• Compilers behave differently with a null parameter of a generic method

  The following code compiles perfectly with Eclipse, but fails to compile with javac: public class HowBizarre { public static <P extends Number, T extends P> void doIt(P value) { } public static void main(String[] args) { doIt(null); } } I simplified the code, so T is not used at all now. Still, I don't see a reason for the error. For some reason javac decides that T stands for Object, and then complains that Object does not conform to the bounds of T (which is true): HowBizarre.java:6: incompatible types; inferred type argument(s) java.lang.Number,java.lang.Object do not conform to bounds of type variable (s) P,T found : <P,T>void required: void doIt(null); ^ Note that if I replace the null parameter with a non-null value, it compiles fine. Which of the compilers behaves correctly and why? Is this a bug of one of them?

  So , I've been reading this article: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa290051%28VS.71%29.aspx And I would like to define my custom handler.However, I'm not sure I understand the mechanics well.What happens after a call is made to the user-defined function ( e.g. the argument of _set_security_error_handler() ) ? Does the program still terminate afterward ? If that is the case, is it possible to terminate only the current thread(assuming that it is not the main thread of the application).AFAIK, each thread has its own stack , so if the stack of a thread gets corrupted, the rest of the application shouldn't be affected. Finally, if it is indeed possible to only terminate the current thread of execution, what potential problems could such an action cause? I'm trying to do all this inside an unmanaged C++ dll that I would like to use in my C# code.

  Hi All, I am using flurry in my app, and I am new to that. I have some doubts. My requirement is, In my main activity I will start a session, and calling onevent method in some activities. And I am not calling endSeesion method anywhere. I want to know when the FlurryAgent will hit the flurry site. So do I need to call endSession then where should I call that method? How FlurryAgent maintains the session. In case if I call like this FlurryAgent.onEndSession(this); FlurryAgent.onStartSession(this, Constants.FLURRY_API); FlurryAgent.setLogEnabled(true); will it work like this - previous session will be closed and new session will be started. I can track only http urls using fiddler, when I try to track https calls then its getting crashed, I have modified ssl settings in fiddler, I dont know how to configure my emulator.   I've got a structure which holds names and ages. I've made a linked-list of these structures, using this as a pointer: aNode *rootA; in my main. Now i send **rootA to a function like so addElement(5,"Drew",**rootA); Because i need to pass rootA by reference so that I can edit it in other functions (in my actual program i have two roots, so return will not work) The problem is, in my program, i can't say access the structure members. *rootA->age = 4; for example doesnt work. Hopefully you guys can help me out. Thanks!

• Editing and iPhone SDK Framework ?

  I am working with MapKit and want to be able to add a (NSString *)itemTag value to each of my annotations. I have created myAnnotiation.m and myAnnotation.h I tried adding itemTag to the myAnnotation.h/m but when I try to access currentAnnotation.itemTag within my main code, it says "itemID not found in protocols" - so I went to the MapKit.Framework and into MKAnnotation.h. I added (NSString *)itemID, but when I save the .h file in the Framework, it changes the file's icon and doesn't appear to by jiving with everything else. Any help or links to help would be greatly appreciated. I am not even sure if I'm on the right path here, but Googling "modify iphone sdk framework" does not turn up much.

  I have some videos (mp4) with multiple language subtitles that can be read by an iphone. Users can select to view the subtitle and the language from the default iphone button in the video ui. I would like to be able to set a defalut programmatically, so that, for instance, an user can select a language just one time in the main screen and, from then on, all the videos will have that language subtitles on by default. I can't find anything in the official documentation. I tought about some workarounds like renaming srt files but i don't think it's possible witouht copying all the video files in the user documents dir (not an option).

  For a while now, my team and I have been wrapping our data access layer in a web service facade (using WCF) and calling it from the business logic layer. Meanwhile, we could simply use the repository pattern where the business logic layer consumes the data access layer locally through an interface, and at any point in time, we can switch things out for it to hit a service instead (if necessary). The question is: When is it a good time to wrap the data access layer in a service facade and when isn't it? Right now, it seems like the main advantage is that other applications can consume the service, but if they are internal applications written in .NET then they can just consume the .NET assembly instead. Are there other advantages of having the DAL be wrapped in a service that I am unaware of?

I've done enough research to know that threading is likely going to be involved. However, I'm having trouble applying what I've seen in simple examples of threading to what I'm trying to do.   I am working on an MVC app in Sencha Touch 2 and am having trouble getting a list to display in a nested panel. The structure of the app has a main view which is a tab panel. One of the items in the tab panel is a defined panel, xtype: 'homepanel'. An item in this panel is the list, xtype: 'newslist' that is linked to the appropriate store and model files. The list does not display unless I change its parent 'homepanel' to a type, Ext.navigation.View. What am I missing in the definition of 'homepanel' as a Panel that prevents the display of the list? • adhoc struct/class in C#?

  Currently i am using reflection with sql. I find if i want to make a specialize query it is easiest to get the results by creating a new class inheriting from another and adding the 2 members/columns for my specialized query. Then due to reflections in the lib in my c# code i can write foreach(var v in list) { v.AnyMember and v.MyExtraMember) Now instead of having the class scattered around or modifying my main DB.cs file can i define a class inside a function? I know i can create an anonymous object by writing new {name=val, name2=...}; but i need a to pass this class in a generic function func(query, args);

This prefix is used to extract natives in ;; jars that don't adhere to the default "<os>/<arch>/" layout that ;; Leiningen expects. Question 1: What does that mean? Question 2: If I upgrade the version: [org.apache.hbase/hbase "0.94.6.1" :classifier "tests" :scope "test"] Then I receive a ClassNotFoundException Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.apache.hadoop.hbase.HBaseConfiguration Whats going on here and how do I fix it?

I noticed that every time I use my main form, Visual studio slightly modifies my .resx file, which means that I keep having to re-commit it, which is quite an annoying thing. Has anybody experienced such problems? • Dismissing pickers and keyboards invoked by a UIWebView

  I am implementing an in-app browser using UIWebView, that shows an 'action' button up-top that - when tapped - scales the UIWebView and allows the user to perform some other actions. If, however, at the point of tapping this 'action' button, the user were entering some text on the webview, or using a picker to select an option from a drop-down list, then the webview gets scaled without dismissing the keyboard/picker. Apart from being ugly, this also obscures my main view and controls. So is there a way to make a UIWebView dismiss all associated input controls, such as keyboards/pickers, when asked to? I tried using [myWebView resignFirstResponder] but that didn't work. Any ideas? Thanks.

• NDIS or TDI for packet redirection to a local proxy

  I need to develop a transparent filter to redirect outgoing HTTP packets to a local proxy, to do transparent content filtering. Which is the best technology to do it, TDI or NDIS IM? My main constraint is to avoid conflicts with antivirus software, which also do some kind of packet redirection to inspect HTTP content (I don't know whether antivirus programs use TDI, NDIS IM, or both). Rather than writing the driver myself, actually, I'm also considering two commercial SDKs for packet filtering/modification: one uses a TDI driver while the other uses a NDIS IM driver, so that's the origin of my question (I was only aware of NDIS IM, before looking at the two SDKs).
