• App only spawns one thread

  I have what I thought was a thread-friendly app, and after doing some output I've concluded that of the 15 threads I am attempting to run, only one does. I have if __name__ == "__main__": fhf = FileHandlerFactory() tweet_manager = TweetManager("C:/Documents and Settings/Administrator/My Documents/My Dropbox/workspace/trie/Tweet Search Engine/data/partitioned_raw_tweets/raw_tweets.txt.001") start = time.time() for i in range(15): Indexer(tweet_manager, fhf).start() Then in my thread-entry point, I do def run(self): print(threading.current_thread()) self.index() That results in this: <Indexer(Thread-3, started 1168)> So of 15 threads that I thought were running, I'm only running one. • Regexp to extract sources from different video embeds

  My SMF forum contains posts with video and I want to extract them to show on the Wordpress main page. My current regexp (thanks to SO!) extracts the url of the videos, which I embed using AutoEmbed. Everything works up until a post looks like this: <embed height="600" width="600" allowscriptaccess="never" quality="high" loop="true" play="true" src="http://mmavlog.net/embed/player.swf?file=http://video.ufc.tv/CSG/UFC113/20100507_ufc113_weigh_in_400k.flv" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"> Here is my current regexp: $regexp = "/\b(?:(?:https?|ftp):\/\/|www\.)[-a-z0-9+&@#\/%?=~_|!:,.;]*[-a-z0-9+&@#\/%=~_|]/i"; Since the posts can contain <embed> or <object> I realize that looking for the url by the "http" might be inaccurate. How can I use the regexp to look for "src=" for <embed> and "data=" for <object>?

  Hi, I see C books that use the same variable names in the function definition, calling function and declaration. Others use the same variable names in the calling function and in the declaration/prototype but a different one in the definition as in: void blabla(int something); //prototype blabla(something) // calling function inside main after something has been initialized to int void blabla(int something_else) //definition I have two questions: What convention is best to use in C?; Does the convention apply regardless whether a value is being passed "by-value" or if it's being passed by a pointer?   Hi. I'm developing iphone app with UITabBarController as main view. Every ViewController in each tab is UINavigationController which must have a same button in leftBarButtonItem. Can I inherit some class from UINavigationController and override it's -(id) initWithRootViewController:(UIViewController *)rootViewController method to realize this ? I made something like this. • Adding HTML to the DOM through the client.

  Hi all Just wanted your views on the most efficient way to render content on demand, the reason this has come to light is that I'm maintaining a AA compliant website and we recently added video to it, and one of the techniques to avoid invalidation was to add the HTML for the video to the DOM after the page has loaded - which is fine and working ok. However, I found 2 possible techniques and I would appreciate some views, the one I'm currently using is an AJAX call that returns the HTML, the other technique is a hidden field that contains the HTML - I'm presently using the former. The main reason I'm asking the question is because there may be times when this particular control is also requested via an AJAX call, so I would end up with back-to-back AJAX calls, which seems a bit inefficient to me. I hope this makes sense, are there any better techniques to achieve this? Am I worrying too much over the consecutive AJAX calls? Thanks

However I still can't understand why I got the double abet value instead of what I got when I ran it on Cygwin, Ubuntu and iDeneb which is roughly -1950228512509697486020297654959439872418023994430148306244153100897726713609 013030397828640261329800797420159101801613476402327600937901161313172717568.0 00000 can be written 2.725000e+02 Any ideas?

• Best way to parse command line arguments in C#

  When building console applications that take parameters, you can use the arguments passed to Main(string[] args). In the past I've simply indexed/looped that array and done a few regular expressions to extract the values. However, when the commands get more complicated, the parsing can get pretty ugly. More recently, I built the world's simplest Backus-Naur Form parser in C# to parse the arguments. It does the job, but it also feels like overkill. So I'm interested in: Libraries that you use Patterns that you use Assume the commands always adhere to common standards such as answered here.

• MDB2 With SQL Express 2008

  Hi all, So basically here's my problem. I'm looking for a solution to allow us to connect with SQL Express 2008, while still using MDB2 as our database abstraction layer. I need something like this, mainly because we still need to be able to use MySQL and Postgres (and ORMs seem to be not an option at this point in time). Preferably, there would be a solution that works for both PHP5.2 and PHP5.3. At first I went down the php_mysql extension road... it seems, though, as though that is not available in PHP 5.3. php_pdo_mssql doesn't seem to be usable with MDB2, so that seems to be out. Finally, there's the MS developed 'SQLSRV' extension, and while it seems as though there was work on a MDB2 'extension' for it at one point, it doesn't seem to have ever made it into the main branch. Please... does anyone have any solutions for me?

• Integrate IPhone Safari like view in Android?

  The main concept goes like this. I have four listviews with its own data loaded at the same time. Only one listview will be visible to the user. Now, when the user presses a button, not only the current listview but also other three listviews should be minimized and then user can just scroll just as in Gallery and select the listview that one wants to open. • How can I check the version of an assembly then delete the assembly?

  I am using the FileVersionInfo to retrieve the version of a .Net assembly. Then, I want to immediately delete the file. Unfortunately after I call GetVersionInfo, any attempt to delete the file results in an error “…in use by another process…” Is there another technique to determine the version that does not lock the file? Or, is it possible to ensure the lock is released after calling GetVersionInfo?   From my readings, when you execute a command as follows: java -jar foo.jar Then the main classpath is ignored and the classpath is taken from the manifest file. Further, the classpath declared on the command line is also ignored. So in: java -classpath /usr/local/jar/foobar.jar -jar foo.jar /usr/local/jar/foobar.jar is ignored. Lastly, I have read that the manifest file can only only contain relative paths, within the jar file. So, how do you include absolute paths to external jars, that are present on the system, but not in the jar file being executed?

• iPhone: UIImageView not showing images

  Hello, I've got UIImageView drawn in my nib-file and it's connected to a imageView iboutlet. I can load single pictures which will show up very nicely, but when it comes to drawing many images separately as like an animation, images won't show. I've got drawImage() function which takes NSData-objects(image data) and draws it to a screen(imageView). Main function has got for loop which loops 300 times as quickly as it can and each time it calls that drawImage function and passes different image data to it. Sometimes when I execute this code, last picture from that "animation" shows up, sometimes not at all. Maybe I need to schedule enough time for imageView so that the image can be shown? Hope someone has some clues. Thanks in advance!

  I am writing a library that generates derived classes of abstract classes dynamically at runtime. The constructor of the derived class needs a MethodInfo of the base class constructor so that it can invoke it. However, for some reason Type.GetConstructor() returns null. • How can I stop my application?

  I have the main thread from which I start a window using invokeLater. I run my application from command line. So, when application is running I see the window and my command line is "blocked" by the application. I can stop the application either by closing the window (as a result the command line is unblocked) or by typing Ctrl-C in the command line (as a result the window disappear). I wanted to be able to stop the application by clicking on a button in the window of the application. I used setVisible(false) for that. But in this way I can achieve the goal only partially. My window really disappear but the command line is still blocked. So, the software is still running. Well, I assume it's because some other threads are still running. But how can I easily close all these threads (like I do by closing the window of the application manually).

• Iphone sdk - please help , 1 view takes me 45 minutes to do :(

  Hey, I've been working on a Cook Book App but each view ( or recipie page) takes about 45 minutes to complete so as you can imagine its taking forever. The problem is that I have to manually: Set up a gradient image for the back ground (Somtimes I have to add a few image backgrounds to fit the view as I often use a scroll view, not sure how this could be automated?) Put an image behind the titles "Recipe name" , "Time needed" and an image to go behind the recipie instructions ( again I might need a few of these depending on how long the description is. Creating view controllers for main sections such as "Breakfast" and "Lunch" and then I need to manually create view controllers to go in these sections. Theres got to be a way to set up a template for this? Thanks for reading all of this.
