster, &dwBytesPerSector, NULL, NULL); dwBlockSize = dwSectorsPerCuster * dwBytesPerSector; if (dwInMemorySize % dwBlockSize != 0) { dwSizeOnDisk = ((dwInMemorySize / dwBlockSize) * dwBlockSize) + dwBlockSize; } else { dwSizeOnDisk = dwInMemorySize; } Which seems to work fine, BUT GetDiskFreeSpace() only works on disks up to 2GB according to MSDN. GetDiskFreeSpaceEx() doesn't return the same information, so my question is, how else can I calculate this information for drives 2GB? Is there an API call I've missed? Can I assume some hard values depending on the overall disk size?

The database-file (mdf) has a size of 630MB and the log-file has a size of 12GB. I ask me now, what the reason for this can be. Is there a tool which let me seeing into the log where I can see, what is the reason for this big size? What can I do to prevent that the log is growing to this big size?
