• Iphone UIScrollView and multiple visible images

  Hi! Im trying to implement a UIScrollView including multiple images, using paginate. The problem is that I want more then one page to be visible in the UIScrollView, but only one page should be selected. I found several solutions in which you handle touch down/up (touchesBegan and touchesEnded) myself and scrollRectToVisible, but I want to avoid this if possible. A sample solution for that can be found at: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=634462 I dont get why its so easy if you only need to display one page at a time in the UIScrollView , but seems really hard if you want to show more pages. Could you solve it with zooming? /Br Johannes

  I'm getting the following errors from MSBuild while trying to build a solution: C:\dev\MySln.sln : warning MSB3422: Failed to retrieve VC project information through the VC project engine object model. Unable to determine default tool for the specified file configuration. C:\dev\MySln.sln : warning MSB3425: Could not resolve VC project reference "C:\dev\MyProj.vcproj". Have you got any ideas on what's causing this? I've seen other postings about similar, but different errors such as when the MSB3422 error has a different message and shows "Illegal characters in path.", but I haven't seen any useful information about how to solve the error I'm getting where it says "Unable to determine default tool for the specified file configuration.". • Bullet Physics, when to choose which DynamicsWorld?

  I have a few general questions about the bullet physics library. Here is my current understanding in a nutshell: btDiscreteDynamicsWorld - Simplest physics world, only handles rigid bodies, maybe it has better performance. btSoftRigidDynamicsWorld - The only physics world that can work with large jello moulds btContinuousDynamicsWorld - If you have really fast objects this will prevent them from prenetrating each other or flying through each other, but is otherwise like a btDiscreteDynamicsWorld. Is my understanding of the btDiscreetDynamicsWorld, btContinuousDynamicsWorld and btSoftRigidDynamicsWorld classes in terms of functionality, purpose, and performance correct? Why does the user manual recommend the btDiscreteDynamicsWorld class? btSoftRigidDynamicsWorld appears to be the only world that can handle soft bodies, so what if we wanted Continuous Physics integration and Soft bodies? How fast is fast enough to consider using a btContinuousDynamicsWorld, and what are the drawbacks of using one? • jQuery/AJAX type-ahead/auto-complete

  I have read several articles/questions/forums discussing the best auto-complete plugin for jQuery. After trying several good ones, I've realized a flaw in most. If you are looking up countries and type 'In', a couple of countries show up. If you continue typing I-n-d-i-a, this results in 5 AJAX calls (see http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/6f1bcd69e1.png) its quite natural that India is a subset of In, so why call again? We need to simply filter the retrieved list client-side. Anyone knows about such an implementation? What is the status of the Jquery Autocomplete feature? I read at StackOverflow that it is no longer available with Jquery; but the Jquery website has a 'New' mark besides the link to Autocomplete. Thanks

• Error using ASP.NET 3.5 Chart control within a Repeater control

  Hi, I'm getting the error "Microsoft JScript runtime error: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: Error executing child request for ChartImg.axd" at runtime from my Chart control. I have read one solution to this error message as documented here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/MSWinWebChart/thread/1dc4b352-c9a5-49dc-8f35-9b176509faa1/ but this does not solve my problem. I have the Chart within a Repeater control, which is within an ajax UpdatePanel. When I take the chart out of the Repeater (but leave it in the UpdatePanel), it works. So I'm thinking it is to do with the Repeater. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance.

  I have been trying to get Ruby on Rails to migrate a database for the good part of today, the problems all seem to result with this issue, can someone please help! If its a radrails specific problem I guess Ill take this to their forums. • Custom Forum ~ Suggestions for topics pages (eg. active topics page, unanswered topics page) +1 othe

  Lets say I was to develop a small forum script, what types of topics pages would you find most helpful? I'd like to get an idea of what should be added. Viewing popular phpBB forums, they offer "Unanswered Posts", "Active Topics" and "Unread Topics". Obviously I'm already including a page to view your own topics and posts. My other question was, is it a big deal that I'm not tracking whether or not you've read a topic? I already provide the page showing all topics you've participated in... just not ones that you've "viewed". Would this be something forum users would only end up complaining about? I don't like the options available to track topics that are read/not read, that's the only reason I am not considering adding this feature at this stage. Many thanks everyone for any help.

• [LINQ]InsertOnSubmit NullReferenceException

  Hello, I have a rather annoying issue with LinqToSql. I have created a class that is derived from the class in the DataContext. The problem is that as soon as I use "InsertOnSubmit(this);" on this derived class I get a NullReferenceException. I've seen some people with the same issue. However they've used a custom constructor and solved the issue by calling ": this()" like this thread http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/linqprojectgeneral/thread/0cf1fccb-6398-4f16-920b-adef9dc4ac9f The difference is that I use a default constructor which causes the base constructor to be called so there should not be any problem!   The type or namespace name 'Resources' does not exist in the namespace 'MyWebProject.Web' (are you missing an assembly reference?) C:\Users\...\MySecondProject\Generated_Code\MyWebProject.Web.g.cs I am having some problems trying to add a second SL client project to my (Ria services) SL Business Application. It has to do with the way the shared Resources files on the Web project are linked to from my new SL client project (the SL client project that was generated by the Business App template works fine). The same problem was brought up in the SL forums but copying the Web folder from my existing SL client doesn't seem to work. How can I add a second SL client project using RIA services to the solution of an existing SL Business Application without these problems over shared resources? Should I avoid the Business Application solution template for solutions with multiple SL clients since it seems to presume only a single client app will be sharing the resource files?

  Hi, I'm trying to optimize my page load times, and I'm using Pingdom to test the site response times. However, I'm not exactly sure what the various components of the "time bar" mean. Example link: http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/?url=http://neosmart.net/forums//&id=2230361 According to them, the portion of the bar that is yellow is the time between "start" and "connect" and the portion of the bar that is green is the time between "connect" and "first byte" with the blue section being the actual transfer time (time between "first byte" and "last byte"). If I'm trying to the first two (which take very long in my case), what's the recommended course of action? Thanks.

• Azure - Microsoft.IdentityModel not found

  Hi There, I'm working with a WCF service in Azure, which uses Windows Live ID authentication with the recent deviceid requirements. When I host my WCF service locally in the compute emulator, it works properly, but when I deploy the cloud service to Azure and call it the same way (from another project that uses the WCF service as a service reference), I get the error: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.IdentityModel, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. I found this post : http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/netservices/thread/cd139b5c-ad12-4298-af2f-1b2d0136a977 But there are a few problems: 1. I don't seem to have access to Microsoft.IdentityModel, only System.IdentityModel. I'm not sure why it's searching for something in 3.5 at all, as I'm building in .NET 4.0. 2. When I choose to "copy to local" on System.IdentityModel, it doesn't change anything. Any help? I would appreciate it! Best Regards, Andy

• unable to connect emulator with internet

  hi I am using Android 2.2 . I am unable to connect my emulator to internet . When I open my web browser in the emulator it shows the message "Web Page not available" . I have set proxy settings in the emulator (settings - Wireless & Networks -Mobile Networks - Access Point Names). Also , I set proxy settings in eclipse (Windows- Preferences- Android- Launch- Default Emulator Options). I have read many blogs and forums but I haven't found any solution yet .I am really frustrated . Please help me out. Abhijeet

• jQuery ajax in DotNetNuke preserving user authentication

  I want to use jQuery's ajax functionality in a DotNetNuke module I'm developing. I want the ajax call to be authenticated via DNN's membership functionality. I want the ajax response as json. How can I do this? I've looked at IWeb and IWebCF -- it's not clear to me from much Googleing and scanning the forums whether these modules would allow me to create a web service that would accept a simple post request and return json (seems like they want to do it the ASP.NET AJAX way with a generated proxy, I'd prefer to just use jQuery's AJAX call functionality). Seems you can't create a simple webmethod in a DNN module (since they are developed as User Controls (.ascx)). I could deploy an .asmx file with module, but that won't leverage DNN's authentication system. Ideas? I'm currently developing against DNN 4.9.5

• Visual Studio 2010 RTM is not publishing with ClickOnce

  Is anyone using ClickOnce with VS2010? I’m getting the following on publish, when the solution builds fine ... Building WindowsFormsApplication1... Error: Cannot publish because a project failed to build. Have tried everything, new clean project (both windforms and WPF), new temporary key, disabled pre-requisites and played with every publish setting. • Sql Server Service Broker Conversation Groups

  Can someone explain conversation groups in service broker? Currently, I'm using service broker to send messages from one SQL server to another. On the sending server, I'm trying to correlate the messages so they are processed in serial on the receiving side. Based on the documentation, conversation groups seem to be a perfect fit for this, but on the receiving server, the messages get assigned to a different conversation group from the one I specified when sending the message. I've search around the web and saw that this behavior seems to be intended (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/sqlservicebroker/thread/baf48074-6804-43ab-844a-cb28a6dce02b/), but then I'm confused about the usefulness of the syntax from (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms178624.aspx) WAITFOR( GET CONVERSATION GROUP @conversation_group_id FROM [dbo].[ReceiveQueue] ) If the conversation group doesn't come across with the message from the sender and messages sent with the same conversation group id don't have the same conversation group id on the receive side, what's the point of the code above?

• telerik mvc grid access cell data to enable columns.Command

  Hi! I can't seem to find a way to reference the value in a column in the grid, in my case it is the StatusId. Based on the cell value in this row, for the StatusId, I need to return a true or false to the method ".Visible(???)". It would be nice to find the answer in the documentation online but I haven't been able to. I find it hard to believe that I would be the first person who ever needed this functionality. • Android - Calling getJSONArray throwing JSONException with no stack trace

  Hi all, I'm currently working on an android app that pulls a list of forums from a JSON feed. I'm trying to parse the feed and immediately upon calling getJSONArray a JSON exception is being thrown with no stack trace. The JSON being returned is stored in an JSONObject jobj with the format as follows: { "Forum": [ {"ForumName":"CEC Employee Communications Forum","ForumId":"105"}, {"ForumName":"CEC External Stakeholder Relations Forum","ForumId":"109"}, {"ForumName":"See All...","ForumId":"0"} ] } However when running the following code, I get an immediate exception without a stack trace: JSONArray jarray = new JSONArray(); jarray = jobj.getJSONArray("Forum"); Running jobj.GetJSONArray("Forum").toString(); returns what looks to be a correct array of the format: [ {"ForumName":"CEC Employee Communications Forum","ForumId":"105"}, {"ForumName":"CEC External Stakeholder Relations Forum","ForumId":"109"}, {"ForumName":"See All...","ForumId":"0"} ] I also tried JSONArray jarray = new JSONArray(jobj.GetJSONArray("Forum").toString()); and had the exception thrown immediately.   Hi, I've been trying to find this info in JBoss docs/forums/WIKIs - but could not get a concise answer to this question: Which web services stacks are supported (or you can make work on) in JBoss 5? I have a huge legacy app using Axis 1 web services which is running fine on WLS9.2. Now I have to migrate it to JBoss 5 and I have to decide whether I can leave Axis1 web services as is (at least for the time being, to get the app working on JBoss at all), or if I have to upgrade web services to Axis 2 or CXF. So, given the three options, Axis 1, Axis 2 and CXF - what does support for them look like on JBoss 5? Any gotchas, pain points, words of wisdom from experience? :)

  I have been seeing the following error message a lot whenever I build something using the simulator: dyld: Symbol not found: _objc_collect_if_needed Referenced from: /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator3.1.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks/Foundation.framework/Foundation Expected in: /usr/lib/libobjc.A.dylib in /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator3.1.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks/Foundation.framework/Foundation I am running XCode 3.2.2 on OS X 10.6.3, and have reinstalled the SDK twice with no avail. This error makes running any code on the simulator something of a Russian Roulette, but with 5 out of 6 chambers loaded. I have checked the files mentioned in the error message, and they all checkout as being present. This sometimes go away if I restart XCode. Other times I have to logout, or even restart. And sometimes nothing works. I have googled this, even tried apple's developer forums. Other than a reference to this in the MonoTouch list, this bug appears to be completely unknown otherwise. Anything help would be greatly appreciated - this is a real PITA. Cheers, Steve

• Java RS232 Comm on Vista-64 bit

  We have a Java application which needs to communicate with a peripheral device over Virtual Serial COM port. We use the RS232 Java COMM API (javax.comm.properties, comm.jar, win32com.dll) to achieve the same. Currently the code works fine on Windows XP 32-bit, Vista 32-bit and Windows 7. However we are having a problem trying to communicate on Vista 64-bit. I read from the Java forums that there is no 64-bit support for the Java COMM API I was wondering if anyone was facing a similar situation and were able to resolve the same in some way?

That fix it but then [url]http://www.bob.com[/url] will lead to http://http://www.bobsbar.com How would you fix this? I want my users to be able to post links with AND without http:// and i want it to redirect to the site -_- Hope you understand this.   Some forums that I regularly visit sell premium programs, and to prevent them from being leaked they use hardware-id authentication. That is, first they send you a program to run to grab your HWID, you tell them your HWID, they store it in a database, then they send you the actual program. If your HWID isn't in the database, the program won't run. So what is Hardware-ID, and how is it generated? Why is it that my HWID is different depending on the programmer that sends me a HWID-grabber?

• Google Chrome - NETWORK_IP_ADDRESSES_CHANGED - pages only partially load

  Hi Google Chrome version (8.0.552.224 (Official Build 68599)) I have developed a web site using asp.net mvc and jquery. it uses a lot of ajax. I noticed that occasionally a web page does not complete loading all files from the server. Browsing through forums It seems that this also happens to other people. Looking in to the Chromium Net-Internals ( type: chrome://net-internals/ as a url in the chrome browser ) I noticed that the pages do not complete loading if a NETWORK_IP_ADDRESSES_CHANGED event occurred. Any files that were not fetched from the server before the time of the NETWORK_IP_ADDRESSES_CHANGED event failed to arrive with error (-3) Do you know why the NETWORK_IP_ADDRESSES_CHANGED event occurs? • Persistence with Vaadin

  Hi I'm trying to learn vaadin. I'm really confused how to do any kind of application development with persistence because if I have a reference to my service layer objects, they get stored in session and I really don't want that. Persistence stuff just isn't serializable. My case is that I have an already made application that uses Spring and I'm creating a new UI for it with Vaadin. I can inject the spring stuff to my Vaadin application but that gets stored in the session. Any tips? By the way how do you post in the Vaadin forums? I can't find a post button or way to register :)
