  • Open x64 'SOFTWARE' registry key in C#

    I am trying to read the 64-bit HKLM\SOFTWARE registry key from a 32-bit (C#) application. This, of course, keeps redirecting my view to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node. According to what I've found this is doable, but I can't seem to find a .NET example anywhere. I just need to read; not write. Anyone ran across this before?

  • Worst aspect of Python for a newbie

    I'm wondering specifically what experienced programmers thought when they started developing in Python. I'm sure the answer depends on your background, but my own personal answer is the conversion of basically anything in the language to a True/False value in boolean contexts. Resulting in "oddities" like: if x: not meaning the same thing as: if x == True: I understand why, but it bugs me, and I certainly had to think about it a bit when I first ran into it.

  • CSS Unwanted padding in IE using floats.

    It's been a long day of designing and I ran into a problem today. The website www.dcninc.com/newtest/security_testing.php is a new design I'm working on at work right now. If you view it in Firefox you will notice there is no padding on the 2 right boxes (I did that on purpose to trouble shoot my problem) However if you view that same page in IE, it adds padding to the right side.     In my Django app, I just ran $ python manage.py sqlall and I see a lot of SQL statements that look like this, when describing FK relationships: ALTER TABLE `app1_model1` ADD CONSTRAINT model2_id_refs_id_728de91f FOREIGN KEY (`model2_id`) REFERENCES `app1_model2` (`id`); Where does "7218de91f" come from? I would like to know because I'd like to manually write SQL statements to accompany models changes in the app so that my db's can be kept up to date.

  • HTTP 403.9 - Access Forbidden: Too many users are connected

    hi I have created an application in VStudio. It ran nicely in debugging mode, but my computer became slower and slower as I worked until it finaly became frozen. after I manualy restarted it, the app wasn't running any more in debug and I get this execption in the browser. Only I am connected right now to the app. I have restarted the computer so there coudn't be any instance of a client connected I have removed and reinstalled the IIS what is wrong?

  • UIView animation cancels previous animation?

    Hi I have an NSTIMER that counts the time, and on t = 10, it fires an animation but during that time it might happen that another animation is running. This causes the previously running animation to cut off. Any idea? i thought UIVIEW animations were ran in diff threads. I cannot use a willstop selector here since t = 10 might happen while another animation is running and might not have ended yet.

  • understanding of FPS and the methods they use

    Just looking on resources that break down how frames per second work. I know it has something to do with keeping track of Ticks and figure out how many ticks occured between each frame. But I never ran into any resources on why exactly you have to use the methods you use in order to get a smooth frame work. I am trying to get a thourough understanding of this.     I have a root view controller with no nib file, I tried adding this at cellForRowAtIndexPath as that passes in a UITableView as tableView. So I put : tableView = [[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:self.view.frame style:UITableViewStyleGrouped]; It ran with no error but it didnt seem to change anything.

    In the Android open-source qemu code I ran across this line of code: machine->max_cpus = machine->max_cpus ?: 1; /* Default to UP */ It this just a confusing way of saying: if (machine->max_cpus) { ; //do nothing } else { machine->max_cpus = 1; } If so, wouldn't it be clearer as: if (machine->max_cpus == 0) machine->max_cpus = 1; Interestingly, this compiles and works fine with gcc, but doesn't compile on http://www.comeaucomputing.com/tryitout/ .

  • C# Console Program Won't Execute from Command Prompt

    I have made a very simple program in C#. When I double click the compiled exe, it executes and works. When I run the exe from the command prompt, it does absolutely nothing. I have tried executing it from an Administrator command prompt also. I am on Windows 7. This is very frustrating. The only command the program executes when ran is SendMessageW(Process.GetCurrentProcess().MainWindowHandle, WM_APPCOMMAND, Process.GetCurrentProcess().MainWindowHandle, (IntPtr)APPCOMMAND_VOLUME_MUTE);

  • Best Java thread-safe locking mechanism for collections?

    What would be the least-slow thread-safe mechanism for controlling multiple accesses to a collection in Java? I am adding objects to the top of a collection and i am very unsure what would be the best performing collection. Would it be a vector or a queue? I originally thought an ArrayList would be fast but i ran some experiments and it was very slow. EDIT: In my insertion testing a Vector delared using volatile seems to be the fastest?

Is the second loop faster? I'm asking because the times given by Junit are not too exact, but they give an approximate value

  • Including different code for other home screen replacement screens

    I have put together a Skin for OpenHome but have since ran across AHome code for their IPhone theme and was wondering that if I included for AHome their Dock_Bg or widget_drawer among other things which is not on OpenHome that the Launcher for the respective screen replacement would just call the items it uses.I want to keep the mb as low as I can but reach more handsets.I can just make seperate ones but see many that include even Freshface as well as OpenHome and AHome.

  • sonar code coverage issue

    Hi I am running sonar for my impl class, i have written junit for all the methods of impl class but when i ran the sonar the code coverage is just 11% and all the file is in red color. stating that the code is not covered. I really dont understand inspite of writing all the test methods for all the impl methods why is it showing such a less percentage. Any help or tips or guidelines will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • CPU Temperature sensor wrong?

    Everest Ultimate is suddenly telling me that the CPU temperature (and core temps) for my E6850 Core 2 Duo is 72 degrees Celsius. When I stress-test the machine, the temp goes up to 91 degrees and the CPU actually throttles. System remains stable though. For over a year now, my CPU has run very cool (40's) with a large commercial copper heatsink/fan that I bought separately. To top it off, I removed the cover of the box and felt the cpu heatsink and it wasn't even warm. Is there such a thing as a CPU temp sensor showing the wrong readings? Any tips would help. UPDATE #1 Temp is also just as high in BIOS. So that leads me to believe it's a CPU seating issue (even though I used thermal paste to seat it two years ago when I built the machine) UPDATE #2 Well. I removed the heatsink and cleaned off the original thermal paste (which was somewhat crusty). I polished the surface, re-applied some new paste, and reseated the heat sink. After powering it up, there was no noticeable change in the temp - ideling at 74. Ran the stress test and it went up to 94 degrees before being 100% throttled. I let it sit at 94 degrees for 20 minutes straight and the computer didn't even flinch. I then immediately shut it off and opened the case and felt around. The heatsink was completely cold to the touch. Even the copper rods were cold. The area near contact with the CPU was slightly warm but not hot to touch. Then I ran REALTEMP, which is supposedly more accurate and it told me the CPU was at 104 degrees. (LOL) At this point, I'm thinking no doubt the cpu's sensor is wrong. Sidenote: the BIOS has the latest version so no option to flash there. Reverting hasn't been known to help from what I've read. What pisses me off is the false temps force the CPU to artificially throttle from 3GHz down to 2GHz and my CPU fan is cranking at full force all the time. Should I call intel and tell them to send me another E6850? SOLUTION UPDATE I switched the processor out with another one and got the same obscene temperatures with the new processor followed by a heatsink that was cool to touch. My suspicion in the heatsink was suddenly renewed. I swapped it out with the stock heatsink/fan and lo and behold the temperatures returned to the normal 35C-50C. Even though the thermal paste was visibly flattened out every time I removed it, it looks like the heatsink was still not pressing hard enough on the CPU to effectively conduct the heat. The heatsink is a Masscool 8Wa741, which screws into a standard position on a mount on the back of the MOBO. Only thing I can surmise after 2 years of use was that, over time, the heatsink pressure on the CPU gave way until the heat began to be ineffectively conducted. Lessons learned: Intel CPU's can run SUPER HOT (upwards of 95C) and still be stable. Heatsink's need to be VERY firmly pressed against the CPU to conduct heat.

  • Windows 2008 Unknown Disks

    I have a BL460c G7 blade server with OS Windows 2008 R2 SP1. This is a brand new C7000 enclosure, with FlexFabric interconnects. I got my FC switches setup and zoned properly to our Clariion CX4, and can see all the hosts that are assigned FCoE HBAs on both paths in both Navisphere and in HP Virtual Connect Manager. So I went ahead and created a storage group for a test server, assigned the appropriate host, assigned the LUN to the server. So far so good, log onto server and I can see 4 unknown disks.... No problem, I install MS MPIO, no luck, can't initialize the disks, and the multiple disks don't go away. Still no problem, I install PowerPath version 5.5 reboot. Now I see 3 disks. One is initialized and ready to go, but I still have 2 disks that I can't initialize, can't offline, can't delete. If I right click in storage manager and go to properties I can see that the MS MPIO tab, but I can't make a path active. I want to get rid of these phantom disks, but so far nothing is working and google searches are showing up some odd results, so obviously I'm not framing my question right. I thought I'd ask here real quick. Does anyone know a quick way to get rid of these unknown disks. Another question, do I need the MPIO feature installed if I have PowerPath installed? This is my first time installing Windows 2008 R2 in this fashion and I'm not sure if that feature is needed or not right now. So some more information to add to this. It seems I'm dealing with more of a Windows issue than anything else. I removed the LUN from the server, uninstalled PowerPath completely, removed the MPIO feature from the server, and rebooted twice. Now I am back to the original 4 Unknown Disks (plus the local Disk 0 containing the OS partition of course, which is working fine) I went to diskpart, I could see all 4 Unknown disks, I selected each disk, ran clean (just in case i'd somehow brought them online previously as GPT and didn't realize it) After a few minutes I was no longer able to see the disks when I ran list disk. However, the disks are still in Disk Management. When I try and offline the disks from Disk Management I get an error: Virtual Disk Manager - The system cannot find the file specified. Accompanied by an error in System Event Logs: Log Name: System Source: Virtual Disk Service Date: 6/25/2012 4:02:01 PM Event ID: 1 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: hostname.local Description: Unexpected failure. Error code: 2@02000018 Event Xml: 1 2 0 0x80000000000000 4239 System hostname.local 2@02000018 I feel sure there is a place I can go in the Registry to get rid of these, I just can't recall where and I am loathe to experiement. So to recap, there are currently no LUNS attached at all, I still have the phantom disks, and I'm getting The system cannot find the file specified from Virtual Disk Manager when I try to take them offline. Thanks!
