    Would it be smart to have a vector in an object with a list of pointers that point to it? This way when the object is deleted, it could delete all the pointers pointing to it to prevent a null-pointer exception?

  • Dereferencing within a buffer

    Let's say I had a char pointer pointing to a buffer that contained these values (in hex): 12 34 56 78 00 00 80 00 I want to modify the last two bytes to a short value of 42. So I would think I would have to do something like this: (short)*(pointer+6)=42; The compiler doesn't complain but it does not do what I'm expecting it to do. Can someone tell me the correct way to assign the value?

    I have two tables that I'm filling, 'msrun' and 'feature'. 'feature' has a foreign key pointing to the 'msrun_name' column of the 'msrun' table. Inserting in the tables works fine. But when I try to delete from the 'feature' table I get the following error: pysqlite2.dbapi2.OperationalError: foreign key mismatch From the rules of foreign keys in the manual of SQLite: - The parent table does not exist, or - The parent key columns named in the foreign key constraint do not exist, or - The parent key columns named in the foreign key constraint are not the primary key of the parent table and are not subject to a unique constraint using collating sequence specified in the CREATE TABLE, or - The child table references the primary key of the parent without specifying the primary key columns and the number of primary key columns in the parent do not match the number of child key columns. I can see nothing that I'm violating.     For doing string concatenation I've been doing basic strcpy,strncpy of char* buffers. Then I learned about the snprintf and friends. Should I stick with my strcpy,strcpy + \0 terminiation. Or should I just use snprintf in the future? thanks

  • Separate php.ini file for each Apache virtual host?

    Is it possible to have a separate php.ini file that overrides the default php.ini file for each virtual host? I'm running Apache/2.2.14, PHP 5.3.2-1. For example I have several vhosts pointing to domains in my /var/www/ directory: /var/www/website1.com /var/www/website2.com What I'd like is to be able to place a custom php.ini file in each directory that would override the default values only for that vhost, but keep the original defaults if the value isn't specified: /var/www/website1.com/htdocs/ /var/www/website1.com/php.ini

  • Can one use polygon() or equivalent in lattice and ggplot2 plots?

    Is it possible to annotate lattice (or ggplot2) figures with elements created with polygon() (or elements created with a similar function) from the graphics library? I'm not too familiar with either library beyond examples of simple graphs posted on the web and printed in Deepayan Sarkar's book. Therefore, while I have code for what I've been doing in R with the graphics library, pointing me to relevant, equivalent functions and usage examples for lattice or ggplot2 specifically would be appreciated.     Since I've read Windows User Experience Interaction Guidelines (there's a PDF download avaliable) I've found it to be admirably self-deprecating, humbly pointing out their own horrible UI practices long scolded by Joel Spolsky. I'd like to know, however, what they had in mind while they made those mistakes. Is this (terrific) UX Guidelines document something new, or were there previous issues of such? If so, where can I find them? My prayers to Google yielded no leniency.

Is there a slicker way than using File.expand_path?

    I'm learning Chinese at the moment and I have gotten my hand on a Chinese dictionary definition. Now I would like to make an interface. All I really want the application to do is when I point my mouse pointer over any text on the screen (in any window), it would identify the text I am pointing at and then display a small form over it, which would the chinese transaction. Is that possible to do? Can WinForms apps interact with windows outside of it's own application?

    Generally speaking, for combining a lot of data is it better to use a temp table/temp variable as a staging area or should I just stick to "UNION ALL"? Assumptions: No further processing is needed, the results are sent directly to the client. The client waits for the complete recordset, so streaming results isn't necessary.

I simply use /var/www/html/ as root of the app. do I need to buy 2 godaddy certificates, one for each domain? It seems that godaddy certificate is tied to a domain, not ip, can someone clarify?

Therefor I need to have two ruby installations (for the same version 1.8.7), each one pointing to a different set of .so files. How can I do that? Gemset usage is already too late because library binding is done when rvm install installs a ruby version.

  • What is the impact of upgrading MSBuild to VS2010 for projects targeting .NET Framework 2.0 and 3.5?

    I’m working on the build process for a VS 2010 solution and some projects within it target the .NET framework 4.0. As far as I know, to have this type of solution built by TFS 2008 we will have to change the version of the MSBuild.exe file used by the build agent – modifying the TFSBuildService.exe.config file, pointing MSBuildPath entry accordingly. Do you know if this will have any impact to existing project builds that target the 2.0 and 3.5 framework? Are you aware of any known issues with this type of set up?
