  Hi all, I have an application which takes live data from internet, I want to develop another application which reads data from the internet and writes it to an XML file (i.e. I want to save the state in an XML file). THE ONLY THING I NEED IS HOW TO WRITE THIS DATA IN AN XML FILE. FOR EXAMPLE say I have a combo box which takes top 10 fifa world cup watching sites, now I want to write this information (i.e. whatever the data this combo box takes as input into an xml file). I want the answer in flex only. And I don't want answer in AIR. Thankyou in advance.

• Android - Opening phone deletes app state

  Hey everyone, I'm writing an android application that maintains a lot of "state" data...some of it I can save in the form of onSaveInstanceState but some of it is just to complex to save in memory. My problem is that sliding the phone open destroys/recreates the app, and I lose all my application state in the process. The same thing happens with the "back" button, but I overloaded that function on my way. Is there any way to overload the phone opening to prevent it from happening? Thanks in advance.

• Can I use the emacs keyboard macro counter as a command prefix?

  I'm working on a project in emacs where I'd like to use a keyboard macro that changes slightly with each iteration. When I saw the keyboard macro counter in the manual, that looked like exactly what I needed - but as far as I can tell, that inserts an incrementing number into the current buffer. I want to use an incrementing number as a prefix to another command. For example, instead of inserting 3 into the buffer on the third execution of the macro, I'd like to be able to execute C-u 3 M-x my-command, followed by C-u 4 M-x my-command on the next iteration. Is there way to create a keyboard macro that does this? My specific task is "zipping" two blocks of text in the same buffer together, but even if there's an alternative way to do that specific thing, it'd be good to know the answer to the general question.

• How do I tell gdb how long my zero-length array is?

  Slightly oxymoronic title! Bonus points for Xcode answer but it's a gdb question. If I have a standard, statically sized array gdb will print all its elements [and Xcode will let me browse through it] but if I have a zero length array, it won't, because it doesn't know. Obviously I can print the array indexes one by one, but I'd like a dump of the whole thing. How do I tell gdb how much space I have allocated for the array to allow it to print the array (or to allow Xcode to view the array). Is it even possible?

  I'm attempting to send a message to a remote private queue from an error queue with powershell. The code I use looks like this: $msg = $src_q.Peek() $msg.Label = GetLabelWithoutFailedQueue($msg) $msg.UseDeadLetterQueue = $true $msg.UseTracing = $true $msg.AcknowledgeType = [System.Messaging.AcknowledgeTypes]::NegativeReceive $msg.TimeToBeReceived = [System.TimeSpan]::FromSeconds(10) $msg.TimeToReachQueue = [System.TimeSpan]::FromSeconds(10) $tx = new-object System.Messaging.MessageQueueTransaction $tx.Begin() $dest_q.Send($msg, $tx) $tx.Commit() The message keeps on appearing on the transactional dead letter queue with the class: "The time-to-reach-queue has elapsed." Anyone's got any idea what could trigger such an error? The queue definitely exists- I do manage to peek it. Also, the reason I get the message from the error queue by peeking is just for testing purposes; I have tried doing the same thing with Receive and the result is the same.

  I have a control with a inner TextBox. I want to make a direct relationship between the Text property of the UserControl and the Text property of the TextBox. The first thing I realized is that Text was not being displayed in the Properties of the UserControl. Then I added the Browsable(true) attribute. [Browsable(true)] public override string Text { get { return m_textBox.Text; } set { m_textBox.Text = value; } } Now, the text will be shown for a while, but then is deleted. This is because the information is not written within the xxxx.Designer.cs. How can this behviour be changed?

• Spring / Hibernate project with Tomcat and JQuery.

  Hi, I have a Dynamic Web Project that implements Spring and Hibernate using a Tomcat Server (v6). I'm lauching Tomcat with my Eclipse Galileo and I'm not getting any errors in the console but Tomcat is rendering my webpages randomly. The page just keep loading but without displaying anything, there's nothing on the console either. When I go in debug mode, it goes throught the right steps, everything seems alright. When I display the source code on the web browser (Firefox latest build) it shows me the right code that is needed to display the page I called. What am I not getting here? Plus when I stop Tomcat, it renders a part of the page. I'm wondering if JQuery could be the problem? The thing is that it's a collaborative project and that the others managed to run the web application in the most alright way. Please, share your experience with me.

  Hello, I have 40 points with (x, y, z) coordinate in my iPhone app. For now I just NSLog them. But I'd like to display them in... 3D! How can I do that? Do I have to use openGL ES? • Can I Select and Update at the same time?

  This is an over-simplified explanation of what I'm working on. I have a table with status column. Multiple instances of the application will pull the contents of the first row with a status of NEW, update the status to WORKING and then go to work on the contents. It's easy enough to do this with two database calls; first the SELECT then the UPDATE. But I want to do it all in one call so that another instance of the application doesn't pull the same row. Sort of like a SELECT_AND_UPDATE thing. Is a stored procedure the best way to go?

  Hi, I'm working on a quite big magento: it will have 50 different shops (1 magento install, 1 admin to rule them all) for start, this number is expected to raise in the future, and a catalog of more than 1k products. This catalog will be shared by all shops. I'm concerned about the server requirements I need for this to run smoothly. So far this is what I've found to get the most of it: Caching: using magento's cache with APC, MySQL's querys Images sprite in the theme use FastCGI instead of mod_php database clustering: I don't think it will be necesary for 1k products, what do you think? using Zend Server Are there other thing I can do in order to improve magento's performance? • change svn message editor

  So my co-worker felt it necessary to go onto my development box and do some code changes, then submit his work to subversion. I never set the commit message editor, and all of a sudden, one day I forgot to add the -m handle and apparently he set the default editor to emacs. Being that I don't know the first thing about emacs and prefer vim myself, how do I go about changing the default editor for svn commands to vim after it's already been set. I deleted the .subversion directory under the home directory, and it still prompts me.

  I've got two (or more) arrays with 12 integers in each (corresponding to values for each month). All I want is to add them together so that I've got a single array with summed values for each month. Here's an example with three values: [1,2,3] and [4,5,6] = [5,7,9] The best I could come up with was: [[1,2,3],[4,5,6]].transpose.map{|arr| arr.inject{|sum, element| sum+element}} #=> [5,7,9] Is there a better way of doing this? It just seems such a basic thing to want to do.

(The reason I need to do this in case you are wondering is that I am incorporating my project into a larger software system that uses makefiles to build, and I want to be able to build the whole thing using the makefiles.)   I'm trying to use the Search command in Vim: :Rs/F/T/X R = range F = text to find T = text to replace with X = options But, when I want to search for the "." (dot character) I'm getting some problems. The task: Replace all occurences of " ." (space dot) for "" (greater-than) So, first I tried this: :%s/ ./>/g But this changed me all the " ." (space ANY-CHARACTER) to the "" character. Then I remembered that the dot character is a special one, so I tried this: :%s/ \./>/g But vim threw me an error: E486 Can't find pattern " \." And finally I tried this crazy thing: :%s/" ."/>/g and this :%s/" \."/>/g But I got the same result: E486 Can't find pattern... So, how can I search for the dot character using the search command? PS: Sorry for my poor Enlish.

  Hey all, I'm pretty new to Javascript, so forgive me if this is a simple question. I'm trying to access the length of a set of checkboxes in a form using Javascript. However, I need to be able to change the "name" field of the checkboxes to check several different sets of them.   A while ago I worked on a MS-SQL project and I remember a "IS IN" thing. I tried it on a MySQL project and it did not work. Is there an equivalent? Workaround? Here is the full query I am trying to run: SELECT * FROM product_product, product_viewhistory, product_xref WHERE ( (product_viewhistory.productId = product_xref.product_id_1 AND product_xref.product_id_2 = product_product.id) OR (product_viewhistory.productId = product_xref.product_id_2 AND product_xref.product_id_1 = product_product.id) ) AND product_product.id IS IN (SELECT DISTINCT pvh.productId FROM product_viewhistory AS pvh WHERE pvh.cookieId = :cookieId ORDER BY pvh.viewTime DESC LIMIT 10) AND product_viewhistory.cookieId = :cookieId AND product_product.outofstock='N' ORDER BY product_xref.hits DESC LIMIT 10 It's pretty big ... but the part I am interested in is: AND product_product.id IS IN (SELECT DISTINCT pvh.productId FROM product_viewhistory AS pvh WHERE pvh.cookieId = :cookieId ORDER BY pvh.viewTime DESC LIMIT 10) Which basically says I want the products to be in the "top 10" of that sub-query. How would you achieve that with MySQL (while trying to be efficient)?
