• receive a responseText in ajax but without div tag

  Hi everyone I want to know if there is any other way whithout using a div tag to receive response html when sending parameter whith ajax. I'am asking because when iam building the select in other servlet and returning the result to jsp it receive the responsehtml in a div tag when we use the famous: x = xhr.responseText; document.getElementById('param').innerHTML = x; with param is the id of div tag. Note: this works fine when populating ddl but its constraint are multiple for my case. Thinks.

• setTimeout is acting weird

  I am trying to make a simple setTimeout, to make a div tag invisible after 2 seconds. The setTimeout function makes the div invisible but irregularly, sometimes immediately and sometimes after 1 sec, and so on. Here is my code: function beginTimeOut(){ t = setTimeout(function(){hideSubMenu()},2000); } function hideSubMenu(){ var elem; elem = document.getElementById("ul_navlist1"); elem.style.visibility="hidden"; clearTimeout(t); } By the way, t is a global variable. I have tried this too: t = setTimeout("hideSubMenu()",2000); but with the same irregular results.

Say you have in a website this html code. <button onclick="searchClick();" value="SomeValue" type="button" class="submitBtn"><span>Some Button Text</span></button> How can i retrieve this and perform click using the WebBrowser .NET Component in winforms? Can't get nothing with GetElementById...or can't seem to find how to use the GetElementsByTag... Any help appreciated.

  At the moment I achieve this using something like this: var myElem = "<tr id='tr-1'><td>content</td></tr>"; $("#myTable").append(myElem); $("#tr-1").click(function() { // blah blah }); Traditionally, when I wasn't using jQuery, I used to do something like this: var myElem = document.createElement(...); var myTable = document.getElementById("myTable"); myTable.appendChild(myElem); myElem.onclick = function() { // blah blah } The thing is, in the second approach I already have a reference to myElem and I don't have to scan the DOM ($("#tr-1")) to find it, like the jQuery approach, and hence it should be much faster especially in big pages. Isn't there a better jQuery-ish way to accomplish this task?

  I have a drop down menu that I want to have selected on page load. This is what I'm using at the moment: var selector = document.getElementById("action_person").firstChild; var n = 0; while(selector.options[n] != null) { if(selector.options[n].value == "person") { selector.options.selectedIndex = n; } n++; } I've also tried replacing selector.options.selectedIndex = n with selector.options[n].selected = true. However, it never selects for me. It always shows the item at the top of the drop down. I've verified that the value "person" does exist in the drop down, and that the variable "selector" does point to a valid drop down. What am I doing wrong here?

  Hi all, I am having an issue positioning a background image using the following jquery background position command in Firefox, Google Chrome, and Safari. The code works correctly in IE 8. $('#element).css({ backgroundPosition: 'xpx ypx' }); The x position of the image is calculated dynamically based on window size and the y position is static. The css appears to be modified correctly, however, the background image I am attempting to overlay is absent.   Hi, how come that when I attach onchange by attribute and call it onchange="validateDate(FPR_CURR_FROM);" it works, but when I use a ASP .NET validator, and my attached function is called like : function anonymous() { ValidatorOnChange(event); validateDate(FPR_CURR_FROM); } I get error: FPR_CURR_FROM is undefined. First off: I know that using FPR_CURR_FROM to access element is BAD, and I should use getElementByID etc... And I will change it eventually. But as I bumped into that code, I'm curious what caused it - propably visibility of variables I guess.

Now from the aspx page, i am trying to access one of the registered usercontrol's hiddenfield value in my aspx page using javacript using the below code: tst = document.getElementById('control1$hdnField').value; I looked into the page's trace, and i could see 'control1$hdnField'.   Using the HTML5 <canvas> element, I would like to load an image file (PNG, JPEG, etc.), draw it to the canvas completely transparently, and then fade it in. I have figured out how to load the image and draw it to the canvas, but I don't know how to change its opacity once it as been drawn.   Hello, I currently have the following js code function clearMulti(option) { var i; var select = document.getElementById(option.parentNode.id); for(i=1;i<select.options.length;i++) { select.options[i].selected=false; } } and function clearAllOpt(select) { select.options[0].selected = false; } The first one deselects all options in the multiple select when called and the second clears the first option whenever anything else is selected. The need for this is that the first option is for All. This all works fine and dandy in FF, but in IE8 nothing happens... any suggestions on how to get this to work in both? Thanks in advance.

  I have a drop down list with known values. What I'm trying to do is set the drop down list to a particular value that I know exists using jQuery. Using regular JavaScript, I would do something like: ddl = document.getElementById("ID of element goes here"); ddl.value = 2; // 2 being the value I want to set it to. However, I need to do this with jQuery because I'm using a CSS class for my selector (stupid ASP.NET client ids...).
