  • Why doesn't list.get(0).equals(null) work?

    - by Jessy
    The first index is set to null (empty), but it doesn't print the right output, why? //set the first index as null and the rest as "High" String a []= {null,"High","High","High","High","High"}; //add array to arraylist ArrayList<Object> choice = new ArrayList<Object>(Arrays.asList(a)); for(int i=0; i<choice.size(); i++){ if(i==0){ if(choice.get(0).equals(null)) System.out.println("I am empty"); //it doesn't print this output } }

  • Compiler error when using abstract types

    - by Dylan
    I'm trying to implement a "protocol helper" trait that is responsible for matching up Prompts and Responses. The eventual goal is to have an object that defines the various Prompt and Response classes as subclasses of a sealed trait, then have a class that mixes in the ProtocolSupport trait for that Protocol object. The problem is that my current approach won't compile, even though I'm fairly sure it should. Here's a distilled version of what I've got: trait Protocol { type Response type Prompt <: BasePrompt trait BasePrompt { type Data def validate(response: Response): Validated[Data] } } trait ProtocolSupport[P <: Protocol] { def foo(prompt: P#Prompt, response: P#Response) = { // compiler error prompt.validate(response) } } The compiler doesn't like the response as an argument to prompt.validate: [error] found : response.type (with underlying type P#Response) [error] required: _4.Response where val _4: P [error] prompt.validate(response) [error] ^ This isn't very helpful.. it seems to say that it wants a P.Response but that's exactly what I'm giving it, so what's the problem?

  • Call inner function of jQuery-Plugin-function?

    - by faileN
    Hello Everyone, I've written an jQuery-Plugin, which I want to use as Object. So I declared some functions within the plugin, which I want to call from any other location, just like an object with methods. Is that even possible? To keep it simple: (function( $ ){ $.fn.myPlugin = function(){ // Here I want methods... function foo() { // do something... } } })(jQuery); Then I want to call the inner function from outside the plugin like: $.myPlugin.foo(); But that doesn't seem to work. So is it even possible? Or are there any other solutions? I don't want to use an normal unrelated jQuery-Class for this purpose. Because this plugin should work together with some other jQuery-Plugins. Thank you

  • how to check if entity already exists in database before inserting in doctrine?

    - by fayer
    whenever i insert a entity that already exists in database (i have a unique constraint on email) i get an error message on the screen. so i want to check if it already exists, if not i insert it. at the moment it looks like this: $q = Doctrine_Query::create() ->from('User u') ->where('u.email = ?', $email); $object = $q->fetchOne(); if( ! is_object($object)) { $user = new User(); $user-email = $email; $user->save(); } i wonder, if there an easier way to do this? thanks

  • Is it possible to use the values method for a HashMap if the values are ArrayLists?

    - by Denman
    I'm stuck trying to get something to work in an assignment. I have a HashMap<Integer, ArrayList<Object>> called sharedLocks and I want to check whether a certain value can be found in any ArrayList in the HashMap. The following code obviously wouldn't work because Object[] can't be cast to ArrayList[], but it is a demonstration of the general functionality that I want. ArrayList[] values = (ArrayList[]) sharedLocks.values().toArray(); boolean valueExists = false; for (int i = 0; i < values.length; i++) { if (values[i].contains(accessedObject)) { valueExists = true; } } Is there a way for me to check every ArrayList in the HashMap for a certain value? I'm not sure how to use the values method for HashMaps in this case. Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Noob question: Draw a quad parallel to the view.

    - by Jack
    Hi all, ok what I want to do is to draw a quad in the scene that lays on a plane parallel to the view. So it should appear flat. More in particular, I think I didn't get very well how the mechanism of gluLookAt works in comparison with the functions glTranslate and glRotate: If I position the view "manually" using the functions glTranslate and glRotate whenever I draw an object its position is relative to the current view. And I understand that this is due to the transformation matrix in the stack. However when I use the gluLookAt that should automatically set the view, the coordinates of the object I want to draw must be "absolute" to show it properly. Thanks in advance.

  • Can ANYONE get _lockroot to work?

    - by webfac
    Hi Guys, I have the following code which ultimately loads a SWF into movieclip 'myloader' using a movie clip loader, code as follows: var myload:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader(); var listener:Object = new Object(); myload.addListener(listener); listener.onLoadStart = function(){ animcontainer.myloader._lockroot = true; trace("Started"); } listener.onLoadInit = function(){ animcontainer.myloader._lockroot = true; trace("finished and locked"); } listener.onLoadComplete = function(){ animcontainer.myloader._lockroot = true; } myload.loadClip(path, animcontainer.myloader); The swf I am loading has pause, rewind and play buttons that must be referencing _root as they work fine when played alone. Upon loading them into myloader they no longer work. Based on the above code surely the myloader clip should be locking as _root after the load is complete? I have Googled myself dry on this one, no luck. ANY help will be much appreciated, Thanks.

  • asp.net C# variable as Image1.ImageUrl property

    - by ModS
    I would like to Click "buttonImage1" and have that store "photos/Image1.jpg" into a var called Photo. then have ButtonImage2.ImageUrl = (Photo). I am using an UpdatePanel to refresh the area with the images so the only problem is actually setting the variable correctly and then using it correctly. Reworded: how can I store a path to an image in a variable then set it correctly as a image's URL path? protected void Button2_Click(object sender, ImageClickEventArgs e) { Evt = ("~/events/ev2.jpg"); } protected void Image2_Click(object sender, ImageClickEventArgs e) { Image1.ImageUrl = (Evt); }

  • Java generic function for performing calculations on integer, on double?

    - by Daniel
    Is this possible? Surely if you passed in a double, any sort of function implementation code which casts an object to an Integer would not be able to work unless the cast 'Integer' was specifically used? I have a function like: public static void increment(Object o){ Integer one = (Integer)o; system.out.println(one++); } I cant see how this could be made generic for a double? I tried public static <E> void increment(E obj){ E one = (E)o; system.out.println(one++); } but it didn't like it?

  • Accessing Controls Values Before Finishing Page_Load

    - by userk
    Hi. I'm with a problem and want to know if someone can help me. I'm creating a table with some controls and I want to save all control values in every postback. As the controls are just defined after the page_load, I can't solve my problem this way: object o; protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { o = createObject(); Create_Table(); if (Page.IsPostBack) Save_Data(); } I thought I could execute Save_Data() at the begining of every postback event, but I think that should exist a better way to solve my problem. Thanks.

  • Why is this NaN to javascript?

    - by MJB
    I have this object printed with console.log Array[1] 0: Object address: "blablabalbala" datatype: "Location" icon: "cafetaria" id: "/mensa/wo_mensa1_turm.std.php" kind: "Mensa" lat: 50.777016 lon: 6.080348 sortkey: "zeltmensa, forum cafete" stationId: "/mensa/wo_mensa1_turm.std.php" title: "Zeltmensa, Forum Cafete" type: "Mensa" But console.log("nav to: "+data[0].lat+" "+data[0].lon); gives me undefined undefined, and at another point NaN NaN.. I don't understand this. It also doesn't let me use any other attributes like data[0].addresse, which returns undefined aswell. Thanks for help.

  • Is there a "concise" way to do namespacing in JavaScript?

    - by olliej
    I've frequently encountered sites that put all of their javascript inside a "namespace" structure along the lines of namespaces = { com : { example: { example.com's data} } But setting this up safely with respect to other namespaced frameworks seems to require a relatively hefty amount of code (defined as 2 lines). I was wondering whether anyone knows of a concise way to do this? and whether there's a relatively standard/consistent way to structure it? eg. is the "com" namespace directly attached to the global object, or is it attached through a namespace object? [Edit: whoops, obviously {com = { ... } } wouldn't accomplish anything close to what i intended, thanks to Shog9 for pointing that out. :D]

  • Binding one dependency property to another

    - by Gregory Dodd
    I have a custom Tab Control that I have created, but I am having an issue. I have an Editable TextBox as part of the custom TabControl View. <Controls:EditableTextControl x:Name="PageTypeName" Style="{StaticResource ResourceKey={x:Type Controls:EditableTextControl}}" Grid.Row="0" TabIndex="0" Uid="0" AutomationProperties.AutomationId="PageTypeNameTextBox" AutomationProperties.Name="PageTypeName" Visibility="{Binding ElementName=PageTabControl,Path=ShowPageType}"> <Controls:EditableTextControl.ContextMenu> <ContextMenu x:Name="TabContextMenu"> <MenuItem Header="Rename Page Type" Command="{Binding Path=PlacementTarget.EnterEditMode, RelativeSource={RelativeSource AncestorType=ContextMenu}}" AutomationProperties.AutomationId="RenamePageTypeMenuItem" AutomationProperties.Name="RenamePageType"/> <MenuItem Header="Delete Page Type" Command="{Binding Path=PageTypeDeletedCommand}" AutomationProperties.AutomationId="DeletePageTypeMenuItem" AutomationProperties.Name="DeletePageType"/> </ContextMenu> </Controls:EditableTextControl.ContextMenu> <Controls:EditableTextControl.Content> <!--<Binding Path="CurrentPageTypeViewModel.Name" Mode="TwoWay"/>--> <Binding ElementName="PageTabControl" Path="CurrentPageTypeName" Mode ="TwoWay"/> </Controls:EditableTextControl.Content> </Controls:EditableTextControl> In the Content section I am binding to a Dependency Prop called CurrentPageTypeName. This Depedency prop is part of this custom Tab Control. public static DependencyProperty CurrentPageTypeNameProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("CurrentPageTypeName", typeof(object), typeof(TabControlView)); public object CurrentPageTypeName { get { return GetValue(CurrentPageTypeNameProperty) as object; } set { SetValue(CurrentPageTypeNameProperty, value); } } In another view, where I am using the custom TabControl I then bind my property, with the actual name value, to CurrentPageTypeName property as seen below: <Views:TabControlView Grid.Row="0" Name="RunPageTabControl" TabItemsSource="{Binding RunPageTypeViewModels}" SelectedTab="{Binding Converter={StaticResource debugConverter}}" CurrentPageTypeName="{Binding Path=RunPageName, Mode=TwoWay}" TabContentTemplateSelector="{StaticResource tabItemTemplateSelector}" SelectedIndex="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType={x:Type UserControl}}, Path=DataContext.SelectedTabIndex}" ShowPageType="Hidden" > <!--<Views:TabControlView.TabContentTemplate> <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type ViewModels:RunPageTypeViewModel}"> <RunViews:RunPageTypeView/> </DataTemplate> </Views:TabControlView.TabContentTemplate>--> </Views:TabControlView> My problem is that nothing seems to be happening. It is grabbing its Content from the Itemsource, and not from my chained Dependency props. Is what I am trying even possible? If so, what have I done wrong. Thanks for looking.

  • the way to get a value from a hidden type correctly

    - by kawtousse
    hey, in a html table i construct in each row an edit buttton like the following: retour.append("<input type=\"hidden\" id=\"id_"+nomTab+"_"+compteur+"\" value=\""+object.getIdDailyTimeSheet()+"\" name=\"hd_"+compteur+"\" />"); this is the hidden type then i do the following: retour.append("<button id=edit name=edit type=button onClick= editarow()>"); retour.append("<img src=edit.gif />"); retour.append("</button>"); retour.append("</td>"); here i am using the hidden type to differenciate between my rows with it. Now I am trying to get the parameter called here: value=\""+object.getIdDailyTimeSheet() in my servlet to do an update query based on the IdDailyTimeSheet. • Any way to stringify a variable id / symbol in Python?

    - by otz
    I'm wondering if it is possible at all in python to stringify variable id/symbol -- that is, a function that behaves as follows: >>> symbol = 'whatever' >>> symbol_name(symbol) 'symbol' Now, it is easy to do it on a function or a class (if it is a direct reference to the object): >>> def fn(): pass >>> fn.func_name 'fn' But I'm looking for a general method that works on all cases, even for indirect object references. I've thought of somehow using id(var), but no luck yet. Is there any way to do it?

  • Can a method return an NSRange?

    - by Dan Donaldson
    I have a method that returns an NSRange. When I call this method from outside the class I get a compile error. NSRange tmpRange; tmpRange = [phrase rangeInString:searchString forString:theLetter goingForward:YES]; return tmpRange.location == -1; in the .h file: #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> @interface Phrase : NSObject { } - (NSRange) rangeInString:(NSString *) tgt forString:(NSString *) find goingForward:(BOOL) fwd; @end This method is called within the Phrase object by other methods without problems. The compiler says 'incompatible types in assignment'. Can anyone explain this to me? I assume it has to do with returning an NSRange/struct type value generated outside the object, but I don't know why it works in one place and not the other.

  • Java: set-size List issue UnsupportedOperationException thrown

    - by tuckster
    I am having a problem changing a List that has a set-size in Java. I understand that I can't add or remove from this list but why can't I use set? When I use set the UnsupportedOperationException is thrown as well as when I use add and remove which is expected. set public Object set(int index, Object element) Replaces the element at the specified position in this list with the specified element (optional operation). I understand its an optional operation its just that want to replace that one element of the list with another element. Is there any way I can do this?

  • living column in instruments

    - by dubbeat
    In the context of allocations what exactly does the living column mean? Does it mean the number of times an object was created or does it mean how many instances of an object there is? I ask because I'm testing going in and out of a view. When I enter the view I create a class "myClass". When I exit the view I nil "myClass" and release it. If I go in and out of the view 6 times for example the living column in instruments for "myClass" says 6. Is this normal or is it not being released properly?

  • Why does obj.getBounds().height give a larger height than obj.height?

    - by TC
    I'm new to Flash and ActionScript, but managing quite nicely. One thing that is continuously getting in my way are the width and height properties of DisplayObject(Container)s. I'm finally starting to get my head around them and learned that the width and height of a Sprite are determined solely by their contents for example. I do not understand the following though: I've got a Sprite that I add a bunch of Buttons to. The buttons all have a height of 30 and an y of 0. As such, I'd expect the height of the containing Sprite to be 30. Surprisingly, the height is 100. The Adobe documentation of the height property of a DisplayObject states: Indicates the height of the display object, in pixels. The height is calculated based on the bounds of the content of the display object. Apparently, the 'bounds' of the object are important. So I went ahead and wrote this little test in the Sprite that contains the Buttons: for (var i:int = 0; i < numChildren; ++i) { trace("Y: " + getChildAt(i).y + " H: " + getChildAt(i).height); trace("BOUNDS H: " + getChildAt(i).getBounds(this).height); } trace("SCALEY: " + scaleY + " TOTAL HEIGHT: " + height); This code iterates through all the objects that are added to its display list and shows their y, height and getBounds().height values. Surprisingly, the output is: Y: 0 H: 30 BOUNDS H: 100 ... (5x) SCALEY: 1 TOTAL HEIGHT: 100 This shows that the bounds of the buttons are actually larger than their height (and the height that they appear to be, visually). I have no clue why this is the case however. So my questions are: Why are the bounds of my buttons larger than their height? How can I set the bounds of my buttons so that my Sprite isn't larger than I'd expect it to be based on the position and size of the objects it contains? By the way, the buttons are created as follows: var control:Button = new Button(); control.setSize(90, 30); addChild(control);

  • fields_for to stop pluralizing.

    - by Dmitriy Likhten
    I have a fields_for tag, where I specify the prefix (lets say for some good reasons), and this is supposed to represent a one-to-one relationship. I am trying to represent a relationship widget has_many thingamagigs thingamagig has_one whatchamacallit The field_for code is: fields_for "widgt[thingamagigs_attributes][][whatchamacallit_attributes]", thingamagig.whatchamacallit do |x| which generates names (wrongly): widget[thingamagigs_attributes][][whatchamacallit_attributes][][value] The better solution would be t.fields_for :whatchamacallit do |x| where t = fields_for the thingamagig... However if I do that, the following names are generated widgt[thingamagigs_attributes][whatchamacallit_attributes][] which is completely wrong as all other fields for a thingamagig is... widgt[thingamagigs_attributes][][name] So in all cases I am screwed. The original field_for using a string cannot be used with accepts_nested_attributes_for :whatchamacallit since whatchamacallit is a singular relationship and an object is expected not an array. The second fields_for will simply not work because rails cannot parse the params object correctly. Is there a way to tell the first forms_for to not add the [] after [whatchamacallit_attributes] in all field names?

  • Returning objects with dynamic memory

    - by Caulibrot
    I'm having trouble figuring out a way to return an object (declared locally within the function) which has dynamic memory attached to it. The problem is the destructor, which runs and deletes the dynamic memory when the object goes out of scope, i.e. when I return it and want to use the data in the memory that has been deleted! I'm doing this for an overloaded addition operator. I'm trying to do something like: MyObj operator+( const MyObj& x, const MyObj& y ) { MyObj z; // code to add x and y and store in dynamic memory of z return z; } My destructor is simply: MyObj::~MyObj() { delete [] ptr; } Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
