    I'm looking for a netbook to do some dotnet development. Is there a recommended brand/configuration. I'm looking for reasonably good performance. Here are some of my requirements: Win 7 ultimate MS Office VS 2008 and VS 2010 when it's out CodeRush good size keyboard without having to do a Fn+Key for Insert, Home, End and Del keys Preferably Core 2 Duo Decent battery life P.S. The config of the netbook handed out at PDC seems pretty awesome.

    UPDATE: Ok, I didn't formulate a good Q to be answered. I still struggle with heroku being on -07:00 UTC and I at +02:200 UTC. Q: How do I get the log written in the correct Time.zone ? The 9 hours difference, heroku (us west) - norway, is distracting to work with. I get this in my production.log (using heroku logs): Processing ProductionController#create to xml (for 81.26.51.35 at 2010-04-28 23:00:12) [POST] How do I get it to write 2010-04-29 08:00:12 +02:00 GMT ? Note that I'm running at heroku and cannot set the server time myself, as one could do at your amazon EC2 servers. I truly don't care what the local time of the server is, it's giving me loads of trouble due to extensive use of Time.now. Am I misunderstanding anything fundamental here?

  • Is it possible to port a Windows RT app to a Windows Phone app?

    Just recently released an application to the Windows Store, and I'm wondering if it is possible to "downgrade" it to Windows Phone 7.1 - until Windows Phone 8 will arrive. The real problem is with the async stuff, I've found the "Async Targeting Pack", but it requires Visual Studio 2012; however VS2012 doesn't work with the Phone SDK 7.0, 7.1. I'm not in the mood to install old and ugly Visual Studio 2010 on my brand new Windows 8 machine :) Does anyone know a workaround?

  • trouble with utf-8 chars & apache2 rewrite rules

    I see the post http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2565864/validating-utf-8-in-htaccess-rewrite-rule and I think that is great, but a more fundamental problem I am having first: I needed to expand to handle utf-8 chars for query string parameters, names of directories, files, and used in displays to users etc. I configured my Apache with DefaultCharset utf-8 and also my php if that matters. My original rewrite rule filtered everything except regular A-Za-z and underscore and hyphen. and it worked. Anything else would give you a 404 (which is what I want!) Now, however it seems that everything matches, including stuff I don't want, however, although it seems to match it doesn't go in the query string unless it is a regular A-Za-z_- character string. I find this confusing, because the rule says put whatever you matched into the query string: Here is the original rule: RewriteRule ^/puzzle/([A-Za-z_-]+)$ /puzzle.php?g=$1 [NC] and here is the revised rule: RewriteRule ^/puzzle/(\w+)$ /puzzle.php?g=$1 [NC] I made the change because somewhere I read that \w matches ALL the alpha chars where as A-Zetc. only matches the ones without accents and stuff. It doesn't seem to matter which of those rules I use: Here is what happens: In the application I have this: echo $_GET['g']; If I feed it a url like http://mydomain.com/puzzle/USA it echoes out "USA" and works fine. If I feed it a url like http://mydomain.com/puzzle/México it echoes nothing for that and warns me that index g is not defined and of course doesn't get resources for Mexico. if I feed it a url like http://mydomain.com/puzzle/fuzzle/buzzle/j.qle it does the same thing. This last case should be a 404! And it does this no matter which of the above rules I use. I configured a rewrite log RewriteLogLevel 5 RewriteLog /opt/local/apache2/logs/puzzles.httpd.rewrite but it is empty. Here is from the regular access log (it gives a status of 200) [26/May/2010:11:21:42 -0700] "GET /puzzle/M%C3%A9xico HTTP/1.1" 200 342 [26/May/2010:11:21:54 -0700] "GET /puzzle/M/l.foo HTTP/1.1" 200 342 What can I do to get these $%#$@(*#@!!! characters but not slash, dot or other non-alpha into my program, and once there, will it decode them correctly??? Would posix char classes work any better? Is there anything else I need to configure?

I also have installed Windows Phone Developer Tools CTP that includes Visual Studio 2010 Express for Windows Phone CTP. I have noticed that when i start a new project in VS2008 all the Silverlight templates are missing. Any tip how to get them? Thanx !

    I would like to have fuzzy looking border around my Canvas control. Basically, I am creating a Print Preview screen, and I want it to look almost exactly like the one in Word 2010. In this, there is a thin gray line, a thin orange line and then a fuzzy gradient around the outside of the page. Check it out and you will see what I mean. Can anyone tell me how I can do this with my Canvas control?

  • How to get MySite navigation bar to show up on a sub-site that is also using the mysite.master page

    Hi, We have a created a subsite to the SharePoint 2010 Mysite (used blank site) called "home". This site uses the mysite.master master page. The problem is the top link (navigation) bar from MySite is not showing up on the subsite... Any ideas? If I open the home site in Share Point Designer - the navigation bar does show up... But not in the browser... Any help would be greatly appreciated! Terry

    I Have a canvas and would like to place silverlight elements within that canvas relative to each. For example, I have an element (A) at canvas.top="0" canvas.left="5". I would like to place all elements proceeding that one relative to its position. So if i move A to canvas.top="10" canvas.left="15" all other elements would reposition themselves.     I keep getting 401 when trying to login via Oauth with Twitter. I'm using twitter_oauth-0.3.3 with oauth-0.3.6 in rails It used to work perfectly some time ago, so after some digging, I realised it might have something to do with my timezone. In the headers of the Twitter response, one of them is: date: - Sun, 11 Apr 2010 16:53:34 GMT Even though the time is actually 17:53:34 BST I'm assuming the request is signed using BST time, and so it fails. Anyone had this problem / found a fix for it?

  • CSS Child selectors in IE7 tables

    I'm trying to use the CSS child selector in IE7, and it doesn't seem to work. I have nested tables. My outer table has a class name "mytable", and I want the td's of the outer table to show borders. I don't want the inner table td's to have borders. I think I should be able to have CSS that looks like this: .mytable { border-style: solid } .mytable>tr>td { border-style: solid } But the second line seems to have no effect. If I change the second line to make it less specific, it applies to all the td's - I see too many borders. td { border-style: solid } So I think it really is just an issue with the selectors. Pages like this suggest that IE7 should be able to do what I want. Am I doing something silly?     I have a CSV dump from another DB that looks like this (id, name, notes): 1001,John Smith,15 Main Street 1002,Jane Smith,"2010 Rockliffe Dr. Pleasantville, IL USA" 1003,Bill Karr,2820 West Ave. The last field may contain carriage returns and commas, in which case it is surrounded by double quotes. I use this code to import CSV into my table: BULK INSERT CSVTest FROM 'c:\csvfile.csv' WITH ( FIELDTERMINATOR = ',', ROWTERMINATOR = '\n' ) SQL Server 2005 bulk insert cannot figure out that carriage returns inside quotes are not row terminators. How to overcome?
