• how change nginx temp & log folder or disable logging completely

  I'm running nginx 1.3.5 under windows seven, I need to execute nginx directly from a read-only media (CD or DVD), but when I want to run it, it fails with this error: nginx: [alert] could not open error log file: CreateFile() "logs/error.log" fail ed (5: Access is denied) 2012/08/28 13:52:46 [emerg] 5604#2864: CreateDirectory() "J:\nginx-1.3.5/temp/client_body_temp" failed (5: Access is denied) where J is my CD-ROM drive letter. I've changed nginx.conf to disable logging completely, but seems anyway it still tries to build a file named 'error.log' in '/logs' folder & some extra temporary contents in '/temp' folder at the startup, so I want to change 'logs' & 'temp' directory path to windows temp folder (%temp%), but I dont have any idea that how can I do it. Also I want to know why nginx still creates 'logs/error.log' after disableing error logging ?

• .xcodeproj does not get committed with XCode's SCM Tool

  I am using the SCM Tools embedded in XCode to manage my app's versioning. I have created an iPhone app and I have added/committed it to the Subversion server but the .xcodeproj file won't upload (all the class files, resources etc are there)! I don't even get the option to "Add to Repository". Sometimes it gets an "A" (add) next to it under the "SCM" column but still, the next time I commit changes or commit entire project it still doesn't upload and show up on the server. As a result my team can't get and run the project. Is there a way to so something (other than just use the terminal or Versions)? Thank you.

  Ever since installing Ubuntu 10.04 I've had issues getting things to auto-start. I have installed webmin and VirtualBox but every time I reboot I have to manually run: sudo /etc/init.d/webmin start sudo /etc/init.d/vboxdrv start I have run: sudo update-rc.d -f webmin remove and then hodge@hodge-fs:~$ sudo update-rc.d webmin defaults update-rc.d: warning: webmin start runlevel arguments (2 3 4 5) do not match LSB Default-Start values (2 3 5) Adding system startup for /etc/init.d/webmin ... /etc/rc0.d/K20webmin -> ../init.d/webmin /etc/rc1.d/K20webmin -> ../init.d/webmin /etc/rc6.d/K20webmin -> ../init.d/webmin /etc/rc2.d/S20webmin -> ../init.d/webmin /etc/rc3.d/S20webmin -> ../init.d/webmin /etc/rc4.d/S20webmin -> ../init.d/webmin /etc/rc5.d/S20webmin -> ../init.d/webmin But it they still refuse to start on boot. • Using TCPDF and FPDI with cake php

  Hi Guys, I have go TCPDF setup in my cake php install and am now trying to also use FPDI with it as i need to add a PDF to the start of the PDF that is being generated. WHen trying to do this i am using 3 classes XTCPDF which holds my header data FPDI - FPDI class TCPDF - TCPDF class and it is setup as so: XTCPDF extends FPDI FPDI extends TCPDF When i try and generate a PDF with this using commands from teh FPDI classs i get the following error: Fatal error: Cannot access protected property XTCPDF::$PDFVersion in C:\Program Files\XAMPP\xampp\htdocs\quote\app\vendors\fpdi\fpdi_pdf_parser.php on line 388 Im thinking this may be a scope problem but im not too sure, i have also tested by changing it around to not include XTCPDF class but the same error occurs, EDIT: The code that i am using that accesses the FPDI class is: $tcpdf->setSourceFile(APP.'webroot'.DS.'img'.DS.'pdf'.DS.'front_cover.pdf'); $frontCover = $tcpdf->importPage(1); $tcpdf->useTemplate($frontCover); Thanks in advance for any help :D

• Silverlight 4.0 question - synchronous calls to asmx web service

  Hi, I have Silverlight problem. I have to deal with fairly large legacy application that has some web services exposed (regular asmx, not wcf). What I need to do is to build Silverlight app that consumes those web services. Due to business logic I need to have the same web method to be called from Silverlight app synchronously. I was able to build web services consumption but only asynchronously because that would be default Silverlight behavior. Is there a way to make asynchronous calls synchronous in Silverlight? I looked here and googled around but came across only wcf examples. I would appreciate if somebody would get me a code example for regular asmx web service. I use Silverlight 4.0. Thanks!

  I would like to enable the openssl extension in php.ini. I uncommented the extension=php_openssl.dll restarted apache service, but it still doesn't works. In the apache error log I've found PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library 'C:/Program Files (x86)/mypath/php/ext\\php_openssl.dll' - The operating system cannot run %1.\r\n in Unknown on line 0 I tried to follow some tutorials which said that I have to copy ssleay32.dll and libeay32.dll to the windows/system32 directory, but it still doesn't works. Does anyone know how to install it properly?

• Is it possible to share a C struct in shared memory between apps compiled with different compilers?

  I realize that in general the C and C++ standards gives compiler writers a lot of latitude. But in particular it guarantees that POD types like C struct members have to be laid out in memory the same order that they're listed in the structs definition, and most compilers provide extensions letting you fix the alignment of members. So if you had a header that defined a struct and manually specified the alignment of its members, then compiled two apps with different compilers using the header, shouldn't one app be able to write an instance of the struct into shared memory and the other app be able to read it without errors? I am assuming though that the size of the types contained is consistent across two compilers on the same architecture (it has to be the same platform already since we're talking about shared memory). I realize that this is not always true for some types (e.g. long vs. long long in GCC and MSVC 64-bit) but nowadays there are uint16_t, uint32_t, etc. types, and float and double are specified by IEEE standards.

• "SC.EXE config" and dollar sign in service name

  Say I want to make Windows Service startup dependent on SQL Server. In my case service name for SQL Server is MSSQL$SQL11 (SQL11 is SQL Server instance name) However, when I issue this command: SC.EXE config MyService depend= MSSQL$SQL11 everything after the dollar sign is ignored. When I go to "Dependencies" tab in "Services" SQL Server is not listed. When I check matching registry key it becomes clear why: it only has MSSQL. At this point I have to edit registry by hand to change MSSQL to MSSQL$SQL11 and then everything works as expected. Putting quotes around MSSQL$SQL11 doesn't help. Is there a way to specify $ in the middle of the SC.EXE argument string?

  Hi, There is a couple of hours that I'm trying to set a tableView background image. My controller is a subclass of UITableViewController, and I simply wrote this lines of code in ViewDidLoad method. UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"home-portrait-iphone.png"]; UIImageView *imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:image]; self.tableView.backgroundView = imageView; Everything looks great on the simulator, I mean, I see my table and as background view, y can see the image. But when the app is running on the device (ipod touch), I get this error: Program received signal: “SIGABRT”. and the stack says: * -[UITableView setBackgroundView:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x812e00 Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '** -[UITableView setBackgroundView:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x812e00' and the exception is thrown in the assignment, a mean this line: self.tableView.backgroundView = imageView; any ideas? I want the URL to look like this: http://example.com/bart/school?page=2 and the rewritten URL to be: http://localhost:8080/app?user=bart&tag1=school&page=2 If possible, I would also like to be able to have more than one tag per user: http://example.com/bart/school/lisa?page=2 Would look like: http://localhost:8080/app?user=bart&tag1=school&tag2=lisa&page=2 I far as I can tell this is possible by using mod_rewrite but I can't seem to figure it out. Any help would be really appreciated!

• How can I create a hybrid Silverlight and aspx application

  Here is my scenerio.. We have an ASP.Net 2.x web site. We want to migrate it to Silverlight full frame application. However, there is no way we can go away in a corner and redo every web page in SL right off the bat. What I would like to do is build the chrome of the app (main page, dashboard, login, common system/config screens, main menu) in SL and be able to open existing .aspx pages in the main content SL frame. From what I see there is no way to do this. I thought the Webbrowser control in SL4 would be the answer, but apparently that only works if your app is run out of browser. So, what is my best recourse? It seems like I will have to create some type of .aspx page that hosts the .XAP and pass in the page I want it to load? How would you gurus approach this?

  Hi, I am trying to write a small app to connect and manipulate some data on an SQL 2008 Express database. The database is on my local machine but I can see it on the network. I am trying to use LINQ to SQL in my app. I am trying to connect to the database so I can add database model to use with LINQ but the problem is I can not see any databases inside the SQL Server, which is on my machine. I tried using Windows Auth and also tried SQL Server Auth with no luck. Can someone please assist me? What am I missing?

• Cocoa Memory Usage

  I'm trying to track down some peculiar memory behavior in my Cocoa desktop app. My app does a lot of image processing using NSImage and uploads those images to a website over HTTP using NSURLConnection. After uploading several hundred images (some very large), when I run Instrument I get no leaks. I've also run through MallocDebug and get no leaks. When I dig into object allocations using Instrument I get output like this: GeneralBlock-9437184, Net Bytes 9437184, # Net 1 GeneralBlock-192512, Net Bytes 2695168, # Net 14 and etc., for smaller sizes. When I look at these in detail, they're marked as being owned by 'Foundation' and created via NSConcreteMutableData initWithCapacity. During HTTP upload I'm creating a post body using NSMutableData, so I'm guessing these are buffers Cocoa is caching for me when I create the NSMutableData objects. Is there a way to force Cocoa to free these? I'm 90% positive I'm releasing correctly (and Instruments and MallocDebug seem to confirm this), but I think Cocoa is keeping these around for perf reasons since I'm allocating so many MSMutableData buffers.

• Using Knockout.js to bind bootstrap daterange picker and parse span contents

  I'm new to knockout and trying to get what should be a simple task up and running. I'm working on an MVC4 .NET app with the intention of binding a date range picker to make ajax requests for updating Highchart graph data. I'm using Dan Grossman's bootstrap-themed date picker and it's been great so far (https://github.com/dangrossman/bootstrap-daterangepicker). The basic goal is to watch the span that this jQuery date ranger picker updates, and then use knockout to pass this value to another part of the app for the ajax request. I've tried everything I can find online.. valueUpdate:change on the span to using some jQuery within knockout to get the same goal done, to using a subscribe function to watch the value of the span before and after the date picker is used. Apparently this uses the jQuery .change() event handler, which is only good on inputs, selects, and textareas.. not spans.   Hi, How I can configure the path where the stdout logs are written by the WebLogic server? I've read about -Dweblogic.log.RedirectStdoutToServerLogEnabled=true, but this redirects only part of the output. For example if I will run a thread dump, the output will remain in the original log file. I think it should be an option in nodemanager/startup.properties file. WebLogic version is 10.3.2.0 and I am using a java based node manager. OS is RHEL 5. Thank you, Mircea

• jqmodal IE (7 or 8) flashes black before modal loaded

  This is killing me. In both IE7 and 8, using jqModal, the screen flashes black before the modal content is loaded. I've set up a test app to show you what's happening. I've taken jqModal EXACTLY from the site, no changes whatsoever, no external css that could be affecting my app. It works perfectly in every other browser (including IE6). http://jqmtest.heroku.com/ So, first two links are ajax calls, second is straight up inline HTML. (I originally thought it was the ajax that was affecting it, but that doesn't seem to be the case, I then thought it was slow loading ajax, hence to two differen ajax links) What's crazy is that the jqmodal site itself works perfectly in IE, no flashing of black, but I can't see what I'm doing wrong. • What iPhone OS APIs could I use to implement a transition animation similar to the iBook page flip t

  I'm building an iPad app that will have multiple paper pages and I'd like to implement a page transition affect that is similar to the animation you see when you turn pages in the iBooks app on the iPad. A few questions... Is that animation readily available somewhere in the UIKit API or would I have to implement it myself? If I have to implement it myself, what's a good approach or API I should look into? It definitely has a 3d feel to it, could they be using the OpenGL ES API for that? • Detect Installed Application URI Handler on Webkit browsers

  Guys, I have a question mainly related to the Iphone web browser but I am hoping the same solution would work on other browsers that are webkit based. I have a application (Iphone + Android) that registers a handler for custom URI (appuri://) on the Phone. I am able to launch the application by making a link to "appuri://act/launch" from my web pages. This works only if my application is installed on the device. If the device does not have the app installed then a message comes up "Safari was not able to open ....". What I want to do is detect if the URI Scheme is supported from the browser and then prompt my own message saying "please download the app ..blah blah blah" if the handler for the URI scheme is not found. Is there a way I can detect or find the list of URL Scheme handlers on the Phone from the Web Browser ?

• spawn-fcgi/ fast CGi php crashes without traces in logs, on Gentoo

  Hello, I recently moved from apache to a Nginx/fastcgi solution, I had it running on a Fedora system and had no problems, but, since i moved all to Gentoo , the Spawn-fCGI / fastcgi php daemon dies, and i can't find out any errors reports on /var/log/messages , so i don't know why this happens. I've seen that fastcgi is somehow different from the fedora distro, on gentoo as it has different conf files and init.d startup scripts, Can someone help me make it more stable? The number of requests that i had isn't any different from the ones I had on fedora, so i use the default conf that comes with the distro..and in about some hours it simply dies... • Problem with Twitter basic authentication using AJAX

  I'm developing a javascript App that needs, as part of its functionality, for users to be able to update their Twitter status. The App is designed to work on mobiles, and as such I don't really want to be sending users all the way over to the Twitter site to sign in; they should just be able to pass their credentials to the app, and I'll handle all the signin. So I'm trying to use the Basic Auth with the restful API. My code looks like: function postTweet(input){ $.ajax( { type: "POST", url: "http://twitter.com/statuses/update.json", data: {status: input}, dataType: "json", error: function() { alert("Some error occured"); }, success: function() { alert("Success!"); }, beforeSend: function(request) { request.setRequestHeader("Authorization", "Basic BASE64OFMYCREDENTIALS");} } ) ; } So, as far as I'm aware, this should perform the authentication from the XMLHttpRequest header, and then post the status. However, whenever I call this code, I get a "401 Unauthorized" error from Twitter.
