  • preg_match problem

I'm trying to get some stuff from a string in php. In RegexBuddy and Regular expression tester (firefox addon) it works good, but php gives me the following: Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Compilation failed: unmatched parentheses at offset 34 in D:\path\example.php on line 62 my pattern is "/.{4}_tmp\\([A-Za-z0-9.\\]*)\(([0-9]*)\) : (.*)/i" an example string: C:\Temp\browseide\projects\32\821C_tmp\SourceFiles\main.c(8) : error C2143: syntax error : missing ';' before 'for' what RegexBuddy gets: 821C_tmp\SourceFiles\main.c(8) : error C2143: syntax error : missing ';' before 'for' Group 1: SourceFiles\main.c Group 2: 8 Group 3: error C2143: syntax error : missing ';' before 'for'

  • How to use C to write to flash drive bootsector despite error 'Failed to open file to write.:Permiss

    - by updateraj
My goal is to manipulate the boot-sector in my flashdrive (volume E:) I am using XP. I am able to read the boot-sector FILE *fp_read = fopen("\\\\.\\E:", "rb"); /* Able to proceed to read boot sector */ however i am not able to open the file to write using fopen in 'wb' mode. FILE *fp_read = fopen("\\\\.\\E:", "wb"); /* Unable to proceed due to Failed to open file to write.:Permission Denied */ The flash-drive is not in use at the moment of execution. Hex-editors are able to manipulated boot sector etc, i believe it possible to do so in c. Any suggestion or insight to overcome the access problem so as to be able to write?

  • How do I debug this javascript -- I don't get an error in Firebug but it's not working as expected.

    - by Angela
    I installed the plugin better-edit-in-place (http://github.com/nakajima/better-edit-in-place) but I dont' seem to be able to make it work. The plugin creates javascript, and also automatically creates a rel and class. The expected behavior is to make an edit-in-place, but it currently is not. Nothing happens when I mouse over. When I use firebug, it is rendering the value to be edited correctly: <span rel="/emails/1" id="email_1_days" class="editable">7</span> And it is showing the full javascript which should work on class editable. I didn't copy everything, just the chunks that seemed should be operationable if I have a class name in the DOM. // Editable: Better in-place-editing // http://github.com/nakajima/nakatype/wikis/better-edit-in-place-editable-js var Editable = Class.create({ initialize: function(element, options) { this.element = $(element); Object.extend(this, options); // Set default values for options this.editField = this.editField || {}; this.editField.type = this.editField.type || 'input'; this.onLoading = this.onLoading || Prototype.emptyFunction; this.onComplete = this.onComplete || Prototype.emptyFunction; this.field = this.parseField(); this.value = this.element.innerHTML; this.setupForm(); this.setupBehaviors(); }, // In order to parse the field correctly, it's necessary that the element // you want to edit in place for have an id of (model_name)_(id)_(field_name). // For example, if you want to edit the "caption" field in a "Photo" model, // your id should be something like "photo_#{@photo.id}_caption". // If you want to edit the "comment_body" field in a "MemberBlogPost" model, // it would be: "member_blog_post_#{@member_blog_post.id}_comment_body" parseField: function() { var matches = this.element.id.match(/(.*)_\d*_(.*)/); this.modelName = matches[1]; this.fieldName = matches[2]; if (this.editField.foreignKey) this.fieldName += '_id'; return this.modelName + '[' + this.fieldName + ']'; }, // Create the editing form for the editable and inserts it after the element. // If window._token is defined, then we add a hidden element that contains the // authenticity_token for the AJAX request. setupForm: function() { this.editForm = new Element('form', { 'action': this.element.readAttribute('rel'), 'style':'display:none', 'class':'in-place-editor' }); this.setupInputElement(); if (this.editField.tag != 'select') { this.saveInput = new Element('input', { type:'submit', value: Editable.options.saveText }); if (this.submitButtonClass) this.saveInput.addClassName(this.submitButtonClass); this.cancelLink = new Element('a', { href:'#' }).update(Editable.options.cancelText); if (this.cancelButtonClass) this.cancelLink.addClassName(this.cancelButtonClass); } var methodInput = new Element('input', { type:'hidden', value:'put', name:'_method' }); if (typeof(window._token) != 'undefined') { this.editForm.insert(new Element('input', { type: 'hidden', value: window._token, name: 'authenticity_token' })); } this.editForm.insert(this.editField.element); if (this.editField.type != 'select') { this.editForm.insert(this.saveInput); this.editForm.insert(this.cancelLink); } this.editForm.insert(methodInput); this.element.insert({ after: this.editForm }); }, // Create input element - text input, text area or select box. setupInputElement: function() { this.editField.element = new Element(this.editField.type, { 'name':this.field, 'id':('edit_' + this.element.id) }); if(this.editField['class']) this.editField.element.addClassName(this.editField['class']); if(this.editField.type == 'select') { // Create options var options = this.editField.options.map(function(option) { return new Option(option[0], option[1]); }); // And assign them to select element options.each(function(option, index) { this.editField.element.options[index] = options[index]; }.bind(this)); // Set selected option try { this.editField.element.selectedIndex = $A(this.editField.element.options).find(function(option) { return option.text == this.element.innerHTML; }.bind(this)).index; } catch(e) { this.editField.element.selectedIndex = 0; } // Set event handlers to automaticall submit form when option is changed this.editField.element.observe('blur', this.cancel.bind(this)); this.editField.element.observe('change', this.save.bind(this)); } else { // Copy value of the element to the input this.editField.element.value = this.element.innerHTML; } }, // Sets up event handles for editable. setupBehaviors: function() { this.element.observe('click', this.edit.bindAsEventListener(this)); if (this.saveInput) this.editForm.observe('submit', this.save.bindAsEventListener(this)); if (this.cancelLink) this.cancelLink.observe('click', this.cancel.bindAsEventListener(this)); }, // Event Handler that activates form and hides element. edit: function(event) { this.element.hide(); this.editForm.show(); this.editField.element.activate ?   • Powershell $LastExitCode=0 but $?=False . Redirecting stderr to stdout gives NativeCommandError

    - by Colonel Panic
Can anyone explain Powershell's surprising behaviour in the second example below? First, a example of sane behaviour: PS C:\> & cmd /c "echo Hello from standard error 1>&2"; echo "`$LastExitCode=$LastExitCode and `$?=$?" Hello from standard error $LastExitCode=0 and $?=True No surprises. I print a message to standard error (using cmd's echo). I inspect the variables $? and $LastExitCode. They equal to True and 0 respectively, as expected. However, if I ask Powershell to redirect standard error to standard output over the first command, I get a NativeCommandError: PS C:\> & cmd /c "echo Hello from standard error 1>&2" 2>&1; echo "`$LastExitCode=$LastExitCode and `$?=$?" cmd.exe : Hello from standard error At line:1 char:4 + cmd <<<< /c "echo Hello from standard error 1>&2" 2>&1; echo "`$LastExitCode=$LastExitCode and `$?=$?" + CategoryInfo : NotSpecified: (Hello from standard error :String) [], RemoteException + FullyQualifiedErrorId : NativeCommandError $LastExitCode=0 and $?=False My first question, why the NativeCommandError ? Secondly, why is $? False when cmd ran successfully and $LastExitCode is 0? Powershell's docs about_Automatic_Variables don't explicitly define $?. I always supposed it is True if and only if $LastExitCode is 0 but my example contradicts that. Here's how I came across this behaviour in the real-world (simplified). It really is FUBAR. I was calling one Powershell script from another. The inner script: cmd /c "echo Hello from standard error 1>&2" if (! $?) { echo "Job failed. Sending email.." exit 1 } # do something else Running this simply .\job.ps1, it works fine, no email is sent. However, I was calling it from another Powershell script, logging to a file .\job.ps1 2>&1 > log.txt. In this case, an email is sent! Here, the act of observing a phenomenon changes its outcome. This feels like quantum physics rather than scripting! [Interestingly: .\job.ps1 2>&1 may or not blow up depending on where you run it]

  • How to determine whether a class has a particular templated member function?

    - by Aozine
I was wondering if it's possible to extend the SFINAE approach to detecting whether a class has a certain member function (as discussed here: "Is there a Technique in C++ to know if a class has a member function of a given signature?" http://stackoverflow.com/questions/87372/is-there-a-technique-in-c-to-know-if-a-class-has-a-member-function-of-a-given-s ) to support templated member functions? E.g. to be able to detect the function foo in the following class: struct some_class { template < int _n > void foo() { } }; I thought it might be possible to do this for a particular instantiation of foo, (e.g. check to see if void foo< 5 >() is a member) as follows: template < typename _class, int _n > class foo_int_checker { template < typename _t, void (_t::*)() > struct sfinae { }; template < typename _t > static big test( sfinae< _t, &_t::foo< _n > > * ); template < typename _t > static small test( ... ); public: enum { value = sizeof( test< _class >( 0 ) ) == sizeof( big ) }; }; Then do foo_int_checker< some_class, 5 >::value to check whether some_class has the member void foo< 5 >(). However on MSVC++ 2008 this always returns false while g++ gives the following syntax errors at the line test( sfinae< _t, &_t::foo< _n > > ); test.cpp:24: error: missing `>' to terminate the template argument list test.cpp:24: error: template argument 2 is invalid test.cpp:24: error: expected unqualified-id before '<' token test.cpp:24: error: expected `,' or `...' before '<' token test.cpp:24: error: ISO C++ forbids declaration of `parameter' with no type Both seem to fail because I'm trying to get the address of a template function instantiation from a type that is itself a template parameter. Does anyone know whether this is possible or if it's disallowed by the standard for some reason? EDIT: It seems that I missed out the ::template syntax to get g++ to compile the above code correctly. If I change the bit where I get the address of the function to &_t::template foo< _n > then the program compiles, but I get the same behaviour as MSVC++ (value is always set to false). If I comment out the ... overload of test to force the compiler to pick the other one, I get the following compiler error in g++: test.cpp: In instantiation of `foo_int_checker<A, 5>': test.cpp:40: instantiated from here test.cpp:32: error: invalid use of undefined type `class foo_int_checker<A, 5>' test.cpp:17: error: declaration of `class foo_int_checker<A, 5>' test.cpp:32: error: enumerator value for `value' not integer constant where line 32 is the enum { value = sizeof( test< _class >( 0 ) ) == sizeof( big ) }; line. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to help me diagnose the problem :(. MSVC++ gives a similar nondescript error: error C2770: invalid explicit template argument(s) for 'clarity::meta::big checker<_checked_type>::test(checker<_checked_type>::sfinae<_t,&_t::template foo<5>> *)' on the same line. What's strange is that if I get the address from a specific class and not a template parameter (i.e. rather than &_t::template foo< _n > I do &some_class::template foo< _n >) then I get the correct result, but then my checker class is limited to checking a single class (some_class) for the function. Also, if I do the following: template < typename _t, void (_t::*_f)() > void f0() { } template < typename _t > void f1() { f0< _t, &_t::template foo< 5 > >(); } and call f1< some_class >() then I DON'T get a compile error on &_t::template foo< 5 >. This suggests that the problem only arises when getting the address of a templated member function from a type that is itself a template parameter while in a SFINAE context. Argh!

  • Is there a jQuery plugin for error messages at top like Twitter?

    - by sami
I'm looking for a jquery plugin that would create an errors div like what twitter has. The div gets added by the plugin, it stays hidden while it doesn't have content, then when a message gets added to it, it appears at the top (with either a close button option or automatic disappear after an x number of seconds). It's not too difficult to write, but there would be no reason to write it if it's already been done before. Anyone knows of a plugin like that?

  • Default Accessor Needed: Custom ConfigurationSection

    - by Mark
I am totally confused by a simple Microsoft error message. When I run XSD.exe against an assembly that contains a custom ConfigurationSection (which in turn utilizes a custom ConfigurationElement and a custom ConfigurationElementCollection, as well as several ConfigurationProperties), I get the following error message: Error: There was an error processing 'Olbert.Entity.Utils.dll'. There was an error reflecting type 'Olbert.Entity.DatabaseConnection'. You must implement a default accessor on System.Configuration.ConfigurationLockCollection because it inherits from ICollection. Yet the class in question has a default accessor: public object this[int idx] { get { return null; } set { } } I realize the above doesn't do anything, but I don't need to access the element's properties by index. I'm just trying to work around the error message. So what's going on?

  • Best practice for storage and retrieval of error messages.

    - by ferrari fan
What is a best practice for storing user messages in a configuration file and then retrieving them for certain events throughout an application? I was thinking of having 1 single configuration file with entries such as REQUIRED_FIELD = {0} is a required field INVALID_FORMAT = The format for {0} is {1} etc. and then calling them from a class that would be something like this public class UIMessages { public static final String REQUIRED_FIELD = "REQUIRED_FIELD"; public static final String INVALID_FORMAT = "INVALID_FORMAT"; static { // load configuration file into a "Properties" object } public static String getMessage(String messageKey) { // return properties.getProperty(messageKey); } } Is this the right way to approach this problem or is there some de-facto standard already in place?

  • Database Error Handling: What if You have to Call Outside service and the Transaction Fails?

    - by Ngu Soon Hui
We all know that we can always wrap our database call in transaction ( with or without a proper ORM), in a form like this: $con = Propel::getConnection(EventPeer::DATABASE_NAME); try { $con->begin(); // do your update, save, delete or whatever here. $con->commit(); } catch (PropelException $e) { $con->rollback(); throw $e; } This way would guarantee that if the transaction fails, the database is restored to the correct status. But the problem is that let's say when I do a transaction, in addition to that transaction, I need to update another database ( an example would be when I update an entry in a column in databaseA, another entry in a column in databaseB must be updated). How to handle this case? Let's say, this is my code, I have three databases that need to be updated ( dbA, dbB, dbc): $con = Propel::getConnection("dbA"); try { $con->begin(); // update to dbA // update to dbB //update to dbc $con->commit(); } catch (PropelException $e) { $con->rollback(); throw $e; } If dbc fails, I can rollback the dbA but I can't rollback dbb. I think this problem should be database independent. And since I am using ORM, this should be ORM independent as well. Update: Some of the database transactions are wrapped in ORM, some are using naked PDO, oledb ( or whatever bare minimum language provided database calls). So my solution has to take care this. Any idea?

  • Saving in mongoDb with Mongoose, unexpected elements saved

    - by guiomie
When I write in my mongoDB with mongoose the operation is treated with success, my document is saved, but there is also all kind of weird other sutff written down. It seems to be mongoose code. What could cause this? I add stuff in a specific array with: resultReference.ref[arrayLocation].allEvents.push(theEvent); {id: 11, allEvents: [] } is the structure of a ref element, and I push theEvent in the allEvents array. • Logging into table in MS SQL trigger

    - by Martin
I am coding MS SQL 2005 trigger. I want to make some logging during trigger execution, using INSERT statement into my log table. When there occurs error during execution, I want to raise error and cancel action that cause trigger execution, but not to lose log records. What is the best way to achieve this? Now my trigger logs everything except situation when there is error - because of ROLLBACK. RAISERROR statement is needed in order to inform calling program about error. Now, my error handling code looks like: if (@err = 1) begin INSERT INTO dbo.log(date, entry) SELECT getdate(), 'ERROR: ' + out from #output RAISERROR (@msg, 16, 1) rollback transaction return end

  • Languages and VMs: Features that are hard to optimize and why

    - by mrjoltcola
I'm doing a survey of features in preparation for a research project. Name a mainstream language or language feature that is hard to optimize, and why the feature is or isn't worth the price paid, or instead, just debunk my theories below with anecdotal evidence. Before anyone flags this as subjective, I am asking for specific examples of languages or features, and ideas for optimization of these features, or important features that I haven't considered. Also, any references to implementations that prove my theories right or wrong. Top on my list of hard to optimize features and my theories (some of my theories are untested and are based on thought experiments): 1) Runtime method overloading (aka multi-method dispatch or signature based dispatch). Is it hard to optimize when combined with features that allow runtime recompilation or method addition. Or is it just hard, anyway? Call site caching is a common optimization for many runtime systems, but multi-methods add additional complexity as well as making it less practical to inline methods. 2) Type morphing / variants (aka value based typing as opposed to variable based) Traditional optimizations simply cannot be applied when you don't know if the type of someting can change in a basic block. Combined with multi-methods, inlining must be done carefully if at all, and probably only for a given threshold of size of the callee. ie. it is easy to consider inlining simple property fetches (getters / setters) but inlining complex methods may result in code bloat. The other issue is I cannot just assign a variant to a register and JIT it to the native instructions because I have to carry around the type info, or every variable needs 2 registers instead of 1. On IA-32 this is inconvenient, even if improved with x64's extra registers. This is probably my favorite feature of dynamic languages, as it simplifies so many things from the programmer's perspective. 3) First class continuations - There are multiple ways to implement them, and I have done so in both of the most common approaches, one being stack copying and the other as implementing the runtime to use continuation passing style, cactus stacks, copy-on-write stack frames, and garbage collection. First class continuations have resource management issues, ie. we must save everything, in case the continuation is resumed, and I'm not aware if any languages support leaving a continuation with "intent" (ie. "I am not coming back here, so you may discard this copy of the world"). Having programmed in the threading model and the contination model, I know both can accomplish the same thing, but continuations' elegance imposes considerable complexity on the runtime and also may affect cache efficienty (locality of stack changes more with use of continuations and co-routines). The other issue is they just don't map to hardware. Optimizing continuations is optimizing for the less-common case, and as we know, the common case should be fast, and the less-common cases should be correct. 4) Pointer arithmetic and ability to mask pointers (storing in integers, etc.) Had to throw this in, but I could actually live without this quite easily. My feelings are that many of the high-level features, particularly in dynamic languages just don't map to hardware. Microprocessor implementations have billions of dollars of research behind the optimizations on the chip, yet the choice of language feature(s) may marginalize many of these features (features like caching, aliasing top of stack to register, instruction parallelism, return address buffers, loop buffers and branch prediction). Macro-applications of micro-features don't necessarily pan out like some developers like to think, and implementing many languages in a VM ends up mapping native ops into function calls (ie. the more dynamic a language is the more we must lookup/cache at runtime, nothing can be assumed, so our instruction mix is made up of a higher percentage of non-local branching than traditional, statically compiled code) and the only thing we can really JIT well is expression evaluation of non-dynamic types and operations on constant or immediate types. It is my gut feeling that bytecode virtual machines and JIT cores are perhaps not always justified for certain languages because of this. I welcome your answers.

  • sqlite3 date and interval functions

    - by umuthorax
Hi, I wonder whether sqlite3 supports interval function. The following statement is accepted by PostgreSQL, however sqlite3 failed to parse it; select ... from orders where ... and o_orderdate < date '1995-03-01' + interval '3' month Error: near line 4: near "'1995-03-01'": syntax error Then, I modified the statement a little bit such as; and o_orderdate < date('1995-03-01') + interval '3' month This time the error was; Error: near line 4: near "'3'": syntax error Unfortunately, same trick did not work for the interval function i.e. and o_orderdate < date('1995-03-01') + interval('3' month) or and o_orderdate < date('1995-03-01') + interval('3') month or even and o_orderdate < date('1995-03-01') + interval(3 month) still gave me the syntax error. Maybe sqlite3 does not support interval function or am I missing something in its usage? Thanks a lot

  • Error while trying to parse a website url using python . how to debug it ?

    - by mekasperasky
#!/usr/bin/python import json import urllib from BeautifulSoup import BeautifulSoup from BeautifulSoup import BeautifulStoneSoup import BeautifulSoup def showsome(searchfor): query = urllib.urlencode({'q': searchfor}) url = 'http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/services/search/web?v=1.0&%s' % query search_response = urllib.urlopen(url) search_results = search_response.read() results = json.loads(search_results) data = results['responseData'] print 'Total results: %s' % data['cursor']['estimatedResultCount'] hits = data['results'] print 'Top %d hits:' % len(hits) for h in hits: print ' ', h['url'] resp = urllib.urlopen(h['url']) res = resp.read() soup = BeautifulSoup(res) print soup.prettify() print 'For more results, see %s' % data['cursor']['moreResultsUrl'] showsome('sachin') What is the wrong in this code ? Note all the 4 links that I am getting out of the search , I am feeding it back to extract the contents out of it , and then use BeautifulSoup to parse it . How should I go about it ?
