• Javascript is called in IE and FF but not in Chrome, why?

  I have the following code below for a button on an aspx page. When it is clicked it should call a javascript that will print the text in that div. Everything works great in IE & Firefox but when it is tried in chrome it is as if the OnClientClick is not kicking off the javascript. I receive no errors and it works in IE and FF now. Below is the code for the button that calls the javascript. <asp:Button ID="btnEULAPrint" Text="Print" runat="server" ValidationGroup="EULA" OnClientClick="javascript:CallPrint('EULA');return false;"/> Anyone have any ideas or links they could share to point me in a direction? • Possible Encoding Issue Reading HTM File using .Net Streamreader

  I have an HTML file with a ® (copyright) and ™ (trademark) symbol in the text. These are just two among many other symbols. When I read the html file into a literal control it converts the symbols to something else. The copyright symbol converts to ? (open box in ff) The trademark symbol converts to ™ (as expected) If (System.IO.File.Exists(FullName)) Then Dim StreamReader1 As New System.IO.StreamReader(FullName) Contents.Text = StreamReader1.ReadToEnd() StreamReader1.Close() End If Contents is a <asp:Literal runat="server" ID="Contents"></asp:Literal> and it's the only control in the aspx page. From some research I think this is related to the encoding but I don't know why it would change how to fix it. The html file does not contain any Content-Type settings in the head section.

But if I remove ?action=something, I get all the data. Am I doing something wrong?

  I have an ASP.NET control that has an onclick event handler rendered inline on the element. I would like to call that function and have it raise the target control's server side event handler. <asp:CheckBox ID="Foo" runat="server" AutoPostBack="true" Text="Foo" /> <a href="#" onclick="javascript:setTimeout('__doPostBack(\'Foo\',\'\')', 0)">Test </a> I created the checkbox, looked at the rendered function on the field, and then copied that into the onclick on the anchor element. • New asp "showat" attribute required inconsistently in VS2010. Why?

  When I generate code using T4 templates in Visual Studio 2010, I get the following error for each of my asp controls when I try to compile: Control "ddState" is missing required attribute "showat". I have never gotten this error in previous versions of .NET. Further, I don't get this error when I manually construct my pages either by dragging/dropping, nor do I get it when I type out the control text myself. When I generate code, I have to manually add showat="client" to my tag for the compiler to be happy. It was my understanding that I never had to explicitly specify this tag. The following: <asp:dropdownlist id="ddState" runat="server" showat="client" /> solves the problem. Why do I have to add this to generated code but not other times? (It's a VS-2010 webforms project, using VB, in case that makes a difference.)

However in the SubjectFilter_SelectedIndexChanged method, SubjectFilter.SelectedValue is always Default, even though I'm selecting different options. What is the problem? Thank you very much.

  If I understand it right the new ACT ComboBox Control is Bound once to a given Datasource. But the count of the records I want to bind is very large. So I want to load the content of the ComboBox List via Ajax after the user typed in a few charachters. So at page load the combobox list should be empty and if something is typed in the list is loaded with the typed text as search text.   This might seem like a stupid easy question to some of you, but i'm new to jquery and can't get my datepicker to work like it should. This is my textbox where the datepicker is attached to: <asp:TextBox runat="server" ID="StartMonth" AutoPostBack="true" class="month-picker" /> and here is how i attach the datepicker. (I have multiple TextBoxes where the datepicker should be attached to, so i used the class attribute instead of the id.) $(".month-picker").datepicker({ dateFormat: 'MM yy', changeYear: true, yearRange: '-9:+9' }); What i want to archive is when i click into the textbox where the text is "August 2012" it should set the pre-selected date of the datepicker to this date. • Reuse ASP.NET Control Multiple Times on Page

  I feel somewhat foolish asking such a simple question, but I can't seem to find an answer. I'm new to ASP.NET (C#), but I'm learning by building a simple set of web pages that display a report. I have a variable that represents a company name. I need to output this variable in multiple places on the web page. The only way I have found to output a variable this is with: company_name.Text = "Acme Windows"; then <asp:literal id="company_name" runat="server" /> My problem is that I want to use company_name in multiple places on the page. Do I really have to create a separate variable holding the the same value for each time it is placed on the page? If I just copy the above XML code to all the places I want to show the variable it obviously creates a compile error since that ID is already defined. I feel like I'm missing something very obvious.

  Hi Is it possible to prevent the _doPostBack() call getting rendered on a button? I would like add some custom logic prior to calling the postback. I have added an onClick event to the button e.g. <button id="manualSubmit" runat="server" class="manual-submit" onclick="$('#jeweller-form').hide();" /> However, this just gets rendered inline before the _doPostBack() But the postback gets fired before the jQueryHide takes place I would like to call my own JS function then manually trigger the postback any ideas?

• Textbox1.Focus(); does not work; as does not Page.SetFocus(Textbox1); why?

  as stated both of these do not work: Textbox1.Focus(); or Page.SetFocus(Textbox1); any idea why? this is the control itself: <asp:TextBox ID="Textbox1" ClientIDMode="Static" CssClass="Textbox1" runat="server" MaxLength="80"></asp:TextBox> it is located on a page, two master pages deep. the form tag is on the second master page, so that is why the focus is not being set there. not working in: ie, firefox, chrome and safari (all latest versions). help! thnx
