  • Run GTK+ application in client browser

    - by mgray
Hi, I've been searching for ways to run a GTK+ application on a browser. WebKit and its associated GTK+ port seem to do the opposite - making applications more Web-friendly, but the opposite would also be nice. There seems to have been some activity to realize that for XCode, with Cappuccino and Atlas, that can translate NIB files into CIB files. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks! mike

  • Change encoding to UTF-8 recursively on Windows?

    - by Pekka
Does anybody know a tool, preferably for the Explorer context menu, to recursively change the encoding of files in a project from / to UTF-8 and other encodings? Freeware or not too expensive would be great. Edit: Thanks for the answers, +1 for all of them as they are all fine but I am a lazy bastard sometimes, and would really like to be able to just right click a folder and say "convert all .php files to UTF-8". :) Further suggestions are appreciated.

  • How do I decode this! It's not base64

    - by steve
Here's what I know... this "GxvS117MfVw=" when decoded turns to "56699" now what does this "+sB6hF46GyU=" turn into "?????" Parentheses not included I tried base64 decoder and it doesn't seem to be right. It is supposed to be a number. I am not sure about the length, I don't think it should exceed 5 numbers. I would really appreciate it if you can decode it for me and show me how. Thank you!!

  • Accessing smart card with Java

    - by Tom Brito
I'm trying to learn about how does Java access smart cards, due to a project analysis. I wonder if there is any kind of virtual smart card which I could use to make some tests with Java? By the way, I've read about Java Card, and looks like it is used to run Java in cards, not to smart card data access, right?

  • get attributes from xml tree using linq

    - by nelsonwebs
I'm working with an xml file that looks like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <element1 xmlns="http://namespace1/"> <element2> <element3> <element4 attr1="2009-11-09"> <element5 attr2="NAME1"> <element6 attr3="1"> <element7 attr4="1" attr5="5.5" attr6="3.4"/> </element6> </element5> <element5 attr2="NAME2"> <element6 attr3="1"> <element7 attr4="3" attr5="4" attr6="4.5"/> </element6> </element5> </element4> </element3> </element2> </element1> Where I need to loop through element5 and retrieve the attributes in an Ienumberable like this: attr1, attr2, attr3, attr4, attr5, attr6 using linq to xml and c#. I can loop through the element5 and get all the attribute2 info using but I can't figure out how to get the parent or child attributes I need. UPDATE: Thanks for the feeback thus far. For clarity, I need to do a loop through attribute5. So basically, what I have right now (which isn't much) is . . . XElement xel = XElement.Load(xml); IEnumberable<XElement> cList = from el in xel.Elements(env + "element2").Element (n2 + "element3").Elements(n2 + "element4").Elements(ns + "element5") select el; foreach (XElement e in cList) Console.WriteLine(e.Attribute("attr2").Value.ToString()); This will give me the value all the attr 2 in the loop but I could be going about this all wrong for what I'm trying to acheive. I also need to collect the other attributes mentioned above in a collection (the Console reference is just me playing with this right now but the end result I need is a collection). So the end results would be a collection like attr1, attr2, attr3, attr4, attr5, attr6 2009-11-09, name1, 1, 1, 5.5, 3.4 2009-11-09, name2, 1, 3, 4, 4.5 Make Sense?

  • Are there any free tools for building AIR applications?

    - by rspeed
There is an ongoing argument on the web right now about the "openness" of the iPhone OS and Adobe Flash platforms. Adobe's argument is that anyone can build a Flash application without having to worry about being allowed to distribute it. This made me wonder… is it possible to build and distribute an AIR application without giving any money to Adobe (without violating any licenses, of course)? Are any of these tools free? Are any open-source?

  • How do I move my git repo down level in the directory tree?

    - by edude05
I'm currently writing an app in C# using using Visual Studio. As such, VS2010 created a Solution directory with my project directories inside. So my Hierarchy is like this: Solution .git project1 project2 What I'd like to do is make it like this: Solution Project 1 .git Project 2 As of right now the files in the solution are tracked, except for the project 2 (so stuff like project.sln for example). Is there a way I can do this without rewriting the history? Thanks in advance.

  • Identifying Swing component at a particular screen coordinate? (And manually dispatching MouseEvents

    - by DVA
I'm doing some work making a Java app compatible with alternative input devices. Unfortunately, the device in question has a Java API that's barely into the alpha stages right now, so it's pretty poor. What I need to do is essentially set up a replacement structure for the dispatch of MouseEvents. Does anyone know if there's a way in Swing to take a screen coordinate and find out what Swing component is displayed on top at that screen point?

  • Good advanced book on developing robust C# modules

    - by AlexKuznetsov
I have some experience with C#, and would like to improve my knowledge of its latest improvements. I am in the middle of reading and enjoying "Effective C#" by Bill Wagner right now. However, I would appreciate more examples, especially with lambda expressions and such. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. High quality resources are preferable, and it does not matter much if they are free or not.

  • Which one has a faster runtime performance: WPF or Winforms?

    - by Joan Venge
I know WPF is more complex an flexible so could be thought to do more calculations. But since the rendering is done on the GPU, wouldn't it be faster than Winforms for the same application (functionally and visually)? I mean when you are not running any games or heavy 3d rendering, the GPU isn't doing heavy work, right? Whereas the CPU is always busy. Is this a valid assumption or is the GPU utilization of WPF a very minor operation in its pipeline?

  • What is the best way to debug OpenGL?

    - by dreamlax
I find that a lot of the time, OpenGL will show you it failed by not drawing anything. I'm trying to find ways to debug OpenGL programs, by inspecting the transformation matrix stack and so on. What is the best way to debug OpenGL? If the code looks and feels like the vertices are in the right place, how can you be sure they are?

  • Describe relative angles between points (like driving directions)

    - by aan234g
I have a list of points with x, y coordinates. I know how to get the distance between points with sqrt(pow($x2 - $x1, 2) + pow($y2 - $y1, 2)) and the angle between points with atan2(y1 - y2, x1 - x2). How can I calculate the relative angle between the points (left, right, straight)? So, if I'm at point 1, what is the relative direction to point 2, then 2 to 3, 3 to 4, etc... Thanks for any help!

  • File paths on Silverlight applications

    - by jose
I have two silverlight applications. One produces XML files (models) that are used for the other to read. The XML files are uploaded to a specific (abosulte for now) folder. So, I need a solution to grant access by these two applications, a Models folder. Right now I'm using absolute paths and developing in ASP.NET Dev server. What would be the best way to accomplish this, thinking on IIS approach? Regards,

  • are there any good timer implementation in perl

    - by Haiyuan Zhang
I'm looking for good timer implementation in perl. The situation I met is like: I need to keep track of I/O activities of many files and for thoes files keep untouched for enough time a remove action will be taken upon them, so an efficient timer implementation is really vital for the app I'm involved right now. To avoid recreate the wheel, ask you guys for help first.

  • How do I upload a file when I know the client's filepath?

    - by GJTorikian
I'm interested in the way Sonic Living detects your iTunes library XML file. It prompts the user to approve its actions, then automatically uploads the XML file based on the client OS (and assuming the default installation path of iTunes). How the heck does it do that? None of the upload libraries I've looked at have this feature. They all assume that a user will click "Select file..." then browse around for the right thing to upload.

  • Why should i learn C++.

    - by Babiker
Everyone has been telling me to learn C++. Without bashing languages right and left, can someone please state some relevant reasons as to why I should learn C++ today? Note that in no way am I saying anything harsh about C++. I just want to know why I should master it as a programmer instead of the other powerful languages out there.
