• UndeclaredThrowableException due to SQLException in Spring + iBatis?

  Hello, I am getting the following exception when I typo the SQL driver name or the database server is offline, basically any SQLException. I can't determine where the UndeclaredThrowableException is coming from. • keeping xmphp bot always online

  I created a simple xmpp bot in PHP which connects to google talk server. I basically modified the cli_longrun example. When I run the script in browser the bot comes online and stays online for a while even after I close the tab on which the script was running (as it is just an infinite loop listening for events on the stream). But after a while the bot becomes offline. The question is how do I keep the bot always online. One way I can think of is to run a cron that would disconnect the earlier one and start a new session. But is there a better approch?

  Curious. I'm starting to broadcast high school football games online, and it uses a program to broadcast the feeds off my computer. However, when I shut the program down or the computer down, the server goes offline and guests won't be able to access the feeds. Is there any kind of code out there that I can post onto my website that will indicate to my guests whether the server is on or off? I would figure it would be a simple code, a php script or something that periodically checks to see if a site is on line and then displays ON or OFF.

  I'm a lone developer at the moment; please share you experiences on what is a good VC setup for a lone developer. My constraints are; I work on multiple machines and need to keep them synced up Sometimes I work offline I'm currently using Subversion(just the client to a remote server), and that is working ok. I'm interested in mecurial and git DVCS, but none of their use-cases make sense to my situation. EDIT: I've migrated my active development to Fossil http://www.fossil-scm.org/ after trialing it with a client. I really like the features to autosync my repositories(reducing accidental forks), the documentation support(both wiki and embedded/versioned) that supports my need to document the code and the project in different spaces, the easy to configure issue tracker, nice access control, skinnable web interface and helpful community.

  This is a theoretical problem I am curious about. Websites are hosted on servers. Servers can be taken offline. Is it possible to host a website in the 'ether' of the Internet -- not on a server -- so that it cannot be taken down? One example, is that the website is hosted on other websites, like a parasite. Another is that it is assembled through storing pieces on DNS machines, routers, etc., so that it get assembled on the fly. The purpose is that this website could live forever because no one person can remove it. The answers I am looking for are plausible idea/approaches on technically how this could be built.

  Hello, This has been bothering me for awhile, can some one show me how to ping a counter strike server. I just want to ping the server and see if it is online, thats all. I found many small snippets online that were using fsock and UDP to do this but none of them actually did the job i wanted it to do. Most of the ones i found were showing offline servers as online. • Can documents indexed with Solr on JDK6 be retrieved using only lucene api on JDK1.4?

  My runtime environment is still on JDK1.4 but I like the Solr features related to how documents are ingested and indexed. Would I be able to index my documents using Solr offline on a recent version of the JDK, copy the index over and use it in my runtime environment with an older version of the JDK? Version wise, Solr 1.4.0 uses Apache Lucene 2.9.1 which is JDK1.4 compatible. (but Solr itself requires JDK5). Assuming what I'm trying to do is even possible, what features would I lose if I search Solr indices only with the Lucene API?

  I'm looking for something that applies the collaboration focus (one location/URL, always up-to-date, multi-person online read/write access anywhere) of google docs / google spreadsheets to wireframing. Bonus points if, like Google Docs, it needs only a browser yet also works offline. More bonus points if it supports automatic revisions. Even more bonus points if you can hand out login-less 'invitation' URLs like Flickr does, instead of forcing people into signing up for accounts or using their home accounts. To start off, there's one called iPlotz, but it didn't enchant me -- ironically, mostly because of its akward UI, which can't hold a candle to omnigraffle (don't let that prevent you from giving it a try though). And no, paper prototyping, wonderful as it is, does not qualify: it does not combine being instantly globally shareable & editable very well :-)

  I have a folder full of XHTML files, and a console program to process them. The problem is, it doesn't work when I'm offline, because The remote name could not be resolved: 'www.w3.org' A number of sites, including this one, say to set the XmlResolver to null. That is not not working. I have tried setting the XmlResolver to null every way that I can think of: in the XmlDocument, in XmlTextReader, and in the XmlReaderSettings. I believe that it's just creating a default instance. • best way to get new access_token using PHP sdk

  I am getting the error "An active access token must be used to query information about the current user". There seems to be tons of articles and ideas, but am very confused and it seems that things are changing as well. A lot say to use offline-access but that appears to be going away. I did find this article. Does anyone have an example using the PHP SDK?   As a software developer one sometimes gets feature requests that seem to be in some kind of morally grey area. Sometimes one can deflect them, or implement them in a way that feels less 'evil' - sometimes - on reflection - while the feature request 'feels' wrong theres no identifiable part of it that actually causes harm. Sometimes one feels a feature is totally innocent but various anti virus products start tagging one as malware. For example - I personally consider EULAs to (a) hopefully be unenforceable and (b) a means by which rights are REMOVED from consumers. However Anti Virus scanners frequently mark as malware any kind of download agent that does not display a EULA. Which to me is the result of a curious kind of double think. What I want to know is - are there any online (or offline) resources that cover evil software development practices? How can I know if a software practice that I consider dodgy is in fact evil enough to consider fighting?

  Is there an easy way using a library to facilitate the synchronization of two hibernate instances. One running locally on a client and one running on a central server exposed via a web service. So Client tracks changes it makes, pushes them to the Server. The server ensures that the clients is not updating out of sync objects and stores the clients changes. The Client can also sync with the Server so that it can see the changes made by other clients. The idea is that the client can be run offline, without access to the server and only come online to synchronize when needed.

  I just saw the first git tutorial at http://blip.tv/play/Aeu2CAI How does git store all the versions of all the files and still be more economical in space than subversion which saves only the latest version of the code? I know this can be done using compression but that would be at the cost of speed, but this also says that git is much faster (though where is gains the max is the fact that most of its operations are offline). So, my guess is that git compresses data extensively it is still faster because uncompression + work is still faster than network_fetch + work Am I correct? even close?

• AJAX: Statusbar: force update of UpdatePanel while function executes

  Hi Guys, I have a label inside an update panel which I wouldl ike to use as a status bar. Basically the user clicks a button which executes a main fucntion that performs a series of tasks. I'd like to inform the user as to the state of the function as it progresses e.g.: Stage 1: Retrieving data... Stage 2: Calculating values... Stage 3: Printing values... Stage 4: Done! I've tried updating the updatepanel directly from the function but it only updates the panel at the end of function (stage 4) and shows "Done!" (which I understand is how it should work). I've been looking into timers and threads to try and update the panel seperate to the main function but I thought I'd post here incase anyone has any better ideas? Thanks for any help in advance!   Hello I have a server with live databases, and I have a test-server where I sometimes restore databases from the live one, to get fresh data. But this way I have to set up all the users again, I have about 4 different users with different permissions that need set again. Is there some way to do this a better way without using detach and attach, since I cant take the databases offline on the live-server? Prefered some thing I could run that "re-fills" the tables with fresh data. No need to redo stored procedures and rights. /M

  I am working on RSS reader code where articles get downloaded and are viewable offline. The problem is only after all articles are downlaoded the tableview containing headlines gets updated. Core data is used. So everytime NSobjectcontext is saved , [self tableview updatebegins ] is called.The table is getting updated via fetchcontroller core data. I tried saving NSobjectcontext everytime an article is saved but that is not updating the tableview. Does a distributed version control system like Mercurial or Git still give us advantages over our current centralized Subversion set up? If so, what are they? Are there any drawbacks or pitfalls?   Hey guys, I'm using a client - server app. When a client starts, he gets a login-screen. When the server is not up yet, the call to the server will throw an exception which i catch (EndpointNotFoundException). I show a messagebox telling the user the server is offline. When he tries to reconnect again, it will throw another exception (CommunicationObjectFaultedException), even though the server is online. When a new client starts then, he can connect to the server. But the client who attempted before, still gets the error. My question now is how can the first client login after a failed first try without having to start his program again. So i want to clear the communicationchannel of its faulted state or something like that. Thanks in advance.

We are noticing employees use more their smartphones than their laptops, but they cannot access the document management system. So, we are thinking about a CMS, with persistent storage, perhaps developed in Java. I just started looking into Jease and dotCMS, and also checked here those recommendations in questions like "Best Open Source Java CMS", etc I find some CMSs too bulky for simple stuff like what we need which is basically document download/edit/upload, and some simple collaboration and personalization stuff. Smartphones of choice in our workforce are Nokia, Blackberry and IPhone, The question is: are there java based with persistent db CMSs aimed at Smartphones right now?   I have a system to handle Applications online and a different system to send SMS/Email notifications to applicants on completion using web services. I can't guarantee the availability of the SMS/Email gateway. Option 1 After an application is complete, place a message on a JMS queue. A Message Driven bean receives the message and make a call for the web service, if it fails leave the message on the queue. I suspect (please correct if incorrect) that if the gate way is offline the continuosly try to send the message which might use up valuable resources. Can the above option be refined are are there any other messaging strategies that can be used?

  I will have a client application using a proxy to a WCF Service. This client will be a windows form application doing basicHttpBinding to N number of endpoints at an address. The problem I want to resolve is that when any windows form application going across the internet to get my web server that must have my web server online will need to know that this particular WCF Service is online. I need an example of how this client on a background thread will be able to do a polling of just "WCF Service.., Are You There?" This way our client application can notify clients before they invest a lot of time in building up work client-side to only be frustrated with the WCF Service being offline.   I've installed MYOB on SBS server 2003. Why? Because the users were using offline files and it turned out there was about 7 versions of the file both locally and on the server that were out of sync... So the only way I could control the file access was to force RDP to the server... Always using the server file and always in sync... Anyway, this issue occurs in MYOB Accounting Plus 18.5. Cannot get the function address for "MAPISendMail" from "MAPI32.dll" Please check your Mapi installation I just want to send mail from MYOB but I can't - MYOB support is useless and blames everyone else...(i.e. Microsoft and outlook) I have found other people with the same problem whose resolution appears to be to copy MAPI32.dll into myob directory but that hasn't worked for me...
