what's the best way to manage a large amount of documents? (word,ppt,pdf...) when windows explorer is not sufficient? preferably desktop based solution
I'm running PHP through mod_fastcgi & mod_suexec, and I added Header set X-UA-Compatible "IE=edge env=best-standards-support" to my .htaccess file. It works fine for static content, but the PHP files lack the header. How do I fix this problem?
When using Powershell to set Out-of-Office in Exchange 2007 (e.g.), do multiple commands containing -StartTime and -EndTime add to some internal list that Exchange maintains or does each successive command replace the previous command?
For example we have a staffer who is only in the office Tuesdays and Fridays. We'd like to set up Exchange to send an Out-of-Office message to all internal senders on those days when he's not in. How is this best done?
I have a Linux/Ubuntu DLL that depends on libboost_thread-mt.so.1.38.0 (As shown in the picture below). I've tried various ways including building my own version of LibBoost 1.38.0 yet none of my methods have worked. I was wondering if 1.38.0 is available precompiled on earlier versions of Ubuntu or if my architecture (64 Bit) is not compatible with LibBoost. Any pointers on how to fix this error are greatly appreciated.

Hi there
I have a iso image of a movie, which was ripped from a DVD-R. I wana try to burn those images to a DVD+R but if fails.
What free software, or which is the best non-free software which can burn a DVD-R ISO image to a DVD+R?
I've got a windows home server that's just great for backups and the like, but I'd like to reduce my power consumption.
What the best way to put it on a timer, say wake up daily at 6pm and shutdown if activity is less than 3% at 1am?
I have a Windows 2003 Server that I want to migrate to new hardware. All the setup and configuration was done by my predecessor. Right now I'm in a real time crunch and I just want to copy all the files and settings to the new machine. Is there an easy way to do this or do I need to manually copy all the files and add all the settings?
Microsoft KB suggests "Automated System Recovery", is this the best way forward?
I'm writing this on a MacBook Air 13" (the ones just released), but I have a problem. BootCamp provides no easy way of turning off the bluetooth or wifi radios, and nor are there any hotkey combinations on the keyboard, nor any hard or soft switches on the body to toggle these radios.
As I'll be travelling a lot with this machine, what's the best way for me to comply with the cabin service crews' instructions and disable the radios before takeoff, and reenable them after landing?
I have a 1300 page PDF file of a scanned book that was unfortunately not cropped when scanned. The actual book page dimensions are around 6x9", but each scanned page is 8.5x11", the size of the scanner bed.
For much smaller PDF files I could throw it into Photoshop and crop the page, but this is a huge file. What is the best way to losslessly crop all of the pages of the file, in either Windows or OS X?
At work, on certain projects I have to manage a lot of images. Most of the time PNG files work the best for what I'm doing.
With such a huge amount of images, I've tried using PNG compression with PNG Gauntlet but sometimes the file doesn't really change and sometimes PNG Gauntlet reports it would've made the filesize bigger!
Am I just maxing out the compression or is there something more I can do?
Hello,
which is the best way to allow a new user that I just created on ubuntu linux 9.04 to execute a script that requires some sudo without allowing him to the sudoers?
The fact is that I want to give the user just the ability to execute that script, without letting him to do anything more.
Is there a simple way to do it?
I am looking to buy something through craigslist. I cannot find this item at the moment, but it is the sort of thing that occasionally pops up on craigslist. What's the best way to setup a notification of such a posting occurring?
What is the best way to migrate a user profile in Vista? I just tried the Vista Easy Transfer and found that it did not do everything I wanted it to do. I am trying to leave a leave a domain and join a workgroup.
Is this possible? I want to close programs in the taskbar with middle-click, like tabs in firefox. The best approach I have so far is waiting for the mini-view that pops up when you point with the mouse in the taskbar and then middle-clicking there, but I would like to close them directly.
I have a lot of files on machine running Windows Server 2008 which I wanted to move to a Fedora machine. How can I keep the attributes stored in, for example, media files (date taken, rating, length, etc) while transfering it to outside the realm of NTFS's Alternate Data Streams.
I'm aware that similar metadata exists in other file systems, but what happens when you move these files? And what's the best way to retain them in other file systems?
I have several copies/instances of my xp mode image and have a bunch of apps that were auto-published to Win7. I have since disabled the "auto-publish" apps in the instances but still have the applications listed.
What is the correct/best way to clear them out. I read a post somewhere that you can just delete the shortcut in the start menu but I want to remove all links and don't know if that would suffice?
Thanks
TK
I am currently writing a bash script (for Nagios), and I would like to be able to detect if specific network cards are up or not.
My best guess is to do something like this:
ifconfig eth0 | grep UP | wc -l
or:
ethtool eth0 | grep "Link detected: yes" | wc -l
Are either/both of those reliable ways of testing if the network card is up, or is there a better option? Perhaps there is a flag on ethtool which will do precisely what I want?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions/pointers!

I am web designer/developer, and I design and code "Premium Wordpress Themes" and HTML Websites.
I wish to buy a new PC system with fast features, and will be installing virtual machines too.
What kind of PC system would be best for a professional web designer/developer.
Tell me the PC specs, e.g processor, motherboard, how much hard drive, RAM, graphic card etc.
Don't really care about the price.
I'm about to launch a new site that allows user to both upload/stream audio and video and I don't know anything about the server side of things. My original plan was to just use a dedicated server through Hostgator but from what I'm reading, Cloud hosting or Load balanced clustered is the best way to go for what Im trying to do. All the articles seem to have an agenda to sell you on an affiliate web host so how do I really need to do this?
I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop, and the hard drive is failing and I'd like to get a new one.
What I'm wondering is, do I need to buy a hard drive specific to my computer model, or are laptop harddrives usually fairly generic? (If that's the case then I can shop around for the best value.)
I have two Windows Server 2003 and both have DFS and it does replication between them.
I would like to migrate the primary win2k3 DFS server to win2k8. what is the best way to do that?
I found this article:
Migrate a Domain-based Namespace to Windows Server 2008 Mode
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753875.aspx
But I am interested only on migrating the DFS replication and not the namespace.
Thanks.
