• jqtouch - panels appear on page, class="back" not working in Safari

  I'm trying to get a demo working that was used in J. Stark's webinar on Safari Books Online (still available for viewing). I think I've followed the code example correctly, but the class="back" objects used to return from the "blog", "contacts", "settings" and "about" panels do not work, though the correct address shows in the nav area at the base of the browser window when I hover the mouse over the respective link. The panels-- which should slide in and out when called by their respective class"arrow" elements-- appear on the main page, nor do they animate correctly. Browser is Safari 5.0.3(6533.19.4); jquery-1.3.2; jqtouch freshly downloaded from the jqt website. Obviously I'm missing something simple. Didn't want to impose on your server, so the URL for jqtouch.min.css points to a version on my server @ fastermac.net. There's something further amiss, I believe. On load, page still shows the elements that should be invisible until called by clicking class="arrow" elements. Animations not yet wiggling. Did get them to wiggle at one point, but "flip," for instance, landed then on a black page-- not the targeted panel. Probably something obvious, but I'm missing it after some considerable due diligence. Again, thanks for your note. Any further illumination would be sincerely appreciated.

• Batch insert mode with hibernate and oracle: seems to be dropping back to slow mode silently

  I'm trying to get a batch insert working with Hibernate into Oracle, according to what i've read here: http://docs.jboss.org/hibernate/core/3.3/reference/en/html/batch.html , but with my benchmarking it doesn't seem any faster than before. Can anyone suggest a way to prove whether hibernate is using batch mode or not? I hear that there are numerous reasons why it may silently drop into normal mode (eg associations and generated ids) so is there some way to find out why it has gone non-batch? My hibernate.cfg.xml contains this line which i believe is all i need to enable batch mode: <property name="jdbc.batch_size">50</property> My insert code looks like this: List<LogEntry> entries = ..a list of 100 LogEntry data classes... Session sess = sessionFactory.getCurrentSession(); for(LogEntry e : entries) { sess.save(e); } sess.flush(); sess.clear(); My 'logentry' class has no associations, the only interesting field is the id: @Entity @Table(name="log_entries") public class LogEntry { @Id @GeneratedValue public Long id; ..other fields - strings and ints... However, since it is oracle, i believe the @GeneratedValue will use the sequence generator. And i believe that only the 'identity' generator will stop bulk inserts. So if anyone can explain why it isn't running in batch mode, or how i can find out for sure if it is or isn't in batch mode, or find out why hibernate is silently dropping back to slow mode, i'd be most grateful. • Add linebreak with jQuery at end of each textarea row

  So I have been googleing around for a couple of days but I have not found a solution so far, so I'm turning to you guys with hope that there even is a possible solution for this. I need to, at the end of each line in a textarea add a linebreak before it is sent to PHP. That is, even if the user does not press enter but if a word get's cut of or it just jumps down a row because it has filled the with of the textarea. And I need to do so with jQuery or Javascript. Does anyone have any good ideas on how to do so? Thanks!

• I need to sort the facets that come back from SOLR by relevancy

  I have within my SOLR index song objects which belong to a higher level album object. An example is shown below: <song> <album title>Blood Sugar Sex Magic</album title> <song title>Under the Bridge</song title> <description>A sad song about junkies</description> </song> What I can do at the moment is create a facet on the album title so that a search on songs will also show me what albums contain hits for that keyword. The default behaviour for SOLR is that the facets are shown in the order of most hits to least. However what I want to achieve is the facet list to be sorted according to the relevancy of the top hit for that album. For example a search on the word "sad" may show a facet with one hit for "Blood Sugar Sex Magic" and there may also be an album called "Sad Clown songs" where there are 10 hits. "Sad clown songs" will show as the first facet even though it may be that "Under the bridge" comes up as the most relevant song. My question is how can I get all the facets back but then have them ordered by the relevancy of the songs within them? If I would need to change or extend some underlying SOLR code what would that be? Thanks in advance.

• Fragments keep going back to the default position when MapView is Zoomed In/Out

  I have an activity with 3 fragments displayed, a MapActivity, a ListActivity, and a (normal) DetailsActivity. The ListActivity and DetailsActivity is placed over the MapActivity. There's a function to hide both ListActivity and DetailsActivity with an Animation, and onAnimationEnd() I set a new layout for the hidden Activity. The problem I'm facing is, everytime one of the ListActivity or DetailsActivity hidden (picture State 2), and then I pinch the screen on the MapActivity to zoom the map, it always goes back to the default view (picture State 1). The closed Activities are automatically opened again. • Prevent Activity from saving state when user selects back button

  I have an Activity with a list that is bound to a ListAdapter reading data into a ArrayList from a database. All is well when the data is first loaded. While the Activity is open and the list is being displayed it is possible and likely that the data in the database will be updated by a service but the list does not reflect the changes because the ArrayList does not know about the changes. If the Activity is no longer in the foreground as would be the case if the user goes to the home screen and then is brought back to the foreground I would like for the Activity to not display what it did prior but rather reload the data using the ListAdapter the view is bound to. I think something needs to call finish() but I am not sure what. • Time fields in Rails coming back blank

  I have a simple Rails 3.b1 (Ruby 1.9.1) application running on Sqlite3. I have this table: create_table :time_tests do |t| t.time :time end And I see this behavior: irb(main):001:0> tt = TimeTest.new => #<TimeTest id: nil, time: nil> irb(main):002:0> tt.time = Time.zone.now => Mon, 03 May 2010 20:13:21 UTC +00:00 irb(main):003:0> tt.save => true irb(main):004:0> TimeTest.find(:first) => #<TimeTest id: 1, time: "2000-01-01 20:13:21"> So, the time is coming back blank.   lines = "some stuff\"some other \"stuff\"\""; lines = lines.Replace("\"", "\""); lines = lines.Replace("\"", "\""); in its current context and in its simplest form these two actions seem absolutely pointless but when I put this into code it will be not be pointless and will have a purpose other than replacing itself with itself. OK so I have the String lines that has 4 escaped quotation marks and I wish to replace the first quote with a quote and the end quote with a quote how would I accomplish this without replacing any of the inner quotes?

The naming is apparently not very important, so It's a bit random. 2 questions for you batch-geniuses out there. a) How can I append date/time of creation to the end of the filename with a batch-script? b) How can I append a random filename (so I make the files unique) with a batch-script? • C++ ulong to class method pointer and back

  Hi guys, I'm using a hash table (source code by Google Inc) to store some method pointers defined as: typedef Object *(Executor::*expression_delegate_t)( vframe_t *, Node * ); Where obviously "Executor" is the class. The function prototype to insert some value to the hash table is: hash_item_t *ht_insert( hash_table_t *ht, ulong key, ulong data ); So basically i'm doing the insert double casting the method pointer: ht_insert( table, ASSIGN, reinterpret_cast<ulong>( (void *)&Executor::onAssign ) ); Where table is defined as a 'hash_table_t *' inside the declaration of the Executor class, ASSIGN is an unsigned long value, and 'onAssign' is the method I have to map. Now, Executor::onAssign is stored as an unsigned long value, its address in memory I think, and I need to cast back the ulong to a method pointer. But this code: hash_item_t* item = ht_find( table, ASSIGN ); expression_delegate_t delegate = reinterpret_cast < expression_delegate_t > (item->data); Gives me the following compilation error : src/executor.cpp:45: error: invalid cast from type ‘ulong’ to type ‘Object* (Executor::*)(vframe_t*, Node*)’ I'm using GCC v4.4.3 on a x86 GNU/Linux machine. Any hints?

• Paging To The End Of A Data View Web Part

  Hi all! Hopefully you can help me with this. I've displayed an Announcement web part on a page with 20 items. I opened up SharePoint Designer 2007 and set the paging to 6 items. I've added a little bit of (OOB) functionality so that I have buttons for START, PREVIOUS, and NEXT. These work well without any problems but I'm wondering how do I get END to work? I tried using the $LastRow & $RealLastRow values supplied by the web part but those just give me the number of how many items are in the current view, not the total items in the list. Little help!

I want to return an array with all the online users which is retrieved from a mysql statement, and I want to send other separate variables I need for other purposes along with it.   I have single service contract that has 2 service operations. Let me call these operations as X1 and X2. How do I configure X1 to be accessible through HTTP and X2 to be accessible through TCP/IP. Trying to display a hebrew string that starts with a number, always displays the number at the end of the string like so: 1. ??? ???? ????? but I need the number to be displayed at the right side of the text- any solution to that? It happens with UILabel & UITextField & UITextView and trying to write the number at the left side also produce the same resault. Playing with combinations of UITextAlignment will doesn't help.

  I ran a C++ program in Xcode, and encountered a warning of "Control may reach end of non-void function". I'm implementing the semi-standard -- to turn off special treatment of subsequent arguments, and # as comment marker. I also want to implement a marker for 'disregard all arguments from here on', i.e. an end marker. Is there a common/semi-standard way to indicate this? Or, what way would people find least surprising?

• Convert JSON flattened for forms back to an object

  I am required (please therefore no nit-picking the requirement, I've already nit-picked it, and this is the req) to convert certain form fields that have "object nesting" embedded in the field names, back to the object(s) themselves. Below are some typical form field names: phones_0_patientPhoneTypeId phones_0_phone phones_1_patientPhoneTypeId phones_1_phone The form fields above were derived from an object such as the one toward the bottom (see "Data"), and that is the format of the object I need to reassemble. It can be assumed that any form field with a name that contains the underscore _ character needs to undergo this conversion. Also that the segment of the form field between underscores, if numeric, signifies a Javascript array, otherwise an object. I found it easy to devise a (somewhat naive) implementation for the "flattening" of the original object for use by the form, but am struggling going in the other direction; below the object/data below I'm pasting my current attempt. One problem (perhaps the only one?) with it is that it does not currently properly account for array indexes, but this might be tricky because the object will subsequently be encoded as JSON, which will not account for sparse arrays. So if "phones_1" exists, but "phones_0" does not, I would nevertheless like to ensure that a slot exists for phones[0] even if that value is null. Implementations that tweak what I have begun, or are entirely different, encouraged. If interested let me know if you'd like to see my code for the "flattening" part that is working. Now my questions If I click the button in the listboxItem how do I get the listboxitem and the object bound to it back. In order to delete the object from the database I have to retrieve it somehow. I tried something like ListBoxItem lbi1 = (ListBoxItem)(taglistBox.ItemContainerGenerator.ContainerFromItem(taglistBox.Items.CurrentItem)); ObjectInQuestion t = (ObjectInQuestion) lbi1.Tag; Is there a way to automatically update the contents of the ListBox if the Itemssource changes? Right now I'm achieving that by taglistBox.ItemsSource = null; taglistBox.ItemsSource = ObjectInQuestion; I'd appreciate any help you can give :D Thanks in advance
