• Simple Communication between 2 instances of application

  I have a WPF application that can take a few optional command line arguments. This application is also a single instance application (using a mutex to close any instances if one is already open). What I want for it to do though, is if something tries to open the application with some cmd line args, that the application will do what it's suppose to do with those (in my application it opens different dialogs based on the cmd line). What is the easiest way to achieve this?   I am using several languages, and by now I am obliged to indicate vim with which of these the spell check must be done. Is there a way to set up vim so that he automatically detects the correct one ? I remember vaguely that in a previous version of vim, when the spell check was not integrated, this was possible, using the vimspell script. It would be even better if this could apply not only to a file but also to a portion of a file, since I frequently mix several languages in a single file. Of course, I would like to avoid to load several dictionaries simultaneously.

• Can I stagger UpdatePanel updates in .NET?

  I have a situation in which I select an account and I want to bring back its details. This is a single UpdatePanel round trip and its quite quick. In addition, I need to bring back some transactional information which is from a much bigger table and takes a couple of seconds for the query to come back. Ideally, I would like to put this into a second update panel and update this additional information once it has been received, but after the first update panel has updated i.e. the user sees: Change account See account details (almost instant) See transactional info (2 seconds later) The only way I can think of doing this is to use javascript to cause a SECOND postback once the account details have been retrieved to get the transaction information. Is there a better way?

  This is FIrst time i try to create Cocoa Touch Static Library and follow these steps. Create New Project with Cocoa Touch Static Library named it By default i got single class with Demo.h and Demo.m. 2.Create a public function in .h and implement it in .m. 3.Select iOS Device and press cmd + B. 4.Copy Demo.a from products and the .h file drop it in my iOS App where i want to use it. 5.Then Import Demo.h and try to call the function that i wrote. I can imagine that i could do this with 2 selects. (first select total number of users and then order the entries descending by age and select the first entry).   Hi, In short: is there a way to compile and run single file in NetBeans or Visual Studio without having to setup and tinker with projects? I'm currently using code::blocks as my IDE. It's fast and very simple: perfect for my needs as a begginner. I wanted to dive a little deeper and try out a more advanced IDE such as NetBeans or Visual Studio. It appears I have to mess with projects and have a setup that seems overkill for having to compile and run one very simple .c/.cpp source file that contains less than 50-100 lines of code etc. Is there a way around this?

• MySQL LEFT JOIN issue with three WHERE statements

  I am building a note taking app for myself with tag filtering functions, but am having an issue when trying to grab notes with the tags. The tag filter needs to use AND not IN, because it will help better narrow down what I am looking for. My tables are configured like this: + notes note_id | note_title | note_uid + tags tag_id | tag_title + notes_tags nt_id | nt_note_id | nt_tag_id The notes_tags table keeps track of all notes' tags. I am not worried about returning any information about tags, so here is an example LEFT JOIN I am using currently to only get notes with only 1 tag. SELECT * FROM notes_tags LEFT JOIN notes ON note_id = nt_note_id WHERE note_uid IN ( 1 ) AND nt_tag_id = 10 This query runs perfect, it grabs all of the notes with that single tag. However, I am having issues "pinpointing" my notes using a query like this: SELECT * FROM notes_tags LEFT JOIN notes ON note_id = nt_note_id WHERE note_uid IN ( 1 ) AND nt_tag_id = 10 AND nt_tag_id = 11 What am I doing wrong with the syntax?

  I'm working on a metaprogramming task, where I'm trying to use a single method to define a polymorphic association in the calling class, while also defining the association in the target class. I need to pass in the name of the calling class to get the association right.   Hi All, I am fetching some data from Db and displaying it in a textarea using jquery in the following way. $('#textareatest').val('<% =teststring %>').It is possible that the string 'teststring' can contain XHTML line breaks(<br/>).whenever the string contains <br/> I am getting the 'unterminated string literal' error.I saw a number of posts considering '\n' as line breaks and suggesting to escape it.I tried to escape the <br/> similarly,but it didn't work. • Pushing an array into a vector.

  I've a 2d array, say A[2][3]={{1,2,3},{4,5,6}}; and I want to push it into a 2D vector(vector of vectors). I know you can use two for loops to push the elements one by on on to the first vector and then push that into the another vector which makes it 2d vector but I was wondering if there is any way in C++ to do this in a single loop. For example I want to do something like this: myvector.pushback(A[1]+3); // where 3 is the size or number of columns in the array. I understand this is not a correct code but I put this just for understanding purpose. Thanks

Are there any answers to why my concatenation won't work the way I want it in the label, but works fine with the TextBox?

  Hi-- I have a simple mySQL problem-- I have two tables, one is a user's table, and one is a photos table (each user can upload multiple photos). I'd like to write a query to join these tables, so I can pull all photos associated with a user (up to a certain limit). However, when I do something obvious like this: SELECT *.a, *.b FROM user_table a JOIN photos_table b ON a.id = b.userid it returns a.id, a.name, a.email, a.address, b.id, b.userid, b.photo_title, b.location but it only returns a single photo. Is there a way to return something like: a.id, a.name, a.email, a.address, b.id, b.userid, b.photo_title, b.location, b.id2, b.photo_title2, b.location2 etc. . . for a given LIMIT of photos? Thanks for any ideas.

• Ruby on Rails: Best way to save search queries in a database

  For a RoR app I'm helping develop, I need to save all search queries in a database so I can analyze them later. My plan right now is to create a Result model and table, and just save each search query's text in that table, along with a user's ID, the time, etc. However, the app has about 15,000 users, so I'm afraid the single table approach won't be super efficient when it comes time to parse that data. (The database is setup via MySQL, if that factors in at all.) Am I just being paranoid? Is there a Ruby gem that handles this sort of thing, or a better approach I could take? Any input would be appreciated.

  There should be a simple Linq query for what I'm trying to accomplish, but I'm producing some ugly code. I have two tables, one of issues and another of issue status. There is a one-to-many relationship between issue and issue status. When an issue is created an IssueStatus is also created with the status field set to "Open" when it is closed, another IssueStatus is created with the status field set to "Closed" ... but issues can be re-opened. It seems like I should be able to write something like this: public static List<Issue> FindOpenIssues(this IList<Issue> issues) { return ( from issue in issues from issueStatus in issue.issueStatus.OrderBy(x=>x.CreatedOn).Single() where issueStatus.Status == "Open" select issue ).ToList(); } This obviously fails, but there must be a clean way to do this? • nested list comprehension using intermediate result

  I am trying to grok the output of a function which doesn't have the courtesy of setting a result code. I can tell it failed by the "error:" string which is mixed into the stderr stream, often in the middle of a different conversion status message. I have the following list comprehension which works, but scans for the "error:" string twice. Since it is only rescanning the actual error lines, it works fine, but it annoys me I can't figure out how to use a single scan. Here's the working code: errors = [e[e.find('error:'):] for e in err.splitlines() if 'error:' in e] The obvious (and wrong) way to simplify is to save the "find" result errors = [e[i:] for i in e.find('error:') if i != -1 for e in err.splitlines()] However, I get "UnboundLocalError: local variable 'e' referenced before assignment". Blindly reversing the 'for's in the comprehension also fails. How is this done? THanks. Kent

  Hi, My understanding of Resources is that I can combine resources i.e. images and my program into single executable. Let's say I have image pic1.png and I put it into Resource of my project, and is accessible with Properties.Resource.pic1. For example, PictureBox pb = new PictureBox(); pb.Image = Properties.Resource.pic1; What I want to do is for that my program will be able to replace this image at runtime. For example, my program runs, and locate newPicture.png, and use this new image to replace pic1.png that was originally used. Maybe my question is better reworded as "Can I include new image into Resources at runtime?" Please help. Thanks.

  I've seen various Grails plugins which allow easier handling of file uploads, however these tend only to support a single file per form-submit. I'd like a multi-attach form where as soon as you pick one file, an extra field and button is added using JS (various sites do it like this). Do you know of any good plugins which provide elegant uploading of multiple files without excessive coding? A progress bar either per-file of for the whole process would also be very nice. I don't know to what extent I can allow GORM to handle a java.io.File field (or in this case a Collection<File>).

For example, I'd like write a rewrite rule like: RewriteRule some_regex /index.php?path/show/$1 [L] where some_regex would pull out the last component of a url in the format: /something/path/some_param to redirect to /index.php/path/show/some_param I'm trying to use ! and [^] syntax, but I don't quite understand how these work, especially when they involve words not single characters.

• How can I decrease time opening myisam table in an "union all" of the same table??

  I have a myisam table with 2.5M rows, I use an union all to get my results as following: (SELECT t.id FROM t WHERE type=1 LIMIT 10) UNION ALL (SELECT t.id FROM t WHERE type=2 LIMIT 10) ... UNION ALL (SELECT t.id FROM t WHERE type=25 LIMIT 10) the time to opening the table t is about 6ms. With a single request: SELECT t.id FROM t WHERE type=1 LIMIT 10 the time is about 1ms. What I don't understand is why mysql spend more time to the same table in union all. It should recognize that is the same table and so just opening at the first union. Does anybody can help me to decrease the time for opening table in a "union all"? Thanks in advance!

• What is the right way to implement communication between java objects?

  I'm working on an academic project which simulates a rather large queuing procedure in java. The core of the simulator rests within one package where there exist 8 classes, each one implementing a single concept. Every class in the project follows SRP. These classes encapsulate the behavior of the simulator and inter-connect every other class in the project. The problem that has arisen is that most of these 8 classes are, as is logical i think, tightly coupled and each one has to have working knowledge of every other class in this package in order to be able to call methods from it when needed. The application needs only one instance of each class so it might be better to create static fields for each class in a new class and use that to make calls -instead of preserving a reference in each class for every other class in the package (which I'm certain that is incorrect)-, but is this considered a correct design solution? or is there a design pattern maybe that better suits my needs?

  I have NUnit installed at this directory. C:\Program Files\NUnit 2.5.5\bin\net-2.0 I made the directory beneath a GAC. C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_MSIL\NUnit and copied the nunit.framework.dll, but I got the same error. When I try to run my unit test (mut.dll) in some random directory. I get the following error. I have to copy the mut.dll under the NUnit directory in order to run it. ProcessModel: Default DomainUsage: Single Execution Runtime: net-2.0 Could not load file or assembly 'nunit.framework, Version=2.5.5.10112, Culture=n eutral, PublicKeyToken=96d09a1eb7f44a77' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. What went wrong? How can I install/copy the assembly inside a GAC?

  I'm trying to figure out a way to display custom text based on the users selection of the variable product. The attribute is 'pricing' and the tag is deposit - which I've added a text description to when adding the attribute. So I'm trying to make this text appear when the user selects 'deposit' But the code I'm using in 'content-single-product.php' is displaying the text all the time no matter what variable is selected or not. <?php $my_taxonomy = 'pa_pricing'; $terms = wp_get_post_terms( $post->ID, $my_taxonomy ); echo term_description($terms[0]->term_id, $my_taxonomy); ?> I only want the text to be displayed after the user has selected pricing 'deposit' Can someone help me with this?
