  Just did a fresh install of Windows 7, and the network and sharing center says no internet access. Disabling and enabling the adapter seems to fix the issue temporarily, but the internet stops working shortly after. I have installed the latest NIC drivers and have installed all Windows updates. I have also tried manually setting the ip/gateway/dns and running netsh int ip reset in an elevated command prompt. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit with a wired connection. I have searched for hours, but have found no working solutions. Does anyone have any ideas?

• Share laptop's Wi-Fi with a LAN connection and a mobile device

  OS: Windows 7 64bit I want to share my laptop's internet connection between my PC and my Android device. But I can only do one of them at a time. The laptop is connected to internet wirelessly. The PC is connected to the laptop using a Ethernet cable and internet is shared between them. I want to connect my mobile device to my laptop by making the laptop into a Wi-Fi hotspot. PC (Ethernet) == Laptop (connected to net by Wi-Fi) <== Mobile device (Wi-Fi hotspot) I have 3 connections in my laptop: Wireless Network Connection (internet - shared) Local area connection (PC) Wireless Network Connection 2 (Wi-Fi hotspot) Every time I have to disable either the LAN to get the Wi-Fi hotspot working, or disable the Wi-Fi hotspot to get LAN working. How can I share so I can use both at the same time?

• Coldfusion 8 crash

  I have a very big problem with coldfusion 8 on Windows server 2008 with IIS7. They are in production server and sometimes the the site is not available, I have to manually end the jrun.exe process from task manager and then the site is available. I realize that the process jrun.exe has abut 1.3Gb of memory used at the time it crash's. It happens 2-3 times a day, I have looking in the coldfusion logs and I did not found anything strange beside some warnings that some job exceeded the 300 sec of time execution. I forgot to mention that coldfusion is a 32bit application but the windows is a 64bit, this may be the problem? I'm not such good in coldfusion, so If someone knows how to troubleshoot please let me know Thanks!

• MacBookPro running Windows 7: accidental trackpad input is driving me mad

  I am running Windows7 Professional 64bit on a 2010 MacBookPro using BootCamp 3.1. I am using an external trackball. When I am typing, I accidently brushing the trackpad and accidently overtyping randomly selected pieces of text. Which is driving me mad. I have tried to install TrackPad++, but I could not get the Trackpad++ control panel to recognise that the driver software was installed. I tried TrackPad Magic, but although it gives me a system tray icon telling me it is working, but it does not appear to disable the track pad. A quick Google implies that there should be an option in the BootCamp Control Panel 'Ignore accidental Input while typing'. But I can't see one of those in my BootCamp Control Panel. Am I looking in the wrong place? Is this feature 32bit only? Is there anything else I should try?

• Welcome files are not loaded! Need help with Railo, mappings and J2EE configuration!

  I have installed a J2EE Server (tried it with Glassfish3, Tomcat6 and Resin4) on Win7 64bit and deployed Railo3.1. I have then added a virtual host to the J2EE server, i.e. Resin: <host host-name="railo"> C:/resin/webapps/railo In the Railo Admin i have added this mapping: Virtual Physical / C:/webapps/ When i access http://railo:8080/ my index.cfm welcome file in C:/webapps/ is loaded (index.cfm is definded in Railos web.xml). When i try to access http://railo:8080/test which contains the same index.cfm i get an 500 Servlet Exception java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\webapps\test (access denied) (on all J2EE Servers i tried so far). http://railo:8080/test/index.cfm works fine. I already tried to add index.cfm to Resins welcome-file-list in app-default.xml to no avail. I want to be able to access deployed apps without this url: http://localhost:8080/app/ Instead i want to use this: http://app:8080/

  Is it posible to get the original Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit for the Acer Aspire 5740G? I bought this notebook and the license for this Windows is in the package. There is an partition with the data for the recovery. But than, there are a lot of senseless application which I don't want to use. I'm searchin for the complete clear Windows 7 Home Premium. I tried to download the original Windows 7 Home Premium and entered the serial key of the bottom of the laptop but I can't activate my Windows with this key. Any ideas or experiens with this?

• explorer.exe eating all CPU, how to to detect culprit?

  Windows 7 64bit. I am using ProcessExplorer from Sysinternals, and it says, that the offending call is ntdll.dll!RtlValidateHeap+0x170 however, the call stack towards the entry is always different, so it's hard for me to track the problem. Maybe it's a mal-programed trojan, causing exceptions in Explorer.exe, but that is only a wild speculation. Explorer.exe is then consuming 25% (a core on a dual core). Killing the process makes the task bar go away, respawning from task manager, and half a minute later it's again eating all CPU cycles.

  I have a Lenovo v570 with a Nvidia GeForce 410m with cuda. It came with windows 7 and everything works well. However I just got bored of windows 7 and I'm yearning for xp. I installed xp and got everything to work except the Nvidia driver. In their website there is only the windows 7 nvidia driver available. I searched http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/26388 and got a driver for the 400m series. I tried the software and it didn't work, message << THIS GRAPHICS DRIVER COULD NOT FIND COMPATIBLE GRAPHICS HARDWARE . • eSata plugged into Sata socket via adaptor cable very slow

  Why would an external eSata Drive (xSonic with 500Gb notebook Hard Drive) run ok on a Silicon Image based PCI-E to eSata adaptor at about 35MB/s, But then run really slow when plugged into NForce4 Sata socket via cable? I have another version of the problem with Really slow 1MB/s!!! performance on a ASUS P5K Pro Motherboard with E8400 CPU. This time the same card is plugged into a PCI-E socket. The same eSata drive is plugged into the Esata port on the card. All this is running on Windows XP Pro 32bit. Any suggestions on how to diagnose the problems??

  Hi everyone! I am the admin of a small LAN of 10+ computers. I've set up a dnsmasq server for DHCP and DNS resolution, and it's working almost fine.. My problem is that when I try to use Google images, sometimes it takes ages to show the actual images. I get just the textual part of the page (menus and so on) while the images themselves are shown as the still-loading-white boxes.. When I use the DSL router directly as DNS, the site works fine all the time. The problem sometimes presents itself with Google maps too.. The map takes ages to load. Any idea on what I could try to troubleshoot this? (dnsmasq 2.47 on CentOS 5.2 64bit, our outside connection is an asymmetrical 4Mbps DSL)

• Browser won't connect to svn server

  This has been driving me nuts. For some reason, I can't access my svn repository using a browser in this laptop that I'm using right now (firefox & ie) The connection just times out. I'm at home right now and the server is in another room. It connects OK there and it also connects OK in my virtual machine in this same laptop. I'm pretty stumped right now and can't figure out why this is happening. I've also checked the proxies and I'm 100% sure I'm not using any at all. • MySQL is killing the server IO.

  I manage a fairly large/busy vBulletin forums (~2-3k requests per second, running on gigenet cloud), the database is ~ 10 GB (~9 milion posts, ~60 queries per second), lately MySQL have been grinding the disk like there's no tomorrow according to iotop and slowing the site. The last idea I can think of is using replication, but I'm not sure how much that would help and worried about database sync. I'm out of ideas, any tips on how to improve the situation would be highly appreciated. Specs : Debian Lenny 64bit ~12Ghz (6 cores) CPU, 7520gb RAM, 160gb disk. Kernel : 2.6.32-4-amd64 mysqld Ver 5.1.54-0.dotdeb.0 for debian-linux-gnu on x86_64 ((Debian)) Other software: vBulletin 3.8.4 memcached 1.2.2 PHP 5.3.5-0.dotdeb.0 (fpm-fcgi) (built: Jan 7 2011 00:07:27) lighttpd/1.4.28 (ssl) - a light and fast webserver PHP and vBulletin are configured to use memcached. • No "Terminal Services" branch in "Group Policy Object Editor"

  Hi, We have several identical several servers in a hosting company. They run Windows 2003 R2 Std SP2 64bit. The servers are not in a domain. We have recently received a new server with the same configuration and hardware. However, the new server is different in some way. When we run "gpedit.msc /s" there are much less options in the tree than the other servers. Specifically we are missing the configuration of "Terminal Services". Many other items are missing under "Administrative templates" and "Windows components". • Replicate / SYNC / Copy thousands of files

  Windows 32BIT Box (Server OS) 4GB RAM a 800GB LUN Mapped to the above box as a local drive Around 700GB of text files (Yes text files and a few thousand word documents) nested in thousands of directories. I need to move this to a new storage and map another server to it. What would be the best way to go about it ? What I did was mapped the existing LUN to our new box and mapped a LUN from the New storage to the new box too, and tried copying (windows copy) but that wasn't good / fast enough considering the downtime. I am now looking for either a script which will do this or a utility (prefer opensource / free) to move this size of data at a good speed. 2 x 1GB Nics teamed ether channel 2GBPs Any suggestions or pointers would be off great help Thanks !

• OOM-Killer, jboss and kernel panic

  Hi, We are running RedHat 3.4.6(x32) on VMWareEsx3.5(x64) with 6GB RAM. A few java processes(including jboss) are running in the background. The problem is that the java processes consume lots of memory, and sometimes they are killed by the OOM-killer. When OOM-killer is about to act, the free physical memory is very low 100MB-200MB, but the swap is not used (99% free). Sometimes this causes a kernel panic too. So why isn't the swap used? How to investigate this kernel panic? Is using 6GB memory on 32bit Redhat wise? Thanks

• Troubleshooting server performance with a hosted server?

  We are in a tough spot, we have a hosted server with the following specs: OS: Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise SP1 64bit Processor: Intel Xeon X7550 @ 2GHz (8 processors) RAM: 16GB The file system is on a SAN or NAS (not sure). We are seeing very odd issues where a user will open a 25MB .xslb file and it takes literally 60-120 seconds sometimes. The server is just dog slow for excel. Resources are not being pegged, CPU never jumps up, plenty of RAM... it's just oddly slow. Our host has been looking at the issue for several weeks with not much to show for it. Is there a utility I can run myself that will help trackdown our issue? I have found Server Performance Advisor V1.0 Any experience in using it? Our host is ultimately responsible for fixing this, but we are going on 1 month and our users are losing patience. Any tips would be helpful.

  The system of pc is win7 32bit, the video card is ATI 4670. The tv is philips 74xx series. And the monitor is Dell 19' that connect with pc via VGA. The tv can receive the singal and show the pictures when booting the pc(bios self checking, the logo of windows 7), however the tv says there is no signal after the win7 login window shows. I have installed the latest CCC and driver of ATI video card. Does anyone have idea for it?

• Memory usages in Linux drops frequently

  I run a CentOS 5.6 (64bit) machine that has Nginx (latest version) running, with php-fpm (latest version). Things run very well, but since about 2 weeks I noticed in my Munin graphs that about every 2 hours the 'cache' usages drops. Before it used be a steady fully graph, that didn't seem to reset every so often. PHP-FPM settings: pm.max_children = 300 daemonize = yes pm = static listen = /tmp/fpm.sock pm.max_requests = 1000 I have checked the php-fpm.log, and about once per 5 seconds a child process is killed, and restarted. But this is all the time, so this does not explain the sudden drops. I only run Nginx, PHP (via fpm), Munin and vsftpd on this machine. No crons run at exactly the time of the drops. My question: What could be causing these drops in cache usage?

• Samba 3.3 or later on Slackware 12 - how do I make this happen?

  I'm trying to upgrade the Samba server on a Slackware 12 box to serve as PDC for Windows 7 32bit machines (it now has a 3.0.3 and does the job for Win XP machines, but 7 refuses to join the domain - I'm posting this after having tried a few dozen hacks on the windows registry). I'm a newbie on Slackware (I usually dwell in Ubuntu) so I may be going about this the wrong way but this is what I've done so far: The Samba wiki has a couple of hacks for the registry and also seems to suggest a version later than 3.3 (though not in so many words) http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Windows7 Having scoured the net for later Samba binaries for Slackware 12 and gotten precisely nowhere, I decided that maybe I could compile the blessed thing. But I keep on getting compiler errors. I'm using this SlackBuild script http://ftp.twaren.net/Linux/slackware/slackware-current/source/n/samba/samba.SlackBuild Is there a better way to make this happen? (without upgrading the base system? it has so many finely tuned things running that I don't want to mess with the rest of the setup).

• How to unlock files using handle.exe and process name?

  I tried Unlocker 1.9.1 but it doesn't work correctly for me on Windows7 (worked ok on Windows XP) and also I tried LockHunter 2.0.2.103 x64 and reported a bug but .... LockHunter actually unlocks the file from GUI but not from command line. So I want to use handle.exe by SysInternals to unlock one file "TestPro.log". I know the absolut path if it helps. I can list and all processes that locked the file by executing C:\Windows\system32>c:\edutester\progs\handle testpro.log java.exe pid: 2120 type: File 338: C:\Users\Public\TestPro \TestPro Automation Framework\Logs\TestPro.log java.exe pid: 1004 type: File 934: C:\Users\Public\TestPro \TestPro Automation Framework\Logs\TestPro.log What I need to know how to unlock the file using above info from command line automatically. • Terribly slow Apache2 on VM Virtualbox

  I just launched VM Virtualbox with guest Ubuntu Server on host Windows 8. Both 64bit. Everything works perfectly fine. Maybe it's because I'm not using any X... Htop shows ~25% of memory usage, everything is fine, but not Apache2. Normally it's fine, but when I send request from my browser on host (networking mode set to Bridge mode), Apache2 is turning into 1-minute-long loading process with 100% CPU time. Any ideas how to debug it? Any ideas about solving this throat problem?

  I have just got a new machine to run XEN VM's on, it has an Intel i7 processor: - Intel Haswell Core i7-4790 3.6GHz 8MB LGA1150 I have setup the host with the current 6.2.0 I have set up a new Debian 7 64bit VM and any package I try and run fails with the following errors: Errors were encountered while processing: xen-utils-common xen-utils-4.1 xen-system-amd64 xen-linux-system-3.2.0-4-amd64 xen-linux-system-amd64 E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) Excuse my noob-ness but should it even be running an AMD package ?
