• F# script to application

  I have written two small scripts, First one maintains a dictionary of current stock prices for a set of securities. I am using recursion to listen to a named pipe. Whenever there is something available on the name pipe, it updates the security price and goes right back and start listening to the pipe. The second one periodically reads the stock price of some security from the price cache of the first program and performs come calculation. But I have no idea how to make these two programs communicate. I somehow need to make my second programs start the first program and let it run in the background and get the price whenever it needs it. Can someone point me in the right direction?   I am still very new to the MVC framework, but I managed to create a controller that reads from a database and writes JSON to an url; host.com/Controllername?minValue=something&maxValue=something However when I move the site to a subfolder; host.com/mvc/ it doesn't seem to be able to call the controller from there when I do it like this; host.com/mvc/Procedure?minValue=something&maxValue=something Did I forget to do something somewhere to make this url call valid from that subfolder? Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

• Use matching value of a RegExp to name the output file.

  I have this file "file.txt" which I want to split into many smaller ones. Each line of the file has an id field which looks like "id:1" for a line belonging to id 1. For each id in the file, I like to create a file named idid.txt and put all lines that belong to this id in that file. My brute force bash script solution reads as follows. count=1 while [ $count -lt 19945 ] do cat file.txt | grep "id:$count " >> ./sets/id$count.txt count='expr $count + 1' done Now this is very inefficient as I have do read through the file about 20.000 times. Is there a way to do the same operation with only one pass through the file? - What I'm probably asking for is a way to use the value that matches for a regular expression to name the associated output file.

• Would this prevent the row from being read during the transaction?

  I remember an example where reads in a transaction then writing back the data is not safe because another transaction may read/write to it in the time between. So i would like to check the date and prevent the row from being modified or read until my transaction is finish. Would this do the trick? and are there any sql variants that this will not work on? update tbl set id=id where date>expire_date and id=@id Note: dateexpire_date happens to be my condition. It could be anything. Would this prevent other transaction from reading the row until i commit or rollback?

  In order to prevent a SQLite in-memory database from being cleaned up, one must use the same connection to access the database. However, using the same connection causes SQLite to synchronize access to the database. Thus, if I have many threads performing reads against an in-memory database, it is slower on a multi-core machine than the exact same code running against a file-backed database. Is there any way to get the best of both worlds? That is, an in-memory database that permits multiple, concurrent calls to the database?

I believe that Amazon recommendation is currently the best in the market, but how do they provide us with such relevant recommendations? Recently, we have been involved with similar recommendation kind of project, but would surely like to know about the in and outs of the Amazon recommendation technology from a technical standpoint. Any inputs would be highly appreciated. Update: This patent explains how personalized recommendations are done but it is not very technical, and so it would be really nice if some insights could be provided. • Streaming multiple TObjects to a TMemoryStream

  I need to store multiple objects (most of them are TObject/non persistent) to a TMemoryStream, save the stream to disk and load it back. The objects need to be streamed one after each other. Some kind of universal container. I started to make several functions that store stuff to stream - for example function StreamReadString(CONST MemStream: TMemoryStream): string; StreamWriteString(CONST MemStream: TMemoryStream; s: string); However, it seems that I need to rewrite a lot of code. One of the many examples is TStringList.LoadFromStream that will not work so it needs to be rewritten. This is because TStringList needs to be the last object in the stream (it reads from current position to the end of the stream). Anybody knows a library that provide basic functionality like this? I am using Delphi 7 so RTTI won't help too much.

  i have a scenario where i draw a network and set all it's paraments on swing based gui, after that i have to translate this network into a python based script which another framework reads and realize this network in the form of virtual machines. Now for now in order to realize the drawn network on java GUI here is what i am doing: I simply take the information from GUI and creates a new python file like the one above using java code and then run this file in mininet, which works fine somehow. I want to know, is this the correct and robust way how i am doing this or should i be looking further into java-python bridge like scenarios to be more effective or so as to say more professional.

• Can a proxy server cache SSL GETs? If not, would response body encryption suffice?

  Can a (||any) proxy server cache content that is requested by a client over https? As the proxy server can't see the querystring, or the http headers, I reckon they can't. I'm considering a desktop application, run by a number of people behind their companies proxy. This application may access services across the internet and I'd like to take advantage of the in-built internet caching infrastructure for 'reads'. If the caching proxy servers can't cache SSL delivered content, would simply encrypting the content of a response be a viable option? I am considering all GET requests that we wish to be cachable be requested over http with the body encrypted using asymmetric encryption, where each client has the decryption key. Anytime we wish to perform a GET that is not cachable, or a POST operation, it will be performed over SSL.

• Errors in Decimal Calcs within def clean method?

  I'm attempting a few simple calculations in a def clean method following validation (basically spitting out a euro conversion of retrieved uk product price on the fly). I keep getting a TypeError. Full error reads: Cannot convert {'product': , 'invoice': , 'order_discount': Decimal("0.00"), 'order_price': {...}, 'order_adjust': None, 'order_value': None, 'DELETE': False, 'id': 92, 'quantity': 8} to Decimal so I guess django is passing through the entire cleaned_data form to Decimal method. • Debug error in NetBeans

  I am running a C program in NetBeans (cygwin on windows). Generally for all C programs I have run in the past, while debugging, it stops and shows the line number of segmentation fault. But for this particular program, it does not show the line number and just stops and in the output tab, it shows prog stopped by SIGSEGV. I have tried conditional breakpoint, but it is not stopping. What could be the other conditions for error?   I have a console application written in c++. It simply reads an integer from standard input(keyboard) and writes another integer to standard output(screen). Now I want to give some tests to that program and check its answers using another program. In another words, I want to write electron judge for that program. • Force IOException during file reading

  I have the piece of code that reads data from file. I want to force IOException in this code for testing purpose (I want to check if code throws correct custom exception in this case). Is there a some way to create a file which is protected from being read, for example? Maybe dealing with some security checks can help? Please, note that passing name to not-existent file cannot help, because FileNotFoundException has separate catch clause. • PHP upload to GoDaddy hosted site

  Hi, relatively new to both hosting and PHP, so apologies for (probably) missing the obvious, but… I built a page which would allow file uploads to my site, following the example laid out here: W3Schools PHP upload exercise Through the File Manage on my Godaddy hosting, I created a folder named ’upload’ so that the file would land there after being uploaded through the page I had built. Part of the returned page that appears after submitted the file reads: Temp file: d:temptmpphpE4C9.tmp Stored in: upload/testfile.txt which would indicate that the file has been sucesscully uploaded given the code in the example. However, I cannot see the file in the ’upload’ folder via my File Manage, or anywhere else on the hosting of my site (as far as I can see). I also cannot see the ’temp’ folder anywhere either… Any help or clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Tim

• Changing Clickonce source folder

  We copy our production build in a separate folder using post-build events, and replace the app.config file with our production app.config. However Clickonce reads the files in bin\Release folder. I have also tried copying all files from our custom build location to bin\Release folder in the post-build event, but app.config is still overridden (I guess clickonce re-builds the project into bin\Release). Is it possible to tell Clickonce to read from our custom folder? Or, if that's not the right way to go, how do you handle this kind of situation?

  Hey all, I'm currently working on a robot interface GUI, using C#. The robot has two sensors, and two powered wheels. I need to let the user the option to load a Look Up Table (LUT) during runtime, one for each sensor, that will tell the robot what to do according to the sensor's reading. I think the best way to do it is using a .csv file, formatted like so: index , right wheel order, left wheel order the index is an int between 0-1023 and is actually the sensor's reading. the orders for the right and left wheel are integers, between -500 - 500. Example - left sensor's readings: 1,10,20 meaning: sensor reads 1 -- left wheel 10 rpm right wheel 20 rpm So my question is this: what is the best way to implement it? using a dataset?(if so, how?) using an array? (if so, how do I load it during runtime?) Any help would be much appreciated, Yarok

(Use of setInterval is required as per my knowledge) . Also I am using jquery in my templates. The server used is Django . Please provide some solution as in some sample code will be quite helpful .

• What is the best way to read files in an EventMachine-based app?

  In order not to block the reactor I would like to read files asynchronously, but I've found no obvious way of doing it using EventMachine. I've tried a few different approaches, but none of them feels right: Just read the file, it'll block the reactor, but what the hell, it's not that slow (unless it's a big file, and then it definitely is). Open the file for reading and read a chunk on each tick (but how much to read? too much and it'll block the reactor, too little and reading will get slower than necessary). EM.popen('cat some/file', FileReader) feels really weird, but works better than the alternatives above. In combination with the LineAndTextProtocol it reads lines pretty swiftly. EM.attach, but I haven't found any examples of how to use it, and the only thing I've found on the mailing list is that it's deprecated in favour of… EM.watch, which I've found no examples of how to use for reading files. How do you read files within a EventMachine reactor loop?

  If there is a view controller that wants to execute a number of block based tasks one at a time, how can the control be given back to the view controller after a completion block has executed. Lets say ViewControllerOne wants to execute a number of tasks, each relying on the result of the previous one, how would this control be given back to the viewcontroller after each completion block has been executed? I started thinking about this and I was heading towards a deeply nested block pattern that will surely only cause confusion to whoever else reads or tests it. A task executes and the completion block returns the result or error which is needed by the next task, which has its own completion task, that the next task relies on and so forth. How can the control be managed in one place, the viewcontroller? Would the completion block just call the next function that handles the next task, using a pointer to the view controller?

Sadly, following happens: The input <root><c/></root> gets transformed to <root><c><c/></root> I know, from XML point of view, these are equal trees, but not for a human ;) What can I do to get the same output? FYI: I need a XMLEvent[Reader|Writer] pair later to filter "XML events".
