• Oracle Linux Friday Spotlight - November 8, 2013

- by Chris Kawalek
Happy Friday, everyone! This week, I want to highlight a really wonderful resource, the Oracle Linux Wiki on wikis.oracle.com. You can find a lot of in-depth technical information there and it’s probably worthy of a bookmark to check in on occasionally. One of my favorite types of content on the wiki is the do it yourself hands on labs. We do these at in person events like Oracle OpenWorld and also online for our Virutal SysAdmin Days, and those are great because you can get real-time assistance if you have any questions. But, if you’re eager to learn more about Oracle Linux and don’t want to wait for one of those events, you can step through these labs in your own time. All of the information you need is on the wiki. We’ll see you next week! -Chris

• Friday Tips #34

- by Chris Kawalek
Happy Friday! I wanted to take the opportunity this week to not give out a tip per se, but to point you to a really fantastic white paper that you might have missed. It's called What It Takes to Deploy and Manage a Private Cloud with Oracle VM. The paper is filled with useful information and it's written in a really entertaining style, tackling the IT challenges of a friendly systems administrator named Dave. It gives a great overview of application-driven virtualization and covers Oracle VM, Oracle VM Templates, Oracle VM Storage Connect, and Oracle Enterprise Manager. Read the white paper What It Takes to Deploy and Manage a Private Cloud with Oracle VM. See you next week! -Chris

• Java ThreadPoolExecutor getting stuck while using ArrayBlockingQueue

- by Ravi Rao
Hi, I'm working on some application and using ThreadPoolExecutor for handling various tasks. ThreadPoolExecutor is getting stuck after some duration. To simulate this in a simpler environment, I've written a simple code where I'm able to simulate the issue. import java.util.concurrent.ArrayBlockingQueue; import java.util.concurrent.RejectedExecutionHandler; import java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor; import java.util.concurrent.TimeUnit; public class MyThreadPoolExecutor { private int poolSize = 10; private int maxPoolSize = 50; private long keepAliveTime = 10; private ThreadPoolExecutor threadPool = null; private final ArrayBlockingQueue<Runnable> queue = new ArrayBlockingQueue<Runnable>( 100000); public MyThreadPoolExecutor() { threadPool = new ThreadPoolExecutor(poolSize, maxPoolSize, keepAliveTime, TimeUnit.SECONDS, queue); threadPool.setRejectedExecutionHandler(new RejectedExecutionHandler() { @Override public void rejectedExecution(Runnable runnable, ThreadPoolExecutor threadPoolExecutor) { System.out .println("Execution rejected. Please try restarting the application."); } }); } public void runTask(Runnable task) { threadPool.execute(task); } public void shutDown() { threadPool.shutdownNow(); } public ThreadPoolExecutor getThreadPool() { return threadPool; } public void setThreadPool(ThreadPoolExecutor threadPool) { this.threadPool = threadPool; } public static void main(String[] args) { MyThreadPoolExecutor mtpe = new MyThreadPoolExecutor(); for (int i = 0; i < 1000; i++) { final int j = i; mtpe.runTask(new Runnable() { @Override public void run() { System.out.println(j); } }); } } } Try executing this code a few times. It normally print outs the number on console and when all threads end, it exists. But at times, it finished all task and then is not getting terminated. The thread dump is as follows: MyThreadPoolExecutor [Java Application] MyThreadPoolExecutor at localhost:2619 (Suspended) Daemon System Thread [Attach Listener] (Suspended) Daemon System Thread [Signal Dispatcher] (Suspended) Daemon System Thread [Finalizer] (Suspended) Object.wait(long) line: not available [native method] ReferenceQueue<T>.remove(long) line: not available ReferenceQueue<T>.remove() line: not available Finalizer$FinalizerThread.run() line: not available Daemon System Thread [Reference Handler] (Suspended) Object.wait(long) line: not available [native method] Reference$Lock(Object).wait() line: 485 Reference$ReferenceHandler.run() line: not available Thread [pool-1-thread-1] (Suspended) Unsafe.park(boolean, long) line: not available [native method] LockSupport.park(Object) line: not available AbstractQueuedSynchronizer$ConditionObject.await() line: not available ArrayBlockingQueue<E>.take() line: not available ThreadPoolExecutor.getTask() line: not available ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.run() line: not available Thread.run() line: not available Thread [pool-1-thread-2] (Suspended) Unsafe.park(boolean, long) line: not available [native method] LockSupport.park(Object) line: not available AbstractQueuedSynchronizer$ConditionObject.await() line: not available ArrayBlockingQueue<E>.take() line: not available ThreadPoolExecutor.getTask() line: not available ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.run() line: not available Thread.run() line: not available Thread [pool-1-thread-3] (Suspended) Unsafe.park(boolean, long) line: not available [native method] LockSupport.park(Object) line: not available AbstractQueuedSynchronizer$ConditionObject.await() line: not available ArrayBlockingQueue<E>.take() line: not available ThreadPoolExecutor.getTask() line: not available ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.run() line: not available Thread.run() line: not available Thread [pool-1-thread-4] (Suspended) Unsafe.park(boolean, long) line: not available [native method] LockSupport.park(Object) line: not available AbstractQueuedSynchronizer$ConditionObject.await() line: not available ArrayBlockingQueue<E>.take() line: not available ThreadPoolExecutor.getTask() line: not available ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.run() line: not available Thread.run() line: not available Thread [pool-1-thread-6] (Suspended) Unsafe.park(boolean, long) line: not available [native method] LockSupport.park(Object) line: not available AbstractQueuedSynchronizer$ConditionObject.await() line: not available ArrayBlockingQueue<E>.take() line: not available ThreadPoolExecutor.getTask() line: not available ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.run() line: not available Thread.run() line: not available Thread [pool-1-thread-8] (Suspended) Unsafe.park(boolean, long) line: not available [native method] LockSupport.park(Object) line: not available AbstractQueuedSynchronizer$ConditionObject.await() line: not available ArrayBlockingQueue<E>.take() line: not available ThreadPoolExecutor.getTask() line: not available ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.run() line: not available Thread.run() line: not available Thread [pool-1-thread-5] (Suspended) Unsafe.park(boolean, long) line: not available [native method] LockSupport.park(Object) line: not available AbstractQueuedSynchronizer$ConditionObject.await() line: not available ArrayBlockingQueue<E>.take() line: not available ThreadPoolExecutor.getTask() line: not available ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.run() line: not available Thread.run() line: not available Thread [pool-1-thread-10] (Suspended) Unsafe.park(boolean, long) line: not available [native method] LockSupport.park(Object) line: not available AbstractQueuedSynchronizer$ConditionObject.await() line: not available ArrayBlockingQueue<E>.take() line: not available ThreadPoolExecutor.getTask() line: not available ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.run() line: not available Thread.run() line: not available Thread [pool-1-thread-9] (Suspended) Unsafe.park(boolean, long) line: not available [native method] LockSupport.park(Object) line: not available AbstractQueuedSynchronizer$ConditionObject.await() line: not available ArrayBlockingQueue<E>.take() line: not available ThreadPoolExecutor.getTask() line: not available ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.run() line: not available Thread.run() line: not available Thread [pool-1-thread-7] (Suspended) Unsafe.park(boolean, long) line: not available [native method] LockSupport.park(Object) line: not available AbstractQueuedSynchronizer$ConditionObject.await() line: not available ArrayBlockingQueue<E>.take() line: not available ThreadPoolExecutor.getTask() line: not available ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.run() line: not available Thread.run() line: not available Thread [DestroyJavaVM] (Suspended) C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_07\bin\javaw.exe (Jun 17, 2010 10:42:33 AM) In my actual application,ThreadPoolExecutor threads go in this state and then it stops responding. • Storm Trident 'average aggregator

- by E Shindler
I am a newbie to Trident and I'm looking to create an 'Average' aggregator similar to 'Sum(), but for 'Average'.The following does not work: public class Average implements CombinerAggregator<Long>.......{ public Long init(TridentTuple tuple) { (Long)tuple.getValue(0); } public Long Combine(long val1,long val2){ return val1+val2/2; } public Long zero(){ return 0L; } } It may not be exactly syntactically correct, but that's the idea. Please help if you can. Given 2 tuples with values [2,4,1] and [2,2,5] and fields 'a','b' and 'c' and doing an average on field 'b' should return '3'. I'm not entirely sure how init() and zero() work. Thank you so much for your help in advance. Eli

• How long does a blocked connection from Iptables last? Is there a way to set the timeout?

- by Josh
iptables -A INPUT -m state --state NEW -m recent --set # If we receive more than 10 connections in 10 seconds block our friend. iptables -A INPUT -m state --state NEW -m recent --update --seconds 5 --hitcount 15 -j Log-N-Drop I have these two relevant rules from iptables. if more than 15 connections are made in 5 seconds it logs the attempt and blocks it. How long does iptables maintain the counter? Does it refresh if connections are attempted again?

• Faceted search with Solr on Windows

- by Dr.NETjes
With over 10 million hits a day, funda.nl is probably the largest ASP.NET website which uses Solr on a Windows platform. While all our data (i.e. real estate properties) is stored in SQL Server, we're using Solr 1.4.1 to return the faceted search results as fast as we can.And yes, Solr is very fast. We did do some heavy stress testing on our Solr service, which allowed us to do over 1,000 req/sec on a single 64-bits Solr instance; and that's including converting search-url's to Solr http-queries and deserializing Solr's result-XML back to .NET objects! Let me tell you about faceted search and how to integrate Solr in a .NET/Windows environment. I'll bet it's easier than you think :-) What is faceted search? Faceted search is the clustering of search results into categories, allowing users to drill into search results. By showing the number of hits for each facet category, users can easily see how many results match that category. If you're still a bit confused, this example from CNET explains it all: The SQL solution for faceted search Our ("pre-Solr") solution for faceted search was done by adding a lot of redundant columns to our SQL tables and doing a COUNT(...) for each of those columns: So if a user was searching for real estate properties in the city 'Amsterdam', our facet-query would be something like: SELECT COUNT(hasGarden), COUNT(has2Bathrooms), COUNT(has3Bathrooms), COUNT(etc...) FROM Houses WHERE city = 'Amsterdam' While this solution worked fine for a couple of years, it wasn't very easy for developers to add new facets. And also, performing COUNT's on all matched rows only performs well if you have a limited amount of rows in a table (i.e. less than a million). Enter Solr "Solr is an open source enterprise search server based on the Lucene Java search library, with XML/HTTP and JSON APIs, hit highlighting, faceted search, caching, replication, and a web administration interface." (quoted from Wikipedia's page on Solr) Solr isn't a database, it's more like a big index. Every time you upload data to Solr, it will analyze the data and create an inverted index from it (like the index-pages of a book). This way Solr can lookup data very quickly. To explain the inner workings of Solr is beyond the scope of this post, but if you want to learn more, please visit the Solr Wiki pages. Getting faceted search results from Solr is very easy; first let me show you how to send a http-query to Solr: http://localhost:8983/solr/select?q=city:Amsterdam This will return an XML document containing the search results (in this example only three houses in the city of Amsterdam): <response> <result name="response" numFound="3" start="0"> <doc> <long name="id">3203</long> <str name="city">Amsterdam</str> <str name="steet">Keizersgracht</str> <int name="numberOfBathrooms">2</int> </doc> <doc> <long name="id">3205</long> <str name="city">Amsterdam</str> <str name="steet">Vondelstraat</str> <int name="numberOfBathrooms">3</int> </doc> <doc> <long name="id">4293</long> <str name="city">Amsterdam</str> <str name="steet">Wibautstraat</str> <int name="numberOfBathrooms">2</int> </doc> </result> </response> By adding a facet-querypart for the field "numberOfBathrooms", Solr will return the facets for this particular field. We will see that there's one house in Amsterdam with three bathrooms and two houses with two bathrooms. http://localhost:8983/solr/select?q=city:Amsterdam&facet=true&facet.field=numberOfBathrooms The complete XML response from Solr now looks like: <response> <result name="response" numFound="3" start="0"> <doc> <long name="id">3203</long> <str name="city">Amsterdam</str> <str name="steet">Keizersgracht</str> <int name="numberOfBathrooms">2</int> </doc> <doc> <long name="id">3205</long> <str name="city">Amsterdam</str> <str name="steet">Vondelstraat</str> <int name="numberOfBathrooms">3</int> </doc> <doc> <long name="id">4293</long> <str name="city">Amsterdam</str> <str name="steet">Wibautstraat</str> <int name="numberOfBathrooms">2</int> </doc> </result> <lst name="facet_fields"> <lst name="numberOfBathrooms"> <int name="2">2</int> <int name="3">1</int> </lst> </lst> </response> Trying Solr for yourself To run Solr on your local machine and experiment with it, you should read the Solr tutorial. This tutorial really only takes 1 hour, in which you install Solr, upload sample data and get some query results. And yes, it works on Windows without a problem. Note that in the Solr tutorial, you're using Jetty as a Java Servlet Container (that's why you must start it using "java -jar start.jar"). In our environment we prefer to use Apache Tomcat to host Solr, which installs like a Windows service and works more like .NET developers expect. See the SolrTomcat page. Some best practices for running Solr on Windows: Use the 64-bits version of Tomcat. In our tests, this doubled the req/sec we were able to handle!Use a .NET XmlReader to convert Solr's XML output-stream to .NET objects. Don't use XPath; it won't scale well.Use filter queries ("fq" parameter) instead of the normal "q" parameter where possible. Filter queries are cached by Solr and will speed up Solr's response time (see FilterQueryGuidance)In my next post I’ll talk about how to keep Solr's indexed data in sync with the data in your SQL tables. Timestamps / rowversions will help you out here!

• One National Team One Event – SharePoint Saturday Kansas City

- by MOSSLover
I wasn’t expect to run an event from 1,000 miles away, but some stuff happened you know like it does and I opted in. It was really weird, because people asked why are you living in NJ and running Kansas City? I did move, but it was like my baby and Karthik didn’t have the ability to do it this year. I found it really challenging, because I could not physically be in Kansas City. At first I was freaking out and Lee Brandt, Brian Laird, and Chris Geier offered to help. Somehow I couldn’t come the day of the event. Time-wise it just didn’t work out. I could do all the leg work prior to the event, but weekends just were not good. I was going to be in DC until March or April on the weekdays, so leaving that weekend was too tough. As it worked out Lee was my eyes and ears for the venue. Brian was the sponsor and prize box coordinator if anyone needed to send items. Lee also helped Brian the day of the event move all the boxes. I did everything we could do electronically, such as get the sponsors coordinate with Michael Lotter on invoicing and getting the speakers, posting the submissions, budgeting the money, setting up a speaker dinner by phone, plus all that other stuff you do behind the scenes. Chris was there to help Lee and Brian the day of the event and help us out with the speaker dinner. Karthik finally got back from India and he was there the night before getting the folders together and the signs and stuffing it all. Jason Gallicchio also helped me out (my cohort for SPS NYC) as he did the schedule and helped with posting the speakers abstracts and so did Chris Geier by posting the bios. The lot of them enlisted a few other monkeys to help out. It was the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen, but it worked. Around 100+ attendees ended up showing and I hear it was a great event. Jason, Michael, Chris, Karthik, Brian, and Lee are not all from the same area, but they helped me out in bringing this event together. It was a national SharePoint Saturday team that brought together a specific local event for Kansas City. It’s like a metaphor for the entire SharePoint Community. We help our own kind out we don’t let me fail. I know Lee and Brian aren’t technically SharePoint People they are honorary SharePoint Community Members. Thanks everyone for the support and help in bringing this event together. Technorati Tags: SharePoint Saturday,SPS KC,SharePoint,SharePoint Saturday Kanas City,Kansas City

• Mac OS ? Assembly Language Esoteria

- by veryfoolish
I've been playing around with assembly and object files in general on Mac OS ? and was wondering if somebody could provide some edification. Specifically, I'm wondering what the extra code GCC generates when compiling the C file in the following example does. I have a toy C program so I can comprehend the assembly output. int main() { int a = 5; int b = 5; int c = a + b; } Running this through gcc -S creates the following assembly: .text .globl _main _main: LFB2: pushq %rbp LCFI0: movq %rsp, %rbp LCFI1: movl $5, -4(%rbp) movl $5, -8(%rbp) movl -8(%rbp), %eax addl -4(%rbp), %eax movl %eax, -12(%rbp) leave ret LFE2: .section __TEXT,__eh_frame,coalesced,no_toc+strip_static_syms+live_support EH_frame1: .set L$set$0,LECIE1-LSCIE1 .long L$set$0 LSCIE1: .long 0x0 .byte 0x1 .ascii "zR\0" .byte 0x1 .byte 0x78 .byte 0x10 .byte 0x1 .byte 0x10 .byte 0xc .byte 0x7 .byte 0x8 .byte 0x90 .byte 0x1 .align 3 LECIE1: .globl _main.eh _main.eh: LSFDE1: .set L$set$1,LEFDE1-LASFDE1 .long L$set$1 LASFDE1: .long LASFDE1-EH_frame1 .quad LFB2-. .set L$set$2,LFE2-LFB2 .quad L$set$2 .byte 0x0 .byte 0x4 .set L$set$3,LCFI0-LFB2 .long L$set$3 .byte 0xe .byte 0x10 .byte 0x86 .byte 0x2 .byte 0x4 .set L$set$4,LCFI1-LCFI0 .long L$set$4 .byte 0xd .byte 0x6 .align 3 LEFDE1: .subsections_via_symbols The LCFI1 section seems to contain the actual logic for the program, but I'm not sure what the misc. other stuff is for... also, is there any scheme these labels are following? I'm sorry this is such a vague question. I'd appreciate anything, including being pointed to a resource where I can find out more about this. Thanks!

• How do you decide site availability requirements?

- by Nathan Long
I work on a web application to file a specific kind of county taxes. Our company wants our state to mandate that counties must accept electronic filings (as opposed to paper) from any system that meets some sensible requirements for uptime, security, data validation, etc. (Yes, this would help us as a business, but it would also force county governments to be more efficient.) We're creating a draft of those requirements to be reviewed and tweaked with the state. One of the sections is "availability." We want to specify something reasonably high, but not so high that any unexpected problem will get us (or a competitor) penalized. How do we decide what's reasonable for availability requirements?

• Passing elapsed time to the update function from the game loop

- by Sri Harsha Chilakapati
I want to pass the time elapsed to the update() method as this would make easy to implement the animations and time related concepts. Here's my game-loop. public void gameLoop(){ boolean running = true; long gameTime = getCurrentTime(); long elapsedTime = 0; long lastUpdateTime = 0; int loops; while (running){ loops = 0; while(getCurrentTime()>gameTime && loops<Global.MAX_FRAMESKIP){ elapsedTime = getCurrentTime() - lastUpdateTime; lastUpdateTime = getCurrentTime(); update(elapsedTime); gameTime += SKIP_STEPS; loops++; } displayGame(); } } getCurrentTime() method public long getCurrentTime(){ return (System.nanoTime()/1000000); } update() method long time = 0; public void update(long elapsedTime){ time += elapsedTime; if (time>=1000){ System.out.println("A second elapsed"); time -= 1000; } } But this is printing the message for 3 seconds. Thanks.

I recently setup my laptop with Xubuntu 13.04 and after installing and setting up all my dotfiles, which have previously worked fine with Ubuntu 13.04 with XFCE installed, my colorscheme in Vim is using the wrong colors. Thanks!

• VMWare Fusion Folder Sharing Not Working with Server

- by Dave Long
I have a Ubuntu Server running in VMWare Fusion 3.1.2 on my MacBook Pro for Java development and all my projects sit on my Mac in ~/Workspace/ColdFusion. I had ColdFusion/ shared with my VM through the VMWare tools, and it was working perfectly up until friday when the folder sharing just stopped. No updates on either mac or linux besides an iTunes update. I tried uninstalling the VMWare tools and reinstalling them but I get an error at the end of the install. It appears that when I reinstall the tools there are files left over from the old installation. Is there a way to force the unsinstall script to completely uninstall and remove all files for the VMWare-Tools? I know the shared folder used to mount at /mnt/hgfs/ColdFusion.

• Import emails from hard disk image?

- by Chen Xiao-Long
My old Pentium 3 email server just died on me. Is it possible import all my emails that I had? I was running postfix and the cyrus IMAP server. I can chroot to the hard drive to run any commands if needed. After grep'ing the hard drive, I found that all of my emails are in /var/spool/imap. I assume that I can't just copy all the emails to my new server, so what do I need to do to get them onto my new server?

• Hidden web standards behind Google "custom searchEngines"?

- by Hoàng Long
Today while playing with Google Chrome Omnibox, I notice a strange behavior. I guess there's some "hidden" web standard behind it, but can't figure it out. Here's how to reproduce: Go to http://edition.cnn.com/ Use the search function at the higher right corner, Search a random keyword, for example: "abc" Close the tabs. Open a new tab, type until Chrome reminds you about http://edition.cnn.com/, then press "Tab" The Omnibox now shows "Search CNN.com"! And when you type "abc" and press Enter, it uses the CNN search function to do the job, not Google! I also tried it for several different sites. To some it won't work. But to some sites, like CNN, vnexpress.net, it works after I use the search function of that site once. I also learnt about chrome://settings/searchEngines (type it in your chrome box and you will see), and learnt about you can add custom search engine in chrome. But the question is, why Chrome can realize the search URL automatically to some pages, and not others? It's not because some site subscribe to Google service, because I can do the same method for my site (http://ledohoanglong.wordpress.com), and I'm sure that there's no subscription. So I guess there's a method to "expose" the search function of a site, so that Google Chrome can catch it (after I call the search function of that site once, of courses). Does anyone know about how it works behind the scene?

• Recommendations for adjustable sit-stand workstations?

- by Chris Phillips
Recently, I've been feeling the discomfort of sitting at my desk all day long. I'm fairly active, stretch, and take regular breaks, but some days it's still pretty uncomfortable to sit all day long, whether in a nice chair or on an exercise ball. I would really like able to stand at my computer for part of the day. My current setup is a large desk with two 26" lcds and a 17" laptop. I don't mind if the laptop isn't adjustable, as I don't use it as regularly as the monitors. I would like to be able to fairly easily switch from a sitting position to a standing position and back again as necessary. I've been looking into adjustable height desks and stands and found that they tend to be either really expensive, or don't quite meet my needs. (For example, the Ergotron WorkFit-S Dual LCD workstation looks like the ideal feature set at a reasonable price, but won't fit with my monitors.) Any suggestions or thoughts? Update: fixed a typo. Thanks @RDL!

• Styles of games that work at low-resolution

- by Brendan Long
I'm taking a class on compilers, and the goal is to write a compiler for Meggy Jr devices (Arduino). The goal is just to make a simple compilers with loops and variables and stuff. Obviously, that's lame, so the "real goal" is to make an impressive game on the device. The problem is that it only has 64 pixels to work with (technically 72, but the top 8 are single-color and not part of the main display, so they're really only useful for displaying things like money). My problem is thinking of something to do on a device that small. It doesn't really matter if it's original, but it can't be something that's already available. My first idea was "snake", but that comes with the SDK. Same with a side-scrolling shooter. Remaining ideas include a tower defense game (hard to write, hard to control), an RPG (same), tetris (lame).. The problem is that all of the games I like require a high-resolution screen because they have a lot of text. Even a really simple game like nethack would be hard because each creature would be a single color. tl;dr What styles of games require a. No text; and b. Few enough objects that representing them each with a single color is acceptable? EDIT: To clarify, the display is 8x8 for a total of 64 pixels, not 64x64.

• MaaS minimum requirements with juju-jitsu?

- by Christopher Shen Mu Long
I've browsed through so many different sites and found so much contradictory information. As I am getting tired of this and do belive this question affects many other users, so I would like to collect the "once and for all times" answer. Unfortunately, the documentation on MaaS and Juju is ... well, not the best, sorry to say that. What are the minimum system requirements for setting up a MaaS cluster, which is going to be orchestrated with juju-jitsu? Do they need to have the exact system specifications or can I just combine different hardware? What are the minimum requirements for the master machine? E.g. "You need at least 8GB of RAM, a dual core CPU with at least 3.0 GHz." How many machines to I need to deploy MaaS on? I've read six machines, nine machines, and so on. I clearly want to know: "You need one for the Master and e.g. five nodes." Do I need to attach as many NICs (network interface cards) to my master machine as there are nodes, or can I simply attach two NICs and a switch? One NIC for connecting to the internet, one for handling the MaaS tasks, connected to a switch, which connects my nodes to the master? Is Juju now ready for local deployment? The last time I experimented with juju and had to reboot my machine, the services orchestrated by juju were gone. This was an issue I also found on the official juju site. Unfortunately, as mentioned above, the documentation is not the best, so I could not find the necessary info on that again. So: Can I use juju on a local environment or will a reboot break my setup?
