• Chrome dispay Glich when GPU acc. on

  Hy Everyone! I have some graphics glich when enable gpu acc. in chrome. If i disable acceleraion it fix the glich but, in full HD most of flash videos frame rate drop above frogs a**, so very slow... :) Any idea, what can i do? I Upload 2 pics from glich. My hardware: CM Hyper TX 3 on AMD A5300 with HD 7480D 6 GB RAM I use official AMD driver from amd.com, Ubuntu 14.04(I upgraded from 12.04, in Ubuntu 12, same glitch with old drivers.) I reinstalld x.org completly and purge all config files, but this didnt resolve the problem.   I have installed Ubuntu on another partition on my macbook only to find when i boot using refit im greeted with a screen that reads Missing Operating System I have chosen to install grub on the root partition so i assume after the EFI boot-loader has done its stuff it will then load grub in the " / " partition. Any thoughts on this i couldn't find anyone with this problem. I can only assume its a problem with the GRUB install on the partition. But i have tried to reinstall it and it did not work....? Any thoughts would greatly appreciated. Bill

• Chargeback and billing across public and private clouds

  Had a great conversation today regarding the need for metering, chargeback, and billing of cloud computing resources. The person I spoken with at a Fortune 1000 company increased the scope and magnitude of the issue of billing for cloud computing resources beyond what I had previously considered. I believed that doing any type of chargeback and billing for one public, private or hybrid installation was difficult. This person pointed out that the problem is even bigger in scope. The reality is many companies are using multiple public cloud vendors and have many different private cloud data centers. A customer may use AWS for some smaller public cloud applications, Salesforce.com (SaaS), Rackspace for IaaS, Savvis for colocation and a variety of Iaas and PaaS implementations for the private cloud. How does a company get a consolidated bill for all these different cloud environments? I am not sure their is an answer right now.

• Wireless problems on HP

  I'm not able to enable Wireless using the hardware switch on my HP ProBook4430s. Because of this the Enable Wireless option is greyd out and I cannot enable it. The greyd out option can be seen in the screenshot below. The results of iwconfig for my system are as follows, lo no wireless extensions. wlan0 IEEE 802.11bgn ESSID:off/any Mode:Managed Access Point: Not-Associated Tx-Power=off Retry long limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off Power Management:off eth0 no wireless extensions.   Yesterday i was playing around of the wireless settings, and set up a tftp server. Today, i found the wireless icon does not show up on the panel anymore.. monitor and bluetooth are still there... I did: ifconfig -a, and it shows: etho0 link encap:ethernet, and it has: HWaddress inet6 addresss. RXbytes 0 TX bytes: 0, but it does not even have a ip4 address, nor a mask. The other one is: l0 link encap: local loopback inet addr 127.0.0.1. mask 2550 0 0 Can anyone help me how to reset the settings for my wireless connection? Thanks

• Can't control connection bit rate using iwconfig with Atheros TL-WN821N (AR7010)

  I'm trying to reduce the connection bit rate on my Atheros TP-Link TL-WN821N v3 usb wifi adapter due to frequent instability issues (reported connection speed goes down to 1Mb/s and I have to physically reconnect the adapter to regain a connection). I know this is a common problem with this device, and I have tried everything I can think of to fix it, including using drivers from linux-backports; compiling and installing a custom firmware (following instructions on https://wiki.debian.org/ath9k_htc#fw-free) and (as a last resort) using ndiswrapper. When using ndiswrapper, the wifi adapter is stable and operates in g mode at 54Mb/s (whilst when using the default ath9k_htc module, the adapter connects in n mode and the bit rate fluctuates constantly). Unfortunately, with this setup I have to run my processor using only one core, since using SMP with ndiswrapper causes a kernel oops on my system. So I want to lock my bit rate to 54Mb/s (or less, if need be) for connection stability, using the ath9k_htc module. I've tried 'sudo iwconfig wlan0 rate 54M'; the command runs with no error but when I check the bit rate with 'sudo iwlist wlan0 bitrate' the command returns: wlan0 unknown bit-rate information. Current Bit Rate:78 Mb/s Any ideas? Here's some info (hopefully relevant) on my setup: Xubuntu (12.04.3) 64bit (kernel 3.2.0-55.85-generic) using Network Manager. • Error downloading novacom drivers &ndash; WebOS

  I got sick of the Bing Maps on WebOS not being able to find “coffee” when I’m in St. Paul.  Coffe Pk, TX anyone? – no thanks.  So I finally got around to installing PreWare on my Palm Pre 2.  The WebOS Quick Install doesn’t successfully download the novacom drivers.  You can find them here: http://downloads.help.palm.com/opensource/novacom/novacom-win-32.tgz http://downloads.help.palm.com/opensource/novacom/novacom-win-64-tgz Don’t bother trying the Novacom Universal Installer either. Then put phone in developer mode (by Typing webos20090606 and switch on developer mode), attach phone in “Just Charge” mode, run WebOS Quick Install, select the globe icon, and search for PreWare, install.

  My question is fairly simple. I've heard one or two people call it a "wayfinder" and I personally call it "breadcrumb", then again "paginator" can also fit the bill. Bottom line is I can't seem to find what I need because I am not coming up with the right term. What I want is the following: I have a site with a multiple-pages form. I want my users to see the steps through the form. I searched for all three terms and nothing I can use has shown. I could build one from scratch but I am interested in what is out there. Someone may have done a better job than I will be doing. Any idea on what to call this and if you have a link I can check out, that will be bonus Thanks

  My question has to do with whether to create an oDesk agency (I've searched to verify that oDesk questions are appropriate). I have a project for which I was hired, and the client has given me authorization to subcontract a few hours of UI/UX expertise. I don't want to make the client hire the UI/UX guy directly; however, if I hire someone with my company account and then bill the client for the time, oDesk is taking 19% off the top (10% twice). I've checked their FAQ and filed a support ticket several days ago, but nobody has replied. If there's anyone who has had experience with oDesk agencies, do you think it can be handled this way? In other words, can I be the developer in my own agency while also having a UX person on the team?

  When I installed Ubuntu Server 12.04, I selected the ethernet adapter because I will use that most often; however, I would like to use wifi sometimes as well. • Linux does not connect to wireless network under Hyper-V with Windows 8

  I have a VM I am trying to run under Hyper-V on Windows 8 Pro. I am using an Asus PDE-N15 adapter on the host machine. When I run Windows 8 in the VM it connects to the network and everything works. When I use Linux (Ubuntu 13.04 32-bit, Ubuntu 13.04 64-bit, Fedora, CentOS) it will not connect to the network. When I run ifconfig I see the adapter show up as eth0 with the correct HWaddr. I see that TX bytes 0, and RX bytes == 0. Could anyone help me figure out how to get this to work?

• iPhone speech recognition API?

  The new iPhone 3GS has support for voice commands, stuff like "call Bill" or "play music by the strokes" and whatnot. I was looking through the iPhone SDK, but I cannot find any references to this capability. All of the search keywords I choose seem to only find the new voice chat functionality. Does anyone know whether Apple has added voice command APIs to the SDK, or whether it's yet another forbidden API? If it does exist, could someone point a particular class out to me?
